10st plus to lose - part 2

A really unimaginative title but the old thread is almost full and we don't want to lose people who have joined us already.

Anyone else with a large amount to lose is more than welcome to join us, we're a friendly bunch and whatever way you're trying, that doesn't matter to us. It's about the results and more importantly the support.

I’ve been tracking my food in nutracheck today. The choices weren’t all that great as I’m away for a bit and was visiting someone for lunch today but i guessed and logged it anyway

RedSnail · 28/12/2022 21:20

Came in under on the calories today 😁

ShinyPikachu · 29/12/2022 09:25

Well done @RedSnail

I haven't started tracking again yet but I've been more careful with my choices at least.

I got a soup maker for Christmas so I can't wait to use it, soup is something I love eating but hate making, I prefer smooth soups and I always make such a mess with the blender so I'm excited to have just one thing to clean up after making soup. It should help me up my veggies too.

I finally decided to weigh in to see my Christmas damage. 2.4lb gain. Could have been much worse as I actually made myself sick with how much sugar and fatty foods I was eating as I'm just not used to them now.

Our plans for New Year have fallen through so DH and I are thinking just a few quiet drinks at home instead now so I can keep an eye on calories still, even if I won't be tracking them. We aren't big NY people anyway so there was definitely some relief when things got cancelled.

Despite the Christmas gain I'm still 2.3lb down overall so I might not bother with a fresh start then.

Yesterday I came in green on calories and all other macros so trying to get another green tick today.

I also like eating but not making soup. I have some cans of cream of chicken soup in the cupboard to use up before I think about making any though. Do you have recipes you plan to try too?

Sorry about your NY plans but a quiet night in is my preference too. Might get some drinks and snacks in but I only usually have 1 drink as not a massive fan.

Cant weigh myself till next week so no idea what my Christmas damage is and hoping I might be down by the time I weigh.

ShinyPikachu · 29/12/2022 21:40

I don't have any recipes yet but there are a few in the instruction booklet I can try. It looks like I should be able to do any soup I want from other recipes as long as I don't go over the maximum volume on it as well so I'm going to look through all my books to see. If all else fails, couple of carrots and potatoes and a handful of lentils never goes wrong!

Weirdly I find I snack less when I'm drinking (I know it's the opposite for most people) but I like wine and I don't like the taste of most snacks alongside it. I might get some crackers and cheese in for a treat though but I won't go crazy.

Under again on calories today (only just, 5 left), though over on fat and carbs and under on fibre and protein.

That slice of Colin the caterpillar cake was delicious though.

RedSnail · 30/12/2022 23:33

Just under on calories today, and only macro I was over on was carbs. Having the 31st off ready to start again on the 1st

ShinyPikachu · 31/12/2022 21:52

Hope everyone has a good new year, I hope 2023 brings lots of weight losses for us all. Smile

I have been on this thread before, who knows what name i was under though lol cos i do not.

Im trying noom this time as well as intermittant fasting. I hate calorie counting, it stresses me out, so im trying something else.

I have a rough idea of how heavy i am, last time i weighed in october i was about 156kg, so i think i at least 160kg now, but who knows. im weighing myself on friday, as that the first oppurtunity ill have to go to the gym and use their fancy scales.

i started in june 2021 at 176kg. so i had lost over 20kg. Ultimately i want to get under 100kg and under 35 bmi, so I can do ivf and have a child on my own (smbc) hence the ivf. so i have motivation, i just need discipline.

RedSnail · 01/01/2023 20:14

I counted calories yesterday (bit over but not too bad) and today (just under calories), will weigh in tomorrow as was away this morning. Don’t think there’s any Christmas damage though, think I’ll be down a bit.

ShinyPikachu · 01/01/2023 21:22

Welcome back @fidgetcube

Fingers crossed for your weigh in @RedSnail

I've not started counting calories quite yet, too many snacks in the house for me to want to know the damage. Plus we had our traditional steak pie for New Years Day dinner and I wanted to fully enjoy it.

We still have a lot of crackers and cheese in the house so I'm going to enjoy that tonight and since tomorrow is Monday which has been my weigh in day that's a good day to start sticking to things again. DH is back at work again tomorrow too which helps me as we'll have more of a household routine again.

