⭐️LOSE IT! JUNE 2023 SUMMER SIZZLER⭐️

Summer is here and holiday time is upon us! A new month provides the opportunity to embrace a re-set and refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose as well as those who wish to maintain; to encourage a healthy & varied diet and exercise.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9.5st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back mainly on track. Would love to wave bye to another half a stone 😬

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

Welcome to the thread @MallMoo. Congratulations on your significant progress to date; 40lbs is an awesome loss 👏👏👏

Bless ya @ImALittlePea it sounds tough! Here's hoping the little one soon recovers. If I lived nearby I'd pop over and watch the little ones whilst you got some sleep! Disruptive sleep disrupts hormones thus increasing cravings. What about a hot drink/stock/hot ribena etc to take the edge off.

I've said it once but I'll say it again ... it's blummin freezing 🥶 I remember back in the late eighties we had significant snow fall in June ⛄️ Yes really!

Well, I've weighed again this week and have maintained. Unsurprising after bank holiday/half term getting me off plan but I'm not worrying too much as I know from the past couple of months I seem to maintain or even gain a bit then a few lbs will come off over the following weeks. Just going to keep on at it and try not to let one bad day turn into a bad week.

SW: 14st 11lbs
CW: 13st 13lbs
GW: 11st

TheRealHousewife · 01/06/2023 16:55

Not a bad result considering you’ve been off piste @ThreeRingCircus 😬STS is a win really 👍

OP posts:
AutisticLegoLover · 01/06/2023 18:19

Yep STS definitely a win!

I'm making homemade veggie burgers for dinner tonight. It's a messy unpleasant process but I hope they taste nice. I can't cope with eggs so I've used cream to coat them and make the breadcrumbs stick. That was the horrible bit as it all sticks in clumps. There must be better ways. Air fryer chips are going with them. Not easy on the calories but good on the veg. Fingers crossed.

ImALittlePea · 01/06/2023 20:52

Thank you @TheRealHousewife that would be such a treat! Got her to the docs today and she's got some antibiotics now so hopefully improves over the next 24h. Tomorrow's weigh in will be what it is, and I'll reset once the oldest is back at school. Can't fixate on it too much (or undo the choices already made) now!

Well done @ThreeRingCircus 🥳

Hope the burgers were worth the effort @AutisticLegoLover

rockingbird · 01/06/2023 23:36

Can I join you all please. I'm currently intermittent fasting, it's going OK I'm in week 2. I really need to keep focused so hoping this will help!

DownUdderer · 02/06/2023 01:00

@rockingbird welcome! I've found this thread helpful and friendly. I try and eat my breakfast late, so a sort of lazy half-arsed fasting window. But I definitely don't snack after finishing my evening meal, and I'm sure that's really helped me.

greenspaces4peace · 02/06/2023 05:20

I survived day 1!
weighed in
3 light meals
2L of water
45 minutes of exercise (15 minute intervals x3)
multivits

TheRealHousewife · 02/06/2023 08:32

Good Morning

@greenspaces4peace Sounds like yesterday was a positive day. I break my exercise down into small chunks. It’s the only way my knackered body can manage it 😬 One day at a time will get you there Green ❤️

@rockingbird Welcome to the thread. Like @DownUdderer said, not snacking between meals and cleaning & closing the kitchen after your last meal will definitely help. Ultimately, in simple terms people who wish to lose need to create a calorie deficit. Although we are all aware there are many aspects to weight management including but not exclusively exercise, hormones, illness, meds, sleep quality, water intake, body composition etc. It’s also said you can’t exercise your way out of a bad diet. Nutritious healthy varied foods is the way to go.

@ImALittlePea Hows your little one? Did she (and you) have a more settled night 🤞

@AutisticLegoLover How was your veggie burgers? I’ve not tried cream as a coating. If you are pan frying and milk and cornflour ‘batter’ would work. Pan needs to be moderate and it involves a drizzle or spray of oil in the pan.

The other half’s fancies a lemon cheese cake so I’m going to be up against it this weekend as it’s hard to resist. Might have to have a small portion 😬

Menu
Meal 1 - Minestrone soup. GF cob.
Meal 2 - Pan fried salmon and stir fried red peppers, onion, broccoli, garlic, kale, garden peas. Small amount of pre-cooked quinoa added.
Tea, black coffee and water.

@DownUdderer im a big fan of the lazy half arsed fasting window. I find it really helpful to have an evening cut off.

ImALittlePea · 02/06/2023 09:09

Morning gang. Surprised by my weigh in today - I've lost 1/2lb. Not sure I deserve it, but I'll take it; no doubt I'll have a reverse whoosh next week (although hopefully not, as I'll be back on plan when the biggest is back at school).

Welcome @rockingbird I've found this thread has really kept me on track since I first joined 18m ago - I've found myself remaining more accountable to myself because of posting on here, and there's never any judgement or spikiness.

Yay to surviving day 1 @greenspaces4peace!

Wishing everyone a positive Friday. I'm in a better headspace today, got better sleep and antibiotics seem to have kicked in quickly for DD as she's in much better spirits 🤞 now just need this blasted weather to sort itself out; I'm in my winter cardigans and it's JUNE, FFS! Come on out now, sunshine!

ImALittlePea · 02/06/2023 09:15

Cross posted @TheRealHousewife I was still up in the night but only once, so much improved and all happier and bouncier overall this morning.

I love lemon desserts! They have to be very tangy though.

Yes to lazy I/Fing over here too! I don't tend to eat until midday, we often eat with the kids around 4.30/5 too so sometimes our eating window is only 5-6 hours. But I'm not strict, technically I break it earlier with my cups of tea, but I find the benefit is more in the change to my appetite overall. I used to eat breakfast and then need to snack before lunch; now I don't tend to feel hungry at all until lunch, nor in between meals.

