I know I know. It's another thread

I can't find the last one. Managed to get myself a (cough) small banning for the despicable crime of troll hunting (oops!) but miss the support we all had when we were in the groove of it all

Anyway ... I've held off starting a new thread until I knew I was 'back' instead of this stupid managing a day or two and then falling off the wagon

I've managed nearly a week now and I've lost 7lbs. Have had to dig really deep for this but can feel the immense sugar cravings I had are lessening by the day

Anyone out there?!

Ive been focusing on stress management pillar today so had my first ever reflexology treatment. It was so relaxing I fell asleep!

Foodwise I’ve been in the inner circle

Breakfast - oatmeal
Lunch - poached eggs on sourdough toast
snack - crispbread with cashew nut butter and strawberries
dinner - https://www.goodhousekeeping.com/food-recipes/easy/a46930/pomegranate-honey-glazed-chicken-and-squash-recipe/

At the moment not sure I’m going to have room for second snack as the butternut squash side with dinner was delicious and very filling.

Pomegranate-Honey Glazed Chicken and Squash

Mix the hottest flavors of the season into this heart-healthy chicken dish.

I was a bit too heavy on carbs today though portion size was ok I think

breakfast - monkey toast
lunch - chicken soup and handful of strawberries
snack - handful of pistachios
dinner - sweetcorn and feta cheese risotto

I have been invited to a drinks reception in the House of Commons tomorrow so I feel I should make the most of that - but will try and stay in the inner circle for the remainder of the day and get straight back on it on Friday

ElvenDreamer · 05/07/2023 22:41

I've had an ok couple of days in terms of the type of food I've eaten, the quantity has been more debatable....basically too much cheese!
Pilates class today and a good long walk.

ElvenDreamer · 05/07/2023 22:43

@Katrinawaves dinner at the house of commons is probably an excusable day! Hope you have fun 🙂
How are you doing @TheOwlChronicles ?

Katrinawaves · 09/07/2023 17:52

The thread has gone a bit quiet lately! How is everyone doing?

I had a lie in today so missed breakfast. I’ve had two snacks today - pitta and hummus with pomegranate seeds and a crispbread with cashew butter and a banana - but skipped lunch as I was running late for a reformer Pilates class.

I’m planning on chicken in mushroom sauce with green vegetables for dinner and an early night as I’m back to work tomorrow after a week off. I’ve managed 9 days now and only stepped out of the circle once and then only a little so am hoping I can keep that up when I get back to my normal life routine!

TheOwlChronicles · 09/07/2023 19:55

Still here! <waves>

How are we all doing? I'm still plodding along. I'm walking 5K a day (was 10k today) and staying in the circle

Todays food.

2 slices sourdough with cashew butter and banana on one and ricotta and mango on the other, both sprinkled with chopped hazelnuts

Piece of Wensleydale with remainder of mango

Rocket, pomegranate, pumpkin seed, edamame beans, goats cheese salad with a tahini dressing

Handful of trail mix
Fruit juice ice Lolly

love the sound of the sourdough with ricotta, mango and hazelnuts.

your salad also sounds lovely.

Hi, I'm sort of here, really rough week or so with life stuff, so honestly, even though I know it would make me feel better pushing on with LP etc, I've just crumpled. I plan to come back though so please keep posting if you feel you want to! You guys are doing amazingly.

Katrinawaves · 14/07/2023 12:13

Hi Elven. I’ve been a bit on and off this week too. I find I am good right up to the evening meal and then I cave in and have some pasta or something easy. I’m still trying to keep portion sizes down however so hopefully not sabotaging too much.

Today will be a better day - I’m determined!

TheOwlChronicles · 16/07/2023 20:36

How are you doing @ElvenDreamer ? Well done to you for still posting - you know you've got this when you're in the space to turn yourself back to it

Well, I gathered myself at the weekend and figured I felt ready to push back into the circle on Monday, then promptly had an issue which has resulted in me being on a ton of antibiotics etc and feeling horrendous. So I've been eating whatever comes easily to hand that I don't need to prep and very little exercise as side effects have left me feeling sick and awful. Still feel rough and I have a few days of meds left to take but trying to limp myself in the right direction.

