Have put on just over half a stone in the last few months. BMI still within range, but am short so makes a difference in how I feel and how my clothes fit.
Would love to think I could get it off in a few weeks, but realistically in my 50’s, menopausal plus being greedy and loving wine, this won’t be happening 😩.
I have signed up to Nutracheck as so much more user friendly than MFP and am hoping will keep me accountable.
I find daily weighing helps and will be trying to log my weight on here….

SW 60.8 kg
CW 60.8 kg
TW 55 kg

Would love some support from others feeling similar!

DearRose
I’m not overly keen on Christmas pud but enjoy it on the big day as part of the traditions.
I do make a Christmas cake in November and we all stir the mixture on Stir Up Sunday.

I’ve lost a pound this week and am back to 9st 8lb.

Meeting my eldest tomorrow in London for dinner and a show but I always relax food wise at the weekend so I’m just going to enjoy it.

Lucie11 · 07/10/2023 13:42

@BaconAndAvocado please don’t think as I only have 2 or 3 mince pies over the festive period that I have great self control! I can easily sink a bottle of wine and a share bag of crisps…and not give a damn about the calories which add up to significantly more than a mince pie 😂. I think if you are weight conscious, you tend to prioritise your favourite treat stuff and mine is always wine and salty snacks above anything else!!!

@DearRose am going to Spain for just under a week. Hoping the weather will be kind as it’s not guaranteed. Am a bit cross that feeling unwell has hampered my healthy eating intentions .
However, I just don’t care when I’m ill!
Hope everyone is having a good weekend

Hello!

More relaxed here this weekend as my sister's over, so I've made some lemon cake and we're having curry later.

Back on it from tomorrow though!

We've just ordered a Panasonic bread maker as I've been reading about UPF and would like to reduce our intake.

Can't remember if I said already but my secondhand Fitbit arrived yesterday too 😀

I'm definitely in on the wine and crisps @Lucie11 red wine is my favourite. Have a lovely holiday, fingers crossed for the weather!

DearRose · 09/10/2023 07:56

Weigh in today.

SW 61.5
CW 56.75
TW 55

Toot toot!

Have to try keep up the momentum - it would be nice to resume breakfast soon!

BaconAndAvocado · 09/10/2023 09:05

Well done you DearRose 🙌🏻🙌🏻
So close to your target weight now!

I can report that Stollen Cookies are delectable.
Much like a stollen anything but in flat, spherical form.

2 weeks until half term when things can go downhill!

Good luck losers 😊

DearRose · 12/10/2023 07:16

Hey!

Is anyone else finding that as soon as you go just a little bit off piste with the diet, the scales go up?

Very frustrating!

Makes me worried about how hard it's going to be to maintain 😬

Lucie11 · 13/10/2023 16:50

Hi all, apologies for the radio silence. I have felt exhausted since I had covid…proper bone crushing tiredness!
Have just been coasting along trying to not be too bad but haven’t been making much effort to be honest…
I was weighed at the drs today, 9st 4.5lbs…that was with leggings and a vest on and had already had a glass of water.
So, not terrible considering I’ve made zero effort in about 3-4 weeks!!!
@BaconAndAvocado and @DearRose you bit sound like you’re doing brilliantly.
@DearRose, sadly I think weight goes on really easily at times. It is indeed very frustrating and I’m afraid there’s no easy answer apart from constant vigilance 😬.
Have a great weekend

Hello! Sorry to hear you've been so poorly. What's your plan now @Lucie11 ?

I've eaten a load of junk today. It's my last day in my old job and I went a bit wild with the cake and chocolate. I'll have some wine later too.

I've decided to get back on the wagon tomorrow and be super strict for the next 2 weeks. Then at the end of the fortnight accept whatever weight I am and concentrate on maintaining that and not falling back into bad habits.

I feel like I can handle 2 weeks!

