Starting a new thread as we are dangerously close to finishing thread two. So great to have this supportive community to share our experiences of taking Ozempic for weightloss.

"Old-timers" and new starters all welcome!

I'm midway through my second week on ozempic up until today I'd have said I haven't had any side effects, other than possibly being a little bit constipated.

Oh how that's changed! Started earlier, I needed to go whilst in work which was a bit urgent but ok. Then on my way home I felt the need to go again , made it home just in time and then had the most horrendous diarrhoea imaginable felt like I was stuck on the toilet for ever.

It's thankfully passed but stomach feels decidedly dodgy.

Do you think this is Ozempic related?

Deffo ozempic related I had this once a week for weeks but it's disappeared in last month or so

Lavendersquare · 11/03/2023 11:24

Hi @DyanDeutsch I started using Ozempic 2 weeks ago and use Juniper.

I signed up online and like you was dubious about paying before knowing if I had been accepted or not. However the payment isn't actually taken until you are accepted not when you send the questionnaire back, I presume if you're declined you don't have anything taken from your bank at all.

I know there are cheaper options but for me I wanted the back up support that they offer and I've been really pleased so far with the service, the online support group and how quickly they have answered by emails.

If you do want to sign up to Juniper I have a referral code that gives you £50 off your first order, for full disclosure I get £50 back too. If you want the code send me a pm.

Thanks so much for your quick reply.😁
Could you tell me how long the process from applying to approval took and then how long before you received the meds?
Also my BMI is now 28.9 (down from 45). I want to be truthful about my weight but have heard I might be rejected because the BMI might not be high enough. Has anyone been rejected or accepted with a BMI similar to this?

Lavendersquare · 11/03/2023 13:02

@Happierwithouthim thankfully everything seems to be more settled today, the best bit is that I weighed this morning on day 12 since starting and I've lost 9.5lb! That's a record for me regardless of the diet and I'm eating what I want to just smaller portions and have no desire to snack.

Lavendersquare · 11/03/2023 13:08

@DyanDeutsch I applied on a Thursday and was accepted within a day, my first delivery arrived on the Tuesday, so pretty quick. They don't dispatch over the weekend and the parcel was delivered by DPD and even had ice packs to keep it cold, it can stay in the packaging for 48 hours if you miss delivery etc.

With regard to your BMI, personally I wouldn't lie I don't think that's advisable at all, however I would add notes explaining why you want it prescribed. My BMI was over 30 so not an issue, but if you have another weight related issue (high blood pressure, joint problems etc) you can have it with a BMI of 27 or over.

NigellaAwesome · 11/03/2023 13:35

I've just taken the plunge and ordered throned through DailyChemist. I'm making my way through the thread and finding everyone's experiences really useful.

I've been thinking about it for ages, really struggle with self control. I went to a function yesterday and saw the photos today - it has given me the push I really need to take action. I have completed the online questionnaire and can't wait for a decision

(52, menopausal, BMI of 38+, and high cholesterol and borderline high blood pressure).

suphi · 11/03/2023 13:35

I took my 4th .025 dose last night and although I've been lucky enough to have zero bad side effects, I've noticed a great but totally unforseen side effect, my sleep has become much, much better.

I have a Withings watch which measures my sleep quality but I hardly needed it my sleep was so broken. I had occasional insomnia but even when I did sleep it was often broken and shallow. Despite sometimes getting a good night's sleep, my average Withings sleep score was in the 70s, sometimes down as far as the 50s, but since the very first Ozempic dose my sleep score has been consistently in the 90s. I'm elated (and rested).

Hello! I haven’t RTFT but I’m looking for reassurance for someone who’s further down the line than I am. I’m with Juniper, been taking Ozempic for 4 weeks. I’ve just taken my first 0.5mg injection, moved up from 0.25mg.

In 1 calendar month I’ve lost 5lbs. I’m post-menopausal and there’s no doubt that my metabolism has slowed, but really, in the old days if I went on “a diet” (I used to do Dukan) I could lose 1 stone in six weeks. Anyway, I’m nervous about the fact that I’ve just doubled my dose.

Some of my side effects have been pretty awful - headaches, indigestion, diarrhoea, stomach pains and tiredness. I’m working full time and I don’t know how much longer I can stick with it if I’m going to continue to feel so bad. Overall, I’m satisfied with the weight loss. If I can lose 5lbs in a month, maybe I can lose 50lbs in ten months, right?

