⭐️LOSE IT! April 2023 Countdown to Summer⭐️

Summer countdown starts here! The holidays are right around the corner so it’s time to embrace a fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Feel free to share your own links, tips & recipes!

Well, I had every intention of coming back to comment properly on all the results, but j forgot how manic Wednesdays are these days 🤦‍♀️

The fact everyone continues to weigh and post is bloody brilliant though! Keep on going gang 🫶

Yes I agree @AutisticLegoLover that our society is so skewed when it comes to drinking norms. But then I think it's skewed in so many other ways too that I don't see how it can be unpicked.

Quick download for today:
Lunch was my normal
Dinner was jacket potato, large salad with dressing and a cheese omelette.
No snacks, a few teas, lots of water and nearly 12,000 steps.

Sleep beckons!

AutisticLegoLover · 03/05/2023 23:51

@ImALittlePea I agree. Sometimes I wish we (as in the whole works) could go back in time and rectify all the things that history has taught us messed up our present. Impossible and often good comes out of the bad.

I feel bad that I don't reply to everyone but I always read every post and cheer you all on even if I don't actually post anything. Sometimes I think it would be nice to have an in-person group but then I remember how socially awkward and anti-social I am and how judgey it might be and am glad of the anonymity of these threads where the support is unconditional. Thank you @TheRealHousewife.

ginsparkles · 04/05/2023 00:01

Hello all. Super late post from me, sleep and I are not friends at the mo! Have an appointment with the docs for blood pressure and then hoping to get to grips with this peri situation and all the lethargic grumpiness that it brings!

Haven't jumped straight back onto plan, but tentatively dipped a toe or two in! Today has been a much better food day, and hoping each day will be a little better than the last! No weigh in from me, Friday is my day, so we'll see!

AutisticLegoLover · 04/05/2023 00:15

@ginsparkles sending sleep vibes your way. I really should be asleep instead of on here. I'll regret it in the morning. A toe or two is good and you'll soon be back in fully. Hope Friday brings you a reward 😊

ginsparkles · 04/05/2023 00:16

Thanks @AutisticLegoLover .... hope you manage to get some sleep too!

DownUdderer · 04/05/2023 02:13

Hi everyone. I love reading everyone's updates, we often feel similar things and there's a nice camaraderie here.

I had a very late breakfast this morning, I like to try and attempt a loose intermittent fast when I can.

Keep on keeping on.

Citygirlrurallife · 04/05/2023 07:38

@ImALittlePea me too but same! Annoyingly broke my no alcohol with a glass of wine last night in the pub but was invited to join a group of women, some of whom I know and some I don’t but we only moved into the area last summer so saw it as a good opportunity to get to know folks more and DID NOT come home and snack 🙌

going to do a fast day today, first in quite some time so wish me luck.

in other news since my tummy bug I haven’t had a bowell movement since Saturday 😬 which is mega weird and also why I didn’t weigh in yesterday 😂

Citygirlrurallife · 04/05/2023 08:07

ok I did it anyway, and a bit of a cheat seeing as I had a tummy bug inbetween weigh ins but gives a good starting boost:
SW: 65.95kg
CW: 63.80kg
GW: 61kg

AutisticLegoLover · 04/05/2023 08:41

55.35kg still. That pesky last 350g is going soon I'm sure. Lack of walking this week with ds being poorly. He's off school again today. I might get my ball out later for some bouncing to make up for the lack of walking. Must drink more water today because yesterday wasn't the best for that. Usual meals today and possibly soup or pasta for dinner.

Have a great day!

ThreeRingCircus · 04/05/2023 08:47

Morning all, just checking in. I was back on track yesterday and felt SO much better for it. I need to remember how good I feel when I eat more healthily and how my unhealthy snacking always makes me feel worse afterwards. I don't know how I shift my mindset and I appreciate I've got a long way to go but hopefully the more I make healthy eating a habit the more it'll just become natural to me. I'm still calorie counting/logging with MFP which I'm finding is working for me.

Today's menu:

B - coffee
L - vegetable soup
D - vegetable burger with salad (and I've pickled some of my home grown radishes so have with tonight's dinner which is exciting!)

Have a great day everyone. You've got this 💪🏻

Work Hello GIF by Denyse®

Good Morning

@Puffalicious Youll always have your tribe 👍 Feck moments are just not worth it, as they tend to open the flood gates and a 1lb gain can soon turn into 10lb gain. Try to get some protein, fibre and quality fats in to help keep you satisfied 👍 Easier said than done I know.

@Fara22 well done on your bike ride 👍 10k👏

@bonnie199 Start over today and don’t give yesterday another thought 😬

@greenspaces4peace I know what you mean. It’s good for all of us to have some space and solitude 😊 Coronation Quiche & Coronation Chicken here too 👌

I totally agree @AutisticLegoLover that drinking in the uk is cultural and if you refrain your thought of as odd or an alcoholic. I’m neither but I’m the one who orders a pot of tea in a pub; people are used to me now 😬

@ginsparkles Heres hoping you get some relief! Poor sleep is so disruptive for our minds and bodies.

Hi @DownUdderer , I agree there does seem to be an easy going vibe on these threads thanks to all you lovely people ❤️

@Citygirlrurallife Thats going to be one huge relief 😮‍💨 once you ‘go’ 😬Hope your stomach issues soon sort themselves out.

@ThreeRingCircus I calorie count too. I find it does help with portion control etc 👍

Menu
Meal 1 - Home made soup
Meal 2 - Hake, carrots, peas, leeks. Home made sauce.
Tea, black coffee and water.

