If you have a bit more to lose and will be doing this for a while and want a nice supportive crowd to hang out with while you're at it this might be the thread for you.

So I was looking because I had vouchers to use up but I just bought a gorgeous looking slinky dress online in the sales in size 18. I'm pretty certain it isn't going to fit me atm. But I bought it because I was feeling pretty certain that it will fit me eventually. Is this optimism, or crazy?

@stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk glad you enjoyed the coconut cappuccino! It doesn't quite hit the spot like a full fat milk one with sugar but it's a decent replacement

I love that dress but feel like I'd need neck to ankle spanx to wear it 😁 Gorgeous dress though so good to aim for.

I'm not having the best week. Two nights away working and relying on restaurant food. I made ok meal choices (pho for one night, dosa the next) but may have undone it all with the booze. This is my biggest challenge - my job is largely to socialise and I need to learn to say no to a drink. It's so hard when it's an expected part of the role though. And to be blunt, a couple of glasses of wine is sometimes the only thing that gets me through yet another networking evening.

Nocakeinthishouse · 26/01/2024 14:07

@stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk , that dress is DIVINE!!! I love it!!! I’m so glad that you treated yourself!

@EnglishGirlApproximately , that is a really hard situation, well done on making good food choices! I wouldn’t be able to do networking without alcohol either, I absolutely loathe the things. You are brilliant!!

I went for my first walk today and walked at a brisk pace for an hour. It was very blustery and bracing and utterly beautiful. I’m very happy indeed. I managed an hour but now have groin blisters-so glamorous 😂😂😂

UtahGirl12 · 26/01/2024 14:46

I've been awol from here for a while, but still plugging away. I've been pretty consistent sticking to around 1600 calories a day, and sticking to my protein and fibre macros. I have found that sometimes maybe I eat more than I need to to hit my macros, so this is something I need to think about. Is it better to hit them, or eat to satiety etc.

My workout schedule is going well. I discovered Salsacise, which I live, so I now make that a priority 3 times a week. I find it a fabulous workout, which gets my heart rate up to around to 165/170 in the session and burns off at least 350-400 calories in each 45 minute workout.I find it mentally stimulating too, and I'm meeting some nice ladies. It''s always good to make new friends. I'm also doing as many yoga sessions as I can a week; at least 3, which I'm loving. I'm also walking when I can to get my steps up.

I think I'll be able to look back on January as being pretty successful, in that I've lost some weight without depriving myself, and have set up a workout routine that targets cardio and flexibility. I think it's time to add in some weight resistance, so that will be February's goal. Most importantly I'm finding hat building a treat in, such as coffee and cake on a weekend, and a burger and chips when on a girls night out makes it much easier to stick to plan for the rest of the time. I now don't look for sweets/chocolate on the way home from a shopping trip, or a gin just because it's Friday night, as I know I have that treat planned. Ground breaking for me as I tend to be all or nothing. Just need to keep plodding on now!

SW 212.5
CW 203.5
TW 139
Total lost 9/73.5
Total left 64.5

Lovely dress @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk! Great to have a goal to work to!

@Nocakeinthishouse definitely need right fitting leggings to walk in that don't slip at all to avoid thigh blisters! I walk a lot and leggings are a must. The workout type. Stops anything rubbing!

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 26/01/2024 16:11

@UtahGirl12 well done on your loss. I think salsacise and yoga sound like really great workouts.

Most importantly I'm finding that building a treat in, such as coffee and cake on a weekend, and a burger and chips when on a girls night out makes it much easier to stick to plan for the rest of the time.

Yeah I find it really useful to have something to look forward to too.

@Nocakeinthishouse it can be painful for sure but I've been doing it so long I'm on autopilot a lot of the time!
I've signed up to a walking challenge at work so looking forward to that starting on 1st Feb. A lot of us work remotely and it's designed to make us take a break from our laptops so we'll be in teams to get the most steps in and do treasure hunt style things as we go. I've talked my son into doing it with me so he'll keep me motivated

SW: 212lb
CW: 199lbs
Total weight loss since the 1st January: 13lbs

Weighed in abit early but my period pain is getting worse and I wanted to see where I am before the dreaded bloating arrived! But I have reached my mini goal by the end of January! I’m so happy!

February will be a tough month as it is my birthday and it will be the first time eating takeaway and I have such a busy schedule. So my mini goal is 193lbs by the end of February.

Also hoping to start fitting into size 18 clothing soon too!

