Anyone else up for sorting their shit out, starting tomorrow 1st Jan.

I need a complete overhaul, I'm far too fat and look a mess. It's making me feel miserable so I'm going to do something about it.

I would love some company.

I'm in. Joined slimming world last saturday, starting weight 12.4. Goal weight 10st. I have quite a physical job so going to exercise on my 2 days off. I'm craving chocolate but fighting the urge !!

Are you all exercising aswell? Or just eating healthy? I'm only asking as my sheer lack of motivation to exercise is real 😂

I can't exercise because I'm disabled.
I was never keen on it when I was younger though. Luckily I had a very active job and walked to work in the Olden Dayes.

Swearwolf · 09/01/2024 11:17

I'm hoping to get back to exercise tomorrow with a yoga class - I'm feeling much better and testing covid negative at last. I need to build up slowly but might try a gentle run this week before getting back into my usual routine from Sunday onwards. Two or three runs per week plus one intense yoga class.

I’m not a natural exerciser. I do go to a PT for a 1-1 session once a week which keeps me accountable.
It doesn’t need to be something recognisable as exercise though. A previous PT I had said to go for a brisk walk of 20 mins a day at least 5 days a week (on top of your normal stuff). I did that and pretty quickly came to enjoy it and then to extend it and eventually I did couch to 5k. Sadly I then injured my knee and had to stop the running. Trying to get back to the walking now.

Hedonism · 09/01/2024 11:52

I'm exercising but I do anyway, so not as a new thing. I think starting a diet and starting exercise at the same time is a recipe for failure. Get one going and then add in the other, imo.

OkyDoke · 09/01/2024 12:22

I'm exercising, but began going to the gym in September so the habit is already there. I've been doing more though, and making the effort to do a workout at home when I get the chance in addition to the gym.

Mumoftwo2022 · 09/01/2024 20:08

First weigh day today. 8lb loss very happy with that. Starting weight was 12 stone 4 now 11 stone 10 x

Last night, as I was lying in bed, I was thinking about how if I continue on this trajectory, I'll be a particular weight by half term, another weight by Easter and all of those sorts of things. This allowed for no blips whatsoever even though I was having a real itch yesterday to having something other than all of the nutritious food I'm eating at the moment. There was nothing in the house I really fancy but I'm going to the super market today so was thinking about what I might buy, even though I know that any bit of sugar or artificial crap would send me straight into binge mood and, whilst there might not be anything I particularly want in the house, there's all of the kids' snacks, various Christmassy foods and all of those sorts of things that I could easily eat even though they'd bring me no particular pleasure.
This morning, I've stepped on the scales and they've nudged upwards. A timely reminder that I need to actually stick at this. I might have had a good week but I need to have a lifetime more of them!

cardibach · 11/01/2024 11:37

I forgot to weigh yesterday! However I had a couple of social engagements so I’m going to leave it until next Wednesday and see how it goes. I’ve started making nutritious and interesting breakfasts - I did some whipped feta to have on toast with cherry toms and fresh basil, and today I had half a naan bread with spicy cannellini beans and some sweet pickled red onion I made. They come to about 500 calories (including a milk allowance for the day) but since I only eat two meals per day that’s fine.
I’ve also started tracking types (not portions) of plant based material (that includes herbs and spices) aiming for 30 different types a week - apparently this means you hit a very good level of nutrients. I’m at 26 since Saturday, but the last few will be a challenge! Shopping later so I’ll be mindful of it then and get something different.
I’ve got my PT session in half an hour so today will be a good day.

I sorted my shit out so well today that I had a Big Mac, fries and a milk shake.

Oops.

Hedonism · 11/01/2024 20:33

@TheShellBeach yeah, I've just sorted my shit out with some homemade sticky toffee pudding.

Struggling a bit with trying to lose weight at the same time as having a skinny teenage son who plays lots of sports and needs plenty of high calorie food 🤦🏼‍♀️

I ended the day of sorting out my shit by eating a bag of chocolate peanuts.

And a load of bubble gums.

Hedonism · 12/01/2024 07:33

@TheShellBeach We. Are. Winning. 🙌🏻

rockingbird · 12/01/2024 10:41

Been awol but here I am.. I've been sticking to my MFP calories but done very little else. I caught sight of myself in the mirror this morning in my underwear and it's not a pretty sight 😬😬😬 I really must try harder at this. So back here for accountability. Just done my 20 minutes home workout with dumbbells. 💪

TheShellBeach · 12/01/2024 11:11

I'm back for accountability as well.

My scales have gone mad and I just don't know if what they're saying is right or wrong.

All I can say is that I feel a little thinner. And I've stopped getting heartburn in the evenings and overnight.

I'm just going to get weighed at the doctor's every so often, and stick to 1700 cals a day.

TheShellBeach · 12/01/2024 11:12

How much water is everyone drinking each day?

rockingbird · 12/01/2024 11:13

@TheShellBeach very little.. huge downfall for me!!! I'm going to try harder 😬

I had a bit of a revelation yesterday.
I read that people need to drink more water, to metabolise fat.

If that's true, I never knew. Also, does tea count? Because I drink ten cups of that a day.

rockingbird · 12/01/2024 11:30

I've had two cappuccino's from my fancy machine.. that's it. I have one of those motivational 'drink more water' bottles .. going to dig that out and fill the fecker up!!!

Swearwolf · 12/01/2024 11:42

I was feeling a bit thinner, but this morning I'm feeling like that was an illusion! I'm still eating better than I was, and I haven't been drinking alcohol which has definitely cut a few calories. I'm going to weigh in on Monday and see how I'm doing. I did get back on the exercise wagon last night with a very gentle and slow run, I didn't want to overdo it as I'm only just over the covid, but it was fine and I feel positive today!

Swearwolf · 12/01/2024 11:44

@theshellbeach if you're having scale issues, could you measure yourself instead? Just in a couple of key places where you notice the weight. I used to track my waist measurements.

Thank you.
I was actually thinking of doing this.
How often would you suggest?
I've got ten stone to shift and I'm a size 22.

I was thinking of putting 6 x 500ml bottles of water in the fridge, and refilling them every night.
Then I'll be able to see how many more I need to get through.

rockingbird · 12/01/2024 12:28

That's not a bad idea @TheShellBeach
I have to drink more water - almost every diet says that so there has to be some sort of truth in it.. here's hoping lol

Feeling quite down about the amount of weight I've put on, I don't feel healthy at all and nothing fits. Keeping focused 💪

I guess it depends on how strict or gentle a diet you're planning, but I might do it once a week and weigh once a month or so.
