If you have a bit more to lose and will be doing this for a while and want a nice supportive crowd to hang out with while you're at it this might be the thread for you.

Evening all

Some really good progress from everyone and for those who haven't had such a good week, it's a long road and this is just a bend.

SW: 17st 115lbs (02/01/23)
CW: 17st 0.5lbs (29/01/23)
TW: 11 st

I forgot to post last week but have had a good week. I am making lots of soup which I find helps enormously so I eat that for lunch and have eggs for breakfast and then have plenty of calories left over for supper.

I still have a really long way to go but hope to tip over into the next stone (if you see what I mean) this week but it is going to be a bit more challenging I think - lots of potential bends in the road to come this week ....

PotatoFan · 29/01/2024 20:27

It’s a gain this week. It’s been a hard week so I’m surprised it’s only 1, it was more than that at times. I really lost it with the plan last week and ate rubbish, but restarted today.

First months weigh in for the weight management program is next week and I was 19st1.5 when I started that so not going to look like I’ve lost much unless I knuckle down this week!

SW: 19st10

W2: -3, 19st1
W3: -3, 18st12

Well done Bumblebee, your starting weight is close to mine so you're an inspiration for me!

Scrabbling I'm trying to cut of ultra processed stuff, it's amazing how quickly your body adapts and your tastes change isn't it? It feels like this could be permanent for us

Stillplenty that must have been amazing to see. You must be so proud of yourself, what an achievement

For those that haven't lost or increased, I haven't weighed so far as I've been away this weekend so I'm expecting a gain tomorrow when I do, we have a choice, go back to our old way of eating and we know that just makes us heavier or we trust the process and keep going on our new path and see where it takes us. Next week will be better!

Bumblebeebum23 · 29/01/2024 22:19

Thank you @Penguinpairs ☺️ and it sounds like you've got a great mindset. Very wise words x

xLMCx · 29/01/2024 22:24

1lb loss for me this week! Current loss is now 11lb. Congrats to everyone this week regardless of the number on the scales, we all have difficult days and events that will happen at some point, as long as we keep carrying on we will ALL get there in the end! Well done everyone for getting back on the horse and sticking with it!

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 29/01/2024 22:28

Just went back through my MyFitnessPal history and saw that back in April 2021 I'd made it to 173lb after a year of dieting. Really pissed off at myself for letting it creep back on and having to do it all over again. I'm at least 5 months away from getting back to that weight and that's being optimistic.

The best time to loose the weight was x number of years ago... the second best time is now.

I have lost and gained so much over so many years. I have been a small size 8, and busting out of a size 28! I have lost and gained the weight of multiple people...

Penguinpairs · 30/01/2024 07:18

14st 9 so 1lb lost which I am exceptionally pleased with after a weekend away. Back on it properly today. Mini goal will be 14st. Have a good week everyone

Hello! Hope I'm okay to join a little late! Starting this week after my weight has hit an all time high. My daughter's 6 months old and I've packed the weight on since having her, she's my 5th baby and metabolism just isn't springing back.

I'm 15st7
Target Weight: 10st7

Looking at reducing my processed foods and refined sugar so I think the Mediterranean diet combined with IF.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 30/01/2024 12:30

Hey there @PumpkinDart welcome and good luck! Congratulations on your latest addition. I think there are a lot of benefits to a Mediterranean diet, and IF is working well for me. I think a lot of what I want to achieve is changing long term eating habits that will allow be to maintain at a healthy weight and IF will definitely be a part of what we're keeping long term I think. Weight loss like parenting is imo all about perseverance and having a good sense of humour combined with the realisation that you are absolutely worth taking care of.

PumpkinDart · 30/01/2024 19:22

@stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk this is exactly the way I feel, I want to make changes to my lifestyle and be healthier inside as well as losing weight. I'm the heaviest I've ever been at the moment and it's head out of the sand time.

Glad IF is working for you, I've managed okay so far. Helps that I'm a black coffee drinker.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 31/01/2024 06:46

morning all - End of January review
SW 124.0 kg (approx. 19 st 7lbs )
CW 119.0 kg (approx 18st 10lbs)

Total loss 5.0kg (11lbs)

While it's still just a smigen below the target rate of 5.4kg for achieving 5 stone in 6 months I'm pretty happy with that all in all. Mini challenge for Feb. to lose the same again even though it's a shorter month.

