⭐️LOSE IT! April 2023 Countdown to Summer⭐️

Summer countdown starts here! The holidays are right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

Thank you for the new thread. I must do better this month to eat more healthily and include more vegetables. I'll check in on Monday with my starting weight.

Weatherwax13 · 29/04/2023 12:44

Thanks heaps @TheRealHousewife
Plan from Monday. Keep strictly to 16:8 and watch those coffees: too many lattes sneaking in.

Fara22 · 29/04/2023 14:02

Keeping on keeping on here - I will be back for May after a weekend away. Thank you for the new thread @TheRealHousewife!

Superdashmama · 29/04/2023 14:23

@AutisticLegoLover has pointed me in the direction of this thread as I started a new one. Reposting from there….

Long story short;

Had my second baby then lost a parent, then lived through a pandemic and emerged ok but overweight out of it all.

The last 18 months I’ve doubled down on diet and being active (10k steps a day + 3 yoga classes a week). I’m getting close to a healthy weight for me but need to shift the last stone.

Looking for motivation, inspiration, ideas and to connect to others trying to do the same. Especially those who like me are almost there and need the last push!

I would quite like to lose about 1.5 stone in the next 3 months, in a healthy way.

My typical food in a day is something like;

  • 2 boiled eggs
  • Fish + avocado + greens
  • Beef or chicken or 1/2 baked potato + cabbage & carrots
  • handful walnuts
  • 2 dates
  • 2 squares dark chocolate
  • berries + greek yoghurt
  • 2 small cups filter coffee

Once a week I have toast with eggs and beans & a baked good (pastry / cinnamon bun) & a homemade dessert like apple crumble

This week I’m trying to up my water intake which I’m usually not great with.

I’m early 40s, with 2 kids and full time work so busy schedule. Don’t take much time off which can lead to some stress if I’m honest.

Any tips / ideas / fellow journeyers welcome!

Autumndays22 · 29/04/2023 16:05

Please can I join you guys? I’ve been reading the last thread and it’s helped motivate me - now I would like to join to help my accountability!
I started in April and hoping to be a healthy BMI by August for our family holiday.

SW 13 stone
CW 12 stone 7lbs
Initial GW 12 stone by end of May
GW 11 stone by mid-August
Let’s do this!

TheRealHousewife · 29/04/2023 20:19

Lovely to see you all join again @Weatherwax13 @AutisticLegoLover @Fara22 👍

@Superdashmama Congratulations & condolences 💐 Tips? All I can say is I know how tough it is to lose the last bit of weight. You’ll need motivation, consistency, tenacity and to be able to remain in the right headspace. That said, it isn’t impossible 🤞

@Autumndays22 Great to read you’ve been inspired by reading our threads. Te people on here are supportive & inspiring in equal measure 👍

@Fara22 Enjoy your break! See you when you return.

Thank you @TheRealHousewife . I have been so inspired by some people’s stories of weight loss already.
I lost 2.5 after my second baby during the lockdowns, helped by not having anything to do except daily exercise! Now I’m in a similar position to @Superdashmama with two kids, work and very little available time. But feeling motivated!
I hope to try and work in the 30 day shred exercises to my day in May

Retsina24 · 29/04/2023 21:22

Joining.
Started in the middle of April. Have lost 6lbs so I'm pleased with my start. However, had a bad couple of days food wise celebrating a family birthday so need to get back to healthy choices tomorrow before I undo my good work.

Lots of luck for everyone for May

Superdashmama · 30/04/2023 07:15

Thank you @TheRealHousewife I’m feeling motivated! :)

I know if I carry on doing the same as I have the last 18 months I will lose the weight gradually. I would like to use May to tweak my diet and exercise to accelerate my weight loss.

When I joined the gym I got a 20 min weights based programme made for me, which I hardly do! I’m going to aim to add this in 2 - 3 times a week, in my lunch breaks.

Remindmeofababe · 30/04/2023 07:17

Morning all.
April has been fairly up and down with me losing/gaining the same four pounds. V frustrating.
Pledges for May are:
Drink even more water
Get up and get moving in the morning.
Stick to 16:8
Walk every day

Will weigh tomorrow and report back on starting weight.

Have a lovely Sunday.

roseapothecary · 30/04/2023 07:20

Can I join please? I lost 2 stone early last year and have been stuck since then, with at least another 2 stone to loss.

Summerslimtime · 30/04/2023 07:27

Whoop whoop!! I may as well join as I am dieting through May, June and July. First ever family holiday abroad in August. I'll be doing calorie counting and saying no to everything (isn't it strange how this actually works 😂). I'll weigh in on Wednesday. I'm saying goodbye to chocolate today and having some alone time with crisps.

TooEarly4Breakfast · 30/04/2023 07:36

Can I join in? I've started yoyoing, and need to stop. I'm trying IF, and it turns out to suit me quite well. Atm, the eating window is roughly 9am-7pm. I want to reduce that to 10am-6.30pm. Want to lose one pound weekly, and create good lifelong habits.

