⭐️LOSE IT! April 2023 Countdown to Summer⭐️

Summer countdown starts here! The holidays are right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

@DivaRainbow welcome:) drink plenty of water, twice as much as you'd think:)

instantpotnoodle · 02/05/2023 11:27

Hello! Need to remember to weigh in tomorrow. Bank hol has thrown me already!

Citygirlrurallife · 02/05/2023 14:32

Hello please can I join - sounds like exactly the thread I’m looking for.

I’m 5’9” and usually oscillate somewhere between 133-141lbs but it’s steadily turned less into muscle and more into fat and I turn 40 in just under 2 weeks so want to get back into good habits I used to have. Had hip surgery 2 years ago and have finally got back into a habit of doing 30-40mins of strength 3x a week just at home, and really notice the pain in my hip returning when I don’t do it

I freelance and just came off a big job that’s had me drinking lots of booze but also lots of water so I’m ditching the former and keeping the latter. Will prob have a drink on my birthday.

going to Italy with 4 best friends - who are all ripped gay men - in July so Ma motivated to get back into the summer clothes I love but are too tight now.

have had success on IF in the past but also I’m a sucker for bored evening snacking so again just want to break that habit. I had a tummy bug over the weekend so an inadvertent FD and am going to do 2 a week until my July holiday and also do 16:8 (I don’t tend to eat breakfast anyway so this is to stop the pointless evening snackage). I’m vegan and tend to eat healthily - I just eat too much!

SW: 145lbs (last week)
MW: 134lbs (by 30th June)

Create and keep habits:
2x heartbeat raising cardio a week (my bike just got serviced and I love cycling so hoping this will be easy enough)
3x strength a week
drink lots of water
for now no booze
no evening snacking
for now, 2x FD a week then maintain with 1

Citygirlrurallife · 02/05/2023 14:38

Oh and I have one of those body fat scales, last week when I weighed in it said 26.3% which while not awful isn’t great, so I’d also like to get down to 22 which I think is achievable and maintainable

Superdashmama · 02/05/2023 15:41

I'm at the tail end of a cold so still a bit congested but got back to the gym at lunch time today and will aim for 10k steps.

So far I've eaten:

  • raspberries & greek yoghurt with a teaspoon of honey
  • 1 boiled egg
  • black beans, roast peppers and a tablespoon of brown rice
  • 3 pieces dark chocolate
  • 2 cups black filter coffee

Later, I will have;

  • blueberries
  • braised chicken thigh with coleslaw
  • walnuts
  • lemon, ginger, honey tea (need to shift this blocked up sinus-ey thing)

I am pushing myself with diet, exercise, sleep and work this week (have a big presentation I'm giving in 2 weeks).

Little and often is my mantra atm :)

Any thoughts on my food intake today?... I'm open to making some improvements.

Champagnecharleyismyname · 02/05/2023 15:41

Can I join? I have a stone and a half to lose and I keep losing and gaining the same 7lbs. I want to lose it slowly so it stays off this time. I'm aiming for 0.5 to 1lb a week.

I'm cutting out snacks and alcohol and cutting carbs down.

I want to focus more on eating food for health and energy now I'm post menopausal.

I'm not good at calorie tracking but think I probably need to get a better idea of how much I'm actually consuming!

ImALittlePea · 02/05/2023 17:36

Helloooo lovely losers! I'm a bit (3 pages!!) late to the party this month, sorry! 2yo is being SUCH a 2yo at the moment, I'm just being talked and whined at constantly so I've basically been rocking in a dark corner whenever she's not by my side 🤣

Anyway - that aside 😉 welcome all the newbies and lots of manic waving to all the returnees. Sorry there's just too many to tag now, very glad to see those of you who have come back after a while too!

Thanks as ever @TheRealHousewife for the thread!

Trying to fully harness my motivation this month. 18 days until the party, would love to lose 2lb in that time, and if I can flatten my c section pouch a bit more then too! Doing as many dance classes as I can, I feel like I also need to try and fit in some mini home workouts to target that area if I can... Any tips??

