⭐️LOSE IT! April 2023 Countdown to Summer⭐️

Summer countdown starts here! The holidays are right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

@NothingTraLaLa your diet today sounds quite good under the circumstances :)

Today, I had;
2 boiled eggs for breakfast
2 cups black filter coffee
1 cortado coffee
Mung dhal with spinach, brown basmati rice and greek yoghurt for lunch
blueberries
walnuts + 2 dates
2 squares dark chocolate (85%)
chicken thigh, potatoes, cabbage + carrot salad & avocado for dinner

8k step count + 1 hour yoga class

I ate more food and slightly more carbs today = haven't felt weak and tummy issues gone. I guess I will need to go slow and steady but I wish I could accelerate this last bit of weight loss!

ImALittlePea · 04/05/2023 20:17

Evening gang. Quick one from me, sorry I don't have time to catch up 😬 I will try and do so properly tomorrow 🤞

Meals:
Lunch - cheesy chips 🤦‍♀️
Dinner - 2 sausages, homemade sweet potato chips, big pile of green veg
No snacks, four cuppas, loads of water

Clocked 13.5k steps today! Took youngest to the zoo (hence the lunch, it was either chips or baguettes and I figured the calories wouldn't be all that different but the bread bloat would be!?) and did my dance class tonight. Home, showered, about to have my final (fourth) cuppa and chill for the night.

WoF for me tomorrow - no gauge on how it'll go, so just everything crossed I guess🤞

Citygirlrurallife · 04/05/2023 20:17

Agreed @NothingTraLaLa sometimes needs must and really not that bad considering

@Superdashmama mung bean curry sounds delicious!

FD complete here just under 600kcals. Will spend the evening mainlining herbal teas and look forward to tomorrow!

NothingTraLaLa · 04/05/2023 20:21

@Superdashmama your food today sounds lovely! And I think you’re right about making sure you have enough energy - feeling weak is not the way forward.

Thank you for this thread. It's has a lovelyy supportive vibe.

I forgot all about WoW until this morning. It looks as though I've lost a pound. I already had all my clothes on ,so it had to be a rough guess.

My phone alarm goes off at beginning and end of kitchen window. I was really pleased this morning when I was too busy to notice the time. Spent three hours tidying the garden. Think I'll sleep well tonight.

AutisticLegoLover · 04/05/2023 22:23

Crap food choices here of mega buttons for dinner Blush At least breakfast and lunch were my usual porridge a Greek yogurt meals. I will do better tomorrow and I Reyes to drink extra water to make up for my poor choices a little. I'll take soup out of the freezer in the morning for tomorrow's dinners

Solidarity to the GCSE mums. Dd2 had one of her French exams today. Her school do MFL GCSEs 2 years early and she's doing the higher papers and has felt a lot of pressure from teacher. My eldest sits her GCSEs this m

AutisticLegoLover · 04/05/2023 22:30

This month and next and has done next to no revision and has an attendance rate of 60% since living with her dad. She's predicted to do poorly yet is capable of Bs with some As. It's a long story.

Hi to the new posters!

So, tomorrow is better choices day. Ds will be back in school and that means my routine will be back to normal and I'll eat better plus more exercise. Saturday is a day off with it being the coronation. We are going to make scones with my lovely mum and watch together. I'm not a fan of Charlie boy or horsey face but I love the pomp and ceremony and seeing the unicorns and scenery. London is a foreign place of wonder to me up north.

I'm weighing tomorrow to see if 55kg dead on is any closer. Seems not so long ago I was wishing for 60kg. I know there's at least one poster who weighs on Friday, possibly @ImALittlePea but I might have got that wrong. Here's to a loss for whoever is weighing. See you in the morning, sleep well.

greenspaces4peace · 04/05/2023 23:11

dh is busy and keeps showing up with food for which i have zero strength to resist. like many i'm trying to stay focused with water and outdoor time.
i need to get the double cream yet for saturday's quiche ;)

ImALittlePea · 05/05/2023 07:26

Bums. 1/2lb on today. Not huge I know, but a bit deflating. The scales flirted with a loss which makes it even worse, but checked five times in hope and nope - I'm up!

Onwards.

AutisticLegoLover · 05/05/2023 07:58

@ImALittlePea scales are so rude sometimes. Keep going and tomorrow should surely be a loss.

Small loss here and am 55.2kg this morning. I will drink plenty today and am having soup for dinner. Lots of walking today too.

Happy Friday!

TooEarly4Breakfast · 05/05/2023 08:15

I thought I was doing fine yesterday when I posted. We were very busy in the garden and DH brought in food from my old eating days. I simply forgot what to do, and followed my old bad habits. Ate very late last night after posting, and very annoyed with myself now that I've gained a pound.

I'm drinking lots of weak tea, and feel a lot better for doing so. I should pace myself better today, maybe do less in the garden before having a break. I'll be on my own and won't feel so much pressure to keep going.

TheRealHousewife · 05/05/2023 08:33

Good Morning

@Ninjachicken I don't do the salt trick myself as my coffee isn't bitter; but yes literally only several grains 😬 Hope your taste buds have forgiven you!

@Puffalicious That seems sensible; modération all the way. I still feel shock that several years ago I allowed myself to get over 12 stones (at 5ft) without even noticing. It was only when I saw a photo of myself 😮 How did your son do?

@Superdashmama they are good NSVs in your clothing sizing 👌

@NothingTraLaLa Sorry to read you have covid in the household. Hope everyone gets well soon!

