Have put on just over half a stone in the last few months. BMI still within range, but am short so makes a difference in how I feel and how my clothes fit.
Would love to think I could get it off in a few weeks, but realistically in my 50’s, menopausal plus being greedy and loving wine, this won’t be happening 😩.
I have signed up to Nutracheck as so much more user friendly than MFP and am hoping will keep me accountable.
I find daily weighing helps and will be trying to log my weight on here….

SW 60.8 kg
CW 60.8 kg
TW 55 kg

Would love some support from others feeling similar!

@Summerscomin i really don’t know how we change this!! I get frustrated with myself…. So many people manage to lose several stone and I can’t manage a few pounds!!!! I’m really lazy about food as well. I used to love cooking and trying new recipes, but since covid I find it all a huge chore.
Think it stems from everyone being home for every mealtime and no let up for months.
I often find myself missing dinner and grazing (mainly on rubbish) although I cook properly for my teenagers. Husband often eats a large lunch so he isn’t bothered.
I am full of good intentions and am a competent cook….but I cannot be arsed!!

Feeling fed up last night so caved and had ginger biscuits and a chocolate bar......
Avoided scales this morning.

Will try and claw it back but will probably take a couple of weeks after week of eating badly.

And the mince pies have started appearing in the shops......

iloveyoghurt · 27/09/2023 14:38

Its annoying to see the weight going back so quickly when you have very little to lose, even maintaining is challenging . I was 54.2 last Wednesday and today back to 54.7kg, haven't even overeaten massively, i had 2 days when i had 1600kcal instead of 1200/1300. It feels like unless we are very strict every single day the weight goes back and i feel like giving up again..

Summerscomin · 27/09/2023 21:22

@Lucie11 I almost found it easier when I had more to lose ie over a stone as I was worrying more that it'd get out of hand and i wanted to get on top of it before the mountain became bigger to climb. Now it's 'only' a few lbs (3 ideally, but I wouldn't mind a bit more) I just can't be bothered. I have one good day then several bad- today being one of them, involving pizza and a lot of dairy milk daim- I can't seem to sustain it.
I love cooking too but I get caught up in the mindset of, if I'm going to bother I want it to be absolutely delicious. Which doesn't always overlap with healthy!
@iloveyoghurt I find the same, it's demoralising and hard to be so strict all the time. Christmas looming isn't helping!

DearRose · 28/09/2023 14:10

Hello! Been AWOL for a while. Apologies!

SW 61.5kg
CW 57.9kg
TW 55kg

Plateaued here at around 58.2 to 58.5kg for over a week, today is the first day I've seen 57 on the scales (even if it is 57.9 🙄)

I'm also worrying about what will happen when I start to eat normally again, considering it's taking so long to lose 1kg only eating lunch and dinner. I've also been walking to or from work, which is 3.5 miles. I haven't had any snacks or many processed foods - maybe I'm going to have to cut out carbs as well?

I struggled to keep weight on in my 20s. I'm coming up for 40 and might have to admit this needs to be a long-term change...

Lucie11 · 28/09/2023 14:49

I had a surprise weigh in this morning…. Have been avoiding the scales as I’ve been making minimal effort.
Surprisingly down to 58.7kg….I don’t understand my body at all. Strict calorie counting equalled not much progress but seem to have lost a kilo with eating and drinking what I like.
Need to use this to spur me on, not to lull me into a false sense of security of thinking I can overindulge and still lose!!

SW 60.8kg
CW 58.7.kg
TW 55kg

Tested positive for covid this morning, so letting myself off being too strict as feeling a bit rough!

DearRose · 28/09/2023 21:45

@Lucie11 gosh, maybe I need to fall off the wagon too! Actually I'm meeting friends for lunch on Saturday, perhaps a day of indulging will do me good. Sorry to hear about the Covid, are you feeling grim?

BaconAndAvocado · 29/09/2023 09:24

I've gained a pound this week but I've been eating pretty much normally so I guess I'm not too dismayed with that.

Well done everyone for your losses!

Going to have my usual relaxed weekend food-wise and get back on the wagon on Monday.

Lucie11 · 29/09/2023 19:31

@DearRose, enjoy your lunch, that’s sounds like fun!

Feeling pretty ropey, just a very heavy cold really so could be worse. My first bout of covid a few years ago left me bed-bound for 10 days feeling the worst I’ve ever felt. Didn’t feel right for months afterwards, so grateful this time isn’t like that.
@BaconAndAvocado , a pound gain is good for eating what you like.
I’m feeling too crap to worry at the moment, but will get back on it once the covid has passed. Hopefully 😆

DearRose · 30/09/2023 07:33

I think I've managed to escape covid so far - crazy! Unless I've had it and haven't had symptoms.

I've put myself on diet holiday, which started last night. Until tomorrow. I even had some wine yesterday evening ☺️ and I'm going to have breakfast for the first time in a month. Very excited.

