A fresh new month; perfect time to re-set the mind, outline goals and affirm intentions. A fresh start to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to stay healthy, lose weight as well as those who wish to maintain; to encourage a healthy & varied diet and to exercise.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 1lb. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back (mainly) on track. I Would love to wave bye to another half a stone 😬 The main thing is to never give up! Keep going!

PS - Positive thought:- If you were to lose on average of a 1lb per you could be a stone lighter by Christmas 🎄

Loss this week - only 1 pound

its definitely getting harder now as I don’t feel I’m eating very much although I did have a cheese fest on Friday at book group. I’m away this weekend so that’s likely to make it harder this week. So want to get to 10 stone and then 9 stone 13…!

Very small change of about 0.2kg this week. But after a weekend away, that's probably fair enough!

5% : 92.5

Aiming for a bigger loss next week. It's a good week for it. No major plans this weekend. No takeaways. Plus I have some time to exercise.

I've been unwell though with a stomach infection so that's why lost so much although have put some back on. Trying not to go back to bad habits like constant snacking, have been having crisps and chocolate again.
Also walked over 10,000 steps yesterday which is the most in a couple of weeks.

No change this week, but as a nasty cold combined with my period has led me to eat All The Carbs, I’m perfectly happy with this.

Think that's .2kg off this week - better off than on!
Family birthdays now over for the year - nothing planned for the next month - no more excuses.
Definitely helps me to vary what I do throughout the week - although the underlying premise of no UPF stays fixed.
Our Christmas starts on the 15th Dec - so that's my target date!!

Weighing in with 1.5lbs off. Pretty happy with that given this week I have been sleep deprived, pre-menstrual and down with a cold, all of which usually sends me to the snack cupboard.

Extra motivation at the moment as I am running a 10K a week on Sunday and would love to have a kg or so less to lug around by then!

I'm trying to lose 5lb of regain. I'm down 3lb today. I'm pleased. I guess it was bloating and water weight!

So now I'll focus on losing the other 2lb.

I had quite a good walk today and food has been pretty good. I'm going to have pan fried salmon and side salad for dinner. Yum. I also had a dip in the sea, that was nice. It's warming up over here :)

Just eating 1-9 mainly, although last night I slipped into my bad habit after a late shift: booze and snacks after midnight 😩🤣 Luckily it’s been an active week as far as steps at work so I’m still moving in the right direction ⬇️
Not getting my wish to go on holiday in the 66kg ballpark but I’m close enough. No weigh in for me next week 🏖

I may need to put a pause on 16:8 intermittent fasting for next month or two. It's not working with breastfeeding for me, I am not feeling well at all while doing it. I ate after my 'window' today and felt infinitely better. Will focus more on portion control and quality of what I am eating.

@DomesticElf breastfeeding is a beautiful thing, but it can definitely deplete you! Trying different things and approaches is a good idea. Slowly losing weight is still weight loss:)

I wore some lovely shorts today from two summers ago. I'm pleased they fit me again:)

Morning all! HUGE well done to all the fab results this week. You're such an inspirational bunch. Promise I'm going to try and be more engaged moving forward; life is just a bit non stop at the moment.

I'm just shy of 2.5lb down since Monday. 3lb off TW. I'm out for lunch today but feel motivated to make the best choice possible, depending where I'm going (friend is choosing so I don't know yet). DH is away tonight so I'm having a quiet night, normally I'd still have some wine but I'm going to have a cuppa and read my holiday book (which obviously didn't get much of a chance to read on holiday with a toddler 😉). Dinner will probably be jacket potato, beans and cheese - something simple, anyway.

The weather here has definitely turned! Feel so cheated out of the seasons this year. Last year we had such a late summer and hardly any autumnal weather, this year hardly any summer and a very prompt autumn! I'm not complaining too much mind you - autumn is my favourite season, I love boots and jumpers!

How is everyone? Anything exciting going on this weekend?

Morning all. Another loss this morning and I'm glad to be back on track. I have a stinking cold and feel rotten so soup for dinner today and who knows what for lunch. Maybe an iced finger or 2 😬

Thanks @bubuzzofthebumblebee - I'll have a look and order some. Think knowing I've got them in my arsenal just in case I feel eugh on the day will make me feel a whole lot better! I was initially really worried about how I'd lose weight and maintain my milk supply but so far so good - phew! I've been using the nutracheck app and that estimated daily calories based on if you're breastfeeding and how much and I've been pleasantly surprised at being able to lose whilst eating more than I've been able to in the past when not bf. Although definitely still agree with @DomesticElf that the bf is depleting and I've still been feeling pretty hungry so trying to go slow and steady ish with it. It's very tempting to try and speed it all along though with this wedding coming up and just wanting to feel back to normal (ish) in my own body, so thanks for the supportive words and the reminder not to go too bonkers with it too quickly 🌻

Another loss of 0.6 kilos this week. I'm just about on track for my initial goal weight in the time I hoped to be but stating on track with the calorie counting seems to be getting trickier. I have a busier day today so hopefully the rushing about will make it easier and take my mind off things.

@DomesticElf I know what you mean about the water guzzling! The thirst with bf took me by surprise! It's a right pain... Especially when baby has finally fallen asleep on you and you find yourself desperate for a wee! Lol Congrats on your LO 💐😊 and congrats on the progress everyone!

@DomesticElf Sending respect your way. Breastfeeding is fantastic for both you and your baby and it’s insightful for you to acknowledge that 16:8 isn’t the way to go at the moment. I’m sure you’ll soon find a new way to carry on your health journey where you'll feel much better in yourself ❤️

Pizza for lunch out today (doesn't happen often!) so just a small bowl of soup tonight (homemade spicy Thai butternut squash).

Calorie counting this week has made me cut right back on junk and stop snacking in the evening. Definitely needed this to get me back on track!

Listening to a podcast with Dr Mindy Pelz on the impact of menstrual cycle and menopause on our bodies/energy/exercise etc - really interesting!

We have a birthday here tomorrow so it's going to be calorific!

Today was very bad for will power, but I've made it through unscathed. Managed to keep sugar (and alcohol) cravings at bay this evening with an elderflower cordial and slimline tonic. By-passed the enormous toblerone in the kitchen too. Not mine, and thankfully not open, otherwise who knows what damage it could have caused.

I'm inspired by all your losses to keep plodding on, one day at a time. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

I've been bad the last 2 days with snacking and had a few glasses of wine which didn't help. Felt I was starting a cold last night and now feel rubbish, considering I haven't been anywhere except short walks!
Haven't put any weight on though thank goodness.

Happy Monday gang!

Starting the week strong with an exercise class already in the bag 💪

Meals:
L - breakfast style burrito.. 2 rashers of bacon, half a red pepper, 2 eggs, cheddar and ketchup in a wrap
D - wrap pizza and wedges

... I've just realised I'm having wraps for lunch and dinner today 🤦‍♀️ I had to change the menu as haven't had time to get the planned chilli in the slow cooker before work, and I only have a tiny window after picking the kids up to get fed and back to work for the evening shift. Ah well! If I'm home in super speedy time maybe I'll try and knock a v quick chilli out instead 😬