Exercise - None, too shattered 😬

OP posts:
Ninjachicken · 04/05/2023 10:06

So I tried the salt in coffee thing but clearly added WAY too much !!! 😂 is it really just a tiny tiny amount???
700g up today, so that’s Monday and Tuesday evenings showing on the scale. And I really did feel awful yesterday, which has actually motivated me to continue to eat well as it has proved how much better I feel when I do.
Food today:
B: black coffee with apparently a bucket of salt
L: eggs of some kind
D: chicken legs roasted with five spice and some green veg
its so nice to read everyone’s posts, good luck everyone !

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 04/05/2023 10:15

127.8lbs interim target I am coming for you.
It would of course be easier if I stopped having indulgent weekends so I din't spend Monday and Tuesday getting back to where I was on Friday morning - worse again this week beacuse of the bank holiday and next week and the one at the end of the month.
Crawling my way to 126lbs!

Puffalicious · 04/05/2023 10:20

OP, I know that 1lb gain ending up in a 10lb gain so well! (That's why I'm here after putting on 1.5 stones of the 2 that I lost 🙈. But upwards and onwards).

It'll be porridge with milk at 11am to up my fibre and fat. Also had delicious home-made guacamole last night for the good fats, and have a little left over for later with an oatcake or two. Teens/ DH had lashings of sour cream and cheese with their guac and chilli and wraps, but I resisted. They need the calories, I don't!

Quorn curry tonight, so I'll have it with just a spoon of rice and no nan. I can make mine with no cream or oil.

Have a good day all.

Puffalicious · 04/05/2023 10:36

Also trying not to nervously eat this morning- DS2 is presently in his first exam, Higher Maths (we're in Scotland, it's somewhere between AS and A level). He's only 16 and adhd. It's his favourite/ best subject, but I worry about him so much more than his brother who flew through it all. He also has 3 more exams 🙈. Maybe I'll just need skinny with the fretting (hoping!😃).

Puffalicious · 04/05/2023 10:37
  • get skinny
Superdashmama · 04/05/2023 11:26

@Puffalicious good luck to your son 🤞 I was ok at maths + exams but did very well in my higher maths exam waaaaay back in case it’s any help.

I love reading all the posts, it gives me lots of encouragement and motivation to keep up with the healthy habits.

I managed 10k steps yesterday on a busy work day. I’m feeling a little weak and have a funny tummy though - maybe I need a little more food?! Or it’s the effect of going even more low carb and higher fat this week?! (Avocados, nuts, salmon type of fats) 🤷🏻‍♀️

Sleeping well though… my sleep seems to be linked to my cycle!

So many bank holidays this month will require a bit more will power than usual 💪🏼

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 04/05/2023 11:28

Solidarity @Puffalicious DD1 is current into her second day of OSCE's (Med School 3rd year practical exams) at the moment with another day tomorrow.
DD2 has 2 weeks more of exams at Uni too.
The more they want it, the more we want it for them.

Superdashmama · 04/05/2023 11:29

I don’t have scales! I’m measuring my progress with clothing size.

waist 32 and size 12 a year ago
waist 30 and in between 10 and 12 now

I would like to get to a waist 29 and size 10 comfortably by the summer

Piglet89 · 04/05/2023 12:40

Hello @TheRealHousewife may I join?

SW 9 stone 13.75lb (4 May: weighed this morning)
GW 9 stone 7lb (targeting 19 June)

None of my nice work dresses fit comfortably any more; they’re all too tight around my hips and waist. Slipped into habit of drinking a bit too much every night and need to turn it around.

Plan is to eat three healthy meals a day, minimal snacking, lots of cruciferous vegetables and to do 30 mins peloton every day.

Puffalicious · 04/05/2023 13:15

Thanks for the good wishes Superdashmama. Maths is not my subject at all! I'm an English teacher and both my boys hate/d English and are Maths- bots. They take after their father.🙈 I have no one with a creative bone in their body in this house!

Feeling your worry Was126 and crossing fingers for your DD. I know how tough those practicals are (DN doing Forensics). DS1 also doing uni exams, Pure Maths, but nothing fazes him at all, ever!

It's exam season, so no doubt there'll be lots of anxious MNs, hopefully some of us don't eat our anxiety 😲.

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 04/05/2023 14:31

How did it go for him @Puffalicious? Or is he one of the 'ok' brigade?

Puffalicious · 04/05/2023 15:54

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 04/05/2023 14:31

How did it go for him @Puffalicious? Or is he one of the 'ok' brigade?

🤣Almost one of them. I got a 'Paper 1 was good. Paper 2 was very good. I missed out 10 marks of 120 then got immediate exam 'How could I have forgotten ?' as soon as I got out.' So actually quite a lot of info from him 🙈. As usual, I tell him his best is always good enough.

Next one is English on Tuesday, and he hates it so much. The next, few days will test me to the limit as I drag him through some past papers. The rest I have no clue about, but if I can help get him a pass in English my work is done 😆.

Keeling fingers all crossed for your DD.

Took your advice, OP, and had smoked salmon with the oatcakes and guacamole, and I do feel less hungry 👍.

conspiracyoflemurs · 04/05/2023 17:54

Good luck to your son @Puffalicious 🤞 Mine sitting exams at the moment too. His idea of study and mine are slightly different 🙄On the plus side I am so stressed I've lost my appetite so calorie counting has been easy this week! Roll on end of May! Keep going everyone!

NothingTraLaLa · 04/05/2023 19:54

Well, Day 2 for me and it’s all gone to pot already. I’m absolutely shattered this evening, DH has Covid so is no use either and I couldn’t face cooking so it was fish and chips for dinner 😫. Still, it’s not a total loss; yoghurt and berries for breakfast, homemade vegetable soup for lunch, any snacks have been healthy and I haven’t succumbed to any pudding or wine. Tomorrow is another day!
