Fresh new year, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

PS - In the coming days I’ll post some links which some members might find useful. Feel free to share your own links, recipes and photos too 😊

Forgot menu for today
Lunch- A ridiculously large bowl of pineapple (enough to hurt my mouth) with muesli and an apple.
Dinner- Cajun Chicken, grilled sweetcorn and some sort of greens

@Cloudberries123 you are my hero 😂❤️

buzzofthebumblebee · 31/01/2023 16:31

Official loss of 6lbs in January. Pleased with that. Took a lot of effort (and restraint / denial !!). No alcohol. Over 80 km run.

Thank you for the support everyone, and to @TheRealHousewife for the tread!.

See you all tomorrow on the shiny new February thread !!

SingaporeSlinky · 31/01/2023 16:44

@buzzofthebumblebee that’s amazing! Well done. What’s your overall target?

Cloudberries123 · 31/01/2023 17:02

buzz that's amazing! Well done! You'll have made up for me who definitely hasn't lost the promised 4lbs in January 😂

LittlePea 😁 Not a bad combo either I have to say!

ImALittlePea · 31/01/2023 17:18

@buzzofthebumblebee that's amazing!! Well done!

@Cloudberries123 welcome to the cult 🤣

buzzofthebumblebee · 31/01/2023 17:35

Thank you all, but really not deserved.

I'm only losing the weight I re-gained last year. So it isn't actually proper loss.

I got down to 11 2 end Feb last year (big birthday) - loss of 2 stone - but put 11 lbs back on over course of the year (mainly in November & December).

SW -11 13 Jan 2023
CW - 11 7

GW1 - 11 2 - to be back to where I was Feb 2022
GW2 - 10 10 - so a total of 9lbs more to go

Apart from two days of family birthdays when I had cake, I have been very strict. No alcohol has been pretty key to it I think, sadly (as gin or wine leads to crisps / snacking)

I'm going to continue efforts into Feb, but permit myself alcohol on special occasions. Will still be very strict on no sugar & no white carbs

Hats off to everyone this month - even consciously being here is making us all mindful of what we put in our mouths. If we are susceptible to weight gain (otherwise why would be be here?!), even a maintain is still therefore a big achievement.

buzzofthebumblebee · 31/01/2023 17:36

can't count. 11 lbs more to go. Sigh.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 31/01/2023 18:11

No loss overall for me this month sadly. But some health issues and a number of significant celebrations meant it was always going to be hard. All set to get back on it for February.

We'll done to everyone with losses, and chin up to those who didn't!

AutisticLegoLover · 31/01/2023 18:21

@buzzofthebumblebee of course it's a real loss and counts! Don't beat yourself up.

It will be interesting to see what the scales say tomorrow. I was 63kg on the 9th January which is when I started back on the wagon. So it will be 23 days tomorrow. I'm cross with myself that I put weight on over the Christmas holidays because I'm unlikely to reach my half term goal of 58.5mg although I'd settle for 60kg.Regardless of the number on the scale my clothes fit better and my stomach is less rounded and bloated.

SingaporeSlinky · 31/01/2023 20:55

@AutisticLegoLover same as me, I’m annoyed I went through the whole of December eating chocolates and mince pies and pannetone and all that stuff without a second thought. Every time I lose weight, I always say ‘I wish I’d started sooner’.

Allthegoodnamestakken · 01/02/2023 07:51

Hello All
Feeling pretty disheartened this week as weighed in at 66.4kg this morning which is no real movement from last Wednesday, in fact, it's actually a gain. I have eaten well and exercised quite a bit this week so disappointed. Would really like to get to 65kg flat and ideally 64. something this month.
Going to analyze what I've eaten this week and see where I can make some changes, I think probably to much bread and not enough veg and water.

TheRealHousewife · 01/02/2023 08:19

Good Morning Everyone ❤️

Sorry I missed posting on January’s final day yesterday. My WOW is 9st 8lb so gained back the grief loss and now stabilised. I’m hoping for 2-3lbs loss for February 👍

@buzzofthebumblebee Dont be hard on yourself. You’ve still achieved real weight loss! If you had not altered your lifestyle and eating habits you would weigh more now. Healthy eating and healthy lifestyle choices ebb and flow with life. And like life you’ll be on top of it and other times it’ll be on top of you. You do what you need to to get through. Ultimately you’re going in the right direction 👍

I’ve lost one post today so making it short. The longer the thread is the more my iPad is struggling to load it and keeps refreshing. I don’t know if it’s all the ads on the site or my iPad. Anyone else having problems?

@Allthegoodnamestakken Please don’t get disheartened. I have experience of doing all the right things and not being rewarded to the point I thought I’d reached my bodies set point. Stayed the same for about a year 😮. I didn’t give up, I started making minor tweaks and went back to cc/portion control and entered EVERYTHING in MyFitnessPal. One of the tweaks I did was to stop having fancy coffee like cappuccino or latte regularly and even started having black instant. I prefer it black now. I also try to get the water in which isn’t always easy. I sometimes add fresh lemon juice which makes a refreshing change. I also started small daily sessions of exercise (most days) It all helped and I started losing again. I never gave up as I realised that I’d quickly gain everything back and then some. Keep going 👍

Oops, meant to post on February thread!

Bumblebeehum · 03/02/2023 08:45

Morning! I started a new job this week so haven’t been monitoring the thread so much, have managed to maintain sensible eating though (there is a fellow soup fan in my office).

For Christmas I got a 12 day beauty calendar that I didn’t really need to open over new year so I’ve decided to use as reward for every 1lb that comes off. It makes me feel positive that I will actually lose 12lbs and not fall back into old habits.

Still waiting to open the first window 😊