Back on it for October though! I start the new role so will need to make sure I can fit exercise around that.

BaconAndAvocado · 30/09/2023 11:35

Hope you feel ok soon Lucie11
The first time I got Covid my only symptom was loss of smell. It took months to return to normal, very bizarre.
Covid seems to be doing the rounds here too.

Just done the weekly online shop and DID NOT order anything mince pies.
Feeling quotes,uh 🤣
They are my downfall and I can only enjoy them when accompanied by a huge dollop of double cream.....

DearRose · 30/09/2023 19:32

OK plan of action for October:

Run 3 times a week
Evening walks if I've had an inactive day (how far I can walk in the day is currently toddler dependent)
Continue with no alcohol
Continue with intermittent fasting and no snacks, meals only
Swap lunch sandwiches for salad + protein at least a few times a week
Drink more water

Does anyone else have a plan? ☺️

DearRose · 30/09/2023 19:32

Well done avoiding the mince pies @BaconAndAvocado 😂

BaconAndAvocado · 01/10/2023 08:16

Thanks DearRose I am very proud of this achievement although I have a long way to go!!

My plan is pretty much identical to yours minus the running.
It sounds easy but it really isn’t!

GadgetArms · 01/10/2023 10:09

I'm anticipating a gain this week.

Been unwell and not exercised, eating not been the best.

I'm much less motivated during the winter months too.

Someone give me a kick up the backside!

DearRose · 01/10/2023 16:41

Come on @GadgetArms get your blooming act together mate! (A kick up the backside like that?) No seriously, you can do it ☺️ sorry you've been unwell too.

@BaconAndAvocado imagine if you manage to avoid mince pies until December!

BaconAndAvocado · 01/10/2023 17:00

DearRose
That will never, ever happen.

GadgetArms · 01/10/2023 19:18

@DearRose That's exactly what I need 😂

DearRose · 04/10/2023 18:55

How's everyone doing this week?

I've been reading an interesting book about UPF. Cutting out as much of the ultra processed food I eat as possible is definitely going to be part of the plan going forward!

Hope the Covid is getting better @Lucie11

BaconAndAvocado · 04/10/2023 21:43

Hey DearRose
Having a better week.....so far!

Trying not to eat anything between dinner and bed. God, it’s hard!

But when I do manage it, it means I’ve given my system a break for 14 hours which I think is highly beneficial.

BaconAndAvocado · 04/10/2023 21:44

I caved and bought some stollen cookies (yes, who knew?!) but I will not go near them until the weekend.

I really won’t.

DearRose · 05/10/2023 10:36

@BaconAndAvocado Glad you're having a better week. I'm doing 16:8 and it does seem to be working - even if just to adjust my perception of how much I need to eat in a day. I always had breakfast, a mid morning snack, lunch which usually included crisps and chocolate, more chocolate, an afternoon snack, dinner, and an evening snack.

Sounds so ridiculous written like that!

I used to be very active - active job, sporty/outdoors hobbies but I've moved to a city and have a toddler so my lifestyle is very different.

I definitely don't need loads of snacks any more.

I love stollen! Intrigued by the cookies. We'll need a review.

Currently 57.3kg as of this morning, I've been yoyoing a lot though.

Lucie11 · 05/10/2023 11:29

Sounds like everyone is doing well!

I am feeling better than I was, still not 100%. Needless to say, little effort has been given to diet….I haven’t been terrible, just felt too unwell to really care about calories or whether I should or shouldn’t be eating something!

Haven’t weighed, but feel about the same so not worrying too much. Going away for a week at half term, I’m hoping for damage limitation whilst away and then I will be on it before Christmas strikes!

Stollen cookies sound amazing…I love stollen bites and mince pies!!! Usually only buy one pack of stollen bites per year and limit myself to 2 or 3 mince pies. Especially as I like them warm with custard… even more calories 😂.
If only I could show the same restraint with wine and crisps!

OP posts:
BaconAndAvocado · 05/10/2023 13:07

DearRose
I’m impressed, 16:8 sounds tough! Is it something that your body quickly adapts to?

Yes, I will definitely provide a review on the Stollen Cookies after weekend consumption!

They're made by Baker Street who I’ve bought stollen bites from before and lived so it’s looking good.

Lucie11
Glad you’re feeling better and great that you’ve got a holiday to look forward to 😊

2 or 3 mince pies A YEAR?!?!
At peak season, that’s my weekly amount!
Maybe that’s where I’ve been going wrong…

DearRose · 06/10/2023 08:32

@BaconAndAvocado are you a fan of Christmas pudding too? I love it.

16:8 is not as horrific as I thought. I'm always excited for breakfast, so I was expecting it to be rough, but it's manageable. I've had a couple of mornings where I've also walked to work and have been counting down the minutes until lunch time. But it's an easy way to cut calories/reframing how you think about food. I definitely won't be going back to mid morning snacks for example.

Glad you're on the mend @Lucie11 are you going somewhere fun at half term?