Breakfast today: yogurt (figure this will help replace the good gut flora which no doubt the antibiotics are destroying), berries and bran.

Megasaur5keeper · 23/07/2023 12:02

Urg that sounds rubbish @ElvenDreamer . How you feeling now?
I weighed today and I'm up. About 7lbs in 2 weeks which seems a lot but I have been mindlessly grazing on nuts and toast so I only have myself to blame!

Anyway - had a croissant with scrambled eggs for breakfast - definitely worth it,
Almonds and a nectarine for a snack and I'll be having saag paneer with brown rice for lunch.
Planning a walk this afternoon and I did body combat and body pump this morning so from that point of view I'm in the circle. Just a bit disappointed about lbs being up.

So straight back into the inner circle for me.

I've been wanting to do a 6 week blast anyway, so this is a good motivation!

ElvenDreamer · 23/07/2023 17:58

I will join you back in that inner circle tomorrow @Megasaur5keeper , today is the 1st day I've actually felt human again so I went for a run with DD which felt good. In spite of having no idea what I've really been eating for the last couple of weeks I haven't really gained so that's something at least, was obviously doing just enough!

Megasaur5keeper · 23/07/2023 18:05

On the upside I've walked 16000 steps ish today. (Total is 23000 so far but that includes the lies from body pump ).
Lunch 2as left over saag paneer and a tortilla, apple and nut snack and chilli for dinner.

Off to stew some rhubarb to have on Birchers.

ElvenDreamer · 24/07/2023 19:56

OK, so today was:
Bircher
Handful of nuts
Mackerel salad
2 oat cakes with a slice of mozzarella and a smear of pickle
Moroccan chicken dish (added some rice to this for the rest of the family)

Currently eating a carrot and trying to tell myself I'm not hungry (should have made slightly more of chicken dish honestly so may have another oatcake with a piece of cheese.)

Not really done much actual exercise today but fairly active in lots of housework etc so constantly moving. Spent some good quality time with the kids too and it's generally been a very calm day so my head is in a good place.

SplatPancake · 25/07/2023 08:14

Hello, new to thread. Which of the 2 LP books would you recommend?

SplatPancake · 25/07/2023 08:14

Hello, new to thread. Which of the 2 LP books would you recommend?

There are 3 books currently. My favourite is the original Lean for Life

The second one is mainly a recipe book with very little about the underlying principles and the third phases the programme over 6 weeks so more of a gradual lead in.

Megasaur5keeper · 25/07/2023 08:55

Yesterday I was pretty much in the circle â•
Bircher w. Rhubarb and hazelnuts
Apple and almond butter
Chicken soup and a whole meal roll
Chilli with brown rice, a few tortilla chips, avocado, yogurt and cheese and about 10 almonds.

Dinner was possibly pushing it a tad, but since no afternoon snack I was ok with it.
Body balance in the morning and got steps in.

@SplatPancake the first book sets out "the method" in a lot of detail, the third one (six week plan) gives you a six week plan (actually 7 as there's a "prep week") with a weekly list of things to do and a decent structure.

@Katrinawaves

Megasaur5keeper · 25/07/2023 08:56

Oops, posted too soon with a random @... Sorry.

I think lfl is the best one too.

ElvenDreamer · 25/07/2023 09:19

Yes I agree, Lfl is my favourite just for understanding the method and feeling inspired by it too. I do have all 4 though (coursltesy of ebay!) and do like the recipe variety that gives me. Cook book is good for adapting to whole family meals. Lfl is quite meat heavy so less good on recipe front if you're veggie at all. That being said, you quickly get used to how to adapt things, whether that's finding veggie recipes, or adapting family favourites or knowing what to add on the side for hungry kids!

ElvenDreamer · 25/07/2023 09:21

Argh, what on earth did I just type?! Courtesy was the word I was attempting! Must learn to read back for typos before hitting post 😆
Also, 3 books not 4. I give up!

SplatPancake · 25/07/2023 09:27

Thank you, I’ve bought this and the accompanying cook book x

TheOwlChronicles · 25/07/2023 10:19

Morning all!

@SplatPancake I'd grab all the books if you can, they can be picked up cheaply in places like Vinted etc. sadly the LP method as a 'business' is no more but the books are really good initially to get the ideas of how it all works.
