⭐️LOSE IT! JUNE 2023 SUMMER SIZZLER⭐️

Summer is here and holiday time is upon us! A new month provides the opportunity to embrace a re-set and refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose as well as those who wish to maintain; to encourage a healthy & varied diet and exercise.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9.5st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back mainly on track. Would love to wave bye to another half a stone 😬

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 17/06/2023 13:11

I love the determination on this thread even when people are finding it tough - Yay us! It is not easy sometimes especcially when we are feeling emotionally wobbily Flowers
So this morning I weighed in at 126.6lbs which I will take.
This will be the last weigh in until the start of July - unless our holiday villa happens to have a set of scales 😇- and as we are off to Sicily I suspect I may be a tad heavier on my return.
I commit to walking every day I am away and not eating just for the sake of it/when I am not hungry. In the UK I now always stop when I feel pleasantly full so I will try to keeping doing that no matter how delicious the remains might be.
I will be checking in on the thread for Thinspo while away.

greenspaces4peace · 17/06/2023 14:31

@Ninjachicken yesterday was good. I’m certain I can replicate that today. BUT problems ahead, fathers day, and a road-trip. i’ll try planning but it’s going to be hard/near impossible.
@Was126orbustandmaybebust enjoy italy!!

greenspaces4peace · 17/06/2023 14:33

@Ninjachicken well done on the loss! The .6 is real motivation to stay focused.

Shellwedance · 17/06/2023 18:48

Evening all,

Am 2lbs down so far but that’s my usual pattern of being good for 2 days, losing then stalling so I’m not getting too excited. But I do feel in a better frame of mind and more in control so am hopeful.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

DownUdderer · 18/06/2023 06:22

I track my weight with an app. It provides a graph. I literally only like to see a downward trend, it really pleases me. I've been on it today and deleted the points on the graph where I had a re-gain! I've lost those pounds again now so I'm not lying to myself, I'm just ignoring that re-gain! My graph has a downward trend now, and a long plateau. It's just a little silly app that only I look at!!

Today at lunchtime all my family grabbed burgers and chips from a little favorite spot near us. I decided not to have any today. I'll have something next time. I had some soup, and that's ok.

AutisticLegoLover · 18/06/2023 14:11

@DownUdderer I love the happy scale app graph. I love the downward trend even with the blips. Mine is attached below. It brings me great joy.

54.1kg this morning and I had a chip barm for dinner last night. Well 3/4 of one as shared with ds.

We took part in a carnival yesterday and had fun. My friend has taken photos and I can't see that I look slim in them even though I am. It's weird. I don't think I'll ever see myself as slim. I've been wearing dresses all week and I never wear dresses except on the rarest of occasions. I've not even worn a cardigan. Unheard of.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend !

greenspaces4peace · 18/06/2023 14:28

@DownUdderer &@AutisticLegoLover
I was looking over my cronometer app graph yesterday and was actually pleased.
last year I was over 160, took me till October to reach 141. Then I stopped logging and it crept back up to 151.
BUT my graph from 2016 likewise shows a slow steady downward trend. My creepy plateau over 7-8 months staying in the (high) 140’s have been my lowest weight in multiple years!!
long winded but I’m pleased to be weighing less and less despite it being a slow process with a few setbacks.

TheRealHousewife · 18/06/2023 20:12

Wow, it’s been busy on here! Where did the weekend go? Currently I’m melted into a soggy mess and about to have my 3rd shower of the day! It’s so hot and sticky 🥵

Menu
Meal 1 -Roast chicken dinner. Strawberries and ice cream.
Meal 2 - Home made veg soup. GF bread.

I intend to read up after shower 🚿 Hope you’re all coping in the heat.

Just caught sight of your post @pinkyponkyplink … My weight went on over about 3 years or so. Approximately half the gain was seen off by Fast800 over 12 weeks. The way of eating was very similar to what I was already eating, just less of it! Then I upped my calories to around 1100 as I found I was losing hair. The other half was lost over about a year and half. Then I gained some back due to thyroid disease. Once I was on thyroxine I started losing again. Currently I’m about half stone away from goal. It’s proving stubborn and I’m maintaining. I strongly advise against doing any quick fixes as ultimately it won’t be sustainable and you’ll rapidly re-gain the weight plus some. What complicates things for me is I’m disabled and I’m limited to what calories I can expend on exercise plus I’m only 5 ft on a good day. Ask yourself how slowly/quickly your gain went on. It always takes longer to lose fat and not just water weight or even muscle. That’s a massive mistake a lot of people make. They do drastic measures, lose water weight and muscle mass which ultimately makes it more difficult to lose the fat. Muscle burns fat off as it ticks over 24/7. Eat real food (but have a calorie deficit) in adequate portions which include protein, fibre and healthy fats. Keep hydrated too. Do strength based exercises to build up muscle mass. Ultimately you need a calorie deficit to lose fat. Good luck 🤞