MissLucyLiu · 11/03/2023 14:18

I am in my first week of .25 Ozempic.
I haven’t noticed any side effect yet I am starting to wonder if it’s even working at all? I am eating normally and feeling hungry and eating the same amount! I was already on a fasting schedule where I eat between 12-6pm anyway. Don’t look like I am dropping any weight but I feel less bloated - which is a huge plus of course but is this Ozempic related?

what I did notice is I get incredibly thirsty at night time ! Did anyone else have this?

Happierwithouthim · 11/03/2023 14:52

@ErmineAndPearls is this constant or just the day after injecting?

SAME. I took my first dose on Wednesday and felt nothing. Wondered if I'd even done it correctly.

MissLucyLiu · 11/03/2023 15:28

Yeah I am now wondering if I even injected anything. The injection site didn’t feel any pain. Should I just inject another .25 just to see if any difference ?! 😅

AlternativelyWired · 11/03/2023 15:49

Please read up on how the drug works. The appetite suppressant effects are a side effect. Not everyone will get side effects. You are supposed to feel hunger because you are a living being. Ozempic is to be used alongside a healthy diet and exercise. Please read the NICE guidance I posted up thread because it explains well about how the drug works and what you can expect from it. It can take 8 weeks to reach full effect. It is absorbed slowly from the fat layer under the skin. It's going to take time and you need to have a healthy lifestyle in addition to the injection.

MissLucyLiu · 11/03/2023 15:50

How do I find this NICE guide ?

No you really shouldn’t do that. Coming from someone who had quite severe nausea & vomiting, you shouldn’t risk taking a double dose before your body is used to the drug. It’s highly likely you did it properly but just aren’t feeling any effects yet. I also wondered if I had done it right as the injection seemed almost too easy but that is because the needle is tiny.
Please give it time to work and don’t rush to take a double dose so soon. Wait to see if you get any side effects in the next 3-4 weeks.

So my BMI is 48 I need to loose bare minimum 10st to get to healthy range. How feasible is it to follow the Newcastle Diet for 8 weeks along side Ozempic to give a good kick start? I've never had any issues with my own size/weight being brutally honest. I have no major health issues but have started to find I'm getting slightly more out of puff recently especially after my last bout of Covid a few weeks ago.
I have to do something.

Don't do any kind of very low calorie diet alongside ozempic. The drug works to reduce your blood sugar and regulate your insulin. You need to eat enough to fuel your body. Pick one or the other but don't try to do both at once. You'll get ill.

100% agree with @Diedre44, just to note having done a VLCD (which I believe is similar to the Newcastle diet), I am actually losing more weight on 1600 calories and Ozempic than I did on the VLCD....

ErmineAndPearls · 11/03/2023 19:11

@Happierwithouthim Actually, I seem to be ok the day after the injection, it’s about day three and four that these side effects seem to peak. To those who are saying it’s not working fast enough for them - be patient! I didn’t feel any appetite suppressant effect for the first two weeks. Four weeks in, I have no appetite at all. I think I could comfortably go through the whole day without eating anything (not that I’m suggesting that) but a headache would eventually tell me that my blood sugar was low and I’d be lacking energy. But I wouldn’t feel hungry.

Oigetoffmylawn · 11/03/2023 19:39

I've lost a stone!!!!

Whoop whoop!

Was worrying I'd slipped in to another dreaded plateau, but nope 1.5lbs gone over night (with thanks to a large, ahem, evacuation). 9 weeks. Took dose 10 (I think?) Today. 1 more 0.5 dose left in this pen then on to 1mg.

Possibly the slowest but easiest I've ever lost a stone.

orangelotus · 11/03/2023 19:39

wonderful- that's so nice to hear!!!

I could really easily do a vlcd on this if I wanted. I do occasionally use some of the shake's to get my nutrients in as I find it quite hard to eat sufficient volumes of quality food at times. I know they aren't great but I think some protein and vitamins from a shake pack is better than nothing, I certainly can't eat a full portion of veg on days 2&3. Protein I find easier to get down but not in much volume and carbs of any description I really struggle with until days 4&5. Like half a slice of wholemeal toast is my max type struggle!

ErmineAndPearls · 11/03/2023 20:24

That’s great to hear, @Oigetoffmylawn. That’s exactly the kind of success story that I need to hear at the moment!

Secretboringsister · 11/03/2023 22:15

Hi friends. I saw someone saying they found the novofine needles from Amazon. Juniper sent me 4mm ones. Amazon has 6mm of that brand. Will that work or is there a competitor product anyone has tried?

thanks
