I know I know. It's another thread

I can't find the last one. Managed to get myself a (cough) small banning for the despicable crime of troll hunting (oops!) but miss the support we all had when we were in the groove of it all

Anyway ... I've held off starting a new thread until I knew I was 'back' instead of this stupid managing a day or two and then falling off the wagon

I've managed nearly a week now and I've lost 7lbs. Have had to dig really deep for this but can feel the immense sugar cravings I had are lessening by the day

Anyone out there?!

Argh, you guys, I really want malteasers and a glass of something now!

Today for me:
Oatmeal pancakes with fruit

Sausage cassoulet with green veg and a little mashed potato

Half and apple and a small piece of cheese.

Still debating tea, may well be toast and salad veg bits.

Have just been for a 10k hike in the rain so steps definitely good today!

@TheOwlChronicles green burgers are a recipe for burgers made of spinach, a little flour, egg, bread crumbs, seasoning, cheddar and parmesan. They were really good and the kids had no concept of how much spinach they'd just eaten!

CatsSnore · 06/08/2023 19:32

Sorry Elven! Well done on your hike!

Today

Late breakfast of oatbran porridge with vanilla and peanut butter (I think I actually like oatbran better then oats now).

2 left over small butter bean falafal burger things with a babybell and an apple and 5 almonds.

Long walk with my friend, not sure distance but 13k steps on the walk.

The GOOD tesco finest sausages, brocoli and butterbean mash. I made it slightly different then LP as I fried up rosemary and garlic in lots of olive oil and then added the beans, veg stock powder and salt.

Had one pint half way through my walk and one g&t whilst cooking so won't have anything more now.

ElvenDreamer · 06/08/2023 19:58

Food today for me has not been great as we were out for the day, DH in charge of packed lunch for us all so basically have mainly eaten bread and cake, it was either that or starve 🤦‍♀️ attempted to keep my quantities small though.

On the other hand I had a 4k run this morning, and on the way home from our day out we stooped at a roller rink so put in 1.5hrs roller skating too. My legs are now killing me, those is all going to hurt way too much tomorrow, but I'm hoping the exercise balances out the food!

CatsSnore · 06/08/2023 22:15

I think you can definitely be let off with all that exercise Elven. I love roller skating! I bet you had so much fun!

ElvenDreamer · 07/08/2023 18:46

It was great fun thanks Cats, I have a bit of a thing about exercise needing to be fun so I keep doing it.

Today:
Porridge (half oats, half bran) with berries

Omelette (3 eggs, lots of pepper slices, mushrooms and tomatoes)

Cheese on crackers

Blackeyed bean burger on a salad

CatsSnore · 07/08/2023 18:53

I like exercising with friends for the same reason!

Two leftover sausages for breakfast with beans.

Small handful of almonds and a grapefruit.

Peanut butter and cheese on oatcakes

Iced coffee

Fish and off plan mushy peas, but they were delicious.

I also had an early morning PT session and a half hour walk after work.

CatsSnore · 07/08/2023 18:54

My PT session was physio not personal training. I wasn't breaking a sweat, just doing different resistant exercises and squats.

Megasaur5keeper · 07/08/2023 20:35

So- I'm on hols (nothing exotic, seaside in Scotland)
I've been "swimming" with my child 2 days and wandering - Fitbit seems to have caught my hangover from Friday and hasnt worked since then so no idea on steps.
Friday needs a veil drawn. Formal dinner, too much everything, which led into a day of dry toast, 2 boiled eggs, some cocktail sausages, some cookie and nandos for dinner. Tbf, nandos was very on method though I ate some chips also.

Sunday
Bircher, berries
Cherries & cheese
Crunchy chicken salad with the pumpkin seed butter dressing
Apple and almond butter
Fish and chips and ice cream - could not seeeee method but it was all so delicious
A mini hero twirl and a few almonds

Today
Bircher with berries
Pret salmon protein pot
Ham and cheese toastie
Cherries and almonds
Pesto chicken salad

And I did a new les mills + video called shapes. Very methody actually, I liked it.
So I'm hoping everything balances out in the long run...

ElvenDreamer · 08/08/2023 17:43

That sounds like a pretty good day all told Catsnore.

