⭐️LOSE IT! JUNE 2023 SUMMER SIZZLER⭐️

Summer is here and holiday time is upon us! A new month provides the opportunity to embrace a re-set and refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose as well as those who wish to maintain; to encourage a healthy & varied diet and exercise.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9.5st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back mainly on track. Would love to wave bye to another half a stone 😬

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

Checking in for WOW on my target date with my exact target weight of 54.5kg or 120lbs or 8st 8lbs. All the beautiful even numbers (to me 🤣). I have achieved this thanks to this thread and all those who have been posting on it over the past ?9 months and provided lots of support and encouragement without any judgement. I've maintained this weight for nearly a month now despite my diet not being amazing and still eating too much sugar. I've been eating sweets like mad the past week especially due to stress but am trying to make better choices or at least eat chocolate raisins instead of just sweets. They are fruit! Fibre, iron etc 🤣 So a big thank you to you all but especially @TheRealHousewife for creating these threads. They've been a source of laughter, encouragement and accountability.

I hope those wowing have a good results from the scales and that everyone has a great day.

Extra 🍾 today to celebrate. I actually have some Prosecco cream from M&S with their red diamond strawberries to celebrate today. I miss the pink champagne cream they did but this will do just fine. Sláinte! 🍾🍾🍾

This week I am 11st 4lb, which is a loss of 4lb. I imagine this is a one-off, probably a sort of spillover drop from the previous week of no loss at all. I'm very pleased, especially as I'm finding 16:8 pretty ok, certainly easier than calorie counting, the very thought of which makes my head melt😅 I just don't have the discipline for it and admire anyone who does. I have been playing around with the eating window a little, trying to find what time of day works best as my days aren't always the same due to the unpredictable nature of caring for my elderly mum. DP thinks the term 'eating window' is hilarious and wonders if I'll lose weight by standing outside watching everyone else eat their dinner through the window😆

I hope I will be you in a few months @AutisticLegoLover, reaching my goal weight and maintaining it. That is absolutely brilliant and you should feel incredibly proud of yourself. It is always (cliché alert!) inspiring to read a success story. Blooming well done!!

ImALittlePea · 21/06/2023 07:55

Oh well done @AutisticLegoLover I'm thrilled for you! I agree; I'd never have achieved and maintained (so far) the steady loss I have over the last 18 months without this thread. It's made the world of difference to my mindset, focus and accountability.

Oh love a whoosh @Tessisme well done! 16:8 is what works for me as well. Not so much eating at the window though 😂

Good luck to other WoWers today. I'm stepping on tomorrow. Another busy day today, hoping I won't veer off track with it being holiday week.

MercurialMargot · 21/06/2023 07:59

WOW another 0.5kg down. I wasn't expecting success this week as we had Indian takeaway on Saturday night (very unusual for us but it's so rare my husband requests something like that I couldn't turn him down!)

NothingTraLaLa · 21/06/2023 08:52

Well done @AutisticLegoLover - you should be proud of yourself. All that effort (and it is effort) has paid off and you’re where you want to be.

No loss here, but I’m maintaining my weight for the second week in a row; I’ve been good at not drinking my calories, not too terrible at the food side of things even when eating out, but pretty poor at exercising due to the heat which sapped all my energy.

WOW
SW: 128 lbs
CW: 125.8 lbs
TW 119 lbs

Helloworld99 · 21/06/2023 14:48

I was a bit more relaxed this week but still not snacking..ish i did have a mug cake on sat night when i needed to indulge! But im refusing to give hp things, im just eating much more healthily and in moderation!

Hope everyone has good results.. i guess we are in the final stretch for June now!

Shellwedance · 21/06/2023 19:48

First WOW from me and I’m 4 pounds down. Really happy but today is the first day I’m struggling not to snack in the evening. Not going to stress it too much.

Well done to everyone, I’m really getting inspiration from you all.

SW: 13 stone 8
CW: 13 stone 4
TW: 12 stone

DownUdderer · 22/06/2023 04:37

Congrats on all the losses. It's lovely to see.

I weighed in the same this morning. That's ok.

My kids school holidays are in a weeks time. It's often that bit harder to have a routine during the holidays.

ImALittlePea · 22/06/2023 06:49

Well done on the results yesterday gang!

Weighing a day early for me as we're away on a UK holiday today. Think the scales are broken - 1.5lb off?! The last time I remember weighing this was in 2016 and I'd just had a horrendous stomach bug. My BMI is now 22, down from 26.9 when I first joined the threads at the start of last year, and I'm 2st 3lb down from then.

All in all, a big happy dance from me! Holiday mode is now officially on... see you all next week 😁

Tessisme · 22/06/2023 07:52

That is absolutely brilliant @ImALittlePea! You must feel great.

Restartandrefresh · 22/06/2023 09:54

@ImALittlePea congrats! I’m feeling inspired to continue and get to a healthy weight too :) Enjoy the holidays 😎

Restartandrefresh · 22/06/2023 10:05

I’m taking tomorrow off to spend time with family in town so we will eat out a few times.

