⭐️LOSE IT! April 2023 Countdown to Summer⭐️

Summer countdown starts here! The holidays are right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

@Puffalicious and @Was126orbustandmaybebust that's bringing back so many memories! I did BUNAC 20 years ago! I had such a blast. (I also chose BUNAC so I could make more money Grin). I hope they both have a fantastic time!

Ninjachicken · 27/05/2023 15:04

Hello! You are making me really hungry @ImALittlePea ! I drank WAY too much wine last night and I am feeling it today so want to eat everything in sight!!!
the concert was good thank you @TheRealHousewife but a little frustrating as my daughters class was right at the back and we could not see any of them!

i put on some shorts from last summer today and they are very loose around the waist. It’s very pleasing 😁
not eating well today really , I have had some crisps and sweet things.
i will be better tomorrow !
Bon voyage @Weatherwax13

have a lovely weekend everyone

I went 33 years ago 🙈 and have memories I thought I'd lost flying back now he's there- like names of people I'd totally forgotten (pre-internet/ FB/ Insta/ Snapchat!).

Have the best holiday Weatherwax enjoy that sun on your face.

I need to keep the 'chipping away in my head, Imalittlepea*- small and consistent, and not to freak if I have a bad week/ month, remembering I'm menopausal and it's stubborn weight. Thank you.

Hi guys just created a group on Facebook called lose weight with intermittent fasting and smoothies. Your welcome to join for accountability ✅

AutisticLegoLover · 28/05/2023 09:38

Morning all, hope you're having a lovely weekend and that it's sunny where you are. We are off to the beach again one day this week because it looks too glorious to be at home. I just need to work out which day I can take off.

Still going well here. Porridge with chia and syrup for breakfast, Greek yogurt with fruit compote, chia and honey for lunch, and whatever for dinner. Falafel wraps being a favourite this week and pasta of some variety. Lots of ice lollies this week. Maintaining my weight at 54kg.

Remember your 🍾 in this heat!

Autumndays22 · 28/05/2023 19:56

@AutisticLegoLover had a little chuckle about this “Remember your 🍾 in this heat!” It’s hard to resist the wine on a sunny day ☀️😂
Well done on your maintenance. I continue to be good but always seems to indulge a bit too much on the bank holidays 😬. Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend in the sun

Allthegoodnamestakken · 29/05/2023 08:17

Happy Monday All, I had a very busy weekend and drank far to much very good wine but the scales were at 67.2kg this morning so hopefully not too much damage done!
Not feeling hugely healthy today have a really snotty nose and weirdly my skin is all puffy, red and dry on my face as though I've had an allergic reaction to something but I can't think what it could be.
I have a work trip Thursday/Friday and my goal is to get organised Wednesday so I don't fall into my usual bad habit of petrol station breakfasts and fried food.
Wishing everyone a wonderful start to the week.

DownUdderer · 30/05/2023 02:39

I had some snacks yesterday and today I'm up a pound. My jeans still fit me today though, so I'm trying to keep a level head. I'll try and be mindful of what's going in my mouth today.

I've just put my slow cooker on, it's winter weather in Australia today. I'm cooking up a beef stew with loads of veggies. I think I'll have soup for lunch.

ImALittlePea · 30/05/2023 07:33

Morning lovely losers! Well that weekend was a busy one - lovely (albeit windy) weather, saw lots of friends, BBQ was delicious and had too much wine. Finished it off with a seven hour stint at work 🥴 and now got the half term to tackle!

I hope you're feeling better @Allthegoodnamestakken?

Plans this week quite up in the air because of half term but I think today will be:
Lunch - normal
Dinner - peri peri chicken (wasn't cooked on Sunday) with salad, flat bread and roasted newies

Have a good day all!

Tuesday Morning Color GIF by Justin

Good Morning

Penultimate day of May. I’m super clean eating to end the month. Sort of a mini-cleanse. Mainly veg, salad, berries, fish & chicken. Yummy 😋

@Ninjachicken Oh what a shame! How disappointing for you!

@DownUdderer Dont worry, it won’t be ‘real’ weight. I’d suspect salt/water bloat. It’ll soon be gone.

@Allthegoodnamestakken Hope you soon feel better!