TheRealHousewife · 30/04/2023 09:31

Good Morning

Welcome to the thread @TooEarly4Breakfast @Summerslimtime @roseapothecary @Retsina24 👍

@Summerslimtime How exciting for you! Getting beach ready is excellent motivation 👍

@roseapothecary Congrats on your 2stone loss👍. Great progress!

@Remindmeofababe Good pledges. Refresh and reaffirm daily 👍

@Superdashmama Weights/strength training are so important. They maintain or build muscle mass which in turn burns more calories overall.

@Retsina24 Good start 👍

Plan your intentions, your meals, your exercise sessions and follow through for success 👌

Morning Losers!! Checking in for the month, determined to get a bit more off in May than I did in April (and wondering if this might be the month my husband notices 🙄)

Best of luck everyone 😘

TheRealHousewife · 30/04/2023 11:17

Morning @Bumblebeehum 😬 I’m also looking for a bigger loss in May! Fingers crossed your dh notices your progress!

JollyJellyCat · 30/04/2023 17:51

I'd like to be in for May please! I don't have a lot to lose (maybe half a stone) but I've slipped into bad habits and am at the top end of my happy weight.

A month of calorie counting on 1600 a day will hopefully help me reset. I use my fitness pal - I know its not that accurate but it works for me! I need group motivation so I will be following the thread closely even if I don’t post much.

Autumndays22 · 30/04/2023 21:32

I’m using my fitness pal too, it’s the only way I find effective for me. Calorie deficit through less food and more movement. Hoping that I don’t fall off the wagon too much next weekend with the coronation celebrations.
Fingers crossed we’re all good losers in May 🤞

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 30/04/2023 22:17

Hello! Some of you may remember me from last year.

In January this year I joined weight watchers with 2 friends who are much more overweight than me (one has diabetes, and a couple of other health issues, the other had a stroke a few years ago but apart from childhood and up to early 20s has been obese. I won’t lie and say I love WW and I actually don’t track much now. But I love the classes and also some of the recipes and just the mindset and support. It’s great how everyone spurs each other on and our coach is great, she has her weaknesses which she tells us about!

Anyway since January I’ve almost lost a stone bar 4llb and the llbs are dropping every week, slow and steady. I actually want to exercise and be more active and though I still do reach for bad stuff sometimes I think twice about it too.

So I thought I’d pop back and I’ll try to update here too on a regular basis if that’s ok.

I hope everyone else’s journeys have gone well too!

Hello @GonnaGetGoingReturns Yes I remember you and I’m sure others will too. Lovely to see you ❤️ What you’ve shared is very inspiring and I’m happy that you found your tribe. Congratulations & Well done on your loss 👏👏👏You are most welcome to share and post as often or as little as you fancy 👍

Welcome to the thread @JollyJellyCat, I’m also a big fan of my fitness pal. I find it accurate for me as I’ve used it for several years and most of my cal/macro entries are what I’ve created myself over that time 😬 I have very little processed food and have created recipes from scratch.

@Autumndays22 I tried to create some wiggle room for the Coronation Celebrations. I’m really looking forward to it and I will be having quiche & salad, cake and a glass or 2 of champagne 🍾

DownUdderer · 01/05/2023 04:20

Hello May thread!

I'm hoping that by the end of this month my jeans will fit me and I can sit down in them!

My weight this morning was really disconcerting, I'd gone up a pound when I thought I'd go down a pound. I wish I hadn't weighed. I will not let it get to me. Perhaps it's hormonal.

It's just so easy to put on weight and it feels harder to lose it! Actually I think I'm being impatient.

I'm going to try and have soup this week, it can be quick and easy and I can chuck quite a few veggies in it.

I had an eye test this morning and my eyes are fine for another two years! I'm glad. I hope everyone will have a great May.

ginsparkles · 01/05/2023 07:03

Happy 1st of May everyone!

Was very cross with myself yesterday as I tried to find an outfit for a family lunch and nothing looked right.

So time to take this bull by the horns! See you all tomorrow morning for accountability!

Frozentinkerbelle1 · 01/05/2023 07:54

Hi everyone. I would like to join in. My weight has been going wrong way for some time. I lack the willpower - I've done sw before but doesn't work for me.

SW 12st 8lb

Want to lose weight by end of July when I'm going to Spain.

Any suggestions would be great.

Hoping accountability will help.

Superdashmama · 01/05/2023 08:51

@Frozentinkerbelle1 When I started out 18 months ago I was a jean size 34 and am 30 now. I’m also aiming to lose more by this summer. What helped me was;

  1. walking 15k steps a day (i started with 10k in the first week then added 1k more each week)
  2. reducing carbs (bread, pasta, potatoes & rice)
  3. writing down what I ate

I did just these three things for a few months to kick start some healthy habits. Then started adding in more changes every few months.

I also reward myself for sticking to these changes and buy myself a new wardrobe item every 3 months! I have lost some weight every three months so it’ also a great way to make sure I have clothes to wear that fit well :)