I'm feeling positive today :)

My food has been good, I've managed my steps. I've been grocery shopping and got some salmon for dinner tonight. Yum.

Allthegoodnamestakken · 19/06/2023 08:59

Morning all,
trying to start this week off well with a positive attitude.
As you’re all getting heat it’s getting colder here! I had to light the fire yesterday.
Don’t have meals planned yet as I plan to go through the freezer and fridge shortly and make a plan for the week. I’ve really gotten out the habit of meal planning and it definitely means I end up eating more crap

ImALittlePea · 19/06/2023 12:57

Afternoon all!

Not had a chance to catch up with thread - sorry. Will try and find time later.

In the meantime, weekend was hectic, did a lot of walking, finished up at my old job and celebrated 🥴😬 don't think food choices were too bad.

Busy week ahead too, various appointments upcoming, and got first proper shift at new job. Then we're off on a little holiday for a few days. Going to weigh Thursday and hope I've chipped the few oz I've put on the last couple of weeks away. Got to be super mindful and up the water, even though I'm already feeling in 'fuck it'/holiday mode. Having said that, managed to stick to my normal lunch today, so I'm happy with that start.

Lunch - cup-a-soup special
Dinner - not sure, possibly loaded pasta and pesto or baked potato and beans

Off to try on all the dresses I bought last summer to see what still fits. Should have done this a couple of weeks ago as there's no time to replace prior to holiday if it's all too big, but I'm sure I'll have plenty to take away and maybe clear some space too. Let's see 😬🤞

greenspaces4peace · 19/06/2023 20:54

sounds busy @ImALittlePea , keep on poking along at the good food choices!
@Allthegoodnamestakken i'm in canada and a location known to get very hot, so june 1, i paired down the bedding. put away the duvet...except for a few hot days i've been going to bed with my winter pj's and socks on my feet...i need to be careful and not jinx the area with an insane heat wave though.
morning weigh-in was good and very motivating.
a quick weight chart review and this l o n g journey of mine is for the most part successful and going in a downward trend (we're talking 6-7 years here).
so i'm safely under 150 and aiming to me 145 by the months end.
ideally my long term goal would be to maintain my weight in the 138-142 zone? 141 being normal bmi.

DownUdderer · 20/06/2023 04:24

I've had a good morning food wise. I had a yogurt for breakfast and then I used up some salmon for a quick lunch. Yum.

My dd doesn't have to take her daily puffer for asthma anymore! I'm glad for her. I'm relieved! One step forward for her. My shoulders have settled back down.

greenspaces4peace · 20/06/2023 04:41

@DownUdderer well done to your dd, and the good food choices.
9pm here; I’m pleased with todays food choices and I fit in some mild exercise closing all my “circles”.
breakfast prepped from the online fast 800 program; oatmeal with chia seeds and almond milk.

AutisticLegoLover · 20/06/2023 07:26

Morning all. Lovely to see some positive posts. My choices are not great beyond breakfast and lunch but I've got lots going on with my health and family stuff so I've been mainlining sweets. The whole packet of chocolate raisins in bed with my book and the cat last night should help with the constipation though 😁
My weight loss deadline is this week and I'm steady at just under 54.5kg so I'm happy with that.
Have a great day everyone and hope you enjoy the rain after all the best if that's how your weather is lately. I'm so glad it's cooler.

Restartandrefresh · 20/06/2023 07:31

Can I join?

I switched up my diet and exercise almost 2 years ago. Have gone from size 14 / waist 32 to size 12 or 10 / waist 29 or 30.

My goal is to get comfortably to size 10 / waist 29 so I’m nearly there. Also, would like a toned stomach as I have a bulging flabby pouch!! Progress has been very slow and I need the motivation to accelerate this final part.

I’m eating low carb and low sugar with lots of veggies, meat + fish + eggs for protein and have limited dairy to greek yoghurt + small amounts of cheese.