Ooh, Happy Holidays Megasaur, well done for keeping it methody. That will be my challenge too in a few days time.

Today:
Mug muffin with a little yogurt and berries.
Green salad with homeade croutons
Chicken and vegetable bake.
May have snacked on cheese whilst grating it for recipe .

Nice long walk this morning.

CatsSnore · 08/08/2023 20:52

Thanks Elven,

Today,

Breakfast latte and a cheese and ham croissant that I couldn't resist.

Lunch a shop bought veggie samosa (large sized) and iced coffee

Pork scratchings and a mini trifle

Tea, pesto salmon and buttered leaks

My shopping is due tonight. Being prepared and not going in the office is definitely key to me not going off plan! No walk either as the rain has not stopped!

ElvenDreamer · 08/08/2023 20:57

Well I've rather slid out of the circle since posting, some random angry emotional eating has caused 2 pinwheels and a slice of cheese cake to happen. Ffs. Just when I was doing well! Hey ho, back in the circle I go.

CatsSnore · 08/08/2023 21:02

Are those cheesy school dinner pastry pinwheels Elven? Hope everything is okay 💐

ElvenDreamer · 08/08/2023 21:10

Yes, cheese and ham pastry pinwheel, made for lunches tomorrow, there were 2 that had come up a bit small, they're gone now! I'm fine thanks, just been a long day and the kids in one of those moods where they are ignoring everything you say and all I wanted to do was be organised so I could go to bed early. Pathetic really!

CatsSnore · 08/08/2023 21:15

I was a school cook a decade or so ago, I used to make pizza pinwheels 😋😋😋

Enjoy your early night! I'm still waiting for the tesco shop and all I want to do is go to bed 😭

MisshapenHat · 08/08/2023 23:02

Felt like posting a small win-- I get random attacks of mock appendicitis (I have a feeling that one day it will be full appendicitis). It typically goes away in 5 or so hours and, since I'm in the US, a trip to the hospital would set me back thousands of dollars. (Say what you want about the NHS, at least it won't make you broke.)

Yesterday was the worst one yet and my brain was screaming at me to eat something sweet or chocolate. I somehow managed to stay on method and felt so happy that I didn't stuff my face (even though I really wanted to). I guess it helped I was unable to stand up and or go to the shops to find anything sweet.

I'm seeing a difference in my arms and it makes me happy. Can't wait to one day be on the lifestyle side of things....

I don't want to say well done as you've obviously been in pain. Hope you feel better today. I'm not a comfort or stress eater so I don't have that urge but I'm sure it was horrible!

Today:

Breakfast, two pieces of rye bread with cream cheese and cucumber.

Chunk of cheese and an apple

Missed lunch as I was too busy in work

Small bit of rice with chicken that was dished up at my volunteer evening.

Chocolate and an ice lolly (obvs off plan and not planned to eat that).

I feel like I keep saying tomorrow I will be better and stick to it 😂 hopefully tomorrow I will.

ElvenDreamer · 10/08/2023 16:51

MisshapenHat that sounds horrible, I feel for you, I really do. (And yes, I truly value the NHS, with all it's difficulties!)

Well, in sunny England I am drawing a veil over a disaster day yesterday, today I've not really eaten a proper meal yet, just picked on bits of salad and some cheese when I've felt hungry. I am making jackfruit tacos for dinner with homeade salsa and guacamole though. Fingers crossed I am getting back on track. Fed up with my own inability to stick to stuff!

ElvenDreamer · 12/08/2023 09:40

Morning all, I am off on holiday today, somewhere fairly remote with no connectivity etc, can't wait to cut myself off from normality tbh! Hope everyone's doing OK, I'll let you know how I get on in a week's time. My expectation is food won't be always in circle, but am hoping to target not having silly binges. Exercise will be well up as lots of hiking, kayaking and running are planned. Today I will be fairly static as it's a long car journey but I've set myself up well with a bircher this morning and have lots of water in the car.

TheOwlChronicles · 15/08/2023 17:39

Still here and still limping on

I had a total of 3 days out of the circle. I'd like to draw a veil over them (obvs 😆)

So I've pulled myself back together before it all spins out of control and today I've had ...

