A fresh new month; perfect time to re-set the mind, outline goals and affirm intentions. A fresh start to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to stay healthy, lose weight as well as those who wish to maintain; to encourage a healthy & varied diet and to exercise.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st 1lb. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back (mainly) on track. I Would love to wave bye to another half a stone 😬 The main thing is to never give up! Keep going!

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

PS - Positive thought:- If you were to lose on average of a 1lb per you could be a stone lighter by Christmas 🎄

First weigh in since my half term holiday last week (back on Saturday but gave myself a couple of days to get back into vaguely normal eating patterns!). Excited to see I’m the same weight, no gain, so am delighted and feeling much more positive about continuing the weight loss journey into winter.
SW 8/9 70 kg
23/10 67.1

LemonDrizzle23 · 24/10/2023 08:11

@DomesticElf these things always seem more tantalising when off limits don't they! It was a good weekend, and I took part in everything, just tried to avoid the extras (had fewer drinks, no popcorn snacks etc.)

It's very easy to see social gatherings as a time to indulge, but then if they're every weekend, it can counteract all your hard work during the week. Something I am slowly and painfully learning 😂

WeirdPookah · 24/10/2023 11:09

Feeling a bit aching after flu vaccination yesterday.

Dull, wet day out there, hoping maybe we can get a short walk this afternoon.

Meal plan set, avoided a snack when getting children theirs this morning.

B: black bean burrito
L: Dry vegetable curry
D: Eggs, potato wedges and peas/corn

DownUdderer · 25/10/2023 06:40

I weighed in and then again today and I've shifted a pound over three days. Phew. I'm still up a couple of pounds from where I was. I'd be glad to lose them again.

ImALittlePea · 25/10/2023 06:40

Morning all! Half term has been a mixed bag so far - and is going by in a total blur. There have been too many indulgences overall but not all bad choices (eg had my cup-a-soup special for dinner last night to try and balance out the McDonald's for lunch 👀🤦‍♀️)... But I'm fully expecting a gain come Friday weigh in. Going to try and make better choices and up up up the water to try and flush out some bloat before then! I've also stuck to my no midweek wines so far, I'm working tonight and exercising tomorrow night so it'll be a rare half term without a "f*ck it" moment part way through 😂

Good luck to everyone WoWing today 🤞

Hope you're feeling a bit better @TheRealHousewife

LemonDrizzle23 · 25/10/2023 07:04

School holidays are always hard I think. Out of routine and doing more "fun" stuff, which often includes eating away from home.

Small 0.3kg loss here this week. Need to get back into exercise, but probably won't happen til after half term other than the odd walk. In the last couple of days, I've started weighing out the "15g" of mayo and chocolate spread I log when I eat them. Turns out I have been in a fantasy land about what 15g looks like 😬 so definitely haven't been calorie tracking that accurately!! You live and learn.

SW: 97.5kg
CW: 95.7kg
5% : 92.5kg

I hope everyone has a positive WOW 🤞🏻

HunterBidensLaptop · 25/10/2023 07:16

Thanks for the welcome @TheRealHousewife!

I'm down 3lb this Wednesday morning. Due to period arriving, drinking loads of water and a couple of fasting days to reset after my indulgent holiday.

Sw 12 St 7
Cw 12 St 4
TW 11 st 7

sadie93 · 25/10/2023 07:50

Hope everyone's WoW goes well!

I don't have a weigh in from last Wednesday because I was on holidays, but I'm down 2.6lb from the Wednesday before so I'm happy with that.

NothingTraLaLa · 25/10/2023 08:40

Morning everyone. Hope you’re feeling a bit better @TheRealHousewife .

I’m quite happy with almost a pound lost this week, although a combination of a long weekend city break plus DD’s birthday is likely to lead to a perfect storm of overindulgence, so I’m not sure I’ll manage to keep it off.

SW 128 lbs
CW 120 lbs
TW 119 lbs

WeirdPookah · 25/10/2023 11:19

I lost 4lb this week, so took off the pound gained and then some!

Total down 63.8 lbs

Into a new "tens" on the scale which is always a bit weird, I am pleased to do it, but somehow self sabotage seems more common when hitting little milestones like that.

Newname2308 · 25/10/2023 12:30

SW 70kg
25/10 66.6kg 🎉
TW 60kg

A sudden drop of 0.5kg in 24 hrs seemed unlikely , but I double checked. Had a busy and stressful couple of days, with little time to eat. Need to keep an eye on that, and do better with food while at work. Still, feeling encouraged to be in the 66kg zone!
I’ll need to adjust my TW though, because apparently it’s still too heavy for my height 😩

CupOfTia · 25/10/2023 14:14

I'm not doing brill with my chocolate addiction

That is all 😂

ThriceInALifetime · 25/10/2023 15:07

SW- 11st 6
CW- 11st

Have put on 2 lbs since last Wednesday which is annoying but not a huge surprise as have been back to bad habits of snacking on chocolate and crisps.
Also not able to start jogging again as still have a cold and cough. Just doing short walks.
Have downloaded My fitness pal to start logging foods to see if that helps to restrain me a bit when have to log everything!

Ninjachicken · 25/10/2023 15:30

WOW of 54,05 kgs, so very close to seeing 53 on the scale! Never in a million years did I think I would ever get to that again after having kids. I am still quite stressed a lot of the time and often find it hard to eat but it is still nice to see the weight come off
thanks @ImALittlePea for the encouragement. It’s nice to see there are still a few names from the beginning of the year holding on in here.
this group definately provides me with some comfort!
hope everyone has a good WOW!

fedupofbuilders · 25/10/2023 16:02

Tiny, tiny loss this week of 0.3kg...... but it is better than a gain.
I do need try a bit harder. My target is 60kg by Christmas - that is never going to happen at a rate of 0.3kg a week!
SW - 70kg
WOW - 65.7kg
I have a meal out on Thursday. It's a venue where the food is a bit 'meh'. I really would prefer not to waste the calories but the company will be good.
Will chose something like fish and chips - avoiding the limp salads and stick to lime & soda as Im driving. it will be a OMAD day.
It's approx 8 weeks until Christmas - so that needs a minimum of 0.5kg loss per week.
I can do this!