Yesterday’s food was;

  • 2 boiled eggs
  • almond & coconut cake
  • dhaal, okra & 2 tbspn rice + greek yoghurt
  • 3 oatcakes with almond butter
  • chickpea pancakes with minced beef & peppers & tomato with cabbage
  • 2 black coffees + 1 iced latte

M step count was 20K as I had a meeting on the other side of town and decided to walk. I usually aim for 10k daily and yoga 3 - 4 times a week.

TheRealHousewife · 20/06/2023 08:46

Good Morning

@greenspaces4peace I mostly pre-enter my meals on MFP too! It really does help to stay on track with calories and deciding what to have. My journey is nearly as long as yours at 6 ish years 😮 Started 2017. That’s when I started these threads or a version of these threads on MN.

Welcome to the thread @Restartandrefresh Your menu looks delish 😋

@DownUdderer Fantastic on the puffer news! Well done your dd!

@ImALittlePea How did your dress try on go? In one way it’s great if they are all too big 😉 Belts might help sinch them in.

@Allthegoodnamestakken The weather has been crazy! About 10 days ago we needed fire on too. Today is refreshingly cooler.

@AutisticLegoLover sounds a perfect night! Cuddling cat and a good book!

Menu
Meal 1 - Home made vegetable soup as per. Pear.
Meal 2 - Hake, skin on boiled new potatoes, peas & carrots. Greek yoghurt & strawberries.
Tea, black coffee & water.

I know it's not WOW but not sure I'll have scales available tomorrow so went for it.
CW: 76.30
SW: 78.00
TW: 70

If I ever get to my target weight I'll be delighted. Patience is not my virtue but I know I'll never keep it up if I go for it in a big way 🙄

TheRealHousewife · 20/06/2023 10:02

@Karatema thats a great loss! Well done. 👍

OP posts:
ImALittlePea · 20/06/2023 13:08

Sounds like you're in the zone @greenspaces4peace - keep it up!

Well done @DownUdderer and yay for a happy change for DD!

Hope all is well @AutisticLegoLover I'm enjoying the momentary coolness today.

Welcome @Restartandrefresh 😁

Great result @Karatema well done!

@TheRealHousewife about 1/5 of the wardrobe is now ready to be listed. I tried belts on with everything, just in case the dresses were cinchable, but the style/shape just doesn't suit me any more. Only around three from last year though, and I actually found that a couple of bits suited me better now! Quite a cathartic hour spent, and hopefully I'll sell a few bits to buy some new pieces.

Having such a childcare juggle this week with appointments, but very thankful for help from family and friends. Once appointment done this morning (pre holiday beautifying 😆), one more this afternoon (new job related). One for DS tomorrow, and then work. Going to try and pack what I can tonight as I don't want to be blue-arsed-flying around the place Thursday morning. Once we're on the road I'll relax, but the mental load of getting ready for a break away with two littles is a lot (as many of you will know!) let alone with a busier-than-normal week of happenings. It'll be worth it though when we get there.

Menu today:
Lunch - normal cup-a-soup affair
Dinner - spaghetti bolognese. I will avoid the garlic bread 😬
Lots of water and a few cups of tea

TTFN!

Remindmeofababe · 20/06/2023 20:38

I am so bad at posting on this thread and so good at self sabotage!

Quick skim through posts, looking like some.amazing progress. Great work.

Anyone else end up eating more when it's hot? Most people I know say that the heat saps their appetite. All the heat does for.me.is make.more lethargic and then I eat.more!

Tha ks to @AutisticLegoLover I have downloaded an app and am going to see if a graph helps keep me accountable.

I am doing ok so far this week (only Tuesday) but stuck to intermittent fasting plan with no snacks of an evening and loads of water. Feel less bloated, which is good. Trying to reduce carbs which is hard as my family always comment about me not having very much food on my plate! Pre teen daughter and I am v conscious of setting good example.

Happy Tuesday Eve everyone.

DownUdderer · 21/06/2023 04:22

I've just been out for lunch. Today I chose whatever I really wanted, ate until I felt satisfied and enjoyed it. I often leave a lot on my plate and I'm fine with that. I know my mum says she can't do that and she likes to empty her plate. I prefer to enjoy the taste of the food and I don't like feeling too full it can often mean an uncomfortable afternoon.