NSV alert. At the weekend I bought a pair of size 10 jeans from the supermarket sale without trying them on and they fit so well! In fact, may even be a bit on the loose side now. Very pleasantly surprised. I've also just had a jumpsuit arrive as a potential outfit for the party, also a 10, fits nicely but the cut isn't very forgiving with the lower tummy area, so I'm not sure I'll have the confidence to wear it. I think I might need to really go hard on carb reduction between now and then just to de-bloat as much as possible!? I'll keep trying it on and may share a picture closer to the time for advice 😬♥️

The weekend was typical for me, but I'd normally carry that through to the bank holiday Monday in terms of rules being off.. but I didn't yesterday (well, I had a couple of handfuls of crisps and a pudding, but no bread or wine)

Yesterday:
Lunch - 3 x ryvita with houmous, tomatoes and cucumber. Handful of crisps
Dinner - cottage pie, big pile of veg, gravy. Treat pudding though - a caramel croissant swirl thing with ice cream. Worth EVERY calorie!

Today:
Lunch - cup-a-soup special (think I need to trademark this!?)
Dinner - chicken in a creamy leek sauce, crushed new pots, big pile of veg

About to clean and close the kitchen for the day, barring a cuppa once littlest is in bed. Unusually for me, craving something sweet, will see if I can hold off though.

greenspaces4peace · 02/05/2023 18:10

the thread moves so fast i'm in awe of how you manage this @TheRealHousewife :) and all the others as well!!
welcome to new and returning may movers and shakers.
last evening (fairly late) dh wanted help packing his lunch for today (he has a little jobette) and i didn't nibble any!! i stayed strong to all sorts of yummy items.
now this is where i failed in april, with dh away so several hours at a time i tried to extend my fast. but all i ended up doing is making horrible food choices during the window. of course i did not log my intake or measure portions.
so day 2. i weighted without looking, logged my breakfast and like yesterday nice low cal 184 with good fiber scores.

TheRealHousewife · 02/05/2023 19:05

@ImALittlePea Get you! Thats a fantastic NSV, well done my lovie 👏👍⭐️

Well done on your loss @Bikechic 👍

Welcome to the thread @DivaRainbow @Citygirlrurallife @Champagnecharleyismyname. You’ve come to the right place for none judgemental support 😬

@greenspaces4peace You’ll soon turn yourself around! 😊

DivaRainbow · 02/05/2023 20:16

OK so day 1 over with, I had:
Lunch: Two boiled eggs and slice of toast
Dinner: lean mince with broccoli, carrots and a few baby potatoes
Snacks: Orange, banana and a handful of doritos.

My water intake has been awful but managed 4 cups of tea ( No sugar just a bit of milk).

TheRealHousewife · 02/05/2023 20:28

@DivaRainbow Sensible intake. I clean and close the kitchen after my last meal. I find that prevents any evening nibblings 😬. I really have to work hard to get the water in. Sometimes I’m just not thirsty enough and other times I’m guzzling for England.

AutisticLegoLover · 02/05/2023 20:45

Well I think covid is to blame for the awol AF that is now almost 2 weeks late so far. That's 3 weeks of PMT which is a delight because I always want lots of sweet stuff the day before AF but every day feels like the day before at the moment. My food choices have not been great but I'm on target for calories and have walked nearly 10 miles so I'm not beating myself up about it. Tomorrow will be a better day. I need a better dinner and fruit for snacks not sweets. I have soup in the freezer so that would be good instead of yogurt for lunch and dinner 😩

@ImALittlePea that's an excellent NSV! Well done!

Puffalicious · 02/05/2023 22:27

Hey all,

Checking in for May. We were away over the bank holiday in Barry the camper, so just catching up on the thread now.

Hello 👋 to old and new losers.

April ended up being v good, with a 5lb loss, but I have the feeling WOW this week won't be great- nibbled too much this week/ a few poor choices.

I'm calorie counting with MFP and IF (11am-7pm). Fingers crossed May is good.

SW 13 st 2
CW 12 st 9
GW 10 st 12

I've a long way to go, but one step at a time.

Weatherwax13 · 02/05/2023 23:38

Been a very flat week. Gained 0.3kg but tbh that's better than anticipated.
Wednesday weigh in
SW 88.8
CW 75.8
TW 74 kg
Just not feeling it atm. But hoping for a better week. Really want to hit 74kg before I leave gir my trip at the end of the month!

instantpotnoodle · 03/05/2023 05:30

clearly too much eating over the bank hol with only 0.1kg loss this week 🙄

CW 72.5kg (-0.1kg)

AutisticLegoLover · 03/05/2023 06:58

I've not weighed this morning but suspect no change from Monday. The fajitas and nachos had more salt than I normally eat over 2 days so not good for water retention. I think I've stalled a bit too with being nearly at my target.

Don't worry if you haven't lost or have even had a slight gain, just keep going. Hope everyone has a loss that weighs today but if you don't please see previous sentence.