2Early4Breakfast · 25/10/2023 16:37

Down 0.4 kg to 111.4 kg over five days. I have so much to lose that I don't put myself under pressure with a target. I just try to keep going and change a lifetime of disordered eating. It would be nice to get below 13 st and stay there. The gp started on about my weight when I was 12st 3 lbs, at a check-up few weeks after my youngest was born. Strange to think that I would love to be that weight now.

wiltingflower · 25/10/2023 23:48

WoW 54.1kg

I think I've lost around 0.5kg or 1kg from last week. It's difficult to tell because although I track and record my weight daily I know that the food I eat affects it so I don't know whether to go from the last WoW or from the latest lowest recorded weight.

Either way I'm really happy and surprised, I wanted to get to 55kg for my birthday week and I've slightly exceeded it. I didn't want to be the same size I've always been each year since 12/14 years old because 65kg on me as a short person with little muscle always felt unhealthy and I really struggled.

Little wins- my jeans are a bit looser, my clothes generally fit a bit better.

I've found eating a mixed bag this week, possibly more of a struggle because I don't have the structure and busyness of work to take my mind off of eating and hunger. It's definitely been a hungry couple of days for the first time in weeks.

LemonDrizzle23 · 26/10/2023 07:54

@2Early4Breakfast I'm up in the 90s kg-wise, so also have a lot to lose. I do have a long term target in my head, but I'm concentrating on losing 5% of my body weight at a time. I do think it helps to have mini goals to work towards.
The happy scale app is quite good for this if you don't already have it.

Ninjachicken · 26/10/2023 09:54

@wiltingflower we have pretty much done the same thing. At my heaviest I was 68 kgs and I weighed today at 53.6 kgs. I am 5 ft 1 so any weight gain really shows
i am fitting into jeans that have not fit me for 10 years which does feel really good!
well done everyone! Keep on making healthy choices 🍾

Cherryblossom81 · 26/10/2023 10:18

Can I join you? (But I realise it's nearly the end of October! Will you keep going in November?)

@wiltingflower and @Ninjachicken I was wondering what is working for you? It sounds like my starting weight is similar to where you are at (I think?) but I could really do with losing a stone. I am quite short and have gradually gained a stone over the last year. I think I already eat quite well but clearly something has gone wrong! My BMI is still officially in the healthy weight range but I know I feel and look better at the lower end as every pound really shows.

Bikechic · 26/10/2023 12:43

Forgot to weigh yesterday, but down 1/2 lb this morning. Hanging in there. Keep it up everyone.

2Early4Breakfast · 27/10/2023 06:30

Tesco online keeps adding one of my most triggering binge foods to my Personalised Offers list. Unlike Favourites, I can’t edit it off the list, and I see it multiple times a week when I add to my order. It is starting to prey on my mind and I see it in my mind’s eye. I’m working hard at picturing green salad in a wrap, but I can almost feel myself tasting and eating the binge food. I know the algorithm is just doing its job, but right now I hate this so much.

ImALittlePea · 27/10/2023 07:33

Oh bums. Up by 1.5lb this week. Expected a gain - I've made a fair few sloppy choices this week - but not THAT much.

Bring on next week/month. Need to shift the 4lb that crept back on over summer and get back down to TW. I've definitely become lazy in my resolve and choices, so that ends now.

(Well, it ends Monday)

PatienceOfEngels · 28/10/2023 09:25

Late weigh in this week

SW 77kg (4.10.23)
CW 74.5
GW 68kg

-0.1kg this week but pleased it hasn't gone up as have had some difficult moment with tiredness and chocolate, and weight has swung between 74.9 and 74.4. Must drink more water.

Pleased to finish out the month -2.5kg in total. Heading into silly season here (not in UK and we have another seasonal celebration before Christmas that starts in a few weeks and involves lots of sweets, chocolate, spiced biscuits/ cakes with spiced almond paste) so need to make good choices, make life easy for myself by getting as little of that stuff in the house as possible (hard with DC) and make myself get off the sofa and out the house during these dark, grey days.

Meals for weekend:

  • boiled egg with rye toast (both days for brekkie)
  • spicy pumpkin soup
  • homemade pizza (mine with olives, mushrooms, pepper, mozzarella)
  • spinach omelette
  • homemade split pea soup (my husband's cooking, but I might make some bread to now with it)

The kids have requested a Halloween meal Tuesday but I cba to faff around making decorative stuff so am going to make Ghoul-ash and decorate the kitchen (they're not fans of savoury pumpkin dishes, so might make a pumpkin pie).

@LemonDrizzle23 that sounds like a good trick (5%) to keep motivated!

Good luck seeing out the rest of the month everyone and see you in November!

WeirdPookah · 28/10/2023 09:31

@PatienceOfEngels I am making a Halloween meal your children might like, but it can be pretty healthy, and you can even adapt yours without it being noticeable.

Get large bell peppers, cut Halloween pumpkin faces in them, and stuff with whatever you might want to stuff a pepper with!! I'm planning on vegetarian mince, tomatoes, short spaghetti "worms", the rest of my family will get cheese, I'm skipping it. Then bake!

These are not mine, just image grabbed from online.
