⭐️LOSE IT! JUNE 2023 SUMMER SIZZLER⭐️

Summer is here and holiday time is upon us! A new month provides the opportunity to embrace a re-set and refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose as well as those who wish to maintain; to encourage a healthy & varied diet and exercise.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9.5st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back mainly on track. Would love to wave bye to another half a stone 😬

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

Hi

Gosh it’s hot 🥵

@greenspaces4peace I am tempted to shave a bit of cal allowance alternative days …. 1000/1200. I need the scales to move and at the moment the only trajectory I see is window bound 😬. I missed what supplements you take, can you remind me please? When I remember I take a magnesium.

Great news @DownUdderer 👍 Keep on it.

@Remindmeofababe Thank you.

@Ninjachicken Barbi prawns sound tasty 😋 Enjoy your summer ☀️

Menu
Meal 1 - Lamb roast dinner. Mint sauce. Greek yoghurt & chopped pear.
Meal 2 - Mushroom & Basil Omelette
Tea, black coffee & water

@TheRealHousewife yes i'm showing some resolve at dropping back closer to 145-141. i've increased my fasting window (occasionally skipping breakfast) and planning on 800 cal a day, knowing full well dh will arrive daily with...jujubes one day, cinnamon buns or something else that i'm totally unable to resist...large peanut butter cookie (all three of those this week alone).
so he goes out to work the bees, comes home at 3pm for a cappuccino (makes me a latte (more foamed milk and sugar than coffee) and a treat to share. it's his love language ;) and it's a nice time spent together BUT it's easily a 2-400 calorie "snack" which brings me in line with a 1200 calorie day.
he knows that i work hard and plan to get the old body into a slightly less fluffy state but he likes his treats and i have zero willpower when certain stuff is within 2 miles of the house. btw dh is fit healthy within bmi and beekeeping is very labor intensive at this time of year (we're up to 50+ hives)
so i plan 2 low cal meals: today sunday
B: crepes (hoping to have this cover both breakfast and lunch)
S: the carrot parsnip soup with i'm hoping a samosa from the restaurant
with this low cal fasting plan (similar to fast 800 online) i'm not exercising beyond house and yard work.
supplements; by pure synergy (usa based with good reviews) vit a min herb and bone renewal. i take half the recommended amount, which along with my logging shows i'm getting the right amount (not over) of magnesium.

down from 149 to 148.4 and fully plan on 147.?? asap

change of topic :)

first rhubarb harvest of the year!

TheRealHousewife · 26/06/2023 08:59

Morning All

Hi @greenspaces4peace Sounds lovely and I totally understand the language of food love 😋 In regards to shaving some cals off my allowance I’m being mindful because when I did Fast800 12 week course I started losing hair 😨 Which I don’t want to do! I must have the worlds most hungry hair follicles 😅I don’t think I’ve heard of pure synergy. I’ll have a google, thank you. Fresh honey is such a treat and well done for what you’re doing for our beloved bee population 🐝

Menu
Meal 1 - Home made spicy minestrone & vegetable soup - 350 cals
Meal 2 - Salmon fillet, quinoa & salad - 550 cals
Tea, black coffee & water - 100 cals

PS @greenspaces4peace I love rhubarb. Loads of taste, fibre and hardly any sugars/calories 😬

Restartandrefresh · 26/06/2023 10:26

@TheRealHousewife I am also in the club of very hungry hair follicles and have to be extremely careful with eating enough, especially protein and iron (from meat) otherwise I'll end up slim but bald! I've been going with prioritising small amounts of meat, eggs and fish with each meal to help as I would happily be vegetarian if my hair would behave itself.

I've had a whole weekend of healthy eating for the first time in a while. It was nice to have lots of meals out with the family but I am craving my healthy eating habits again. It's great when healthy eating becomes so much the norm that I actually miss it when I take a bit of time off. At the start of this journey I was always craving all the carbs, sugary foods that I needed to cut out, now I'm craving veg + protein.

