I know I know. It's another thread

I can't find the last one. Managed to get myself a (cough) small banning for the despicable crime of troll hunting (oops!) but miss the support we all had when we were in the groove of it all

Anyway ... I've held off starting a new thread until I knew I was 'back' instead of this stupid managing a day or two and then falling off the wagon

I've managed nearly a week now and I've lost 7lbs. Have had to dig really deep for this but can feel the immense sugar cravings I had are lessening by the day

Anyone out there?!

Also I think your body can be heavier on different days but that's not scientific 😂 I started Monday, I did have a fairly low carb weekend but weighed last week at 12 stone, this morning I'm 11.9. There is no way three/four days of low carb/low sugar did that!

Megasaur5keeper · 02/08/2023 08:43

@MisshapenHat - I've gone up half a stone since 3 July which I'm attributing to - too much cake around my wean's birthday, and a number of celebrations which if I am properly honest with myself I let go on too long. And mindlessly snacking on a few extra nuts a day which I 2as kidding myself on about.
Complacency basically. Showed me that you really do need to be very on it.
Can you- check portion sizes, hidden sugar (you cook a lot from scratch I think? So maybe not that)
Fluid retention, lower activity levels ? I have to say I did also have a couple of periods of big loss, big loss, nothing for a couple of weeks, big loss so it is worth remembering that fat loss is not necessarily linear in any event

Anyway, in terms of my accountability -
Yesterday was not great with a bit of mindless grazing and half a giant cookie around a broadly speaking on method day -
Porridge with apple, blackberries and almond butter,
Aubergine dip on a couple of crispbread and a nectarine
Chicken salad with pesto dressing
Additional nuts while clearing cupboards out
Ham hock straight from the packet (about 20g)
2 oatcakes and cheese
Paneers curry
Steps and body pump.

MisshapenHat · 02/08/2023 17:22

@CatsSnore It could be the heat. I'm in Arizona, in the US. I aim for 3000ml of water a day, often it is closer to 2000ml. Swimming is a good idea-- our public pools are all reserved for lap swimming, which is a competitive process to get a lane (online, ahead of time) on its own. I have been considering trying swimming again just for the cardio...honestly, I'm done with the heat, but it will be HOT until at least October.

MisshapenHat · 02/08/2023 17:24

@Megasaur5keeper It could be portion size.

Yesterday - apple bircher breakfast
a sourdough crispbread (out of Rye) with 1/4 banana and Peanut Butter
DIY salad for lunch with a handful of cherries.
Courgetti Bolognese for dinner. Handful (and a half, let's be honest) of cherries because they're so darn good right now.

I just need to up my game, I guess. Those final 5 pounds are looking at me.

ElvenDreamer · 02/08/2023 19:39

Checking in. Bit of a rubbish day all told. Just felt very unmotivated and lethargic. Definitely stepped out of the circle a few times and portions generally too big. Cross because I'd done so well last week on the whole. Oh well, back in I go. ⭕️🤞

@MisshapenHat I second what has been said about water as a possible reason for not shedding those last few pounds. Plateaus are so frustrating aren't they.
@Megasaur5keeper those nuts, why are they so moreish?! I am definitely having too many on a daily basis. They, along with cheese, are my nemesis.

CatsSnore · 02/08/2023 21:02

My day was a bit rubbish to elven. Only done around 4k steps which is a bit rubbish and the first day I haven't gone for a walk for ages (it's torrential outside).

Two scrambled eggs on one piece of rye

4 oatcakes with peanut butter and cheese 😂 and an apple.

2 baby bells

The food on offer at my volunteer post was chilli, I did have a spoonfull of rice with it and cheese on top. I then had a funsize fudge. I couldn't let the service users eat it all 😋

Came home and had two gins.

ElvenDreamer · 02/08/2023 21:11

@CatsSnore that has made me feel better, currently sulking with my 2nd glass of wine. Ffs!

CatsSnore · 02/08/2023 21:16

I'm debating my third. I bought Hendrix gin and elderflower (sugarfree) tonic so having that with ice and cucumber is delicious and I feel vaguely healthy because of the cucumbers 😂 plus gin isn't carby!

