⭐️LOSE IT! JUNE 2023 SUMMER SIZZLER⭐️

Summer is here and holiday time is upon us! A new month provides the opportunity to embrace a re-set and refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose as well as those who wish to maintain; to encourage a healthy & varied diet and exercise.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9.5st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back mainly on track. Would love to wave bye to another half a stone 😬

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

Crawling to the end of a night shift here and trying to convince myself that I will go home and have a protein shake or some yogurt and honey (and definitely not stop off at the garage for something heavy in chocolate and pastry..) I have managed to keep the weekend relatively restrained food wise and got a work out in Friday Saturday and Sunday so 🤞 for weigh on Wednesday!!

DownUdderer · 12/06/2023 09:01

My goodness hugs for @Weatherwax13 . I hope France is beautiful for you.

I've been just a bit thoughtless today! We ate out for lunch and then I snacked this afternoon! I'm just doing the opposite of my intentions!!

Tomorrow I'm getting the train, I'm lucky because the train station is just down the hill from us. I'll head into Sydney and then off to Parramatta and a river walk.

TheRealHousewife · 12/06/2023 09:09

Good Morning

Welcome to the thread @Groutyonehereagain Tips? How is your diet now? What are your goals? Some pointers:-

  • Eat real food, including protein, healthy fats & fibre.
  • Aim for 30 varieties of veg/legumes/fruit/nuts/seeds/herbs etc.
  • Plan ahead
  • Use MFP (or similar) to track
  • Get quality sleep
  • Exercise if able
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Reduce/eliminate alcohol
  • No added sugars
  • Portion control - you need to create a calorie deficit to lose.

@MercurialMargot Congratulations on losing and keeping off 10k Margot👍👏

@Weatherwax13 ❤️

@Was126orbustandmaybebust Enjoy your meal out! Allowing yourself tea with milk on your 22/2 is a good call actually. Semi- skimmed milk is near on perfect macro ratio wise fat/protein/carbs 👍 It will aid in keeping you satiated until you eat.

@greenspaces4peace Great distance hiked 👍

Menu
Meal 1 - Home made veg soup.
Meal 2 - Hake, new potatoes, salad.
Tea, black coffee & water.

Hi, joining you all if pos. I'm 49, 5.4 and 168 pounds. I have never dieted.and the weight has gradually gone on though it seems to have accelerated with the menopause. This time last year I was 10 pounds lighter! Going for a big holiday in August for my big birthday and I have had a sudden spurt of determination to get a bit of weight off for it. Will join you for Wednesday weigh ins and hope to get some tips!

Helloworld99 · 12/06/2023 10:03

Morning all
Relatively good weekend. I had an icecream but a healthy lunch and dinner. Ive been making much more sensible choices and not snacking needlessly.
Weighed myself this morn - is it common to gain a couple of pounds when youre on period?? I feel like the answer is yes...

Karatema · 12/06/2023 12:38

After a very alcoholic weekend; a bottle of champers to myself is NOT good!
I'm dreading my weigh in tomorrow 😀

TheRealHousewife · 12/06/2023 12:51

Welcome to the thread @Minervia It’s good that you’ve recognised the gain at only 10lbs in! Dumpling here ‘noticed’ 3 stone later 😮😬. Nonetheless it’s still a shock when you know your general habits haven’t changed and its down to the hormonal stuff. Your target is realistic if you change your eating habits now. Try to make sustainable changes rather than anything restrictive so that once at goal, you’ll find maintaining a breeze (relatively) 👍👏 How are you planning on losing?

@Karatema Of I was going to go off piste and drink my calories Champagne would be top of the list 🍾🍾🍾 Seriously though, chalk it up and move on. Any gain from a drink will soon be gone.

@Helloworld99 Well done on making healthy choices. Most definitely there’s a temporary gain due to fluctuating hormones. You should see a mini whoosh on the other side.

OP posts:
AutisticLegoLover · 12/06/2023 18:46

@Karatema alcohol dehydrated you so you might see a loss unless you've rehydrated since then.

No lunch today as got stuck doing something. Breakfast was the usual porridge. Dinner has been salad leaves, cucumber, olives, beetroot, feta, 2 slices baguette with butter, an ice lolly and 2 shortbread fingers and orange juice to help my iron tablet. No snacks today. Lots of water.

We've got a big storm here and I'm hoping it will clear the air for bedtime.

