Starting a new thread as we are dangerously close to finishing thread two. So great to have this supportive community to share our experiences of taking Ozempic for weightloss.

"Old-timers" and new starters all welcome!

@Lavenderwoods when I was experiencing nausea I found little and often helped, so not letting myself get too hungry. I’ve been on 1mg for 3 months now and I’d say the side effects have completely gone, just leaving appetite reduction

themuminator · 18/02/2023 21:51

Could I ask some stupid questions?!

I have reached 16 st after a bad accident which has left me fairly immobile. So I've got about 4 stone at least to lose. I also don't have loads of money (single parent) but I think I need to do this however I can. I'd be willing to give up a lot of little extras to get my body under control.

Would I need to order just 1 pen to start with (0.25mg) and ensure I can order in time for the next month? Ordering several in advance would be a credit card job which I'd much rather avoid.

HealthExpress looks cheapest at £159. Is this an ok place to order from? Every little helps and it is much cheaper than Juniper.

Why would I need extra needles?

How much diet control is also needed? I'm hoping if I just make some healthier choices that will be enough and the appetite suppression will take care of the rest. The main result I'd like is less sugar dependency which I think this would help with.

Hopefully I will be able to join in the chat soon! Thanks all :-)

Does anyone have a code for Ozempic please? Thank

I have a code with manual, your first order will be £123 manual.co/r/U-Q5gZ4aTsmW

@themuminator I’m not sure anywhere will sell you a 1mg dose pen as a first timer, though it would be much cheaper as in theory it would last you 8 weeks. The pens are designed to be twisted up to their set dose so I think it would be difficult to work out how much your first 4 0.25mg doses would be.

the normal regime is 4 weeks at 0.25 then 4 weeks at 0.5 before you move up to 1mg.

Oh I see! I hadn't appreciated that it would be cheaper to get 1mg and try to inject less over a longer period for starting doses.

Thanks that is good to know. I guess you could also do it for the 0.5mg doses?

I just had a fuck it moment and ordered via Manual as it was £129. Then I think I'll switch to Health Express. Looking forward to seeing how it goes and taking the first step. This board has been really useful. Thank you.

It’s fine just to order 1 pen at a time, it’s what most people do. That one pen will last more than 4 weeks as it has more than 4 lots of 0.25mg in it. Some people on here are ordering extra needles though as they only provide 4 needles strangely.

Urgh last night DH and I went out for a lovely meal. A tasting menu so tiny plates, and I didn't eat more than half of anyone plate, yet threw it all u when we got back home 😭

First time I've been sick on this! Such a shame as well.

DorotheaDiamond · 19/02/2023 07:39

Here’s a question - am just about to order first pen - is there any way to skip a dose so that I can actually eat at a wedding I’m going to in 5 weeks?

You'll probably find that the effects wear off towards the end of the week anyway at 0.25 so time the dose that you take it the day after whenever your wedding will be.

feelsoawfuleverythingaches · 19/02/2023 08:17

I have put in an order but they won't ship it until I send a full picture of myself.

Do most sites get you to do this to check your body?

I used Healthexpress which was recommended by someone on this site.

I used Mayfair weight loss clinic & they didn’t ask for a photo

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 19/02/2023 08:22

I have only had this from health express. I actually think they are the most careful that I have come across and did like them when I used them. I can understand the photo as you could type in any weight and lie. But then you could also find a photo of someone else I guess.

Athena51 · 19/02/2023 08:25

I started Ozempic on 0.5mg, the monthly subscriptions didn't exist when I started and it wasn't so well known or publicised and that's what was recommended.

I wasn't ever sick but I did have awful nausea, the worst sulphur burps ever and absolute exhaustion. I could barely eat a thing. It was rough and if I hadn't been absolutely desperate at the time I don’t think I could have carried on.

It didn't last though and I got through it. I basically just have the appetite suppression now. Sometimes I feel a bit icky in the morning or get the burps if I eat something that doesn't agree with me.

I think you have to weigh up the pros and cons. No point in losing weight if you feel ill all the time but I think you have to give it a chance too.

That’s interesting Athena and obviously it was worth it in your case as you’ve gone on to lose a good amount of weight.
I feel like I ought to persevere with Ozempic as I’ve got another 2 stone to lose (at least) but yesterday was basically a total write off as I barely left my bedroom for feeling ill.
Today I feel fine and not surprisingly, the scales were kind to me this morning. I appreciate other people sharing their experiences.

Lavenderwoods · 19/02/2023 09:11

Thank you to everyone who replied to me. Yesterday was my worst evening so far, I felt sick all evening and it even kept me up through the night. I'm scared to drink my coffee my partner has made incase it makes me feel worse as I still feel sick this morning! I think I will go back to 0.25 maybe and then try to increase the following week. Hopefully it's just temporary.

Sorry to hear that Lavender, it’s very relatable to me! I think it sounds a good idea to return to 0.25mg. Obviously some of us are a lot more susceptible to the nausea side effect than others. We need to take it slowly.

I think going out for a meal is always going to be risky on ozempic. I went to Nando's with DP the other day because we weren't that hungry and wanted to order starters without being shamed for it. We got 3 starters and a portion of fries and I felt so stuffed after and had indigestion all night (maybe from the chilli)
I'm going to a naice and expensive restaurant next weekend 😫 I think I'll go for no starter and the smallest/saladiest main.

It must be awful to feel so unwell.
I guess if you are ok on the lower dose re side effects and still
having the appetite suppression then if you could still
order the 1mg pen it really would keep the cost down?
I just keep thinking imagine being diabetic and having very little choice about the medication you have to take

TheGrandUpwards · 19/02/2023 11:23

Sorry for all the folks feeling so sick. Do the old morning sickness tricks work? Sipping ginger tea etc.

I've been approved for Juniper. They have this in my treatment plan:

Please note, on this plan you will be on the 0.5mg dose for your second and third month. This is because there is a global shortage of Ozempic 1mg pens and we therefore need to limit the amount of 1mg treatment we provide until the shortage resolves. In addition, our medical team advises that this slightly slower titration schedule will be beneficial in helping to minimise the chance of side effects, as it gives your body more time to adjust to the medication.

Anyone think this is a issue?

polopolopolopoo · 19/02/2023 11:35

For those eating breakfast can I please have your ideas for no-carb food? All I ever fancy is a piece of toast and something like eggs or anything too savoury doesn't appeal at that time of day. I usually end up with a banana and a coffee but think it spikes my sugar.

Cancel after the first month and buy a 1mg pen somewhere else.

hmm at least they are admitting the rationale is the shortage of the drug rather than the efficacy.
I started with them in december and they put me on the same regime.
i'm just waiting for a delivery of a 1 mg pen from quickmeds / approved but not yet dispatched. If that comes this week I intend to go onto the 1mg dose which is supposed to be the therapeutic dose straight away and cancel juniper. Perhaps you could do the first two months with them and then see if another company can provide a 1mg pen?
I asked Juniper to increase my dose but they refused.

Yogurt and berries/fruit? My go to breakfast is Greek yogurt (high protein) and berries or pomegranate seeds

Lndnmummy · 19/02/2023 12:33

Hi all, just a quick question. Is 1mg the highest dose? Or do you go up again after 4 weeks?
