Fresh new year, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself. These threads are for those who’d like to lose and those who wish to maintain whilst eating a healthy varied diet.

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (weigh on Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and eat twice a day. Im a long time healthy eater and overall I’ve lost over 3 stone. After having been on the wrong side of 12st Im now hovering around 9st. I had a blip a couple of years ago when my thyroid went wonky but now back on track.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

PS - In the coming days I’ll post some links which some members might find useful. Feel free to share your own links, recipes and photos too 😊

Morning all, maintained this week which I will take after going out for dinner last night. Determined to see the 11s next week.

Was so cold on my way in so have had a hot chocolate with skimmed milk (small changes!) to start the day.

Lunch Moroccan Cous Cous with feta
Dinner smoked salmon pasta

Have done a good half hour stroll with the pooch this morning, and am out at the stables tonight so I reckon I will shiver off a lb or so!!

Pooch pic to say hi!

Well done to everyone that has seen a loss on the scales today. And for those who have seen a small gain, or stayed the same, keep going, you will get there, just don’t give up!

1lb loss for me this week, which is ok.

SW 9st 12
CW 9st 11
TW 8st 12

Absolute ice rink on the school run this morning, so I missed my gym class. Never known the paths be so slippery, all the way there! Did some uphill walking on the treadmill instead. Very achey from yesterday’s class so didn’t stay too long.

Lunch will be greek yoghurt, granola, goji berries, flax and chia seeds.
Dinner will be French onion soup and garlic bread, inspired by Clodagh McKenna on yesterday’s This Morning 🙂

LollipopViolet · 25/01/2023 12:14

SW: 15st 13 (from the new scales)
CW: 15st 10
First GW: 14st

Slowly, we will get there.

limerentidiot · 25/01/2023 13:09

I weigh most days otherwise i stress about fluctuations.

Overall SW: 201lb (April 2021)
jan SW: 168lb
CW: 166.8lb
lowest weight this year: 165.6lb

I won’t think of this as having put weight on. It’s just a wiggly line.

ndo4000 · 25/01/2023 13:43

Hi everyone!

SW: 66kg
CW: 65.4kg
TW: 60kg

Have been a bit crap over the last week. I think I saw the scales move and got complacent. Crisps and wine are my weakness it seems......

AutisticLegoLover · 25/01/2023 14:40

I've started collecting the sweets for our holiday and they keep flaunting themselves at me. Bastards.

I've no idea what to do for dinner today. It's the most dreaded question of the day. It's probably going to be pasta.

It's a miserable dreary day here and I need to see some sunshine and for it to be warmer. The school run has lost its appeal after missing it a few weeks ago. It's the hills. They are big.

Roll on bedtime!

Cloudberries123 · 25/01/2023 17:26

I feel just the same AutisticLegoLover 😅 Dreary and didn't want to do the hills. We are doing quick pizza tonight with loaded salad - I'll be having halloumi, green olives, maybe a few capers and chopped tomatoes on mine.

Baby is overtired due to being unwell (again! 😠) and today just needs to end on a good note.

Today -
Breakfast - coffee, brownie bite, 2 egg cups (basically frittata in muffin tray)

Work snack - water, apple

Lunch - tuna sandwich, mocha, protein ball

Dinner - pizza and salad

And only a bit of plain ice cream in the house that might be dessert if baby's bedtime goes badly (brutally honest here).

Well done all WoWers!

greenspaces4peace · 25/01/2023 17:32

still up 149.9
we have leftovers so still a salty issue over here.
i'll be switching out the menu today.
considering it's january i'm doing well on most fronts. some of the deserts from sunday are still hanging around and problematic.

i'll catch up later today. stay focused everyone ;)

Rewis · 25/01/2023 18:53

I'm back bitches! I mean you're all lovely 😅 I was on holiday in Dec right before holidays. Tried to eat well but genuinely the only restaurants around our hotels were burger restaurants. Been a good girl jan and not ordered take away at all. Also started the 12-3-30 treadmill training (12 elevation, 3mi speed, 30min. Although 3mi is too fast so I'll go slower) to get back moving. Also have the odd chocolate bar but have added more vegetarian food, less alcohol etc. And I'm damn bloated and weight has gone up a few hundred grams every week so that's fun.

ImALittlePea · 25/01/2023 19:07

Well done all you WoWers!

I'll update on my inevitable gain when I weigh Friday 😂

Today's download:
Lunch - normal plus some rosemary crispbread things from Aldi
Dinner - was meant to be toad in the hole and veg, them turned into risotto... And we're actually having mini hash browns, sausages, onion rings and beans. Just ran out of time to meaningfully cook 🤷‍♀️

AutisticLegoLover · 25/01/2023 19:33

1267 calories in today. 10.5 miles walked.