MercurialMargot · 12/06/2023 21:28

@Helloworld99 yes definitely. I lose a couple kg as my period goes on which I like to pretend is all just me being good and healthy and nothing cyclical, water weight related or hormonal 😁

bernesewalking · 12/06/2023 21:51

Hi, hope you don’t mind me joining, I’m 52 in a few weeks, on hrt, 4 stone over weight and have high cholesterol.
im looking for lots of help and ideas as I’m also an emotional eater.
I wake up every morning with a promise to re start my healthy eating but it soon goes wrong.
I basically don’t know how to eat probably any more, I’ve done slimming world more times than I’d like to mention but always ended up gaining more than I lost.
any help would be appreciated. Thanks

DownUdderer · 13/06/2023 07:20

I didn't weigh this morning. Perhaps I'll remember to weigh tomorrow morning.

I'm eating out for lunch tomorrow. But apartment from that, this week could be a good week.

I've got prawns for dinner tonight, I guess I'll have them with some salad. Just depends what I can find in the fridge. I really need to do a supermarket shop.

AutisticLegoLover · 13/06/2023 08:44

Morning all and a warm welcome to everyone new to the thread. 4 hours sleep last night so I'm a zombie this morning.
Weight is miraculously 54.6kg and I've no idea how considering all the pizza, chips, cinnamon buns and sweets I've eaten over the past 2 weeks along with not doing my usual walking.
Have a great day!

Ninjachicken · 13/06/2023 09:20

Morning all, I have fallen a little off plan but back on it today.
had dinner out and wine this weekend and I had a sausage sandwich for lunch yesterday!

i am going to one of my favourite food shops today and I am going to stock up on lots of healthy things for the week

i am out for lunch today but going to try for an Asian salad or something
hopefully some nice fish for dinner

thinking of you @Weatherwax13 i hope you are getting the rest you need. I also hope the weather is being kind to you, it is being very temperamental with me

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 13/06/2023 11:33

Good morning everyone
I had such a lovely weekend I didn't dare weigh in yesterday so did it this morning instead.
So many great successes and we are all keeping going, despite the blips, which is the most important thing.
127.4lb - this 126lbs is hard to hit but I will try as I will be disappearing for a few weeks on holiday and would like to try and get as low as possible before I do.

TheRealHousewife · 13/06/2023 11:57

Good Morning … it’s hot 🥵.

Welcome to the thread @bernesewalking Sounds like you are feeling quite overwhelmed with the prospect of starting a healthier regime and I totally empathise with that. Look at your diet/exercise now and make small changes rather than anything drastic that wouldn’t be unsustainable. Only yesterday @9:09am I posted some achievable pointers that you might find useful. What’s a typical days eating look like at the moment?

@AutisticLegoLover Not getting enough sleep can be a trigger for snacking or craving carbs. I only notched 5 hours due to the heat. Im being mindful of portions and guzzling the water. Hope you’re not too tired.

@Ninjachicken It happens to all of us at times. You’ve now moved on and back on it which is excellent 👍

@Was126orbustandmaybebust I totally get you. I’m struggling to get out of the 130’s. It gets tougher the nearer to goal we get! We’ll get there eventually 😬

Menu
Meal 1 - Tortilla, omelet and chorizo wrap.

Meal 2 - Spag bol and buttered cabbage. Pear. Orange.
Tea, black coffee and water.

ThreeRingCircus · 13/06/2023 12:18

@Weatherwax13 sending you hugs.

Yesterday I was just so hot I couldn't face my normal jog so ended up not exercising.... I need to make myself go to the gym as that's got air con! Food was ok though:

B - coffee
L - scrambled eggs and beans on granary toast
D - vegetable stir fry
S - an ice lolly and lots of iced tea due to the heat

Today is another hot one and Tuesdays are always a mad dash as DD has swimming after school so dinner has to be something really quick. The plan is:

B - iced coffee
L - protein yoghurt and fruit salad
D - mixed bean, onion and spinach quesadilla

ImALittlePea · 13/06/2023 12:53

Afternoon all! Apologies again for being MIA, summer has fully hit where I am fiiiiiinally and I've been making the most of it 🌞🤩

Welcome to all newbies and high fives to regular posters. Sorry I haven't got the time to reply individually to posts today. Sending warmest thoughts to @Weatherwax13 after the recent anniversary, I hope France is giving you the peace you need.

Yesterday was ok food-wise; normal lunch and freezer dinner.

Today's plan:
Lunch - normal
Dinner - risotto

Took DD to our local paddling pool this morning for a splash around which was loads of fun. About to clean the kitchen while she naps and get the first half of dinner cooked before she wakes and we have to hit the supermarket and do the school run. Trying to build my productivity back up after falling into a slump lately 💪

Trial shift at new place tonight - all the positive manifesting going on as I've really had it with current workplace. All things crossed!

rockingbird · 13/06/2023 16:59

Good I'm depressed today!!! Needed a nice outfit for a swanky work doo.. the changing room mirrors were not kind to me 😕 nothing fitted nicely and I came away feeling so deflated for my little shopping spree. I started the day off so positive - stepped on the scales after my shower and another 2lb down this week but I'm still heavier than I've ever been. It's really hit me hard .. I'm doing intermittent fasting 20/4 and it's actually going OK but right now I could sabotage all that because I'm just a fat cow!! I know I'm being hard on myself and seeing everyone in their lovely summer dresses (all shapes and sizes) I'm so envious they are able to do so. I'm hiding in baggy combats and an oversized t-shirt at all times. Sorry just a putty post.. I'll come back more positive tomorrow.

