A fresh new month; perfect time to re-set the mind, outline goals and affirm intentions. A fresh start to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to stay healthy, lose weight as well as those who wish to maintain; to encourage a healthy & varied diet and to exercise.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 1lb. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back (mainly) on track. I Would love to wave bye to another half a stone 😬 The main thing is to never give up! Keep going!

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

PS - Positive thought:- If you were to lose on average of a 1lb per you could be a stone lighter by Christmas 🎄

@Ninjachicken yeah, I think it's a tale as old as time: they suddenly become changed men only when they're about to lose everything. Not all the times when they could've chosen freely to do the right thing and put you first.
I'm so glad you're taking care of yourself. You've been through the mill.

ImALittlePea · 20/10/2023 07:34

Well done everyone who has weighed so far this week!

I find the changing of the seasons really plays havok with my resolve, especially the onset of autumn/winter. I physically feel weaker when the temperature drops, I feel like I'm wading rather than walking and can feel faint, so I have to respond with extra sugar to get through those moments.

Thankfully that hasn't impacted too much this week - just over 1/2lb off today 😅 starting the half term with some positivity - I'm hoping I don't derail too much with the week off 😬

@Weatherwax13 @Ninjachicken you've both been through so much this year. It's lovely to still see you here, be kind to yourselves ❤️

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 20/10/2023 07:56

Me too@ImALittlePea. I just can't get a grip on healthy eating at all this last month. Too much chocolate here but I've been and still am under the weather for the past month so it's not surprising. I'll make some soup today and I've told myself I must have a week of porridge, Greek yogurt and berry compote, and veggie soups for the next week to reset my system.

Hope everyone is safe from the storm. We are in an Amber area and it's wild out there.

Weatherwax13 · 20/10/2023 08:38

Thankyou @ImALittlePea
I do dip in and out to keep up to date, but I have got out of the habit of posting.
I'm maintaining pretty much within 1kg either side of TW which is a miracle given very inconsistent eating habits atm!
Lovely to see everyone being so supportive as always:)

ImALittlePea · 20/10/2023 09:23

It's a tricky transition @JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots I don't normally crave sweet things but I really have this last week.

You know there's no expectations here @Weatherwax13, I don't post as often as I used to either. The support never waives though, you're right! Loveliest group 🥰

TheRealHousewife · 20/10/2023 10:15

Belatedly reporting my 1lb loss from wow. Haven't done well since though. Work stress has seen me comfort eating. But you're right @TheRealHousewife - 11 days left to turn it back around. There was me ready to give in and start a fresh in November - ha ha! Nail on the head too @ImALittlePea about the weather and lower energy. I feel like a sack of spuds.

TheRealHousewife · 20/10/2023 13:13

@buzzofthebumblebee Congratulations on your loss! Plus, that’s the spirit! Never chuck in the towel as every morning is a clean slate. Put any misdemeanour's behind you and just start afresh 😬

Thanks for that kick up the bum for the weekend @TheRealHousewife (though I am reading with a glass of wine in my hand 😂). Aiming not to overindulge this weekend and keep up the exercise!

2Early4Breakfast · 20/10/2023 20:45

Had a fairly stressful fortnight at the beginning of this month. Didn't gain, usually stress means junk. Got back on track this week, and have lost half a kilo, weighing in at 111.8 kg today.

I was looking back at old weight loss threads that I was on through this year. Lots of effort and re-sets, but I'm more confident now that I have an eating plan that suits me and my lifestyle.

DownUdderer · 22/10/2023 07:29

I'm hoping to have a good week this week. I'll need to weigh in tomorrow morning and see where I'm at after a week of having my head in the sand.

HunterBidensLaptop · 22/10/2023 09:46

Can I join, please? The opening post resonated with me because I'm definitely on the wrong side of 12 stone. I wasn't- but it has crept back on after a busy time of moving jobs and general life stuff. I took my eye off the ball, and now I'm back from holiday at 12 st 7. I know what I need to do, I just need to give myself a kick up the arse!

Newname2308 · 22/10/2023 09:51

Just back from a week’s holiday, so I need to get straight back to logging everything in my app, cutting back the alcohol and getting up the nerve to start weighing again!
I’m actually looking forward to getting back to IF after letting it all slip while on holiday.
SW was 70kg, and last weight before holiday was 67.1. I need to be ok with whatever I’ve put on….

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 22/10/2023 10:49

Slogging away here and dropping slowly and surely. It's half term now though and we are away two days. There'll be about 12 miles walking each day we are away though so I will enjoy but not go mad. I'm taking a packed lunch the first day but the second day is McDonald's all the way. It's a rare thing so why not. It's not like it's summer and we can sit in the park with a healthy picnic.
My aim is to be 54kg by Christmas. That's about 2kg away so easily done.

WeirdPookah · 22/10/2023 16:15

Yesterday wasn't great, had a kids party to attend and they always stress me out, the noise, the socialising/masking. So ended up feeling so jittery anxious and added garlic bread to the calorie budgeted for pasta bake I'd left my husband to put on while I was out.