Keep going everyone, you can do it!

I'm in a wound up mood tonight and have to meet with people tomorrow that I can't stand. One being my abusive ex-husband. The meeting is totally messing with my usual Thursday caring duties and I'm pissed off about it. I shouldn't have to meet with my abusive ex anyway but the professionals don't see an issue with it 🤬 Tomorrow might be a sugar and fat day. I see jam doughnuts in my future but then why should I let him upset my good work. I might bounce my anger and upset away after the meeting instead.

Aftertheharvest · 25/01/2023 20:22

Another 1lb down from last week but have clearly fluctuated over the week as at the weekend was 2lbs down! Still looking to that under 10 stone target.

@Ninjachicken have you tried the happy scale app, quite good for seeing overall downward trend and keeping motivated!

SW: 146 lbs
CW: 142.25 lbs
GW: 132 lbs

SingaporeSlinky · 25/01/2023 20:23

@AutisticLegoLover I’m sorry that tomorrow will be an awful day, I agree you shouldn’t have to meet with him. But the fact you can identify already that you’ll probably eat the wrong things tomorrow means you still have time to put a plan in place (if you have the head space). Could you try and make a rigid food plan for tomorrow, and channel the anger, like you said, into exercise? Eating crap won’t make you feel better, it’ll just make the day even worse.

@Rewis just googled the 12-3-30 you mentioned as I’d never heard of it. It sounds similar to what I already do on the treadmill, I set the incline to about 10 or 12, speed to 4 or 4.5 (not sure if that’s miles or km though) and do about 20 mins.
Maybe I’ll try that one tomorrow after my class.

Well my onion soup was a success. Very easy, just hadn’t made one before. Next time I might make a much larger batch as it felt like a long time chopping and stirring onions for one meal, even if it did feed the 4 of us 😆

Still feeling very bloated considering I’ve only had 2 meals the last few days.

Ninjachicken · 25/01/2023 20:50

@Aftertheharvest thank you, I will have a look at that app! Well done on the loss 😁
@AutisticLegoLover sending support your way for tomorrow
@SingaporeSlinky your menu sounds great. I copied you and had muesli, yoghurt and chai seeds for lunch. Onion soup is a good one except all the chopping!

had a cookie for my dinner. Going to bed soon so I don’t eat anything else. hoping I will magically lose a kilo overnight.

Cloudberries123 · 25/01/2023 20:52

AutisticLegoLover Can you have something lovely ready and waiting for you when you get back from your unwanted appointments? An episode of a favourite program, a nice warm shower, something to give you a nice 'treat' but that isn't food-related? And prep ahead of time what you'll be eating, so you don't do a me and go cupboard-raiding when you get home stressed.

SingaporeSlinky I made a massive pot of French onion soup once and had to eat it all myself as nobody else in the house wanted to try it! Was delicious but put me off for a while!

Rewis welcome back with a bang! 😁

Hello Aftertheharvest Just keep going, it'll come off sooner or later!

Allthegoodnamestakken · 26/01/2023 07:08

@ginsparkles what a lovely pooch! my pooch is in trouble after waking me up at midnight, thought he needed the toilet as he never bothers me in the night turns out he just decided midnight was the time he desperately needed to dig up his bone 🙄
@Cloudberries123 hope baby is feeling better soon!

I was naughty and got back on the scales today and i've dropped to 65.6kg it really does show just how much weight can fluctuate day to day!
Menu today is
Lunch - overnight oats, fruit salad
Dinner- Chicken stir fry, haven't decided what sauce to make yet but something spicy!

AutisticLegoLover · 26/01/2023 07:13

I don't think I can go. I'm so anxious and tearful at the thought of it.

Rewis · 26/01/2023 07:38

@SingaporeSlinky I'd guess yours is in km if you're walking. Or you're a very fast walker! I can't do the 4.8km/3mi yet for the full 30min so I'll try to add a minute more every time. Depending on the day I change between 3-4.8km. It's nit really a proplgramme. More like a viral tiktok video. But figured that it at least gets me moving and incline is good for the butt. Then some core afterwards. I have lost a bit of my exercising mojo. They stopped my fave group exercise and I've moved so the new local gym is super busy and that's demotivating. Once the snow and ice is gone I can cycle to a quieter gym to do some other exercise! So treadmill it is!

