“I started Ozempic last night” THREAD FOUR

1000 replies

HermioneWeasley · 12/03/2023 09:17

Can’t believe we’re on thread 4

welcome back to previous posters, and welcome to those who are new or interested.

a few of us have been on Ozempic with a range of experiences for a few months now, so if you’re interested in how it goes in the early days, the earlier threads might be a good place to start.

I’ve been on it for about 6 months now and have lost around 20lbs. It has been effortless. I used to be ravenously hungry all the time, and now I’m not. I had very mild side effects at first (just some nausea), but none now.

most of us have referral codes for various providers, so if you are starting, do ask on the thread and someone will PM you.

I started on Weds night and cannot believe the difference in my appetite, and the cravings have gone. It's just like magic!

Hi longtime lurker. Sitting in amazement this morning after week 1 weigh in on 3mg Rybelsus......9lb gone!
I know some will be water weight but this is the most, and easiest weight I've ever lost.
All the constant food chatter in my brain has gone, as well as my appetite which is so freeing.

Could I please ask, have you got this on a private prescription

I think that’s the term @Frightenedbunny . It had to be approved and it’s certainly not cheap!

My morning cup of tea now tastes pretty gross.

I thought the milk was off and bought some fresh milk but the tea tasted the same.

@foxlover47 there are a number of providers. The three that people seem to be using are MyJuniper, Manual and quick meds

End of week 5 weigh in and I'm a whole stone down. So so pleased!!. The only side effect I have had has been some constipation but if I drink enough water then it doesn't seem to happen.

For PP asking about where to source it. I get mine from London Slimming Clinic but there are many cheaper options. (Look at previous threads) I also found that 1 pen lasts longer than you think, my first pen has lasted me 6 weeks. I've now bought the 1ml pen to get 8 x 0.5ml doses from.

Posting this on the new thread for those that are wanting to know about the drug and the rationale behind the approval by NICE. I recommend reading it.

www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ta875/resources/semaglutide-for-managing-overweight-and-obesity-pdf-82613674831813

Also this article from Pulse which is our medical newspaper of sorts:

www.linkedin.com/pulse/do-you-feel-like-your-weight-loss-medication-saxenda-ozempic-burton

This is really useful for those who want to increase the dose early, split the dose, think it does things it doesn't and think it's stopped working.

Morning all, thread 5 - wow this has taken off!

I'm now officially 5 stone down and still going. Feels like a great milestone to hit and nice to be over halfway. Not sure what my goal weight is - I think I'll keep going until I hit a weight where I look and feel healthy and that I can sustain reasonably comfortable.

Hi guys, I’m waiting for my approval from MyJuniper having signed up yesterday. I see all the posts of people saying how much they’ve lost and in what time and it sounds like you’re all doing great. Well done!
Ive managed to reduce my BMI down to just over 30, I have about 30lbs left that I’d like to lose. It’s been pretty stubborn and I’ve stayed this way for around 6 months now. Thought Ozempic might be a good option.
Does anyone have some results they could post, who started out with a similar BMI?

I'm sure this has been asked before, but I am scrolling through previous threads and missing it - are any of you using the tablet equivalents, and how are you finding that?

I get mine through Numan. They've been very good so far but quickmeds are the cheapest.

I've lost 1st 0.5lbs in 9 weeks. I'm really pleased.

Someone on the old thread was asking about additional needles. I bought these:

my.simpleonlinepharmacy.co.uk/products/weight-loss-pen-needles/?gclid=Cj0KCQiAjbagBhD3ARIsANRrqEvNGKdYIZcDhQN0qtYNewvjVFbfbJ7DCVv3DVYz8rL1HJndypNlN0aAquHEALw_wcB

Any they work fine on my ozempic pen (all pens are the same).

Most are on the injectable ozempic, but I think 1 or 2 are on the the oral tablets.

