10st plus to lose - part 2

ShinyPikachu · 22/11/2022 22:53

A really unimaginative title but the old thread is almost full and we don't want to lose people who have joined us already.

Anyone else with a large amount to lose is more than welcome to join us, we're a friendly bunch and whatever way you're trying, that doesn't matter to us. It's about the results and more importantly the support.

Congratulations @Echoes89! that’s really inspiring 😊

I'm going to join you all if that is okay?

I have around 11 stone to lose. I want to concentrate on being active and making better food choices rather than calories as I had very disordered eating as a teen and it tends to rear its head again whenever I try to lose weight. I was underweight throughout my teens and early twenties but piled on weight when I met the kid's Dad who was a feeder and have struggled with cycles of extreme restriction followed by extreme binging ever since.

If I try to count calories I know I will go from eating a healthy 12-1500 calories a day to challenging myself to see how long I can live on 400 calories a day for until I physically cannot do it anymore and eat the entire contents of the kitchen in the space of three hours.

The only goal I have set for myself so far is to weigh myself weekly, do 10,000 steps a day and try not to fall into the habit of extreme restriction.

I didn't manage my steps today. I'm on 12-hour night shifts this week which makes it harder but I did increase my steps from my usual 600/700 steps per night shift to 3000.

I am determined to walk the dog when I finish work to up tomorrow's steps.

RE: tracking apps, I usually use NutraCheck when I am calorie counting and find it simple and easy to use with a really good database of foods. I much prefer it over My Fitness Pal.

Welcome @Frequency

I'm sorry you've been through so much but your plan sounds like a good one and if there's anything we can do to help then we're here.

I've had another sneaky weigh in this morning again and I'm down even more, 3.3lb total since Monday. I just need to hope the weekend doesn't ruin it for me but I don't have any plans so fingers crossed. Smile

I had a sneaky weigh in this morning, yesterday and the day before and still haven’t lost any bloody weight. I know why and I’m pissed off with myself. I could have eaten less and then lost weight. I so cannot be bloody bothered with this. But I need to lose 57kg to get to under 35 bmi, as I want to have a child or two by myself and need to get under 35 bmi to do ivf. That’s my ultimate goal.

Lashestoashes · 12/01/2023 22:32

I’ve eaten badly today, had the most horrendous day! I really would like to not emotionally eat but it’s harder said than done. A fresh day tomorrow.

ShinyPikachu · 12/01/2023 23:17

Hugs all around for those that need them.

I didn't track today but I should still be under, I've only had two meals today and no snacks at all. I wish every period was like this, I normally get raging ones that make me eat everything in a three mile radius, but this one has just totally zapped my appetite for some reason.

fidgetcube · 13/01/2023 12:35

Bit cheerier today as I’ve actually lost weight. Did not expect too, but I’ve lost 0.6kg (1lb ish). Woo, go me.

WeirdPookah · 13/01/2023 12:59

I lost 4lbs this week, still recovering from flu before christmas, my appetite has started to return which is going to be an additional challenge. Lunch today was a bit higher calorie to use up something left over from christmas.

I'm still the heaviest I have been since 2009.

DuckWithOneWing · 13/01/2023 13:31

Welcome new people!

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone. I've got back on track so hopefully this will be ok overall. The problem with having a January birthday is it's so close to Christmas when I've already gone off plan so I feel bad about running my diet so early in the year.

Sunshineandrainbow · 14/01/2023 09:21

First weigh in since Nov and have put on 5 lbs :(

Feeling so annoyed.
Any tips to get me Back on track please.
Start weight 18.9
Current weight 18. 6

Sunshineandrainbow · 14/01/2023 09:24

@Echoes89 you are doing amazing. What do you tend to have for your two meals and what time do you have them? Thanks

Echoes89 · 14/01/2023 10:51

@Sunshineandrainbow thank you, don't beat yourself up about putting on weight over Christmas, everyone does it
My meals vary tbh, if I know I'm having a big meal/takeaway in the evening I'll have a slimfast shake
This week I've avoided takeaways, so I've been getting healthy ready meals between 350-450 calories and adding extra veg to them to bulk them out then having fruit for dessert, I've got a thing for red grapes at the moment or a KitKat or chocolate yoghurt which is around 100 calories. I eat 12-1pm then 5-6pm. I can't stand feeling hungry so I bulk up the meals with veg and have the fruit straight after the meal to try to make sure I don't get the munchies later (doesn't always work)
Out for drinks and food tonight, so I've booked a restaurant with some healthier choices so 600-700 calories to try stay away from burgers 😂 just praying the drinking doesn't screw up any of my weight loss this week, we'll have to wait and see
Hope everyone has a good weekend, stay upbeat. We'll hit our goals eventually, even if it takes a little while

Sunshineandrainbow · 14/01/2023 11:25

Thanks @Echoes89 that's really helpful about the ready Meals I had not thought of that! I am going to give that a try with extra veg this week.
Do you use the M and S count on us ones? I could go there tonight.
Going to get fresh veg to cut into crudités for the evenings.
Enjoy your meal tonight and socialising.