2 small slices of seeded sourdough. One with peanut butter and banana and one with goats cheese and salad

Pistachios

Salad of rocket, walnuts, chopped nectarine, olive oil, balsamic

Fruit salad

Well, today was a prime illustration of how sleep affects ability to stay on method. 2 very poor night's sleep, including a 5 year old with 27 limbs coming into bed last night at 1am - today I ate a huge quantity of bread and salted almonds which were wholly additional to real day food.
Hoping for better sleep tonight.

TheOwlChronicles · 15/08/2023 20:08

@Megasaur5keeper I hear you on the sleep. I have very patchy sleep more often than not and it really can have an impact the next day.

I wear an oura ring and that gives me sleep feedback and more often than not, it's not great feedback!

Hi all, I was on the original thread from last year, so hoping I am welcome here.
so my story -try to keep brief - Late last year I decided to join a specialised gym & get properly fit. Love the gym, get lots of 1 on 1 help from v qualified trainers, tailored excercise programmes that change monthly. I go 4x a week. They also offered WL/nutrition as an add on, so I am doing that too. This mainly consists of tracking cals/macros, I use Nutracheck for this.
while I do find tracking tedious, it has helped me a lot & has been eye-opening. I am losing, but v slowly. I have input all my LP recipes into Nutracheck, so I can track easily.
Today dinner: steak, cauliflower mash, made with cream cheese, corn on cob.
No more as I have maxed out cals for today.
I have lost 4k in 3 months, hoping to lose 15k more, reckon it will take 2 yrs.

ElvenDreamer · 20/08/2023 18:23

Hi all, I am back from my week away As predicted the food was very much out of the circle, lots of sandwiches while hiking, instant sugar hit fuel from fudge and flapjack, 2 meals out, both involving dessert. BUT, this was my exercise:
Day 1 - 5k run, 4k kayak, 8.7k hike in the peaks.
Day 2 - 5.94k peak hike
Day 3 - 12.4k peak hike
Day 4 - 14.44k peak hike (legs really starting to hurt now...)
Day 5 - 10.4k kayak (choppy water, I hurt a lot after that one!) 1k walk
Day 6 - 17k hike in the valleys, short paddle board, short evening walk.

So, I am back in the circle today, hoping the very active week means I can keep my exercise momentum (in slightly more reasonable amounts of course) whilst bringing the food back on track. I think I want to add some sort of weights routine so planning to research that idea tonight.

Today:
4k run
Pancakes
Handful nuts
Moussaka and green veg
Oatcakes with avocado and chopped veg sticks
Will add one more snack later, possibly hard boiled eggs.

CatsSnore · 21/08/2023 09:01

Your holiday sounds right up my street Elven. Have you lost weight from being so active? Bet your legs are looking good!!

Yes Meg sleep messes up my diet too.

I've been out of the circle but more because of not eating 5x a day, drinking alcohol etc. I thought because I've been quite active and not particularly overdone it (apart from a full roast yesterday with apple crumble for pudding) I'd be okay but have gone back up to 11.13 🤦‍♀️

I've got a day off today, am going to get up, go for a walk, go for a swim and meal plan for the week.

MisshapenHat · 21/08/2023 16:35

I'm still hanging on. Weight is the same down to the OUNCE every day. Have been getting 8-10k steps...water is up. I dunno. I'll just keep keeping on, I guess.

I promised myself that I would not step out of the circle until this Saturday, when I go to a taco and tequila event which will be incredibly marvelous and worth it. Lots of stress and I've somehow managed to stay in.

Daughter decided Saturday she really wanted to live on campus at University. Somehow managed to find one spot left. We packed her up and moved her in last night...and STILL somehow managed to stay on method. OKAY, I ate extra bacon...but I don't care!

@Moanranger I'm always interested in macros, but I get obsessive when counting calories and I don't mean in a good way. When I've tried in the past, I usually end up quitting in disgust. I'm impressed you're hanging on. I've been interested in specialized gyms, but here in the US, they're full of Trump voters who don't believe in women's rights and run down the side of the road holding a US flag.
