Anyone else up for sorting their shit out, starting tomorrow 1st Jan.

I need a complete overhaul, I'm far too fat and look a mess. It's making me feel miserable so I'm going to do something about it.

I would love some company.

Well done @rockingbird! I've been exercising too, I've been for a run three mornings in a row. I don't plan to do every day, but if I can run three or even four times a week, I will eventually see a difference.

It's so hard to keep it up when progress is so slow, but I just keep thinking that if I do I will eventually see some results, while if I stop I have no hope. I'll get to summer either way, and will either be slightly smaller or the same size (and annoyed with myself). It's the paper towel effect in action and I just have to wait until that roll gets smaller!

rockingbird · 16/01/2024 16:01

That's a very good way of looking at it actually! I was so self conscious last summer - refuse to feel that way again this year! Prawn salad for lunch, water and only one coffee today. Resisting the urge to snack before after school clubs..

Swearwolf · 17/01/2024 08:19

How is everyone getting on this week? I'm doing reasonably OK, though I am just making porridge with sugar which shouldn't be in my plan. I'm just back from the first yoga class of the year and it was HARD! I've lost so much strength, my focus needs to be on building it back up. I think I'll try to do something at home on Friday lunchtime.

Keep forgetting to get weighed but since the 1st of January to today I've lost 10 lbs.
Im quite pleased with that as I haven't done as much exercise as I planned but im definitely going to do more 💪🏼

Sorry, wrong thread.

dancinginthewind · 17/01/2024 22:43

I've just fallen into a bag of Colin the Caterpillar faces. I don't even like them! They're so sweet and artificial. I only meant to have one to see what they were like. It just shows that, once I touch sugar, I can't stop whatever it is.
Otherwise, my food has been exemplary this week. The scales aren't budging though! Those faces are probably enough to prevent them moving at all this week.
I'm hardly moving at the moment. Short days, freezing weather & busy at work mean that I'm either at my desk or sat on the sofa. I need to motivate myself to get out & go for a walk; even if it's just a short one

I listened to this Michael Mosley podcast about weight loss earlier on, it was interesting (you can search it on BBC sounds if you don't want to click on the link).

I'm still trying to drink more water and eat less cake, and I've been for 2 walks and a run today because it's been so clear and beautiful. We will see if that translates into weight loss in a couple of days.

My trouble with this weather is that it isn’t ’clear and beautiful’ to me. It’s just fucking freezing and depressing. I can’t go out in it and I’m depressed and comfort eating as a result I’d prefer dull and cloudy and temp in double figures. Even rain would be better. I hate this weather. I really can’t cope with cold.

Hedonism · 19/01/2024 07:39

Fair enough.

I'm a summer girl really but I am trying my hardest to embrace the winter. I hate it when it is dull and cloudy for days on end, it makes me feel really meh.

Same! Give me freezing sunshine over grey and rainy any day. I've been trying to get out as much as possible as it's going to turn in the next few days. I've run four times this week!

cardibach · 19/01/2024 16:14

I’m glad for you @Swearwolf
It just makes me miserable and grumpy. The fact it’s sunny just makes it even more unbearably cold. It actually hurt when I went to catch the train to work this morning. Tried to keep my face warm with a scarf and in seconds it was wet and cold and horrible because I’d breathed on it. It’s even cold inside. At least with rain I can stay in and be dry.

Swearwolf · 19/01/2024 16:20

I'm not sure where you are @cardibach but over here it's supposed to warm up loads over the weekend!

Yes, today is the last really cold day. But then it’s going to be windy, which just makes everything feel cold…
Winter is just shit.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 19/01/2024 21:14

After a week of being able to eat properly after last weekend's bug - and a sneaky KFC (although I didn't eat the chips as they were rank and I had 2 bits of chicken for my dinner that day) - I'm still below 12stone. 11,13 this morning.

littlemousebigcheese · 19/01/2024 23:08

Been on orlistat for two weeks now and lost nothing 🫤 don't think it's working for me. I've been eating low fat meals

Swearwolf · 20/01/2024 09:52

Don't give up yet @littlemousebigcheese, it might just take some time to start working. Give it another couple of weeks maybe. How are you feeling on it?

Swearwolf · 20/01/2024 09:54

After a fairly successful few weeks, I overdid it last night with three massive glasses of wine. I feel gross this morning and annoyed with myself as I know I'll see it on the scales on Monday! Will not be doing that again!

littlemousebigcheese · 20/01/2024 10:23

I don't feel great! Was worried about 💩 but had the opposite effect and felt very constipated for about 10 days. Stomach cramps as well, so at the moment it feels like hassle with no pay off

Swearwolf · 20/01/2024 11:54

If you've been constipated that might account for the lack of weight loss? I would stick with it for a bit longer and see if it all settles.

Orlistat does cause constipation if you eat low fat and take a tablet.
My friend got quite ill using them

littlemousebigcheese · 20/01/2024 16:08

That's the thing I'm confused about; the leaflet and dr told me to eat low fat meals with them but that seems to be contradictory to the point of them?! I thought they stop too much fat being absorbed but if I'm eating low fat then I don't need them?!

No you only need a table if you eat a meal containing quite a bit of fat.

Zanatdy · 21/01/2024 10:51

I’m on day 20 and 6lbs down. Not cheated at all, been tough but happy

Swearwolf · 21/01/2024 14:58

That's amazing @Zanatdy!