Morning all. I think the idea of an end of the month review, @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk . Do we get performance-related bonuses?! 👑

Weight at start of the month: 95.5kg
Weight at end of the month: 91.4kg

Total loss: 4.1kg / 9lbs
% bodyweight lost: 4% (as a % of my starting weight)
Average weekly weight loss during Jan: 1.025kg

BMI at start of month: 35.1
Current BMI: 33.6

February goals:

  • make it to under 90kg
  • make it to my 'halfway there' interim goal: 85kg (halfway between 95kg and my current goal weight of 75kg)
stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 31/01/2024 15:03

performance-related bonuses

Absolutely - but I propose anyone still working at it gets👏perseverance and trial and error are both necessary components on this journey. If you spent all month working at it and don't have as much to show for it as you'd like you've successfully found one way that doesn't work (or work well). Give the methodology an overhaul and keep trying.

Think I’ll do a month end review tomorrow, then it’s been exactly a month since starting

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 31/01/2024 20:15

End of month report card is a fab idea

Weight at start of the month: 225 lb
Weight at end of the month: 213 lb

Total loss: 12 lb
% bodyweight lost: 5.33% as a % of my starting weight)
Average weekly weight loss during Jan: 3 lb
BMI at start of month: 34.2
Current BMI: 32.4

February goals:
10 lb loss would be nice

5 stone 26 weeks - Anyhow that works for you
PotatoFan · 01/02/2024 08:12

Month 1 checkin time and 1 stone off so on track. Do have a headache and high blood sugar so I’m a bit dehydrated and will regain some but I’ll take It for today.

SW: 19st10 (1st Jan 2024)

owlyboo · 01/02/2024 08:14

Month one check in

SW 100kg

Total lost 5kg (11lbs)

Total steps for the month over 456,000! Definitely had an active January. My aim was 300,000 (10k a day but managed to smash that!)

Feeling positive and ready for February! Well done everyone for their first month of 2024!!

Gabriella83 · 01/02/2024 09:31

One month check in

SW 18st 9.5lb
CW 17st 7lb
16.5lb lost

Back 2 years ago I started a healthy eating plan and lost a stone and a half but my starting weight 2 years ago was 17st 4lb....so I don't even feel like I've got anywhere yet!
Well done everyone and hope we all have a successful February!

PlantDoctor · 01/02/2024 10:03

Hi, can I sneak in a month late please?

I am at my highest ever weight. Very frustrated with myself. I was looking back at photos of my wedding 6 years ago and I looked great - probably a little overweight in BMI terms but looked healthy.

My CW is, somewhat shockingly to me, 136 kg, or 21 stone 6. It's ridiculous, but I have never felt hugely overweight. This past few months I have started to realise just how big I am though, as I wouldn't be small enough to do certain things. Luckily I haven't damaged any health markers tested in blood yet but only a matter of time.

I need to lose 10 stone in total to be a healthy BMI, or maybe 9 to be around my wedding weight.

I started yesterday and ate healthily despite feeling bleh from a cold. Looking forward to getting healthier.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 01/02/2024 12:09

well done everyone, some great losses

/virtual hug @PlantDoctor I know how hard the first steps can feel. If you haven't already done one get an estimate of your total daily energy expenditure here.

500 calorie deficit a day => 0.5kg of fat burnt a week
1000 calorie deficit a day => 1kg of fat burnt a week
1250 calorie deficit a day => 1.25kg of fat burnt a week

Welcome and good luck

Thanks @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk. I know the calorie weight calculations like the back of my hand after many previous attempts! I have lost weight before, but then fell back into crap old habits. Feeling motivated again now though!

Off to enjoy the spring weather with my dog before the school run! I bought DD and I swim memberships too, which am excited to make the most of.
😊

EnglishGirlApproximately · 02/02/2024 09:04

Weigh in day for me, albeit longer than a week due to changing days but very happy with a 3lb loss this week!
Feeling like I've hit my stride with plenty of water and fibre (these seem to be my weight loss winners) and finding a few snacks that satisfy my sweet tooth but aren't too hideously bad for me!

SW 226lb

15/01. 224lb

22/01. 223lb

02/02. 220lb

Well done everyone, accountability on this chat is really helping me. I'm nodding along when I see the great support and advice 😍

EnglishGirlApproximately · 02/02/2024 09:05

I am getting spreadsheet envy though so that's a project for today!