I will try to drink lots of water plus have some nuts and healthy snacks in order to have small yummy portions of whatever we order in cafes / restaurants!! Hold me accountable- I’ll report back next week 😬

ImALittlePea · 22/06/2023 10:44

Thank you @Tessisme @Restartandrefresh I do feel pretty damn good to be fair! It's been a long slow journey but that's the best way, I've made sustainable changes and found a balance that works for me. Happy days.

Have a lovely time with family @Restartandrefresh, it's so important to have days off, but you know there's no expectation or judgement on this group when it comes to that. Keeping up with water while you're 'off' is the best thing to do.

TheRealHousewife · 22/06/2023 22:09

Hello

Some great results being posted! Well done all of you.

My WOW is a smidgen down from last week. Weight really won’t budge in any meaningful way 🤔 I’m being sensible and measured with portions. No alcohol, sugary treats or baked goods so don’t really know what else I can do 🤷‍♀️ I think I’ll start using kitchen scales to measure everything again.

Menu
Meal 1 - Homemade vegetable soup. Greek yoghurt.
Meal 2 - Large salmon fillet, puy lentils and salad.

Tea, black coffee and water.

greenspaces4peace · 23/06/2023 04:53

yes @TheRealHousewife , good quality digital kitchen scales certainly makes the task easier.
i'm also a fan of the cronometer web site/app for accuracy. better than mfp.

DownUdderer · 23/06/2023 05:38

Congrats @ImALittlePea .

Keep on keeping on @TheRealHousewife . Drink plenty of water :)

Minervia · 23/06/2023 07:16

Well.done everyone on the losses. I'm only on week two, it's amazing to read through and see how motivated people have been. I've got another pound off
SW: 167.7
CW: 165.4
TW: 145

TheRealHousewife · 23/06/2023 15:00

Afternoon All

@greenspaces4peace a lot of my MFP logs are for raw ingredients or meals I’ve worked out calories for. Actually I’m going to double check some of my own inputted recipes 😬. I’ll also have a look at your suggestion 👍

@DownUdderer Thank you for the cheer on. Also I am hit and miss with water so will double down on that 👍

@Minervia well done on your loss 👏

Menu
Meal 1 - Homemade Vegetable Soup & GF bread.
Meal 2 - Homemade Spag Bol with buttered cabbage (rather than pasta). A grate of Parmesan. Sugar free jelly & a drizzle of double cream 😳😬

DownUdderer · 24/06/2023 01:49

I've weighed this morning. I weigh in a few times during the week. If I've had a good couple of days I want to weigh in to see if the scales have gone down! Anyway I'm down a pound! Hooray! I think I'm a pound away from my BMI being in the normal range! And I'm two pounds away from losing a stone!

greenspaces4peace · 24/06/2023 02:52

oh @DownUdderer that's great news and so so very close!!
you've got this.

Remindmeofababe · 24/06/2023 07:07

@ImALittlePea amazing results. Super inspiring to hear your progress over the year.
@DownUdderer keep going, you are smashing it!
@TheRealHousewife am with you on the water, some days really good, others I am not great. Your meal plans always sound so tasty and varied.
@Minervia great progress , well done!
@Restartandrefresh hope the cafe visits went to plan and that you had fun??

Ninjachicken · 24/06/2023 08:35

Hi all, just a quick check in for accountability here! I am not being quite so strict at the moment as the summer is hitting and there is more socialising! But I am still trying to be mindful and think about my choices.
every is doing so well, congratulations to everyone consistently losing. I was slightly up this week but it is not surprising and I am going for a super healthy weekend.
had bbq prawns for dinner last night and it will be bbq meat and salad today
i am going to concentrate on lots of water and no alcohol
have a lovely weekend everyone

greenspaces4peace · 24/06/2023 16:21

like you @TheRealHousewife i'm just poking along.
i'm okay with slow and steady but do hope for a downward trend these days.
i'm not throwing in the towel this week ;).

Ninjachicken · 24/06/2023 20:54

Well done for perservering @greenspaces4peace i think that is one of the hardest things - to keep at it when you do not feel like you are getting anywhere, or at least not as fast as you would like! If we keep on, slowly but surely we will get there!

greenspaces4peace · 24/06/2023 21:58

i know @Ninjachicken and it's a long journey for me. i don't know that i would suggest anyone else take the slow road but it seems to be the one i'm on.
again today i looked at my entire graph and it's encouraging to see how my average weight in the summer of 2015 was 178.4, by 2018 166.9, and 149.1 by the end of 2020. i want to continue to nudge those numbers down so that my average weight is the high end of the healthy bmi (141) after all these years and all the meal planning/tweaking there isn't too much more that i'm willing to do.
but i poke along, the supplements i'm taking mean i'm sleeping better, that was a relatively easy new step for 2023.
