"I Started Ozempic Last Night" THREAD THREE

1000 replies

Athena51 · 16/02/2023 08:44

Starting a new thread as we are dangerously close to finishing thread two. So great to have this supportive community to share our experiences of taking Ozempic for weightloss.

"Old-timers" and new starters all welcome!

Marking my place so that this links to threads I’m on.

Have had a pretty disastrous last couple of weeks on 0.50, it doesn’t seem to do much for me in terms of appetite suppression. It’s strange as the 0.25 worked really well and I barely thought about food at all. My body must have got used to the drug.

Do you think it would be a disaster if I used my last two 0.50 doses together to make 1mg when I inject tomorrow? I don’t want to develop any unpleasant side effects (which I haven’t had too many of so far) but am really worried that if I carry on at 0.50 I’ll put on most of the weight I managed to lose in the early weeks on Ozempic.

I'm exactly the same! Last two weeks I've been on 0.5 but it's not stopping my appetite and I've eaten more than ever 😂
No side effects thankfully so I'm wondering the same too re starting on 1mg next week

Abeachsomewhere · 17/02/2023 17:10

orangelotus · 17/02/2023 15:39

oh that sounds really disappointing .
How many doses of 0.5mgs have you already taken?

Two - so tomorrow would be my third. It is really frustrating as I was feeling so good about the way things were going, it was a revelation not to be thinking about food all the time and the weight was dropping off!

Oh no! So sorry that this is also happening to you 😔 I seem to feel fuller as the day goes on but am literally starving in the morning. I think the four weeks on each dose is more to allow the body time to adjust to the increase, so surely if the body is already coping well with the dosage it wouldn’t hurt to move up? That’s what I’m hoping but it would be good to hear from people who have experienced this/know more about how Ozempic works. I’ve only been taking it since early January.

This has also happened to me!!
I'm on my 8th week and the appetite suppression has really worn off.
I've contacted Juniper and they've advised me to stay on 0.5, when I want to move up to 1mg early.
I'm quite cross because I'm undoing all of my good work and they don't appear to be listening.

Thanks for the new thread @Athena51.

I too ordered from UK meds and my order was delayed but was eventually dispatched. But after I’d left home to come on holiday. They attempted delivery on Wednesday but no one was home. DH rearranged delivery but earliest delivery he could get was the 20th. Of course it turns out they would have just attempted delivery again the day after the failed delivery. So mine will have been in transit for almost a week by the time it’s delivered. No idea what to do about it.

@ladyforallseasons and @Abeachsomewhere - a lot of people including me found a dose of 0.5 twice a week more effective than the full 1mg dose so maybe try that?

orangelotus · 17/02/2023 17:33

I found there was an extra dose even in the 0.5 mg ( did anyone else?) could you take a dose after 5 days rather than seven. The literature is clear that as long as more than two days have gone that should be ok?
. I have been taking mine a day early each time as for example now i feel really hungry but am actively resisting going to get food before dinner.

Maybe try splitting the 1mg dose? So 0.5 and then another 0.5 after 3-4 days? Quite a few people find that more effective.

I inject 0.5 every 4 days but it seems to have a strong effect on me that hasn't diminished that much over the year. I do get hungry (which I think is a good thing as I want to develop my natural cues for hunger and satiety) and I really enjoy my food, I just eat far less, never binge and don't have any of that food chatter.

I still have to work at eating well etc but it does make it infinitely easier to maintain a calorie deficit.

I have noticed that i get a bit anxious if I think I might go over my calorie allowance, I'm trying to keep an eye on that as I don't want to swap one set of disordered behaviours for another!

That’s so frustrating about the delivery given that it is meant to be kept refrigerated, surely they have to send you a new pen?

Unfortunately I don’t think injecting twice a week will do much for me as the lack of effect is pretty much instantaneous. I don’t get any appetite suppression until much later in the day (bizarrely!) when it is too late and the damage has already been done.

Abeachsomewhere · 17/02/2023 18:11

Good news, possibly, in that I just placed an order for the 1mg pen with my usual supplier and it was accepted. My prescription still needs to be reviewed, but assuming all goes well I think I’m going to double up on the 0.50 dose tomorrow with the hope that I can then take the 1mg from next week.

I also forgot that I’ve effectively had three doses of 0.50, as I had doubled up on my last dose of 0.25. So that makes me feel better about doubling up on my fourth dose tomorrow. I had three weeks at the 0.25 dose so hopefully three weeks at the 0.50 dose is enough.