Gabriella83 · 27/01/2024 07:17

Weigh in day today . I lost 1.5lb. I usually walk with my sister on Thursdays for 1.5/2 hours and we didn't walk this week as it was awful weather. I feel a bit like a slug. Period is due this week too.
SW 18st 9.5lb
CW 17st 8.5lb
Mini goals for next week are to exercise more, drink more water and to get under 17 and a half stone. Goal for February is to get under the 17st.
Well done@Motiv8ed that's an amazing weight loss for January

Bumblebeebum23 · 27/01/2024 11:22

Well done on everybody's losses. I have spent most of the week feeling miserable with covid, but cheered me up to see I have passed the half way mark. I know you love a graph @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk.

Next mini goal 3 stone lost and into the overweight bmi.

Progress has been slow at times, and I've had my ups and downs, but this reminds me that it's a marathon, not a sprint, and to keep going.

On to the next 50%

SW (3/7/23) 150 kg
SW (1/1/24) 124.0 kg
CW (end of week 4) 120.4 kg (+0.6kg)
Total loss so far 3.6 kg against target of 5 kg => 1.4 kg behind

Arrh, everyday of the last week has been under maintenance calories, even if not by as much as I'd want to be aiming for. Time to listen to my own cheery cliches, control what you eat and the scales will cooperate long term if not necessarily short term.

TW: 10st

Scrabblingaround · 29/01/2024 09:16

Well done everyone.

I have lost 6lb this week, which is amazing. V aware it's only coming off so quickly because I'm SO BIG. But OMAD is really working for me.

Still having tiny splashes of milk in tea throughout the day, and one morning cappuccino a week. But I turned down the complimentary biscuit that comes with it... I never thought I'd be that person!

Seems I can pretty much have anything for that one meal at the moment, but aware that will change. And actually already my stomach has definitely shrunk - I can't eat the quantities I used to.

So, my start weight at the beginning of Jan would've been much higher, but I weighed for the first time last week so...

Start weight 21st
Current weight 20st 8lb
Goal weight 11st
First target 17st

I'm continuing to measure my waist too, as getting down the dress sizes is a good motivation for me. Being able to buy clothes anywhere I fancy will be amazing...

So waist measurement is down 3/4" - 4.5" gone! I'm close to half way to my first waist measurement target.

BusinessSecretsOfThePharaoh · 29/01/2024 09:25

Feeling really annoyed this week.
No loss, and a very slight gain of c. 300g.

I definitely think it’s related to menstrual cycle as my diet has been consistently good and in a calorie deficit. I’m due to have my period next week so I think it’s water retention, my jeans felt tight over the weekend despite weight not actually going up.

I find it so difficult that I work so hard on my diet, consistently lose 1-2kg a week, and then it grinds to a halt.

Oh well, here’s hoping next week is a better one.

Morred · 29/01/2024 09:30

Well done everyone! @stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk , taking your own advice is the hardest😀but you've had great losses so far and you can do it!

I'm down again this week. If I can lose 500g in the next 2 days I'll start Feb at 91.something kg which would be awesome and make it near enough 5kg lost in January.

SW (1 Jan): 95.5kg
CW (29 Jan): 91.4kg
GW: 75kg

Loss so far: 4.1kg
Left to lose (to first mini-target: under 90kg): 1.5kg
Left to lose (to goal): 16.4kg

Omg well done on your fantastic losses guys!

I did have a nsv to share which might amuse you, me and dh did that thing where we both got into my trousers, as we were having a laugh that they wouldn't stay up without a safety pin.

No weight loss for me this week, went over my calories (not massively) on two days so head down and get it off next week.

Week 3

WL 0
TWL 6lbs

SW 208.5lbs
CW 202.1lbs
TW 165lbs
36.6lbs to go.

Thinkingthin · 29/01/2024 14:01

Morning All,

great progress on the losses and maintaining so far. Well done folks!
I mentioned last week that I’d be celebrating and would break the diet to have some drinks and take my family out for dinner. I did that… and put on 3lbs this week. I made the choice to break the diet this week, but still not great seeing the scales creep up again. No point in feeling disappointed with myself - I enjoyed myself. I’m now just focusing on losing for next week now.

SW: 303.4lbs (04/01/23)
CW: 285.4lbs. Gain this week: 3.0lbs.
TW: 198lbs

Get back up. Keep going ❤️

EnglishGirlApproximately · 29/01/2024 15:37

Well done everyone, great to see progress being made! No weigh in for me today I've decided to move to a Friday weigh in as Monday is often manic - Fridays I work from home so will be more likely to remember.

stillplentyofjunkinthetrunk · 29/01/2024 16:05

I think that's a great attitude to have @Thinkingthin