Today is a bit better, been on a fairly decent walk, back late for lunch, but what I made didn't go overboard, and dinner is in the oven and sorted. Had a couple of biscuits, but stopped after 2.

sadie93 · 22/10/2023 16:56

Dipping my toes in here because I ordered my wedding dress this week so time to get serious about getting back into shape! 10 months to go.

I'm unfortunately STILL trying to drop a lot of lockdown weight. I've lost a stone over the last two years but have at least 2 more to go - haven't decided on a goal yet, just going to aim to lose 1lb a week and see how I go.

I'm calorie counting and walking a lot, with the aim to get my fitness back up after a recent injury so will slowly build back up to working out.

Anyway here we go!

wiltingflower · 22/10/2023 17:33

It's been a while since I last posted, work has been busier than usual as I'm picking up the slack for others and new tasks have been added onto my workload. @TheRealHousewife I'm so sorry to hear about your poor dog, I hope they're recuperating ok and that you're feeling better too.

I've not exercised as much as I would have liked because of work and stress, sometimes when I get home I just want to sleep and that's it.

I've not eaten too unhealthily as such but there's been 3 days where I had to have dinner with work colleagues and this tended to be ultraprocessed but I did have small portions. I weigh daily and carbs and salty food tends to make the scales tip higher, possibly water weight though.

My WoW was 55.6, the week before 55.8, and the week before this 56.2kg. I can see there's changes in weight happening. My weight looks like it might have plateaued over the week and last week, I'm not really sure but this coming WoW will be useful to compare against.

I've got quite a few events happening over half term and 1st week of November so I need to be careful of what and how much I eat because of this.

Overall I am feeling healthier than before and have better habits. I've worked out what good portion control looks like and am not stopping myself from eating foods. I've stopped weighting my food daily over the past couple of weeks because the batteries in the kitchen scales ran out so I had to really try and memorise weights of foods. I'm not forcing myself to finish meals, I'm not feeling guilty with food waste and I feel able to say no to food based on how full my tummy feels. I have less stomach pain from overeating but bloating is still a thing.

TheRealHousewife · 22/10/2023 18:31

Afternoon

After the indulgent chocolate pud and fresh cream I’ve had today it’s safe to say my weight will be up 😬

@WhatWouldTheDoctorDo Youre welcome & 😅 🍷

Well done on your loss @2Early4Breakfast 👍

Welcome to the thread @HunterBidensLaptop & @sadie93 You'll both soon get into it and once you see positive changes/weight loss in progress you’ll gain momentum to keep going 🤞 (hopefully 😅)Congratulations on your upcoming wedding Sadie x

Thank you @wiltingflower I think she’s through the worst. She’s been on her first short walk in 2 weeks today and that really perked her up ❤️ Welldone on your progress to date 👏👏👏

Happy Sunday evening all. I come to you from a Pizza Hut pizza coma, which seems to have been the theme of the weekend 🙈 we've had friends staying, so late nights, eating, booze and rugby watching. All fabulous - all now taking their toll!

The start of proper autumn / winter seems to have been a bump in the road for a few of us! I try to avoid "starting over on Monday", so I'm starting now (thank you @TheRealHousewife for the starting over summary!)

Half term this week, so exercise is going to be a push, but I will be focusing on healthy eating and lots of fun activities.

DomesticElf · 22/10/2023 21:47

I am checking in as well. Professional photos have been booked for early December, so that gives me a bit of time to drop some weight.
@LemonDrizzle23 now, that's what I call a weekend 😊
I am fantasising about getting a whole pizza to myself, with a bottle of red 😂. I have either been pregnant or breastfeeding since early 2020, so I haven't been drinking alcohol, but I love red wine! I do miss it.

I've been doing pretty well. I've tweaked IF to 15:9 rather than 16:8, and I am feeling much better. I slipped up only once so far this week, when DH tempted me with ice cream after lunch, otherwise no snacking and no 'junk', just normal home cooked food in normal portions.

I am planning to start Wall Pilates this week and further clean up my diet. Let's see what the scales say this week.

TheRealHousewife · 23/10/2023 10:24

Good Morning

I’ve caught a virus and don’t feel great so might not be around much this week.

Have a good week everyone ❤️

Hope you feel better soon @TheRealHousewife there's a lot of bugs doing the rounds just now.

WeirdPookah · 23/10/2023 20:47

@TheRealHousewife I hope you feel brighter soon.

It's half term and all the challenges that brings.

Been on a good walk today though, as went to get my flu vaccination, so took the children with me to go to the park at the health centre too.

Food ok, few extra bits I didn't need, but not too bad.

SaltySeaCat · 24/10/2023 07:51

Get well soon @TheRealHousewife
I've weighed in today and have lost a pound - not bad bearing in mind 2 meals out last week and a party at the weekend. It’s also taken me into the 9s so feeling very pleased!

SW 12 stone 7 (15th May)
CW 9 stone 13
TW 9 stone … 6?
Total loss 36 pounds 😁
