A fresh new month; perfect time to re-set the mind, outline goals and affirm intentions. A fresh start to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to stay healthy, lose weight as well as those who wish to maintain; to encourage a healthy & varied diet and to exercise.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 1lb. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back (mainly) on track. I Would love to wave bye to another half a stone 😬 The main thing is to never give up! Keep going!

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

PS - Positive thought:- If you were to lose on average of a 1lb per you could be a stone lighter by Christmas 🎄

Returning the Monday wishes!
Have had a good start to the week. Day out in town, with a very tasty / fairly healthy, lunch. And knocked out 11,000 steps.

Car in for a service tomorrow, so can't get to the gym, so will attempt a walk instead.

Weight does seem to be creeping slowly downwards. Not as fast as I'd like! But definitely down instead of up for the first time in about 3 years. It's a good feeling!

DomesticElf · 17/10/2023 09:54

Tuesday weigh in here:

SW: 70kg
CW: 64kg
TW: 50kg

Yee haw! 1kg down from last week <fist bump in the air>

ImALittlePea · 17/10/2023 10:15

Well, yesterday got derailed 🤦‍♀️ I realised ten minutes before picking the eldest up that it was parents evening! So my cooking window vanished, as I had to go straight from work - to school - parents eve - to nursery - home to eat - back to work. We ended up getting takeaway, I had a small chicken shish with lots of salad and some chips. I'm hoping that my lack of snacking and a full day on my feet (and lots and lots of water) means it won't have been too detrimental.

Today:
L - either scrambled eggs and beans, or cup-a-soup special (although pre-11am feels a bit ok the early side for that lunch. Weird how psychologically some food has certain windows that it's acceptable to be eaten)
D - the wrap pizza and homemade wedges or chips that we should have had yesterday. Might do sweet potato if we have some.

Wahoo to that @DomesticElf well done!

That's excellent @LemonDrizzle23 slowly slowly can be frustrating but it's the best way, ultimately, and gives the best chance of the weight loss being sustainable longer term. Keep going!

TheRealHousewife · 17/10/2023 17:50

Hi Everyone

Ive had a very stressful 6 days due to my dog being very poorly. I think she’s through the worst of it, thank heavens🤞. At one bit we thought we might lose her 😢. Hence my appetite totally went and I've weighed in at my lowest for quite a long time - 8st 12lbs.

@PatienceOfEngels your soup sounds right up my street 😋

@buzzofthebumblebee that sounds an excellent swap to keep the alcohol cravings at bay 👍

@Bikechic A Belated Happy Birthday! Welcome back from your holiday.

@ThriceInALifetime Hope you’re soon feeling better!

@LemonDrizzle23 WOW 11,000 steps is impressive 👏👏👏

@ImALittlePea Working mums are absolutely super stars! I don’t know how you fit everything in!

@DomesticElf Congrats on your loss! Every bit takes you nearer to goal.

I started making a soup today. Chucked in chopped carrot, sweet potato, celery, onion, garlic, fine green beans, white cabbage, leek, red pepper, green & red chillies, red lentils, brown rice, quinoa, chicken stock, miso paste, red Thai paste, salt and pepper. It ended up more like a rather extravagant risotto type dish😬 Very easy and very tasty.

Hello - sorry to hear about your dog @TheRealHousewife but glad she’s on the mend now.

Well done everyone on losses this week.

I weighed myself this morning:

SW 12 stone 7 (15th May)
CW 10 stone exactly
GW 9 stone 6 (I think)

So I’ve lost 1 pound this week (and 2.5 stone in total) and only one more pound to go until it starts with a 9! I am finding it so much harder though now.

Have got 3 nights out this week, so not sure I’ll make the 9s but 🤞

TheRealHousewife · 17/10/2023 19:39

@SaltySeaCat Thank you. You’ve done marvellously since May. I agree weight loss slows down the nearer to goal we get. Frustrating!

OP posts:
ImALittlePea · 17/10/2023 20:23

Wow @SaltySeaCat what an amazing loss since May!! Agree also that the last few lbs are the slowest, and therefore the most frustrating when they feel within grasping distance, but sticking to it at this point is massively beneficial when it comes to maintenance.