My plan for eating today is;

  • 1 boiled egg
  • cauliflower with salad + corn bread
  • chicken breast with avocado, tomato and mozzarella
  • 2 black filters, 1 piccolo
  • walnuts, dates and dark chocolate
  • raspberries, blueberries and blackberries with greek yoghurt

@greenspaces4peace I love rhubarb.... especially in an apple crumble :)

TheRealHousewife · 26/06/2023 11:30

@Restartandrefresh I totally agree protein & iron are key to prevent hair loss! I also try to have protein at each meal. Everything has to be nutrient dense when on a relatively low calorie amount. Tasty menu you have there!

OP posts:
DownUdderer · 27/06/2023 08:17

I'm a pound down. Hooray. I'm getting there!

My local corner shop sells the best eggs, they're locally laid, and the yolks are so orange, really tasty. I had some eggs today at lunchtime and they tasted great. So much nicer than the supermarket eggs.

AutisticLegoLover · 27/06/2023 08:38

Morning all. Sorry I've been awol, I had a referral under the 2 week wait for suspected bowel cancer so haven't been in the headspace to even read the thread properly. I'm just waiting for stomach biopsy results but otherwise all looks normal in my insides so that's a huge relief.

52.3kg this morning. 8st 3lb Those few extra lost pounds are due to not being able to eat much for the tests and dehydration. I'm sure I'll regain some of them in a day or two.

I'll try to catch up but hope everyone is doing well and their scales aren't being bastards 😁

Have a great day and don't forget your 🍾 even though it's now much cooler you still need plenty.

TheRealHousewife · 27/06/2023 08:40

Good Morning

Thats great news @DownUdderer! Well done 👍👏

Menu
Meal 1 - 2 Boiled eggs. Homemade spicy vegetable/minestrone soup - 480c.
Meal 2 - Mushroom risotto with grated Parmesan. Greek yoghurt. 500c
Tea, black coffee & water - 100c

Pre WOW weigh suggests a 1lb up! Drat!

ImALittlePea · 27/06/2023 13:35

Hi all!

Back from holiday now, not had a chance to catch up other than a brief skim read. Had a lovely time, it was SO hot, lots of steps running round with the kids and even more lovely food and drink.

Semi back to it now; it may take a few days to wean off holiday mode 😂

Lunch - salad with french dressing, veg cous cous and sweet chilli houmous
Dinner - tbc

Hope everyone is well. Sending you strength and hugs @AutisticLegoLover ❤️

DownUdderer · 28/06/2023 06:11

@AutisticLegoLover fingers crossed for your biopsy results. Be kind to yourself.

I was running around like a headless chicken this morning and couldn't fit breakfast in, but it's just like having an extended fast so I was fine. If I'm busy I don't get hungry. I've got a beef stew in the oven so fingers crossed that turns out ok. I'm hit and miss with cooking! Haha.

AutisticLegoLover · 28/06/2023 07:28

Morning all and thank you. Feeling a little better today.
Wow of 52.9kg.
Hoping all wowers get happy scale results today.

Bikechic · 28/06/2023 08:54

Checking back in. I have let things slip and scales are creeping back up. I can manage without mfp for a few days but I've let it go longer. Time to get back on it. I had got below 11 st, but I'm now 11 st 1lb. No loss for ages.
@TheRealHousewife im interested in how you eat rhubarb with no sugar. I have it in abundance in the garden and would love to eat more of it, but I have to limit due to the sugar I would cook it with.

ImALittlePea · 28/06/2023 09:07

I decided to brave the scales a couple of days early to assess the post holiday damage. Up 2.5lb, which happens to take me neatly to my 'goal' weight of 9st 8lb. Not unhappy with that at all, hopefully I'll have shaved a little off that by Friday.

Today's plan:
Lunch - salad, cous cous and houmous
Dinner - risotto

Good luck to everyone weighing today.

NothingTraLaLa · 28/06/2023 09:35

A very small loss of about half a pound this week. Baby steps!

Continuing with the theme, I had some roasted rhubarb for breakfast with Greek yoghurt, strawberries and a light sprinkling of homemade granola. I can probably halve the sugar next time I cook the rhubarb, but the granola is a lost cause as DD makes that.

WOW:
SW 128 lbs
CW 125.4 lbs
TW 119 lbs

Fingers crossed for you @AutisticLegoLover .