Echoes89 · 14/01/2023 13:00

@Sunshineandrainbow yes I had a few of those this week, the Thai Currys, stroganoff and mushroom and chicken linguini were nice, they're not huge portions but pretty filling with a little extra veg.
I was feeling lazy this week, so I thought if I got ready meals I'd be more inclined to stick to it, they're more expensive but if I buy one less takeaway that basically pays for them. Well that's my theory anyway 😂

Towntroubadour · 14/01/2023 14:06

I’ve been using Nutracheck which is working well. I hadn’t really realised quite how many calories in snacks I’ve been consuming. So I need to knock snacking on the head. Been walking a lot this week and getting in my 10,000 steps, need to drink more water but feel I’m thinking more about making better choices. Last night we had takeaway and I was add to account for it with my calories rather than just going and eating loads.

CW: 16’10
GW: 10 stone

DuckWithOneWing · 15/01/2023 16:05

I had a Weight Watchers ready meal this week which was really disappointing. It was supposed to be a cauliflower curry but it was just bland and was mostly cauliflower stalks. It was on offer, but even then I wouldn't recommend it!

I buy a lot of ready meals because they're easier to take to work. I don't just stick to the healthy ranges. There are loads in the "normal" ranges that are actually low calorie. You do have to check each time though, as some ready meals are ridiculous. I do quite like the Young's fish pie frozen ones or Kirsty's (these tend to be in the free from/vegan section). I also have them with veg - I tend to do a Birds Eye steam fresh bag or similar.

ShinyPikachu · 16/01/2023 20:30

Well despite an unexpectedly mad weekend and going out I've managed to lose 1.1lb this week. I know I had lost more and the weekend ruined a bit of that but I had fun at least. We have to remember to still enjoy ourselves! We had a lovely meal out and I even had dessert (which I NEVER do, even when I'm not calorie counting) and so much wine I'm glad I didn't track it, I was definitely a bit hungover yesterday morning.

Back to tracking today and I've even done a bit of meal planning this week, I still have to work out the calories for it but if I know how many I'm having at dinner it'll be easier to plan breakfasts and lunches each day too.

Sunshineandrainbow · 17/01/2023 09:22

Wow shiny that's amazing another 1pound gone!
Thanks both for the ready meal ideas.
I got a frozen fish pie to keep in the freezer and going to explore the ranges at some other shops, seems such a good idea for me as I cook dds dinner (I prefer vege she prefers meat!) and then can't really be bothered for me and that's when I snack badly or have beans on toast.

Lunch was nice yesterday, I had crudités, Humous, beetroot and half a tin of tuna, it tasted so fresh really enjoyed it.

WildImaginings · 17/01/2023 12:13

Hope it's ok to join you all. I'm on a Caribbean cruise in just over 2 months and I've had to confront the fact that none of my nice summer clothes fit me.
Lost a couple of stone last year (for another holiday) by eating sensible portions and calorie counting and have now put it all back on. I'm the heaviest I've been in a very long time and I need to confront this head on.

I lost around 5 stone on slimming world 5 years ago (all now gained!) but this time I want to try and stick to calorie counting. I'm using MFP and have set it for a 2lb a week loss, but know from experience I can potentially lose a bit more than that some weeks by adding in some light exercise.
I'm also doing 16:8 as this generally fits in with my normal eating patterns anyway.

Realistically I do need to lose over 10 stone but for now I am setting my goal at around a 5 stone loss.

Current weight- 20.9 stone (as of last week)
Goal weight- 15 stone
Interim goal weight (by 20th March) - 18.7 stone

fidgetcube · 17/01/2023 12:25

Welcome @WildImaginings im also doing 16:8. Started jan 1st.

I had a sneaky weigh in this morning and I’ve lost another 600g. Not official till Friday though, I’m hoping to lose another 1 or 2kg by next Friday as I’m going skiing then.

WildImaginings · 17/01/2023 22:59

Well done @fidgetcube that's great!

DuckWithOneWing · 18/01/2023 09:30

I'VE DONE IT! I'M IN THE 14 STONE BRACKET! I spent yesterday visualising standing on the scales and them saying 14 13.5, and then this morning they did! I'm really happy because this seemed so far off and impossible a year ago.

Welcome @WildImaginings !

fidgetcube · 18/01/2023 09:44

@DuckWithOneWing WOOO, go you. That’s amazing.

WildImaginings · 18/01/2023 10:37

Well done @DuckWithOneWing that's brilliant!

Weighed this morning and I've lost 5lb, I'm so pleased with that. I know I won't lose that every week but I was hoping for a strong start to give me extra motivation and this definitely has!

Starting weight- 20.9
Current weight- 20.4
Goal weight- 15 stone
Interim goal (by 20th March)- 18.7