Allthegoodnamestakken · 26/01/2023 07:48

@AutisticLegoLover sending hugs, it sounds like a horrible situation. I hope you find the strength to get through. And I also think you will very much have earnt the Jam doughnut afterwards

Ninjachicken · 26/01/2023 07:51

I got back on the scales this morning. I couldn’t help myself. Very light day yesterday. 66.2kg this morning so 800g difference to yesterday. It has made me feel better. Crazy that you can be nearly a kilo up or down in one day. Thank you to everyone for their kind comments. I am off work for a few days now so am going to meal plan and shop today. Though I am out for lunch so will try and pick a healthy option and have a light dinner.
@ginsparkles love your doggy. I have two and work from home so they are my constant companions.
@Cloudberries123 hope your baby is on the mend.
@AutisticLegoLover i really feel for you. Sorry I don’t have anything practical to offer but sending lots of support your way. You are stronger than you think I promise you
@Allthegoodnamestakken congratulations on the drop!

ginsparkles · 26/01/2023 08:04

Thank you @Allthegoodnamestakken and @Ninjachicken ! She's lovely. She sort of healed us after we lost our 15 year old collie. It's taken time but she's really starting to settle in now.

Yesterday was a tough one, I had something very hard to do at work, emotional hard, so I found comfort in all the wrong things. But I'm going to focus on being kind to myself and will keep on going!

Not much of a plan for today which is dangerous! Will update later! Have a good day

AutisticLegoLover · 26/01/2023 08:09

Thank you for the kind words. I'm on the edge of bursting into tears which isn't like me at all. I've not had to face him for weeks and I feel sick at the prospect. Seeing him makes me feel sick. He always looks so dirty and grubby and unhealthy now and it turns my stomach. Not that he was a looker to start with but now 🤢

ImALittlePea · 26/01/2023 09:04

I hope little one is a bit better this morning @Cloudberries123

Sending strength and kindness your way @AutisticLegoLover

Basic day over here. Play group with toddler this morning, and then before you know it, it's the after school mad rush which we can't seem to avoid of an evening at the moment. Just cooking dinner, getting eldest to do reading, clubs, bath etc just feel like a slog at the moment. Going to try and prep as much of dinner as I can pre pick up time to try and lessen the stress factor 😬🤞

Lunch - cup-a-soup, veggies, dairylea triangle and two rosemary crispbreads
Dinner - bacon, pea, pepper and pesto risotto with a side of greens. DH and kids will have garlic bread but I'm going to refrain.

buzzofthebumblebee · 26/01/2023 09:07

Sending you warm wishes @AutisticLegoLover . Deep breath and face your day, whether seeing him or not. If you do, you will have done it. Whichever, donughts and sugary food won't make you feel any better, truly. The initial taste euphoria and sugar rush will wear off and you will feel full, bloated, with a big sugar crash to follow. Flowers

Absolutely love your doggy @ginsparkles . Well done for a tough day yesterday. Hope you have a better day today.

Extra losses this week @Ninjachicken & @Allthegoodnamestakken - Same here! Maybe we should have WOT (weigh on thursday) instead?

'll bank my loss and hope I maintain this for end-of-month weigh in.

Hope you have a productive day & few days off work Ninja.

I'm just back from an 8km run. Was slower than usual, but kept on plodding. Calories yesterday about 1350. Hoping for the same today:

B - yoghurt, blueberries and seeds
L - poached eggs & spinach on slice seeded rye
D - chicken & veg - possibly with pesto wholewheat pasta.
S - apple slices with spoon peanut butter

Hope you are OK @TheRealHousewife .

Positive NO SNACKING vibes to everyone !

SingaporeSlinky · 26/01/2023 11:10

@Rewis I tried the treadmill thing this morning, yes I think my gym’s treadmill must be in km because 3 was fairly slow. So I did 12 incline, 4.8 pace which did get me out of breath. I only managed 10 minutes, although to be fair I’d just done a 30 min class. Plus I was kinda bored. This is my problem when I’m left to my own devices, I need classes so someone is pushing me.

Does anyone have any bright ideas for how to eat or drink something healthy that feels ‘comforting’? There seems to be a common theme for us all that when we’re tired, unhappy, or emotional we reach for chocolate or similar. I know I do. I came home from the gym this morning exhausted and my first thought was I’ll sneak into my leftover Christmas guylian seashell stash. I had to catch myself, and made a sugary coffee instead, which I think has done the trick. But I genuinely don’t know what else would work. Having a piece of fruit just wouldn’t hit the spot, iykwim.

So I’ve reached 10,000 steps already today. That’s walking to school, then walking to gym about 20 mins away, then 30 min class, 10 mins treadmill walking, 20 min walk home. Supposedly burned 1092 cals so far, but I’m very sceptical of that and never ‘eat back’ exercise calories.

Anyway I’m waffling! Have a good day everyone and have an extra glass of water!