@ImALittlePea Sounds like a perfect bank holiday weekend. ❤️

Menu
Meal 1 - Chicken Salad (spring onion, lettuce, radish home grown), tomatoes.
Meal 2 - Home made veg soup. Mixed berries & Greek yoghurt.
Tea, black coffee & water.

Morning all. Reporting in with a WOT of 53.45kg. That's 8st 5lb for goodness sake. AF still AWOL. Maybe this is the menopause although no hot flushes. Off to catch up on the thread. Have a great day!

Superdashmama · 30/05/2023 09:47

@TheRealHousewife mini cleanse sounds good! I’m going to do the same for the next two weeks. My weekly treat is becoming a treat every other day these last few weeks.

I need to reign in the sugar (my nemesis)!

ImALittlePea · 30/05/2023 13:33

My mood has full on plummeted over the course of the morning! Think it's a combination of general tiredness after such a busy weekend and working late last night, plus being annoyed with work for how they're treating another staff member (and considering whether to try and find something else for myself as a result), and being a little bit touched out/overwhelmed by the kids bickering already (doesn't bode well for the half term, does it 🥴). All I want to do is nap, have takeaway and probably some wine tonight, but I know that'll just compound this feeling into the rest of the week.

Anyway, went for a different lunch, not altogether unhealthy but not quite as good a choice as I had planned this morning - large bowl of salad with lettuce, loads of cherry tomatoes, cucumber, spring onion, pomegranate and chunks of cheddar, and a homemade balsamic dressing. And a small bag of tangy tom crisps (57 calories). Sipping my way through a bottle of fizzy water to try and fill the hunger gap, and aiming to not snaffle a load of haribos and/or deviate from tonight's planned dinner with my bad mood cravings being what they are.

Urgh. Watch this space (or rather, don't 🤦‍♀️).

Weatherwax13 · 30/05/2023 14:24

@ImALittlePea I'm exactly the same. Full of the joys of Spring this morning but after a morning of running around after MIL I'm irritable. Certainly don't expect gratitude but she's been very peevish and demanding. On top of jetlag it feels a bit much. Had a massively unhealthy lunch and just realised she's expecting to go for a pub dinner this evening. Probably need an hour to myself beforehand!
Hope your mood picks up. I'm not optimistic about mine!

ImALittlePea · 30/05/2023 14:41

Oh sorry to hear that @Weatherwax13 I hope the day/jetlag/MIL collectively ease up on you!

I did a tiny bit of admin and then had half a nap while DD was asleep. Feel a bit more refreshed for it, hopefully it's enough to see me through the day without me throwing my toys out of the pram and diving head first into a pizza 😬🤞

DownUdderer · 31/05/2023 02:22

My slow cooker beef stew was really good! What a relief, there's nothing worse than cooking something all day with the worry it won't turn out that great. I'll be eating it for days, but that's ok. It was tasty, filling and full of veggies.

My dd is still off school unwell. But my stress levels have dropped down, I really don't think she's that bad, just run of the mill illness.

Each day that I wear my jeans I keep telling myself just a month ago I couldn't even do up the zip on them! What a great feeling.

ginsparkles · 31/05/2023 07:25

Hey all, long time no "speak" . I am here holding my head in utter shame! I have been so far off track I can't even see the track anymore, my wagon has no wheels. I stood on the scales this morning and was horrified. 12st 5. I haven't been this high for years. BlushBlush

Too many excuses, but no more. HRT has started a couple of weeks ago and I feel a lot more like my old self again. And now I have to be more my old self again. Too many bad habits have snuck in, there's always another event to begin after. So today, I'm coming back to you. I'm promising you all (and well mostly myself!) that I will be keeping a food log, I will not snack on the bad stuff. I will drink first when I think I'm hungry. I will remember all the things I know how to do, and I will get things back to normal!

In that vein todays plan is this:
Breakfast - fruit and yogurt
Lunch - roast beef salad
Dinner - ham and pea risotto

I hope everyone is ok, I'll spend some time catching up with everyone's news this evening! Smile

ImALittlePea · 31/05/2023 07:30

Sounds lovely @DownUdderer I don't use my slow cooker often enough. Must remember to use it more over winter (or tbf, this spring as it's still chilly as hell here!). Hope DD is better soon.

