I know I know. It's another thread

I can't find the last one. Managed to get myself a (cough) small banning for the despicable crime of troll hunting (oops!) but miss the support we all had when we were in the groove of it all

Anyway ... I've held off starting a new thread until I knew I was 'back' instead of this stupid managing a day or two and then falling off the wagon

I've managed nearly a week now and I've lost 7lbs. Have had to dig really deep for this but can feel the immense sugar cravings I had are lessening by the day

Anyone out there?!

Can't even tag you all so hopefully you'll spot this

If not, I'll just northern to myself until you do

Food times today.. I've had to eat a lighter diet because the weight loss is harder this year! I suspect perimenopause plays a part as does Costa bubble frappes

Green smoothie made with spinach, coconut milk, hemp seeds, lime, banana and mango

Mexican hot chocolate

German rye bread with hummus, salad and goats cheese

Mixed nuts
Cherries

Rainbow salad with red cabbage, blueberries, yellow pepper, tomatoes with an avocado, lime and chilli dressing and some sweet potato wedges

So another day in the circle ⭕️

Hello! Still rattling about here on my own so I guess I'll be accountable to myself for the time being

Food times today

Peanut butter smoothie - peanut butter, 1 medjool date (don't think this is Louise approved!), oat milk,
Ice, banana and protein powder

Handful of trail mix

Remainder of last nights rainbow salad with goats cheese

Black grapes

Salad, quinoa, tofu and hummus

So pretty much another day in the circle ⭕️

Hi! Funnily enough only this morning I was thinking about the first thread and hoping to find you again - I’m taking this as a sign from Her Loveliness Louise Parker herself that it’s time to jump back in! I’m in the same boat - doing a couple of days on method then sliding off again, and am so cross at myself for letting all my effort last year go to waste - and literally back on to my waist! So yes, I’m back in the circle - delicately of course!

TheOwlChronicles · 11/06/2023 15:10

@Plainandsimple ooh hello! Glad to see you're back. Hope you've got your GOOD vanilla paste at the ready!! Hoping some others will spot us too.

Well I've managed to stay in the circle and it appears to be going OK. I'm feeling a bit better in myself and I'm currently 9lbs down

Just another 20lbs to goHmm

TheOwlChronicles · 11/06/2023 16:50

Another good few days I suppose! I really wanted something delicious for dinner last night but managed to stave off the urge with peanut noodles followed by a large handful of a delicious trail mix that I've made

OP posts:
TheOwlChronicles · 11/06/2023 16:51

Food times so far today ...

Smoothie made with oat milk, peanut butter, banana, protein powder and ice

Cherries

Sourdough bread with avocado, tomato and hummus

25g trail mix

That all looks very tasty and healthy! My day’s not been too bad -
greek yoghurt, fruit & flaked almonds for breakfast.
Lunch - griddled flat mushrooms with tomato purée & herbs (almost identical to a pizza, honest), aubergine & courgette slices.
afternoon snack was apple & peanut butter.
Dinner sliced chicken schnitzel with Caesar salad & 1/4 bag whole grain rice.
Slightly spoiled by the two strawberry pencils DH gave me this evening, but I’m thinking that’s better than half the contents of the biscuit tin.

Plainandsimple · 12/06/2023 21:06

Evening all - or just @TheOwlChronicles if it's still just us 😁So a pretty circular day today, Mondays are tricky for me because they don't have a set routine and lunch can be non-existent, but I feel I made good choices today:
Breakfast - Greek yoghurt, strawberries, blueberries & flaked almonds (I don't have many but think they do make a difference to how full I feel & for how long),
Lunch - out at a cafe, chose a wholemeal coronation chicken salad sandwich and not the big slab of carrot cake that was calling to me,
Dinner - bean burger with chopped salad, sweet onion dressing, tomatoes & gherkins - no chips or burger bun, feeling very smug about that,
And snacks so far - one coconut mochi. But I am now in the danger zone of couple of hours post-dinner and couple of hours until bed - this is where I tend to give in to temptation! Hopefully not tonight though...

TheOwlChronicles · 12/06/2023 22:14

@Plainandsimple evening! Still just us I think Grin

I had exactly the same breakfast but hemp seeds instead of flaked almonds!

Lunch was a peach and mozzarella salad with quinoa and rocket and dinner was a halloumi burger with salad and hummus

Snacks of cherries, nectarines and a small piece of cheese 🧀

And I'm similar to you. I have a tendency to eat breakfast and lunch and feel all virtuous and suddenly I'm falling on packs of biscuits and magnums and wondering what on earth just happened!

Interestingly I was taking HRT but decided to stop for now - purely because I don't feel comfortable taking it whilst I'm a couple of stone overweight. I want to take it for the preventative benefits but I decided to stop whilst I lose this weight.

I couldn't lose a lb when on it. Literally just stayed the same weight and it would creep up slowly, I'd drop a lb and then put 2 on

Within 3 weeks of me stopping the HRT, I've lost 9 lbs with relative ease

So I'm suspicious 🤨

OP posts:
Plainandsimple · 12/06/2023 22:24

That's interesting - I'm contemplating HRT and one reason is to see if it'd help with reducing the menopausal tum, but maybe not! Not convinced I need it though, my menopausal symptoms aren't too bad at the moment and I lost a stone last year without it so I know I can do it, was just hoping for an easier option this time round 😬

Plainandsimple · 12/06/2023 22:26

And congrats on 9lb in three weeks! Seriously impressive!

TheOwlChronicles · 13/06/2023 12:18

@Plainandsimple ah yes - I had visions of it giving me so much energy that I'd immediately drop a stone. Alas, I didn't.

