“I started Ozempic last night” THREAD FOUR

1000 replies

HermioneWeasley · 12/03/2023 09:17

Can’t believe we’re on thread 4

welcome back to previous posters, and welcome to those who are new or interested.

a few of us have been on Ozempic with a range of experiences for a few months now, so if you’re interested in how it goes in the early days, the earlier threads might be a good place to start.

I’ve been on it for about 6 months now and have lost around 20lbs. It has been effortless. I used to be ravenously hungry all the time, and now I’m not. I had very mild side effects at first (just some nausea), but none now.

most of us have referral codes for various providers, so if you are starting, do ask on the thread and someone will PM you.

My first pen arrived this morning. I ordered yesterday from Health Express so I'm pleased it turned up. The needle was so fine that I wasn't sure if I'd actually injected myself, but I can feel the pinprick now. I also managed to stab my finger with the reverse side while getting it into the sharps box 🙄Definitely felt that one!

RebelGeek76 · 01/04/2023 12:17

@Peridot1 @AllllTheQuestions thanks for your response. I selected the free delivery (48hr) rather than next day so that might be the reason for delay. I'll try them again on Monday if I still haven't heard. Thought it a bit odd as only heard positive reviews about them before.

Update: Just checked my emails and I've had an Evri email with a tracking number but no details yet so hopefully it's my quickmeds order. Was getting a bit antsy about it not arriving in time, will order well ahead next time!

Rosie219 · 01/04/2023 12:35

@PolkaDotMankini

I did that the first time too, it was surprisingly painful. Also on my last one I put the needle back in it's cover after the injection and as I was walking to get the sharps box it fell out and I stood on it, that was also very painful! Must remember to have the sharps box's next to me in future!

PolkaDotMankini · 01/04/2023 12:37

Ow! In the foot would be awful. My thigh is fine now but my finger still stings. I suppose it's a good job I don't routinely work with needles!

Abyss23 · 01/04/2023 13:08

@PolkaDotMankini @Rosie219 LOL, I thought I was the only idiot who managed to stab themselves getting it in the sharps bin.

PolkaDotMankini · 01/04/2023 14:07

@Abyss23 I forgot it was pointy on the reverse side too!

I did it as well! I got the dark grey one from manual and it’s so stiff to push them through

Rosie219 · 01/04/2023 14:28

I know, it's so hard to get them in especially with a needle either side. Although I don't have an excuse for standing on it 🤣

WhyDoesItAlways · 01/04/2023 14:59

I'm finding the Manuel sharps bin a PITA too but have found the more I use it the easier it gets. I suppose the little flappy bits and getting bent inwards slightly so don't need to push as hard to get the needle through.

Just thought I would check in. I’m on my 3rd dose and still feeling horribly sick, but am happy with my loss of 7lbs so far. We are going on holiday tomorrow and I’ve decided not to take it while we are away. For the sickness rather than anything else, but I’ve been consistently eating off the kids menu or 2 starters, and I hope to continue that while we are away even without the ozempic.

Has anyone found anyway to alleviate the sickness at all? I’m only on 0.25 so it’s not as if I’m caning the dosage either!

I am in the same situation. After 3rd 0.25mg dose the nausea is off the scale. Just like constant morning sickness 24/7 and crushing tiredness.
I am struggling to eat anything due to nausea and feeling so unwell it has ruined my son's visit. There is no way feeling this unwell is worth it for me to lose weight. Going back to Fast 800.

Aren't you putting the cap back on before removing the needle?

That way you only have the underside with an exposed needle and you can push it in the sharps bin with the underside down so no way to stick yourself

Yes I put the cap back on but it was really hard to push it into the sharps bin with the cap up. Logic suggested it would go in easier with the cap facing down as its tapered. I didn't realise the needle would be sticking out the other side. It really hurt.

I did exactly the same yesterday!

On day 4 and only side effect for me is a tummy ache when I needed to poo. Anyone else has this?

"Poo" you say? What's that? No sign of any of those around here recently 😆😟

Hi is quick meds still the cheapest with discount? If anyone has a code id be most grateful. I can't check pm's as I am on the app so would it be ok for it to be posted on here?

Also can anyone tell me if quick meds will believe me when I tell them that I had my 0.25 doses from Manual and want to buy .50 from them?

2kidsintow · 01/04/2023 22:23

I've just taken my 2nd dose.

No question this time as to whether it actually went in - it didn't sting at the time, but is a bit stingy after the act now. Although the needle looked bent on a little bit of an angle when I took it out which is a bit odd - though they are very thin so I imagine they are easy to bend.

If you use the manuel sharps bin, it works well if you put the point into the hole, then shut the lid. Shutting the lid pops it further into the hole without having to push on the needle tip bit and risk catching your fingers.

Patapouf · 01/04/2023 23:06

Can someone please explain the spare needle thing to me like I'm an idiot?

I'm having my third 0.25 dose tomorrow. After the fourth will there still be 0.5 left in the pen?

I've found the right needles on Amazon, should I use the pen as normal and administer 0.25 twice for my fifth dose?

I'm assuming Juniper will send me a 0.5 pen next time. Is there any use for the dozens of spare needles I'll have left over? Is there a more cost effective way than using a 0.5 pen?

DrMadelineMaxwell · 01/04/2023 23:31

Each 0.25mg dose is 0.19ml of fluid.
The pen holds 1.5ml which is 7.8 doses at the 2.5 dose.
Usually you go up to 0.5 after 4 weeks so there is 4 x 0.25 and 2 doses of nearly 0.5 in the starter pen.

Rosie219 · 02/04/2023 09:05

@2kidsintow
Ah, thanks for the sharps bin tip!

Sameiam · 02/04/2023 09:23

Week two done! Another alright 1kg/2.2lbs loss, down to 75.4kg, considering I had a takeaway Friday night and Ikea meatballs and chips and a cake yesterday (although I only ate half of any of those meals). Will see if it slows down but it’s nice to be able to lose weight and eat carbs for the first time.

about 6.4kg/1 stone to go until my bmi hits 25! Then another stone after that, and whatever else I can squeeze off before dreaded wedding dress shopping.

Twilightstarbright · 02/04/2023 11:11

@Sameiam well done! Do you mind me asking your starting BMI?

What was your BMI at the start?

@Sameiam well done! Do you mind me asking your starting BMI?

Technically 28.5 but the next day I was 27.9 so I think I might have just had a lot of water weight or something at the time, it had been my partner’s birthday so I’d eaten a lot the week before.