I’ve gone to reformer Pilates this morning and it’s the first time I was burping so much in the class!! It’s not that I felt sick but there’s literally food sitting in my stomach! All I had this morning was one egg! I am starting to get worried that I am going to get acid reflux!

the real issue of not ‘emptying the stomach’ is that I am not getting enough nutrient to build muscles either! This is really worrying as how can you sustain the weight loss if you don’t change the muscle to fat ratio!

Thanks for new thread, just checking in to stay accountable/not miss anything!

I'm at the end of w2, due dose 3 of 0.25 tomorrow morning. I'm approx 2.8kg down (of 37kg to lose 😩) and I'm doing 16:8 as well, trying to track calories at around 1200 per day, keeping carbs low as they always make me more snackish!

There's lots of stuff going on at work/home and I'm finding ozempic is creating just enough headspace (from food chatter) to still stick to this eating plan - usually any disruption would lead me back to habitual/head-led eating.

@Athena51 Wow, five stone down! Congratulations, that’s amazing! I’ve been on Ozempic for four weeks now. I came here because I was feeling down about side effects, but having read through this thread now, posts here have already helped and I’ve had a good weekend, side effects-wise. I’ve started taking omeprazole for heartburn and I’ve just made my food portions much smaller. A pp said “eat like a diabetic” and that’s the one piece of advice that has really helped me.
@MissLucyLiu I went through a phase of burping and er, other gassy emissions. The omeprazole has really helped. It’s a long lasting antacid, in case you’re not familiar with it. In the chemist/pharmacy aisle with the indigestion remedies.

I have ended the week in a much better space. Side effects more manageable now. I really do need to watch dairy and portion sizes. Took another 0.75 this morning. I always inject on a Sunday and Monday and Tuesday have been the worst in terms of side effects so I am being extremely careful over the next couple of days.

Thanks for the new thread! I’m 4 weeks in, 12lb down. On 0.5 twice a week. My only side effect is constipation, I go maybe twice a week now which is only when I take a ducolax. But I am losing weight, grateful for no other symptoms so will take the constipation! I’m currently 12st 1, my goal is 9st 7lb. This time on the 22nd of March last year I was 18st 9lb. I lost a lot through calorie counting, exercising and 18:6 but fell off the wagon at Christmas and had a huge long plateau leading up to Christmas so I wanted to try to ozempic to shift this last 3 stone. So far so good, I know weight loss isn’t always linear and having been as big as I was there’s a good chance I may not see my goal but I would be happy with 10st tbh. I’m 5ft 3 so my healthy range according to bmi is 7st-10st so would settle for the higher end of my healthy.

Can I join you - I’ve just ordered Ozempic from Manual, it’s been approved so I just waiting for delivery.

I am currently 13st 6 with an under active thyroid which makes weight loss really challenging. I love the comments about ozempic stopping the constant food thoughts, I’m hoping it will work for me.

I think one of the things I wish I’d known is that you WILL still get hungry. You will probably eat medium/small size meals still. You will probably still crave the sweet stuff but the difference ozempic made for me was I was able to stop eating when full, usually about 1/3 into my meal. Yes it does cause appetite suppression but don’t expect to never feel hungry or crave something sweet. For me at least that hasn’t been the case. I still get cravings but I am 100% able to ignore them. It’s helped control my impulse control not just with food but I’m also an absolute shopaholic and I just don’t have the urge to shop anymore, so it’s been good for my waist and my bank account! I went out with dh today and only bought what I needed like toiletries and socks! I tried on a gorgeous dress but happily left it which was refreshing.

thankyou fir the new thread.
just to update re me - i'm 5"2 starting weight in december was 13"10
I am now 12stones .
I have had very few side effects TBH and any I have had were pretty transient..
I am attempting to stay low calorie.
definitely the appetite suppressant effect is a lot less but i am still managing not to go back to my old wsys( apart from today because we had something nice to celebrate and i guess i'll always associate food with celebration) But that's life i suppose?
I'm so happy to be doing this.
I know it's expensive and i'm really grateful i'm able to afford it and really hope it eventually becomes available to everyone who would benefit