I'll revisit it next year. My symptoms are also mild so it's just for the preventative stuff I want it for as things stand

Have started the day with a smoothie of oat milk, peanut butter, protein powder, banana, hemp seeds, ice

Now contemplating some lunch!

OP posts:
Plainandsimple · 13/06/2023 14:26

Ooh I love a smoothie, haven’t made one for ages. Do you use a specific protein powder? Saw a whey-based one in Aldi yesterday but couldn’t remember what Louise’s thoughts were on protein powders, are they too processed or ok occasionally? So yesterday was both feet firmly in, today is going well, however family cinema trip this evening will be challenging - the family bag of Revels will be calling!
Breakfast was yoghurt & fruit as yesterday
Lunch - more chopped salad with seafood sticks (or crab sticks, as they were in my youth, before Someone In Government pointed out they’d not been anywhere near a crab so we can’t call them that anymore), and 1.5litres of water so far today.
Dinner is yet to be decided 😏

TheOwlChronicles · 13/06/2023 21:26

@Plainandsimple I use a vegan pea protein one which I promise is more appetising than it sounds Grin just a chocolate one. I also have a raspberry one

God I love a large bag of Revels! Just delicious. Also galaxy counters.
And maltesers. Actually all chocolate 🍫

Food times for today ..

Smoothie

Piece of cheese
Fruit salad

Quinoa with rocket, mozzarella and hummus

Handful of homemade trail mix

Marinated tofu with salad, tomatoes, peppers

OP posts:
Plainandsimple · 14/06/2023 20:23

Well the good news is I didn't buy the family bag of Revels. I did buy a KitKat chunky and had several handfuls of DH's chocolate brownie M&Ms, but consider that damage limitation compared to what it could've been.

Today was breakfast at work, so banana, yoghurt/granola pot and chilled coffee,
Lunch the Coco's Coronation recipe from the 6 Weeks book, another yoghurt & Graze snack size bar.
Dinner - two pieces battered code with a pile of mixed veg
Snacks so far - 1 babybel, 1 apple, 10 nuts,

Are you doing the exercises this time? I'm not, but my bingo wings and increasingly stiff & achy joints are suggesting I should...

TheOwlChronicles · 14/06/2023 23:06

Sounds like a good eating day!

I'm not doing the exercises in the book but then, I never did. I'm walking 5K a day and I'll be back swimming every day. I'm a member of a private spa just a mile down the road and this means I can go every day - but they're currently closed for some work so I'll be back there next week when they reopen

Are you still planning on making a start with the exercises? I should actually look at them and see what they entail!

Food for today ..

Oat milk, hemp seed, blue spirulina, peanut butter, banana and ice smoothie

2 nectarines
Small piece of cheese

2 slices of sourdough with avocado, hummus, rocket and tomatoes

Trail mix

Roasted veg cous cous with goats cheese and pine nuts

OP posts:

Oh you're here!! I posted on the old thread a couple of days ago. I'll try and copy some of my message into here and also pop and leave a link over there to try and get the others in. Will post properly a bit later when I have more time 😁

ElvenDreamer · 15/06/2023 16:29

Here is the gist of the message on the old thread:
I'm not going to bore anyone with my recent soul searching, but just sort of pick up where I left off. In the past few days I've downloaded the Freshwell app, and it's fabulous, it's sort of LP (just the food pillar) but a bit more extreme. The health/scientific explanation section scared me quite a lot, which was possibly the kick up the backside I needed... but the recipe section and substitution section is brilliant, I highly recommend checking it out.

TheOwlChronicles · 16/06/2023 21:44

Glad you found us again @ElvenDreamer - well all two of us. Three now!

Sorry to hear about your struggles with it all - it's so tough isn't it

OP posts:
TheOwlChronicles · 16/06/2023 22:48

Food times for today

Greek yogurt with fruit, hemp seeds and peanut butter

Cherries / trail mix

Rice cakes with hummus, salad and quorn

Lentil noodles with mozzarella and rocket

Ice lolly

Still 10 lbs down and going to try for another 1lb for Kk days weigh in!

Megasaur5keeper · 17/06/2023 08:52

Hello everyone! Plodding on here. Sleep has been tricky owing to stress, and I've been eating a lot of salty snacks for similar reasons. Had been down , haven't weighed for a bit and I'm hoping not to be too much up when I weigh again on Thursday.
Definitely have a temptation to shovel food in in times of stress, but I've been mainly in the circle this week.

TheOwlChronicles · 17/06/2023 09:59

Hi again @Megasaur5keeper - I tried to tag both you and @ElvenDreamer at the beginning of the thread and failed so was hoping you'd both spot it and you have!

It is frustrating isn't it? All we can do is keep on trying because we know that this way of eating really really works. Err when you stick to it

OP posts:
Plainandsimple · 17/06/2023 12:37

Morning all! Our numbers are growing - are we at double figures yet? 😊
Sorry for the long silence, had a busy few days but have remained pretty much in the circle so doing ok. Sadly not reflected on the scales yet (weigh-in day, no weight loss this week), but that's the way it goes with me - veeery slow and steady, so I'll just keep plodding along.

Re. the exercises @TheOwlChronicles no, I'm not doing them - good intentions, but haven't started. I do need to do something - I changed jobs in January and my current role is even more sedentary than my last, basically I'm sitting for 8 hours with occasional dashes to the loo, so not particularly helpful in terms of using calories and toning up. I remember you're a swimmer, that must help a lot with burning the lard! I started doing Callanetics last year (anyone remember them?!) and really enjoyed it and noticed a very quick result in terms of toning so my 'do it' list this week includes a least two sessions.

Food so far today:
2 x sourdough toast with elderflower & lingonberry marmalade
Cashew nuts & strawberries
Lunch & dinner as yet undecided!

Have a lovely Saturday & enjoy the sun if it's still shining where you are 😎