Lucie11 · 14/10/2023 09:12

@DearRose Thank you, I am feeling better but I think the tiredness has lingered a bit.
Going away tomorrow for a week. My plan is to enjoy the week, not go crazy….I don’t think ‘oh, I’m on holiday, I’ll eat and drink everything in sight’ but I also make sure I don’t miss out!
Hoping to maintain at current weight and then get back to it when I’m home.
I have accepted it will be slow going, so if I can get another 3 or 4 pounds off by Christmas that is ok.
And then try to lose a few more pounds in the New Year and then maintain so I’m the ideal weight for spring and summer.
I’ve realised now that losing half a stone in a month before a holiday just doesn’t work any longer!!! Very slow and steady seems to be how it will have to be now.
Your plan sounds like a good one, 2 weeks is no time at all to give it everything!

Hungryfrogs23 · 15/10/2023 18:17

Hi all,

Stollen cookies sound amazing!
Sorry you've been poorly @Lucie11 but glad you are on the mend.
@DearRose I think I accidentally do that because I am terrible at eating breakfast. My stomach doesn't wake up until mid morning! Evening snacks are my nemesis though.

After a rough couple of weeks health wise with both children and husband being ill, I have lost almost 4lbs. I think this loss is mostly the fact I haven't sat down for a fortnight!! Though in amongst the chaos I did eat an entire sharing bag of maltesers that my mum dropped off! So all in all, not bad.

SW 10st 5lbs (65.7kg)
CW 9st 1.6lbs (58kg)
TW 8st 8lbs (54.5kg)

GadgetArms · 16/10/2023 10:15

Sorry, not checked in for a while.

I seem stuck on 65kg ish.

I'm finding it hard, I think someone said up thread about if you let things slip you get punished on the scales!

I am doing great with the exercise, just can't control myself diet wise.

Good luck to everyone in the run up to all the nice Christmas food!!

Catchthebreezeandwinterchills · 17/10/2023 11:01

I need this thread, I had my heath check yesterday and am I’m usually 1/2 to 3/4 stone less. I have been stuck in the house as unwell and did eat too much over the last 3 weeks.

SW 63kg
CW 63kg
TW 58kg

I would really like to go for 55kg but being realistic.

DearRose · 17/10/2023 12:04

I've got covid 😭 first time for me. I'm not feeling horrendous at the moment, just a mild temperature and headache. So resting (as much as is possible with a 2yo and a poorly husband - he's had it quite badly) and have stopped 16:8 until I'm better.

Hi @Catchthebreezeandwinterchills 👋

What's your exercise routine @GadgetArms ? Yeah I've found as soon as I take my foot off the gas the scales start to go in the wrong direction again.

You're doing really well @Hungryfrogs23 !

BaconAndAvocado · 17/10/2023 12:12

Get well soon DearRose

I’m going completely off piste today, it’s DS2’s 17th birthday .

I’ve just made him a chocolate cake (eating far too much cake mix for my own good!) and we’re having an Indian takeaway tonight bu I aim to thoroughly enjoy it all.

GadgetArms · 17/10/2023 16:36

@DearRose oh no! Hope you feel better soon, and DH too.

I'm working from home at the moment so trying to get a long-ish run in once a week and 2 or 3 weights/treadmill sessions. I'm really enjoying it now I've got past the horribly unfit stage 🤣. Just need to stop snorting crisps!!

Lucie11 · 26/10/2023 19:17

Hi everyone, this thread has gone quiet!

Had a fab week away, didn’t feel like I went too mad but lots of wine and carbs were consumed…

Back to reality now. Have worn jeans this week for the first time in months and my god, they are TIGHT 😩.

Haven’t weighed because I’m depressed enough already. Have tried to be healthy since I’ve been back, but I actually feel a bit panicky at how heavy I feel. Work trousers also feeling extremely snug….

Hope everyone is doing well. Any tips on how to quickly drop a few pounds so I don’t feel like an overstuffed sausage?!

Glad you had a good break Lucie11

I've fallen back into unhealthy eating habits again but will get back on the healthy horse in Monday.

Got a girls' weekend in 4 weeks so would love to lose 5 or 6 pounds.