You have your sulk and your wine, we'll start again tomorrow!

ElvenDreamer · 02/08/2023 21:25

My husband always says gin will be best because its low calorie 🤣 Currently justifying wine because it's homeade. Feeling pleasantly don't care-ish at this point. See you on the other side, we will be back in the game in the morning, we've got this!

CatsSnore · 02/08/2023 21:37

Definitely gin is the best low calorie drink! Homemade wine sounds amazing. Did you make it?

Also I think I deserve a pat on the back for not eating more chocolate out of the packet and not taking home leftovers and resisting the french stick they had sliced up to have with the chilli! I did good!!

ElvenDreamer · 02/08/2023 22:00

You have shown excellent self control with the chocolate! I managed to stop myself at 3 biscuits today, that could very easily have gotten out of control so am taking that as a win.

My husband makes the wine, there's always quite a lot of hedgerow wine in our understairs cupboard. I make elderflower champagne every couple of years or so though.

MisshapenHat · 03/08/2023 17:07

Everyone! I listened to your advice. Yesterday hit my 3000ml (96 ounces) of water. We ended up eating dinner late (Marrakesh salad) so it was too late to exercise. (Our gym closes at 8pm). Walked about 5.5k steps. My steps are so down due to this heat, as it is monsoon season here. (Monsoons-- every evening, right around dusk, huge storms sweep in.)

Woke up this morning and down what I like to call a "weight decade." Went from 140 pounds to 139. Started at 152. Thank you!!!

CatsSnore · 03/08/2023 18:37

Sounds lovely Elven and well done Miss!

Today

2 scrambled eggs on piece of rye

An orange and two oatcakes with peanut butter

Iced coffee x2

Chunk of cheese and 6 little cocktail sausages

Salmon pesto with kale and brocoli, small handful of unsalted fruit and nuts for pudding.

I didn't do the kale LP style, I lightly boiled the brocoli, added the kale, drained it and drizzled evo, salt and lemon juice. Was delicious! I also didn't make the pesto, the ingredients are more or less the same as shop bought.

Went for a walk at lunchtime and did half hour of pilates as soon as I finished work! Feeling good today and I turned down the pub because I knew I wouldn't resist a pint and a double gin and tonic has gone up to £12!!

ElvenDreamer · 03/08/2023 19:51

Yay, well done @MisshapenHat . I find I'm much better with water when I pour a jug at the start of the day, then I see it and it reminds me to drink, I just forget otherwise! That kale sounds good @CatsSnore , I have lots of kale in the garden which I'm plotting to do something with soon.

Today I've been back on it, plenty of water, lots of steps.

Eggs and avocado on toast

2 buttered oatcakes

Chunk of cheese, apple slices, vegetable sticks, nuts

Some salted peanuts and raisins (small step out there!)

Stuffed marrow and broccoli

Hoping a hot choc LP style will stave off the evening munchies and am planning a fairly early night.

CatsSnore · 03/08/2023 21:55

Hope the hot chocolate did the trick elven! I made the cocoa almonds with cinnamon. It almost hit the spot, lucky I didn't have any chocolate in the house as I would have scoffed it. The sugar cravings are hard this time round on LP!

TheOwlChronicles · 03/08/2023 22:33

Evening all!

I've been slightly MIA - no reason for it apart from being very busy and just not had much time to Mumsnet!

I'm still in the circle ⭕️

Total loss is a stone and a half now so I'm over half way there now. Just the toughest bit now.

Food times for today ..

Smoothie made with blueberries, blue spirulina, chia seeds, 1/4 avocado, oat milk and peanut butter

Mango, pecan, walnut, rocket and goats cheese salad

2 x rice cakes
Orange

Mushroom stroganoff type thing that I make myself

The rice cakes are not in the circle tbh. They're covered in chocolate 😀

So I possibly need to do a little tightening up but overall I'm still making slow and steady progress

Off to catch up!

Welcome @CatsSnore - thanks for reminding me about the Mexican hot chocolate! I used to make that but had forgotten all
About it in recent weeks so that's on the plan for tomorrow!