@TheRealHousewife so sorry to hear about your stressful week, glad pooch is on the mend 🤞they can be such a worry, these pets of ours! That's very kind of you to say, although it's funny - I always feel like I'm not doing enough as I only work part time. So easy to see ourselves in a different light isn't it.

Today I ended up having 2 x bacon, 2 x fried egg and a slice of toast for brunch before work. Had the inevitable sugar crash mid shift and felt starving, chef offered to make me something but I stuck to a cuppa. It blows my mind the impact bread has on me; I know if I hadn't had the toast, I'd have not felt hungry. Might be having a glass of wine (or two) tonight 😬 but I'm around my happy zone, so I don't mind for one night.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 17/10/2023 22:33

For the umpteenth time I plan to get back on it. It's been a bit h of year with bereavement and injury, but, touching wood I feel both mentally and physically well enough to concentrate on weight loss.

So putting this back on my threads. Looking forward to catching up on how everyone is doing.

DomesticElf · 18/10/2023 03:58

@TheRealHousewife I'm sorry to hear about your dog, it's very stressful when they are unwell.

Congratulations on all the losses this week!

I am feeling deflated. Got our photos back from family/newborn photosession from 2 weeks ago. I don't know what I was expecting miracles, but the reality of how I look hit home hard. I am so used to seeing myself in a slimmer pre-pregnancy weight, this was a complete shock to the system. Shapeless round face, collection of chins, spherical body, even my haircut doesn't suit heavier me. I haven't looked this bad ever. Not even after my first pregnancy.
I've got another 15kg to lose, but it's going so slowly despite all the efforts.
At least my kids look good.

Weatherwax13 · 18/10/2023 05:32

@TheRealHousewife sorry to hear about the stress. It's not the weight loss method we want! Really hope your pup is on the mend.

Bomblette · 18/10/2023 07:26

Sorry to hear about the dog @TheRealHousewife - hope she’s feeling better.

I’m in a grump as I’ve put on a pound this week. Can’t blame anyone but myself, it’s been a disruptive week, but I need to find a way to stick to the diet when things are manic.

Kazziek · 18/10/2023 07:31

SW 83.9
CW 83.1
GW 82.0

Slowly getting there! Not bad considering I had a day off plan at the weekend!

NothingTraLaLa · 18/10/2023 07:57

Glad your dog is on the mend @TheRealHousewife

No change in my weight for the last two weeks, which is annoying after a fast-losing September but not really surprising given what I’ve been eating. Still, it’s not a gain and I did want to lose slowly while not depriving myself too much so I think that counts as staying on plan.

SW 128 lbs
CW 120.8 lbs
TW 119 lbs

Newbornmum · 18/10/2023 09:25

Hi Everyone 🌻 Well done on the losses! I will catch up properly on the thread soon. DS is starting to cry... again! 😳😴🤯

This week the scales have shown me I don't lose as much if I cheat on my calorie counting - I have only really stuck properly to my goal 1 day this week and need to do a decent meal plan and get back on it. Made the mistake of thinking a few hundred calories extra here and there won't make any difference. Bridesmaid duties in under 3 weeks eeeek. Still a loss though of 0.5 (phew!) so trying to use that as motivation.

SW 64
CW 55.7
GW 52/50 (?) Not sure yet

Ninjachicken · 18/10/2023 11:53

WOW 54.7kgs. This is the lowest I have been in 15 years, since I had my son. I know a lot of the loss has been due to the stress of my separation this summer but it still feels good!

congratulations to everyone who has lost and well done to everyone carrying on and staying determined if you have not seen the results you want. As long as we keep going it will come off, even if it is slow!

hope your dog is still on the mend @TheRealHousewife

how are you doing @Weatherwax13

have a good week everyone 🍾

ThriceInALifetime · 18/10/2023 12:16

SW- 11st 6
CW- 10st 12

Weight the same as last week which I'm not surprised as went back to snacking and bad habits. I just have no willpower!
I now have a cold which is very annoying, hoping to get back to jogging next week which will hopefully help.