Unabletomitigate · 27/10/2023 17:54

I am hovering at 58-59 and my goal is 55.
I am down from 74, so overall very happy, but it would be nice to make the final step.

GadgetArms · 01/11/2023 09:38

Just checking in, I'm away for half term so things are taking a downward turn.

I've also had an up and down couple of weeks due to work etc so feel I've put on weight, clothes are tight.

What's everyone's secret to momentum over winter? Particularly Christmas.

Anyone also do on call work? I find it really upsets me diet, if I'm woken up at 3am I find I'm starving and reach for the toast!

BaconAndAvocado · 01/11/2023 11:31

GadgetArms I have zilch momentum over Christmas and eat exactly what I like, usually putting on a few pounds....which is why I’m hitting it now!

I’d like to lose about 4lb in 4 weeks which will put me at my lightest in years so my body is rebelling!

Lucie11 · 02/11/2023 13:11

Hi all,

I find it so hard during the winter months, it’s cold and wet and I want nice food!
However, I am back logging everything in Nutracheck as that’s the only way I can keep a handle on things….seeing in black and white just how many calories I’m consuming! Very tedious, but the thought of Christmas and the damage I will do on top is keeping me focussed. Haven’t weighed but clothes feeling very slightly less tight. I usually get fed up logging after a few weeks and then stagnate or put on.
I am going to try and log every day until Christmas in the hope I shift a few pounds.
I wish there was an easy answer!

I’ve only posted once on this thread, think my weight then was 56.9, two weeks later it was 57.7 😐

I was so fed up I started the fast 800, which was hard for the first few days but I’m ok on it now. I’ve been on it for 11 days. In that time I’ve lost 3kg, which I’m really happy with. So CW is 54.7. I want to lose one more kilo then I’ll come off it.

Just thought I’d share in case anyone was interested, its good if you want to lose quickly but is hard as you’re very hungry for the first week or so 😬

Also I wouldn’t bother with the book…I bought it and while it’s interesting, it’s not essential to do the diet.

coffeecupslinedup · 02/11/2023 14:57

Hi Everyone!

I'm a newbie. I'm relatively short but only have a few Kgs to lose to be back in a healthy BMI range (plus a bit of slimming so I don't feel so awful about myself all the time).

Amazing to see everyone's losses so far!! What are you guys doing if you don't mind catching me up. My main aim is to reduce sweets and carbs and move more.

I'm 35 with two small kids. Love them dearly but the weight post part has lingered. Just want it off and to be back to feeling like 'me'. Also want to build some muscle.

SW: 75 kg (post birth)
CW: 65.5 kg
TW: 61 kg

Lucie11 · 14/11/2023 07:51

How is everyone doing?

I am logging in Nutracheck but not making much progress as I keep having more calories than I should…but not exceeding maintenance 😬.

I need to up my game before Christmas. I think I’ve just got used to being a bit heavier, but I really want to get some weight off.

OP posts:
Summerscomin · 14/11/2023 14:26

Haven't been back here for ages! I can't remember what my target was- under 10 ideally I think- I'm very close at 10st1 but have totally lost any enthusiasm I had for eating healthily.
The good news is I'm maintaining this (relatively, for me) low weight. The bad news is that's making me completely complacent and just eating whatever happens to come my way.

I've been paying attention to where I'm slipping up in the hopes of addressing it. I've concluded that:
Skipping breakfast works for me, I'm not hungry and it makes me hungrier throughout the day if I have it.
Skipping lunch as well is not working for me. It happens more by accident than design, but I made a lovely batch of soup last week and I felt much better for having it with either an oatcake or even a small sandwich to dunk in.
My sugar cravings are insane. I can't get enough of it. I need to get this under control.

So plan is to reduce (not cut out, let's be realistic!) sugar to after dinner only and batch cook some more delicious soup. Hoping this sees me more happily maintaining til Xmas. Small but achievable! And starting tomorrow, cos I've already messed up today.

How's everyone else doing? What's the plans?