OP posts:
ElvenDreamer · 04/08/2023 18:01

That's great steady progress @TheOwlChronicles and I always love the sound of your salads, I'm usually too lazy to do something decent and throw any old thing together.

Today so far, no exercise to speak of, ignoring that small ok, fairly large flaw in the proceedings, it's been OK.

Eggs and bacon

Homade Green Burger in a wholemeal bun, homade coleslaw on the side.

Nuts

Planning a cheese and oatcakes with salad veg and pickles type tea.

TheOwlChronicles · 04/08/2023 21:47

@ElvenDreamer what's a green burger?! Sounds like a good day

Food times ..

Greek yogurt, blueberry chia jam (home made - highly recommend! So easy!), banana

Nourish bowl comprising of tofu, grains, 1/4 avocado, peppers, tomatoes, hummus and edamame beans

Mango
Piece of cheese
Mixed nuts ... as didn't fancy dinner really!

Then had a Marsh and Mallow bar which Louise would not have approved of!

OP posts:
CatsSnore · 05/08/2023 10:35

I fell out of the circle spectacularly last night.

Yesterday

Peanut butter and cheese on 3 oatcakes

Tbsp of hummus and cucumber sticks

Bacon tomatoes and mushrooms

The pub, 3 pints of Stella because I'm classy like that 😂

Chip shop tea with a fishcake and a battered sausage

Malteasers and a Kinda Bueno in bed before I fell asleep.

I'm off out for lunch, will have the chicken and avo salad and get back on track.

TheOwlChronicles · 05/08/2023 15:01

@CatsSnore I do love maltesers but ideally from the box and not a bag. .

OP posts:
CatsSnore · 05/08/2023 15:10

I agree @TheOwlChronicles box ones are so much nicer!

TheOwlChronicles · 05/08/2023 15:15

It's like coke. Always better from a glass bottle

God I really fancy a glass of coke and a box of Maltesers now 😀

I was really struggling last night...but it was planning for the weekend. I live in a town with an amazing food scene (It is a Unesco City of Gastronomy), and I just wanted to go and get ice cream or drinks this weekend. I have finally talked myself out of it, as we are going to a taco, salsa, and tequila challenge at the end of the month. It's a night of gluttony and drunkeness at a hotel and it is amazing.

Yesterday's food - it was Friday, which means whatever I can find, I don't make a full meal for us.

Oatmeal with apples
Salad with meatballs, cheese...whatever I could find.
Greek yogurt with mango. (I think I might have put granola on it. Just a bit.)
2 egg omelet with tomatoes and herbs and a slice of multi-grain toast.
I was still starving in the evening for a snack, so I had an apple with 1 TB of peanut butter, which did the trick. That helped me get my mind off all the ice cream offerings in town.

The heat is still relentless, so I have been doing "walk with me" videos on YouTube to get in at least some of our steps. Have restarted the evening walks with our hyper dog, much to my husband's dismay due to the heat. Keeping the water intake up.

I have to say I'm glad I'm not in the UK, because all the candy would tempt me. European candy is $$$$$$ here and while we actually do have some Haribo gummies and Ritter Sports in the house (my daughter went to Denmark for a week), I refuse to even have a taste.

So, if you all need a break from candy, come visit me. Unfortunately, we'd probably all go and have the best cocktails you'd ever had and ice cream...but at least we'd all be out of the circle together.

CatsSnore · 05/08/2023 18:57

I like McDonald's coke best 😂

Sounds lovely @MisshapenHat I would find cocktails hard to pass up but I'm not really an ice cream or sweets person. I'm a crisps and dip fiend.

Today

No breakfast

Cobb salad with chicken and avacado

LP bean burgers with cucumber, peppers, raddish, celary and tomatoes.

I feel I've missed out on my snacks today! I haven't done enough steps either. I've been out for lunch and then went to a friends until I came home and made the burgers an hour or so ago.

I still have a chocolate bar left over from my chocolate attack last night, a turkish delight! I will most definitely be having it and starting with 3 meals and 2 snacks again tomorrow.