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 13/06/2023 22:01

@rockingbirdsorry you are feeling down. You may not be where you want to be but you are going in the right direction and getting closer to your target.
I find tons of stuff in local charity shops - really gorgeous nearly new things and if they are too big in 3 months you can also donate them back.
DO NOT SABOTAGE YOURSELF - YOU CAN DO IT
I brushed my teeth at 8.45 tonight to announce to myself that the kitchen is closed and will not be re-opening for food until 1pm tomorrow.

DownUdderer · 14/06/2023 01:29

Clothes shopping can defeat even the best of us! The lighting is unkind the mirrors are always awful. Tru to find something to buy can really be so hard. We've all been there @rockingbird .

I've done my grocery shop. I think I've got myself some good healthy options this week. I've got some salad bits. Some veggies for a soup or stew. I also am at the stage of not buying certain things in, because I don't have the will power to resist them. So I didn't buy in the crisps I absolutely love, I didn't buy myself any chocolate.

I'm up on the scales and it's so annoying!

I did a lovely walk yesterday. But I did grab a sandwich to eat on the train back. I think bread is my nemesis!

AutisticLegoLover · 14/06/2023 06:48

Morning all.
Wowing in at 54.4kg this morning.
Clothes shopping is awful. Why do the changing room mirrors make everyone feel so awful in the clothes? Surely shops would sell more if they had better lighting and mirrors.
Have a great day. It's due to be a degree cooler here today thank goodness because I've got 10 miles to walk and can't keep out of the sun.

ImALittlePea · 14/06/2023 07:37

Sending strength to you @rockingbird we have definitely all been there with clothes shopping! It used to be a hobby for me, I hate it now. Don't like any of the clothes, hate trying them on 😏 don't let it derail you - you can do this!

@DownUdderer when you think about it, it's so simple isn't it - don't buy the food you can't resist! If it isn't in the house, you can't eat it as easily 🤦‍♀️ yes bread is bad for me too, so I avoid it during the week. I find I get hungrier much sooner when I have it.

Hope that's a happy result for you @AutisticLegoLover?

Good luck to WoWers today. I've got a feeling I'll be up again Friday, but trying to be good.

We ended up having baked potato with chilli last night, forgot that risotto is an arse to cook on Tuesdays as DS has clubs and I just don't have the window to make it! So that's on the menu for tomorrow or Friday.

Today's plan:
Lunch - likely normal, maybe ryvita with houmous and salad veggies
Dinner - baked potato with cheese omelette and salad or beans

Positive manifesting worked - I was offered the new job. Got to work my shifts at old place this week, possibly next week too while I wait to be added to the rota, but it's a huge relief and weight off my mind 🤩 did have a glass of wine to celebrate last night, naughty but never mind.

Have a good day all.

Helloworld99 · 14/06/2023 07:41

Morning!
WOW day - 12 stone 1 pound so a loss of 7 pounds in 2 weeks, i'll take that. Essentially been eating 2/3 meals a day and no snacking. This did include an indulgent meal out one weekend and a milk shake another weekend so glad tbats not having a huge impact.

My biggest struggle is getting steps in. I work from home most of the time and my steps come from driving kids to nursery/school. I can't really take time out of work to walk in the day due to my hours, any tips??

Hope everyone sees some positivity on the scales today!

Tessisme · 14/06/2023 07:41

Morning! I'm still 11st 8lb, same as last week. Not too disappointed as 16:8 fasting is making me FEEL better, so I'm just going to keep ploughing on and make a few better food decisions this week. After a really difficult fasting period yesterday morning, I feel better today. I think the weather was giving me a headache. We had a warning of thunderstorms, which was then withdrawn, but the air still felt so heavy. Am I a human barometer?😅

I hate clothes shopping @rockingbird. I can never wait to get my own familiar clothes back on after the shock of seeing myself in those mirrors. It's very disheartening. But keep telling yourself you're heading in the right direction. You sound as though you're doing brilliantly.

Minervia · 14/06/2023 07:44

My first Weigh in Wednesday! I'm 1.1 pounds down. Now 166.6 from 167.8. it's a start! Haven't done any snacking the last couple of days