Down 5 pounds this week 😁 gets me the half a stone award (started 9th December). I did gain the previous week so really I’m about the same as 2 weeks ago but happy with that given Christmas.

Jumbocoffee · 02/01/2023 11:19

Horrified result from the scales. I’m lucky to not have slipped into the 17 stone bracket but am not far off. Have started login calories to get back into the swing of things as I need to make this year, the year I shift the weight.

ShinyPikachu · 02/01/2023 11:31

Well done @RedSnail

Sorry about the gain @Jumbocoffee but I'm with you on it being THIS year I have to do it.

I've lost 1.5lb without trying or tracking this week. Considering I think I've eaten my body weight in cheese I'm happy with that.

Tracking starts again today. 🤞

Well done @ShinyPikachu and good luck for this week, well done on logging

@Jumbocoffee weighing and facing up to it is the important part, then you can make changes. I’m in the 19 stone bracket but one more pound and I’ll be down to the 18s

Jumbocoffee · 02/01/2023 13:13

Thanks both. I think facing up to it is the main thing. I’ve bought Nutracheck and have started tracking my food. I’ll be back walking the dog when the kids are back at school. I’m 40 now so I really need to shift the weight. Good luck to everyone - I’m raising my third big glass of water to you all.

DuckWithOneWing · 02/01/2023 16:30

Hi everyone! I've started back on it again, but haven't weighed myself because I know that the first weigh-in will be horrific so I don't want to scare myself. I'll see how I am next week and will use that to judge if I met my goal! I don't think I've done too badly but I can never tell.

ShinyPikachu · 02/01/2023 16:44

You can do it @DuckWithOneWing Smile

I keep eating things and forgetting to track them so I've had to guess on amounts of butter and ketchup with different things today but it's at least getting me into the habit of tracking everything again.

OP posts:
ShinyPikachu · 03/01/2023 11:16

I managed to track all day, I tried to over-estimate on the things I had to guess at afterwards but looks like I came in around my daily calories yesterday. I think that's my plan for the week, just to track everything and try to keep it around that level but even if I go over I'll keep on tracking so I get back into the habit, and it'll help me remember to weigh and track things before I eat them.

Lashestoashes · 03/01/2023 12:14

Hi all,

Can I please join in? My weight has really sky rocketed over the last few years, I did manage to lose three stone for my wedding in 2021 but it’s since all piled back on and some!

SW/CW 19st 10lbs
GW 14st 10lbs (more of an interim goal)

We really want to have a baby but I know I am too overweight and it will be difficult so this is the main motivation. Husband and I are doing slim fast to kick start and we started today.

ShinyPikachu · 03/01/2023 12:31

Welcome @Lashestoashes and good luck with TTC as well as your weight loss. Smile

@ShinyPikachu thank you! 😊 hoping this thread will keep me on track!

fidgetcube · 03/01/2023 20:12

3rd day of 16:8 fasting. felt really sick this morning but not sure if thats because of the fasting or was just me, who knows. apart from this morning i feel fine.

weighing in tomorrow. i think ive put on 3kg since mid october. which is okay i guess. i weighed mysef before a shower this evening and iwas 159.5kg. so if those scales arent wildy out then im happy as im not above 160kg. which i was convinced i was.

ShinyPikachu · 03/01/2023 21:17

I'm likely to be over a bit today but I enjoyed some crackers and cheese for lunch and a fry up for my dinner. I'm trying to track my sugar too as I don't tend to add it to much other than a teaspoon on cereal or porridge now and again so it's interesting to see how much is actually in other things. But I had a can of Coke today so I've gone right over on sugar for today too. Blush

We've used up all the fruit and veg we had in the house for Christmas so I desperately need to go shopping as that'll help me out with my meals as I do like to fill up on veggies before eating anything else on my dinner plate.

OP posts:
Lashestoashes · 03/01/2023 21:55

We ended up having cheese and crackers for dinner rather than a slim fast meal - it just seemed too wasteful as they’d have to be binned otherwise. Managed to drink 2 litres today though so on track with that! Everything else in the house now is either diet friendly or packaged with long expiry dates so just gonna take it all day by day.