TheRealHousewife · 02/06/2023 10:08

@ImALittlePea Sounds like your little one has turned a corner! Well done on your loss 👍. I think anything lemony needs to be tangy. Tangier the better 😬

Day 2 went well!
starting with a 4mile walk on an empty stomach.
broke fast with a nice lunch with loads of veggies.
supper was equally veggie full.
2L water
multivits

several good food options in the fridge
including the j.o. best bircher, which has lots of fruit in it. easy to weigh out portion/calorie amount.
ready for day 3

AutisticLegoLover · 03/06/2023 10:28

Morning all and what a glorious one it is!
I've just realised I've not used mfp in 10 days and want to get back on it. It's been half term and we had a take away last night. Just noodles and spring rolls but not my normal diet at all. Breakfast is always porridge. Due to eating things I normally don't my stomach was like a balloon last night. It's better this morning. Lots of salt to get rid off so lots of water today.
Hope you all have a great weekend!

rockingbird · 03/06/2023 11:45

Thanks for the welcome, fasting is going OK.. the thought of a summer holiday in a bikini is keeping me going ☺️ lots of cleaning to do today so lots of moving! I've signed up to own your goals to get some exercise in at home 💪 my aim is a fitness class a day.

Ninjachicken · 03/06/2023 12:37

Just checking in to say I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.
i am still half a kilo up on where I was so really need to stay in plan but I am out to lunch tomorrow so not likely
welcome @rockingbird and it’s good to see you back and motivated @greenspaces4peace
enjoy the weekend

greenspaces4peace · 03/06/2023 20:15

hello from canada.
morning weight done (i'll report back on that in a few days ;) )
breakfast on plan at 214 calories, although i measured this meal out ideally i would like to be able to self moderate without weighing my food.

lunch and supper both are planned and reasonable.
exercise done, a nice 45 minute bike ride and since it's only noon i expect i'll fit in at least 15 minutes of a fitness walk video.
multivits happening, i take half in the am and half in the pm
water happening.
it's hot and sunny here and my biggest worry is my swiss chard, light gardening in progress.

positive thoughts everyone is having or has had a successful day.

DownUdderer · 04/06/2023 06:24

Fingers crossed my dd is back to school tomorrow. I'm pretty sure she's ready to go back.

I've snacked this weekend. I'll try and focus a bit better tomorrow.

I've been stressed because dd is unwell. She ended up in hospital last time so this time I've been on high alert. I know that is daft really. Normally I'd just eat through my stress. I'd just eat and eat and eat. So I've allowed myself some snacks, but I've tried to be mindful and enjoy them and only have small snacks.

Ninjachicken · 04/06/2023 09:59

Thinking of you @DownUdderer that sounds tough. Well done on still trying to be mindful about what you eat, I don’t know if I would be as strong! I hope your daughter is back to school tomorrow and recovered ❤️

ElfDragon · 04/06/2023 11:00

Can I join you all?

I have been half heartedly thinking about doing something about my weight for a while. Have been overweight for years - a combination of pregnancies, unhappy marriage leading to comfort eating, and a sedentary lifestyle. I don’t like diets, have always subscribed to eating a balance of foods etc, but have lost sight of that in recent years and have clearly been eating too much!

I am now trying 16:8, with no restrictions (other than sensible portions, and keeping an eye on how much crap I eat) during my eating window. I think I started about 10 days ago. My weight when I started was 82.5kg.

I weighed myself this morning, and scales showed 80.7kg. Next goal is to get under 80kg - small goals, so that it feels achievable and I don’t get discouraged.

Lifeisntadressrehearsal · 04/06/2023 11:39

Hi, I'd like to join and have this thread keep me on track and motivated by your updates.

I've been doing the fast 800 keto diet for 2 weeks and have lost just over 10lbs - started at 12.11 and now 12.0.8. Am measuring myself on Sundays as lost cms is more meaningful- as more interested what I look like than what I weigh ( weight going down is nice though
😁).

I'm not very tall so would like to lose at least another 2 stone ( will depend on what I look like along the way).

I did the fast 800 diet in 2019 so am aware of the principles but like the tweaks with the keto version.

Am using keto sticks - really motivational to keep me in ketosis and keep on track!

Also, doing IF, so skip breakfast and have lunch at 12ish and then dinner early evening - not finding this a hardship. Making sure I'm drinking loads of water.

Initial motivation is going on holiday at the end of July but wanting to sort myself for the long term as am in my 50's and want to lead a healthy long life!

Looking forward to sharing your journeys 💪.

AutisticLegoLover · 04/06/2023 11:50

Morning all and welcome newbies! I really must do better today.

DownUdderer · 05/06/2023 04:23

My dd is back at school, so I'm really pleased. Just a huge sigh of relief!

I've had a good morning and I've been grocery shopping so I've got some good friends lined up for the week.

I find myself most comfortable when I know what my next meal is going to be and when I've got a healthy snack planned. This afternoon I'll have a banana and a handful of nuts which is actually so tasty.

Welcome @Lifeisntadressrehearsal and welcome @ElfDragon .

AutisticLegoLover · 05/06/2023 08:09

Right, Monday here we are and I'm going to make better choices from now. I've enjoyed half term treats, weight is stable, soup to make, walks to do. My hay fever has started up over the weekend and my eyes are itchy and chest tight. An annual joy despite medication.
I'm glad poorly peeps are back to school!
Dds both have GCSEs today. Ds has another week of half term which is nice. I've promised him the skate park and a bike ride.
I'm going to make broccoli and cheese soup today. Does anyone have a favourite soup to share?
Hope everyone has a great day. Keep up with the 🍾
