"I Started Ozempic Last Night" THREAD THREE

1000 replies

Athena51 · 16/02/2023 08:44

Starting a new thread as we are dangerously close to finishing thread two. So great to have this supportive community to share our experiences of taking Ozempic for weightloss.

"Old-timers" and new starters all welcome!

Thank you @Mumonamission123 for the needle info

HolibobsinApril · 18/02/2023 09:55

Has anyone stayed on the 0.25 dose for an extended period. I am only on week 3 but feel it's really working, however I may be deluded and it may well start to wear off.

MiniCooperLover · 18/02/2023 10:45

I did the 4 weeks and moved up after that but felt comfortable that it was working on that size. We are away in a month and I'm debating going back to that while away

orangelotus · 18/02/2023 12:32

i feel like crying! have gone from 12"5 to 12"9
And I cannot see why.
Hoping it's a blip on the scales as i am really sticking to a slimming world model as i have the books etc
Maybe I should change to calories and see if that helps?
Definitely not as appetite suppressed now as at the start I have had 6 0.5 doses now think i'll up it to the 1mg and see what happens.
Thankyou as well to the quickmeds recommendation was really easy to order and a lot cheaper than juniper plus they are sending a 1 mg pen

Are you due on or ovulating? I vary up to half a stone heavier just before I come on and when I’m ovulating.

@orangelotus hoping someone comes back with a positive answer to this as it's also happened to me 😩😩

Twiglets1 · 18/02/2023 15:09

Am I the only one on this thread that is suffering from bad nausea on Ozempic? Last week I was sick 2 days after my 0.25 injection, but I put it down to drinking Prosecco that day.
This week I thought I had got away with it as injected on Wednesday and was fine for the rest of the week. But I woke up today feeling nauseous again and having felt poorly all day, I was eventually sick again. Now I feel much better but I've effectively eaten nothing all day as I bought up the toast I had for breakfast.

I definitely won't go up to 0.5mg while I am still having this side effect. In fact, I wonder if I should continue with Ozempic at all.
I probably will at least carry on using it until my pen is empty, but I'm delaying ordering a new pen because I don't want to feel sick 1 day every week. Of course, it is absolutely possible it is just my body adapting but I'm surprised it's taking this long (took dose 4 on Wednesday).

tregunamekoidestrecorumsatisdee · 18/02/2023 15:18

I was sick the morning after taking the second dose but nothing before or since thankfully. Im absolutely fine today after the 3rd but don't even have a flicker of appetite yet whereas I was starving all day yesterday. I think it definitely 'runs out' by the end of the week.

Try halving the dose? Sounds like you are v sensitive to the drug. Maybe twice a week at the reduced dose . You could use the click chart to work out the amount?

It's so disheartening isn't it?

Yes maybe I will try that next week, thank you.

TheGrandUpwards · 18/02/2023 16:22

I'm joining in! Just submitted my first request to Juniper.

I have fibromyalgia and am on associated meds, which I hope won't count me out. It's been the thing that's caused the weight pile-on tbh.

My memory of the pen needles has been clexane post-delivery of DS2 (over a decade ago) and I remember hating it, so slightly nervous about this. I hate being overweight more, however.

Fudgeandcaramel · 18/02/2023 16:48

Do you have to have a bmi of 30 to obtain this? I have an overweight range bmi but a large stomach measurement that puts me at risk. How strict are the providers? Many thanks

I believe you are supposed to have a BMI of 30 or higher to obtain it. However, I wouldn't say the providers are strict. They ask you to provide your own weight & height & there is no checking the accuracy.
I'm sure there are people who use it who are under 30 or whose BMI dips below 30 after a few months. Some people will disapprove of this as you have probably already guessed. Then again, some people disappove of Ozempic being used for weight loss purposes whatever your BMI.

Fudgeandcaramel · 18/02/2023 17:18

thanks very much

Kfjsjdbd · 18/02/2023 17:24

I started with a BMI of 27.6 and now have a BMI of 26. I just lied about my initial weight (which I know some people don’t approve of). Similarly to you I have a large waist size which puts me at risk.

Peridot1 · 18/02/2023 18:00

@orangelotus - it could well be a blip but keep at it. If you increase to 1mg try it at two doses of 0.5 per week as it seems to be quite effective that way. Reduce your carbs, up your protein and drink lots of water.

@Twiglets1 - the nausea could be from what you are eating rather than the drug. So the first time it could have been the prosecco and today it could have been that you had toast. Maybe try a lower carb breakfast? Ozempic doesn’t just work on appetite suppression but on insulin so reducing carbs can definitely help with the weight loss but with nausea. I’m not sure how exactly but I know the times I’ve felt nauseous was definitely related to what I had eaten. Or sometimes it’s because I need to eat something.

MiniCooperLover · 18/02/2023 18:03

orangelotus, I would try a Valerie counting type thing than slimming world. Certain elements of Slimming World is high calorie I think and I do think this drug only works on a calorie deficit

orangelotus · 18/02/2023 18:12

thankyou mini i'll look that up

I don’t know, I find it a bit too restrictive if I can’t even eat one slice of wholemeal toast in the morning without worrying about nausea. Also I didn’t feel quite right from the moment I woke up.
Nausea is a side effect that is well documented. I will persevere with Ozempic until my current pen is empty and hopefully in that time my system will be able to adapt to it. I can’t imagine giving up alcohol or toast forever so maybe it isn’t for me. In any case I’ve lost 8lb in a month which is a great kick start to my diet so it has been worth it whether I can continue with Ozempic long term or not.

Lavenderwoods · 18/02/2023 18:51

I'm now on week 5, the first two weeks I had no symptoms at all which was great but after that started to feel nauseous quite often. I felt at first it was linked to what I was eating, so if I ate a good sized meal I'll feel really sick afterwards. However week 4, I started feeling sick quite often every time I ate but by day 6 it had completely worn off and I was really hungry etc. Last night I took my first 0.5 dose and I've felt sick most of today. I had a cappuccino and I felt like I was going to actually vomit but luckily I haven't! I've lost 7 lbs so far which is great so I would like to continue. If anyone has any tips to dealing with feeling sick I would appreciate it. Thank you!

Could you try 0.25 every 4 days or so maybe?

MiniCooperLover · 18/02/2023 19:41

Lavenderwoods, I would go back down a bit and deliberately make smaller portions and see if that helps (with lots of water).

Lisbon2013 · 18/02/2023 20:54

Does anyone have a code for Ozempic please? Thank

HermioneWeasley · 18/02/2023 21:36