Sorry about your dog @TheRealHousewife , we now have an older dog, they quickly become part of the family. Although she can be hard work at times!

Well done everyone.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 18/10/2023 12:46

No change this week :/ I guess the wine and puddings have caught up with me. Best behavior now!

TheRealHousewife · 18/10/2023 13:39

Good Afternoon

Thank you all for the good wishes in regards to my beloved pet dog. I think she is through the worst of it, thank heavens!

WOW - 8st 11lbs. My appetite has returned today so I’m expecting a gain next week 😬

Sending positive vibes @WhatWouldTheDoctorDo 👍

@DomesticElf Giving a big hug. I know nothing I say will help you feel better but be assured you will look much better in real life when you’re animated, smiling and just being you! I do get the shock you describe. It was seeing a photo of myself shoe horned into a small racy soft top sports car that got me making more healthy choices. I clearly remember shame I felt but now realise that feeling was misplaced. I was not post pregnancy. Your body has made and carried a full little human. That’s awesome and I’d like you to feel proud of your body which ever stage of your journey you’re on ❤️

TheRealHousewife · 18/10/2023 13:48

@Kazziek well done on your progress 👏

@NothingTraLaLa Plateaus are frustrating, but like you say, better than a gain 😬

@Newbornmum Im sure you’re doing your best; especially considering you have a young baby to look after. Mums are awesome 🙌

@Ninjachicken Congratulations on your new low! Awesome achievement! 👏👍👌(sorry about your separation)

@ThriceInALifetime Re-set yourself and set yourself up for a small success next WOW 👍

@LivingDeadGirlUK Sometimes in life the puds and wine win. At least you know what you need to do in order to reverse the trend 👍

Kitchen smells lovely … got a Christmas Cake baking. I’ve deliberately not made it Gluten Free so that I can’t have any 🎄😬. Nearer to Christmas I will made some small gf frangipani topped mince pies though 😅

Weatherwax13 · 18/10/2023 17:27

Hey @Ninjachicken from your previous posts it sounds like the separation is the right choice for you. Can identify with the resulting weight loss! I dropped 3kg in a week after D Day with my H. I'm still recovering from the resulting breakdown so I'm not making a final decision yet but at this stage I'm erring towards kicking him out. He's like a changed person but it feels too late. I hope you have a sense of peace even though I'm sure it's hard.

PatienceOfEngels · 18/10/2023 17:39

SW 77kg (4.10.23)
CW 74.6
GW 68kg

-0.7kg this week! I know it always goes quicker at the beginning but super pleased with this!
Lovely walk through the woods with a friend today, restarted yoga at home the last 2 days, and feeling positive (despite terrible allergies - can't stop sneezing!).

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 18/10/2023 23:22

Thanks for vibes @TheRealHousewife getting out of bed is an achievement some days just now, but I'm determined.

Right, I have my re-starting weight - 10 stone 12. 1st goal, to get to 10 st 4. Slow and steady. Back on the calorie tracking today. Here goes!

DownUdderer · 19/10/2023 07:30

I've been all over the place this week. Too many snacks and really mindless eating.

Every time I say to myself that next week will be less stressful, it's more stressful.

Well done on everyone's losses.

WeirdPookah · 19/10/2023 07:47

I haven't been about much, been my birthday and I am feeling really crap still, very down. Ate a bunch of stuff over my birthday and my weight was a pound up, so need to sort that and lose SOMETHING before October is a complete bust.

Ninjachicken · 19/10/2023 08:51

@Weatherwax13 it is hard but I do think it was the right thing. My ex is like a changed person too and it’s frustrating that it took me leaving for him to change! Though it is probably quite common!
it must be difficult if you still aren’t sure what the right choice is for you.
i am trying to take time to do the things I enjoy and that are calming like reading and crochet. It is hard getting used to being on my own as I have never lived alone. I have my daughter every other week
i am trying to concentrate on self care 😁