Tessisme · 28/06/2023 11:31

I'm down 1lb this week to 11st 3lb. Contented with that. I'm still following 16:8 and would say it's the least worst weight loss tool I've tried😅 I have been moving my eating window about a little and have settled at fasting 8pm until noon, with the odd 9pm until 1pm. If I have to eat a little bit later for whatever reason, I just push the next day's eating window to a slightly later start time. I don't want to mess around too much or I'll just end up saying 'sod it' and eating any old time!

I'm sorry to hear you're having health concerns @AutisticLegoLover. It's very scary being put on the 2 week wait. I was referred for suspected cancer of the uterus (which my grandmother died of) and I was an absolute wreck by the time of the appointment. But it was all ok. I really wish the same outcome for you.

2.5lb up isn't too bad after a holiday @ImALittlePea. Think of all that fun you had!

I always ignore the ounces on my scales @NothingTraLaLa so there's always a chance I've only lost half a pound, but I don't know, so it didn't happen🤣

Restartandrefresh · 28/06/2023 14:16

@AutisticLegoLover fingers crossed it's nothing serious.

I'm quite happy with my gym 3 times a week + 10k steps a day activity, but maybe there is something more I can do with my diet.... I'm stuck with my weight loss and it's just plateaued for the last couple of months. Does anyone have anything that worked to nudge things along? I'm eating low carb, protein + veg + berries + black coffee + good water intake. My eating window is between 8.30am - 6pm. Maybe there are certain foods that promote weight loss like watermelon? - the last few days I've tried adding in a big portion of watermelon into my evening meal and reducing my dinner portion.

My belly is also stubbornly hanging on to a bulge too - I'm even thinking about speaking to the GP about this because maybe something else is going on like ab muscle separation since my last kid (4 years ago!).

TooEarly4Breakfast · 28/06/2023 14:36

Can I join in? I was on the May thread for a short while and I really need to come back and lose the pounds I regained through emotional eating over the past six weeks.

I weighed this morning, and was down one pound from the weekend. I've started closing the kitchen after my evening meal, and it's already making a difference.

AutisticLegoLover · 29/06/2023 07:35

Two days of June left! I'm still amazed that I actually surpassed my target weight for my birthday. After years and years, probably 2 decades, of saying I'll lose weight for my birthday I finally did it.

Have a great day!

Karatema · 29/06/2023 07:47

Forgot about WOW 🙁
CW: 76.55

So I've stood still this week. That's a surprise! My DMiL died last week and I've been comfort eating and drinking so fully expected to be back to square one!

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 29/06/2023 10:20

Currently heading back from our holidays so haven’t managed to catch up on the whole thread. Thinking of you @AutisticLegoLover 🥰If I have managed to match @ImALittlePea at only 2.5lbs gain I will be very happy. We ate and walked a lot so….. I’ll update tomorrow morning.

Ninjachicken · 29/06/2023 17:56

Hi everyone!
glad you had a good holiday @ImALittlePea
sorry about your health issues @AutisticLegoLover but massive well done on surpassing your birthday weigh in target
@DownUdderer completely agree about the eggs, I have a friend with chickens and the eggs are so lovely and orange

i am maintaining at just over 60 kgs but have still to see the 59 on the scales. I know I need to be stricter for that and am happy for it to be slow
if I can not gain over the summer or even lose a little then I can get back on it properly in the autumn

have a good day all

AutisticLegoLover · 30/06/2023 07:32

Ending the month on 53.35kg so that's me maintaining for over 5 weeks now despite 2 weeks of half term, a birthday and a trip to London and not logging anything except the on odd day. Exercise remains the same walking as usual.Making soup and marinara sauce today as its my day off and time to stock up the freezer.
Good luck to those weighing today.

Hope you all have a great day and I'm reminding myself as well as everyone to drink plenty of 🍾

ImALittlePea · 30/06/2023 07:44

Well done @AutisticLegoLover how are you?

That's a great attitude @Ninjachicken and one that will serve you well longer term too!

Hope you had a lovely holiday @Was126orbustandmaybebust

Sorry for your loss @Karatema well done for STS in the circumstances

Closing the kitchen works for me too @TooEarly4Breakfast - a great tactic I think from @TheRealHousewife!

Well done on your loss @Tessisme

Happy pea over here this morning - 1lb down vs Wednesday. So 1.5lb up since last week, not bad. Still under goal weight, and maintained since the start of June.

Happy Friday everyone.