I did end up having some wine last night. Didn't finish the bottle though, which I'd normally do without much thought 😅

Thread is quiet at the moment, hope posters are all ok 💗 good luck to everyone weighing today.

I've woken up hungry this morning which is unusual. Hopefully my morning brew will stave the feeling off. Plan for normal lunch today, unsure about dinner as it's an early one on my own before work.

ImALittlePea · 31/05/2023 07:32

Hi @ginsparkles nice to see you again! You know you can do this, we're all with you ✨

Autumndays22 · 31/05/2023 07:47

Morning all, hope you are all ok. Welcome back @ginsparkles, you sound very determined! We are with you.
My WOW today is 12 stone so I have hit
my end of May target. I am now impatient to hit my next target. Mustn’t wish away time though.
Hope everyone gets the WOW results they want today

AutisticLegoLover · 31/05/2023 08:21

@ginsparkles welcome back-you can do it!
@Autumndays22 congratulations! Ending the month on a low must feel great!
@Weatherwax13 hope you're feeling brighter today.
@ImALittlePea it's very quiet hasn't it. There were lots of new posters at the start of May but I think this month has been the quietest for regulars and newbies. Glad you're feeling brighter today.

WOW of 53.6kg this morning. I've not been very hungry this past week. Breakfast is always the usual porridge but then it goes downhill from there. Must do better. I might make homemade veggie burgers today with homemade chips.

Hope everyone has a great day! Can't believe it's the last day of May

ImALittlePea · 31/05/2023 08:25

That's great @Autumndays22 well done! Agree, not sensible to become too impatient with it as weight loss isn't linear and if we don't see the trajectory we want we can easily become derailed.

Well done @AutisticLegoLover I love a veggie burger but struggle with recipes to make home-made. How do you make yours?

Totally forgot it's the last day of the month! Should probably have weighed but I'll be sticking with Friday as normal for me.

TheRealHousewife · 31/05/2023 08:59

Good Morning

Posted 03.05.23 - WOW - 9st 6lb = 1lb lost since 30.04.23
Todays WOW - 9st 5lb - A grand total of 1lb. Better than a gain and marginally better than maintaining 👍

I’m hoping for a better loss in June. Salad season always makes it easier 😬🤞

@AutisticLegoLover Great result! Well done 👏

@Superdashmama Sugar can be as addictive as crack. You’ll do yourself a massive favour if you weened yourself off it. Easier said than done I know but comes with many benefits such as stable blood sugar and less cravings 👍

@DownUdderer Well done on the jeans NSV 👍 Beef sounds tasty 😋

@ginsparkles Welcome back lovie, lovely to see you. Don’t be too hard on yourself; your body is going through a transition and pesky hormones can wreck total havoc and sabotage any attempts for healthy eating. You’ll soon find your feet (wheels). Get back in the right headspace (along with hormonal support) and the rest will follow ❤️

@ImALittlePea The threads do ebb and flow at times.

@greenspaces4peace Not seen you a while. Hope your ok ❤️

Congratulations on hitting your target @Autumndays22 🥳🥳🥳 Fabulous!

Menu
Meal 1 - Homemade vegetable soup.
Meal 2 - Mediterranean chicken tray bake.
Tea, black coffee and water.

Well done to everyone who has stayed the course. I’ll create June’s thread later today.

I’ve had a horrendous week. I don’t want to go into it but it’s been very difficult and sad.

I haven’t made the best choices and have drank a bit too much wine.

But I want to stay accountable so here I am.

A gain of 0.2kg which is annoying but not the end of the world.

AutisticLegoLover · 31/05/2023 11:05

@Doorydoor Flowers that sounds tough.

My blood results are all ok. Iron levels a little low at 8 so another push to improve my vegetable intake. The GP wants me to do a bowel cancer test too but said she'd be very surprised if it came back as abnormal.

I've never made veggie burgers. I'm going to mash potato, add cheese and tiny pieces of carrot, sweetcorn, broccoli, cauliflower and peas and coat with panko breadcrumbs. I'm hoping they work and that the dc like them.