Fingers crossed that the increase works for me and I don’t end up with horrible side effects!

stillavid · 17/02/2023 18:23

I have been getting mine from the Virtual Slimming Clinic - v good service.

I am 3 months in and on 1mg per week. I don't weigh very often but from how I look and what I can fit in - suspect I am 1.5 stone down. I love it!

BellyDancer124 · 17/02/2023 18:39

Athena51 · 17/02/2023 08:46

I'm now 1.5lbs away from my 5 stone loss - can I do it by the end of Feb????
I'm over the halfway point now depending on what my target weight it. I'm quite tall (5ft 7) and I'm one of those dense "metal bones" people who always look much lighter than they are. I'm aiming for 11 stone which will give me a healthy BMI.

I'd like to be a size 12 (the teeny-tinies of MN would have a fit at wanting to be as massive as that!). I haven't been that sort of weight for years so it's hard to judge. I shall keep on with the weight training though as building/maintaining muscle is especially important post menopause and I'm sure it helps with loose skin.

Wishing you all a good day.

Wow, amazing! Well done Flowers

Katrinawaves · 17/02/2023 19:08

I work on the basis that the whole pen needs to be used within 56 days of it not being refrigerated rather than from the first dose. I can’t see what would start the clock running about taking the first dose otherwise.

I took 0.5 today and am hoping that I tolerate it this time around as it’s been a few weeks since I was last sick having gone back down to 0.25mgs for a month on Numan’s advice. If it doesn’t work, I’ll stick on 0.25 and take half doses from my current pen.

HolibobsinApril · 17/02/2023 19:19

If they last 56 days out of the fridge, surely they can last longer in the fridge. Has anyone had theirs go cloudy?

Does anyone have a link of where to buy the needles please?

Prettybubblesintheair · 17/02/2023 20:05

I feel like I have the opposite hunger pattern to others, when I wake up I couldn’t eat even if I wanted to. First time I feel like eating is about midday, but by dinner I’m getting hungry. I can’t eat as much so I tend to not finish but I definitely feel more like eating in the evening than the morning. Not sure if it’s because I’m used to intermittent fasting.

tregunamekoidestrecorumsatisdee · 17/02/2023 20:46

3rd jab done and there seemed to be much more liquid left on the needle this time a bead on the top and one sliding down. I held it in for 20 seconds so I don't know why 🤔

That's exactly the same as me. I can't eat until about 12/1pm so I just have lunch and dinner. I loved breakfast before so it's an Ozempic thing. If I've been to the gym first thing I have to make myself eat something small or I feel a bit faint.

Just done my 2nd dose of 0.5, using the 9 clicks remaining in my first pen, then then 27 clicks of my new pen 😏

My new pen hurt a bit more, no idea why!

Oigetoffmylawn · 17/02/2023 21:27

I haven't felt it has worn off yet though so forgot to dose this morning!

I got my needles from Amazon Set Lance Diabetic Insulin Pen Tips 32G x 4 mm (100 Pcs/Box) amzn.eu/d/9ddZRdJ. They fit the pen perfectly and you get 100 in the box

I'm normally a intermittent faster (16/8) but I now have to eat breakfast and don't really want much for dinner.

tregunamekoidestrecorumsatisdee · 17/02/2023 21:54

I do intermittent fasting from 1pm to 9pm. There's no way I could eat earlier on Ozempic even when I felt hungry this morning I didn't actually fancy anything when I was looking at the food. But I am generally v hungry by dinner time in the evening

Hi everyone. After reading all three threads I’ve finally made the decision to start this (so grossed by the idea of injecting so have been avoiding but I’m now determined!)

Would anyone be happy and able to share a discount code for Juniper with me over DM? Thank you 😊

I don’t use Juniper and if you have read this thread you will see that people are currently experiencing problems with it as they seem to have supply issues.

Just wanted reassure you about the injections. They honestly aren’t bad at all and I’m borderline needle phobic. It’s a pen not a syringe and all you do is pop it into your leg or stomach. The actual needle is very fine. It’s nowhere near as bad as getting an injection at the doctors.

MuMuMuuuum · 18/02/2023 07:38

@TrickyBiscuits I was really nervous for the injection but you really don’t feel a thing the needle is tiny. I have used Manual and they have been good so far, sorry I don’t have a discount code.

I just took my second dose of 0.25 and have lost 2.4lbs in my first week which I’m really pleased with. I had some stomach cramps one evening after eating pasta but other than that I’ve had a good week. The appetite suppression has made it easy to stick to a healthy eating plan and I’ve lost interest in alcohol and sweets.
