“I started Ozempic last night” THREAD FOUR

1000 replies

HermioneWeasley · 12/03/2023 09:17

Can’t believe we’re on thread 4

welcome back to previous posters, and welcome to those who are new or interested.

a few of us have been on Ozempic with a range of experiences for a few months now, so if you’re interested in how it goes in the early days, the earlier threads might be a good place to start.

I’ve been on it for about 6 months now and have lost around 20lbs. It has been effortless. I used to be ravenously hungry all the time, and now I’m not. I had very mild side effects at first (just some nausea), but none now.

most of us have referral codes for various providers, so if you are starting, do ask on the thread and someone will PM you.

Hi, I just did my first injection today! So hopeful for his is going to work.
Silly question- do you keep the needles in the fridge along with the pen?

Yeah I've just been keeping the whole box in the fridge.

No. Once you've used the pen once you don't need to keep it in the fridge. Needles don't need to be refrigerated at all.

RainyDays8 · 14/03/2023 18:40

Has anyone else started at 81kg or thereabouts? How much did you lose in the first month?

I have a wedding in three weeks - should I expect not to be able to eat all the delicious food and drink all the delicious wine?!

Hello - whilst working from home today I only gone and read all 4 threads on this! I'll have a lot of catching up to do when I get into the office tomorrow!
So much valuable info on here.

I'm very keen to start but have a couple of questions.

  1. Why do you move to the 0.5 dose if you are losing on the 0.25 dose and feeling good?
  2. I've watched a couple of vids on youtube about getting a higher dose pen but administering a lower dose using the click method. Why isnt everyone doing this to keep the cost down? Am I missing something?

Thanks so much for any advice.

In my opinion there is no reason to move up to the 0.5 dose while you are still losing weight on the smaller dose. I guess some people are just impatient and feel they will get even more appetite suppression with a higher dose? Or are just following the normal schedule blindly without questioning whether they really need to
Why everyone isn’t using the click method to lower costs? I imagine some people just can’t be bothered or worry about doing it wrong. Maybe the cost isn’t that big of a factor to some people.

I keep it all in the little box in the fridge.

I've placed an order with Manual this afternoon...
I'm excited - they did say experiencing delays and to keep checking. I'm refreshing constantly, I'm so keen to get started. Anybody else ordered with them? How long was delivery?

Lavendersquare · 14/03/2023 19:24

A question about refrigeration, if once opened you don't need to keep the ozempic pen in the fridge, why, when it's sealed and new does it come packed with ice to keep it cool?

Because when you get it it's not opened yet?
it needs to be cold until it's opened, then it doesn't

RichTeaCheddars · 14/03/2023 19:35

@Diedre44 i ordered via Manuel on a Sunday evening and received my order by evri on Thursday. I took my first dose last Thursday

It's kept cold to prolong it's shelf life. Once opened its shelf life is 6 weeks or similar.

I've only had one dose so far, 2nd dose will be on Thurs evening. If by the end of my 4th week I'm still doing well I might consider ordering another 0.25 pen rather than move to a 0.5 but I'm not sure.

Also, I won't be counting clicks as I can be a bit daft and lose my concentration and I'd be worried I'd count wrong.

Thanks Twiglet1 for the reply.
So, I've ordered and am itching to get started.
Having read here and on other boards that people stalled when going up to 0.5, I had just wondered about staying at 0.25. I guess I'll just see how things are going for me.
I'm going to try the click method - why not save a few quid if i can. :)

I felt the same way. It was a big thing for me to be injecting myself in the first place. Any extra complication I couldn’t really cope with the idea of.

Yes, just see how you get on.
It’s great to read other people’s experiences but at the end of the day, we’re all different so you will want to make the best decision for you.

Diedre44 · 14/03/2023 19:56

Thanks for that @RichTeaCheddars
My local Evri driver just lives a cpl of streets from me and leaves us till last usually around 7ish when he turns up. I'll be chomping at the bit all day waiting 🤣

I think because you can’t go straight in to buying 0.5, you have to start with 0.25?

I ordered from Manual on Friday and received it today

Patapouf · 14/03/2023 20:30

Has anyone got a myjuniper link please?

SOWK · 14/03/2023 20:32

My first pen arrived today. I have a mad day tomorrow so I’m planning to do the first dose on Thursday.

I haven’t told DH - have others told their partners, and how did they react? I kinda think I should tell him in case I have a horrible reaction but it just hasn’t come up in conversation.

People don't stall because they increase the dosage. They stall at the 4-6 week point because they are developing a tolerance to the drug and at the same time are not yet at the therapeutic dose. Some people are extremely sensitive to the drug and find 0.25 enough to have the desired effect but most people need to go up to 1mg.

Patapouf · 14/03/2023 20:30

@Patapouf I use Juniper and have a £50 off code for new referrals, pm me if you want the details.

(I get a £50 voucher as well, just so you're aware)

themuminator · 14/03/2023 20:46

@SOWK I haven't told anyone except a very good friend. Even then I felt she judged me a little bit!
You are doing this for you. So it's up to you whether or not you choose to tell anyone.
I feel like this chat is very useful for support, that's all I need!

LadyFarnborough · 14/03/2023 20:55

@SOWK I told my DH I ordered it. Didn't think I could hide a sharps bin as well as the drugs in the fridge! Also, the doom merchant in me thought it wise someone knew in case of any complications. Had the predictable conversation of 'well if you were just consistent you would actually lose weight' but that was about it. I can be as consistent as I want but at the end of the day, following a 1300 calorie a day diet with frequent exercise only ever results in half a pound loss if I'm lucky.

SOWK · 14/03/2023 21:36

My problem is that DH lost several stone last year and found it pretty easy. He’s still super smug and he doesn’t understand why I find it hard.