The sun is shining here for a change and I hope it stays shining today because I'm gardening up at my mum's later. Maybe with ds in tow who snuck into my bed with tummy ache at 5.30 this morning.

All the usual meals for me today with a determination not to eat sweets.

Have a great day everyone.

buzzofthebumblebee · 03/05/2023 07:42

Good luck to all new people and to the WOW'rs today.

So, despite best intentions, I clearly can't maintain in any shape or form, and from starting April at goal, 10 12, I have weighed in at 11 3 today. I know a lot of it is bloat due to sugar / alcohol cravings at the weekend, but I clearly need a jolly big kick up the backside to work harder to not drown work / family stress in wine and biscuits. I have been eating well again, but alcohol making daily appearance again which MUST STOP. Plus I need to get out running again - once work project done.

Big wobble, huge brush down, and start again. With you @greenspaces4peace & @Puffalicious & everyone else struggling - lets get this show on the road.

Huge congrats on your 5lb loss @Puffalicious for April. Great you still have a spring in your step @ImALittlePea despite toddler! you CAN shift the extra 2lbs, and you can feel great.

Gardening sounds like a wonderful thing to do today @AutisticLegoLover . Big thanks as always to @TheRealHousewife

Champagnecharleyismyname · 03/05/2023 07:45

So weight this morning is 152.3lbs and a BMI of 27. First goal is 140lbs which takes me into the healthy BMI range.

My focus is 0.5 to 1lb a week.

I'm cutting out sugar and simple carbs an upping my veg and protein. I want this to be sustainable in the long term and not something I do to lose half a stone and then put it all back on again.

I'm hoping writing here will keep me accountable and consistent.

Autumndays22 · 03/05/2023 07:49

Beautiful day today!
My WOW stats:
SW 13st
CW 12 st 5 lbs
Initial GW 12st by end of May
GW 11st by mid Aug
Hope everyone gets the figures they want to see on the scales today 🤞☀️

conspiracyoflemurs · 03/05/2023 07:49

Morning! Just checking in for WOW
SW: 12st
CW:11st 7
GW:10st 7
My BMI is now (I think!) back in the healthy weight category- I'm 5' 7.5"
Still using Noom. Lots of info I already knew but did make me think about having an all or nothing mindset and giving up if I slip up.
Trying to up my steps and water intake. Sticking to about 1200-1300 calories mainly by eating more fruit and veg, reducing portion sizes and no alcohol. I've also got a really sweet tooth so reducing the sugar I have in my tea/coffee. That's probably the hardest thing for me to give up! Looking forward to reading through everyone's updates but just wanted to post while I have time today to keep me accountable. Good luck everyone 😊 x

Summerslimtime · 03/05/2023 07:55

Good Morning Hello GIF by 大姚Dayao

Good Morning

WOW - 9st 6lb = 1lb lost since 30.04.23👍

@Puffalicious Fabulous April result! Well done! 👍👏⭐️

@Weatherwax13 Heres to you ‘feelin it’ and having a better week 👍

@instantpotnoodle Better than a gain 😬

@buzzofthebumblebee I know it isn’t always easy and Im not telling you not to drink alcohol (empty calories) but it looks like it could be sabotaging all your best efforts. May is difficult to navigate with all the bank holidays, even more so this year with the coronation. I myself will be having a glass or 2 of the bubbly stuff in celebration 🍾 👑

@Champagnecharleyismyname You've outlined a sensible plan 👍 Good luck 🤞

@Autumndays22 Great figures! 👏 Keep going 😬

@conspiracyoflemurs Well done on trying to give up the sweet stuff. If you manage to, it will have so many positive benefits including reducing cravings, saving your tooth enamel and more energy 👌

@Summerslimtime Weve all had to start somewhere and that really is the hardest part. You’re on your way to healthier future with oodles of energy 👍 Well done on starting! 👏

@Fara22 We've all had months where we’ve gained. I know it’s frustrating. Try to not get despondent ❤️ Just keep going forward, you’ll get there!

@AutisticLegoLover Well done on your loss 👍

Menu
Meal 1 - Chicken and avocado salad. Home made dressing.
Meal 2 - Salmon and spicy Cauli rice.
Tea, black coffee and water.

Exercise
Session 1 - Arms/hand weights.
Session 2 - Stretches/Pilates.

If your WOW is up or down, try not to worry; reset and reaffirm what you’re wanting to change (and why)plan and log your intake and keep going 👍The magic will happen ❤️