@TooEarly4Breakfast Weve all had moments like that where we fall out of our good habits. We are human after all. Don't sweat it, it won't be a 1lb of fat you've gained, it's water and waste 😬

@ImALittlePea ive done the scale dance before in the hope of a lower number ... it'll come in time ❤️

Well done @AutisticLegoLover 👍

It seems a long post from yesterday didn't make it to thread. I've tried to reply in a similar fashion but it's never the same. Hope I havnt missed anyone ❤️

I'm a bit late because it's been manic partly due to me being ill.
SW = 78.00
Tuesday = 77.65
Friday = 76.05

And that includes a small afternoon tea on Wednesday.

I wouldn't recommend the way I lost the weight 🙁

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 05/05/2023 10:14

127.6lb here this morning which I am surprised about (though its only a 0.2lb loss) as even though I fasted yesterday DH and I went out for dinner - no alcohol BUT I did have a Bills Buttermilk chicken burger and chips - it was lovely I could manage all of the bun and chips but it must have been lots of calories.
Unfortunately I dont know as Bills didn't have the cals on there - not sure why as I thought they had to display them and I like to know.
Onwards and inwards my chums!
Good luck to all the exam takers and their long suffering parents😂

TheRealHousewife · 05/05/2023 11:35

Sorry to read you’ve been unwell@Karatema Hopefully you’ll have a better day today! 🤞

@Was126orbustandmaybebust A loss is a loss 😬👍Every bit helps!

Thanks @TheRealHousewife - you are right every little does help.

Ninjachicken · 05/05/2023 18:01

So the weather here is lovely which is making me feel motivated but also making me want to sit in the garden with a nice cold glass of wine. Taking the dogs out so I do not do that. I am still paying for earlier in the week on the scales.
hoping for a loss after the weekend.
food today:
L: steak and salad
D: prawn and broccoli stir fry
snack: half a cookie with my coffee this afternoon. It wasn’t a small cookie. Don’t know why I did that.
i work every other weekend and I am off this weekend so going to sort, tidy, garden and generally keep busy
My OH is busy with getting our pool ready for summer, we bought a kit and it is quite a lot of work!
Lovely woodlands for some springtime motivation

Thanks OP, DS was positive about yesterday's exam, the trouble is trying to get him to study for Tuesday's - which he hates. I'm trying not to eat my feelings, bit I might murder him soon.🤨

Had salmon and egg salad for dinner and I feel ropey. All perfectly in date. Strange. Hate it when you don't enjoy the calories. Wish I'd just skipped it and had chocolate 🍫 😅

Autumndays22 · 05/05/2023 21:10

Love Spring and the emerging flowers! Just a quick post to wish everyone a fantastic bank holiday weekend. I will be drinking (hopefully in moderation!) and eating far too much but hey ho! Just need to make sure it’s a temporary fall from the wagon and not a slippery slope of gluttony (like the entire Winter!) 🤣

Fara22 · 05/05/2023 21:22

Dropping in to wish everyone a lovely bank holiday weekend! It's due to rain constantly all weekend here 😂

Third evening in a row of no snacking. This includes the chicken I cooked for tomorrow, which normally I would have sneaked a chunk of by now, even though I'm not hungry. I'm fairly sure if I can curb my evening snacking, I will be on to a winner. But it's hard. I wouldn't say it's an addiction, but definitely a deeply embedded behaviour.

But small steps leads to progress!

AutisticLegoLover · 05/05/2023 21:26

@Ninjachicken lovely photo. Spring is such a nice time of year.

@Puffalicious that's rubbish about your food not being great but I don't recommend chocolate for dinner after having exactly that yesterday. I was really hungry at bedtime with no calories left and then felt iffy this morning until I'd had a mid morning big snack of oatcakes with butter and jam and another cup of tea. Since then I've felt fine. I've had soup and petit pains for dinner tonight and it was definitely the right choice.

Today has run to plan and am just under my allowance. Nearly 11 miles walked. 1559 calories consumed.

Tomorrow I'm making scones with the children and my mum and watching the coronation. We are supposed to be having a chippy tea but if we do I will share some chips with the children rather than have my own.

Have a great weekend whatever you do and don't forget the 🍾

Stopping the snacking has been the game changer for me. My meals previously were often pretty good but I could add on 500 calories a day at least just in snacks. I've tried to go cold turkey as much as possible and only have a snack if I'm really desperate and actually, I do enjoy them more because it's an occasional thing rather than an every day thing.

Food today:

B - coffee
L - egg on toast
D - vegetarian lasagne
S - a slimline G&T

DownUdderer · 06/05/2023 01:18

I'm avoiding evening snacks as well. And I'm learning that feeling hungry sometimes is actually normal.

TheRealHousewife · 06/05/2023 07:10

Good Morning

Coronation Day 👑🍾👑🍾👑 I for one enjoy the pomp and pageantry that comes with State occasions so will be glued to the TV this morning. I love all things military and the processions; and especially the horses. For other fellow Royalists I hope you enjoy the weekend too!

@ThreeRingCircus Excellent post about snacking! Snacking can totally sabotage any efforts for weight loss/management. I myself am an abstainer and eat just mealtimes. Today might be an exception for me 😬👑🍾

@Fara22 Congratulations on not snacking! 👏👍

@Ninjachicken Great photo! Spring is my favourite month! Nature waking up although it’s somewhat late this year.

@AutisticLegoLover Great walking distance!
