“I started Ozempic last night” THREAD FOUR

1000 replies

HermioneWeasley · 12/03/2023 09:17

Can’t believe we’re on thread 4

welcome back to previous posters, and welcome to those who are new or interested.

a few of us have been on Ozempic with a range of experiences for a few months now, so if you’re interested in how it goes in the early days, the earlier threads might be a good place to start.

I’ve been on it for about 6 months now and have lost around 20lbs. It has been effortless. I used to be ravenously hungry all the time, and now I’m not. I had very mild side effects at first (just some nausea), but none now.

most of us have referral codes for various providers, so if you are starting, do ask on the thread and someone will PM you.

@SpringIntoChaos what company do you need a code for?

I don't mind which company. I was cleared online by Numan, QuickMeds and My Juniper, so either of those. However if anyone has got a discount code for elsewhere I'd be happy to accept it ☺️👍. TIA

leilani83 · 13/03/2023 10:48

I think I need to cut wine completely as even moderate consumption is slowing down my weight loss...seriously want to reach my target weight by summer!

SpringIntoChaos · 13/03/2023 10:54

I've just ordered...thanks to lots of you who sent codes via DM (obviously I could only use one of them, but I really do appreciate your super quick responses and generosity 👍)

I'll update once I get started...today I'm having a real 'cupboard clear out' getting rid of anything that will sabotage my efforts 🤦‍♀️

Any advice for a newbie will be very welcome 🙏

Popping on to placemark on the new thread. Drank too much over the weekend but am still down a jeans size so will keep going. People are commenting now which is a nice boost.

Well done everyone on their losses!

TakeItCheesy · 13/03/2023 11:05

Hiya! Just found this while looking for information on diabetes management. I'm pre-diabetic, and in the process of shifting my lifestyle (am absolutely determined with this), but could use the additional help with the weight loss.

I've gone through the process with a couple of the companies and been approved, think I'm well within the criteria for it being prescribed. Might someone be able to send me a referral code for any of the UK providers?

IAmBreathingIn · 13/03/2023 13:05

Hi everyone. Just checking in on the new thread. Welcome to the new posters. Great to hear everyone's updates, it's lovely to hear of continuing successes.

I've had a very rough week, but I'm hoping I've put it behind me. I haven't weighed for more than a month I think, so hoping to update on that later this week. Still eating healthily, no desire for alcohol, but need to exercise more. All in all I still feel I'm making good progress towards my new, healthier lifestyle. More importantly, one I can sustain this time.

Jusmakingit · 13/03/2023 13:17

Hi, been wanting to do this for a while. Have 5 stone to lose. What amounts are the discount codes ?

thanks :)

HermioneWeasley · 13/03/2023 13:27

@Jusmakingit , the codes are usually £50 off your first orde

@GoEasyJulia Yes this is available in Ireland via private prescription from your GP or endocrinologist. It is not covered by DPS yet although this is meant to change soon, mine costs me €145 per month.

Oigetoffmylawn · 13/03/2023 14:18

I need to get motivated to exercise. I'm so unfit!

You might find you will not want any. I have completely gone off wine since starting ozeimpic. Unheard of for me

I heard that when you stop taking it you put on more weight than you lose?

I only took it for 5 weeks as it disagreed with me but I have used the initial weight loss to kickstart a diet. I’ve now lost nearly a stone in 2 months and will stick with my healthier food choices going forward.

It stands to reason that if people don’t make healthier food choices for life when they stop taking Ozempic, then they will regain the weight (sorry). It’s not a magical cure for obesity any more than any other diet. But it does help people who are obese to feel more confident and physically able to start exercising more. And it can help to break bad habits.

The best thing you can do on Ozempic is to learn to eat healthy food that is high protein/low carbohydrate & don’t rush to drastically lose weight by barely eating. That tactic is not sustainable long term and won’t be teaching you anything about how to maintain a healthy weight when you stop taking it and your appetite returns.

Athena51 · 13/03/2023 17:02

I couldn't agree with @Twiglets1 post more. I haven't starved myself. I used Ozempic as a tool to silence the food chatter while I make long-term, permanent, sustainable changes to my food and exercise habits. That's how I aim to keep the weight off when I'm done.

Congrats on your loss as well Twigs Smile

Aw thank you and you’re a good example of someone who really understands Ozempic and has a good long term plan

So I took my first dose this afternoon. Injecting was much easier than I thought it would be. Feeling ok so far. How long did it take to kick in for everyone?

Also have half a bottle of wine left from the weekend overindulgence (before I embark on this!). Not sure whether to just finish it as on a day off tomorrow, or pour it down the sink! Have had a really good day food wise.

NigellaAwesome · 13/03/2023 17:53

I'm just waiting for delivery of my first pen. I'm so pleased to read everyone's experiences.

Bakingmamma · 13/03/2023 17:57

I am on 1mg a week. Does anyone have any tips on how to get the most from it?

It kicked in for me really quickly- within a day of my first injection I had lost my appetite.
I wouldn’t risk half a bottle of wine personally. Maybe compromise on a glass?

Blondewithredlips · 13/03/2023 18:22

Hi has anyone with type 2 diabetes controlled with metformin managed to get a prescription from GP or one of the private providers?

Circa1840 · 13/03/2023 18:41

Yes, totally agree with the eating healthy. You have to use it as a catalyst to change your eating habits. Not sure why anyone would need to starve themselves using it. The joy is that the drug suppresses your appetite anyway so you aren't eating what you would normally eat. Just opt for a healthy diet. Lots of protein and veg. Everyone's weight losses are inspiring. Good luck to all who are just starting.

zoinkss · 13/03/2023 18:42

Hi, would anyone be able to send me a referall code for Manual if possible please?

@LadyFarnborough I'm with Juniper and have a code for £50 your first order. Pm me for details if you want it.

I can report back that I poured the wine but it didn't go down well at all, wasn't enjoying or wanting it, and I poured the rest of the bottle away! Unheard of for me, I LOVE my wine (which the size of my belly is testament to). Whether it's a placebo or it kicking in already, I'll take it!
