10st plus to lose - part 2

ShinyPikachu · 22/11/2022 22:53

A really unimaginative title but the old thread is almost full and we don't want to lose people who have joined us already.

Anyone else with a large amount to lose is more than welcome to join us, we're a friendly bunch and whatever way you're trying, that doesn't matter to us. It's about the results and more importantly the support.

That's really good going @Sammysees

ShinyPikachu · 15/04/2024 07:23

Feels good to be back to normal today. We ended up going away last minute for the Easter holidays and I was worried I would have gained a lot but I guess because we did a lot more walking (which is definitely catching up with me now so this week might be a lazier week) I was fine. I didn't see the point in calorie counting but I did try to make good choices at least.

Well I've lost 2.5lb in the last fortnight. I'm very happy with that. And I'm down the big number again.

SW: 19st 11.6lb
CW: 18st 12.5lb
Loss: 13.1lb

So my plan for this week is to get back to counting now we're getting back to a routine, especially since I think I need to really rest my body this week.

@ShinyPikachu that's fantastic, you must have made really good choices.

Have a great week.

Sammysees · 15/04/2024 18:18

That’s brilliant @ShinyPikachu

DuckWithOneWing · 18/04/2024 12:49

I'm back from my holiday now. We put my late parrot's name on a lifeboat so went to the unveiling ceremony for that, then spent a few days by the sea. We did a lot of walking - I even climbed to the top of Corfe Castle! I did have fish and chips but it was too cold for ice cream. Have started back on my diet today but I don't think I went too far off track anyway.

@Sammysees you're doing great!

@ShinyPikachu I'm amazed you managed to lose even while on holiday. Hope you're getting back into your routine by now.

JumpingIntoLCHF · 20/04/2024 08:00

Just saw a link to this on another thread. Can I join you?

I lose weight with low carb but am at my heaviest ever and need to take this seriously.

DuckWithOneWing · 20/04/2024 12:40

Yes definitely @JumpingIntoLCHF As long as you've got (or had) a lot to lose you're welcome here! Some of us have more than 10 stone to lose, some have slightly less, and we're all using different methods. I'm just doing calorie counting.

I went for a run on Thursday. I missed one because I didn't go during my holiday, but I found it loads easier than expected. I'm should be going out for another run later today too.

Sammysees · 21/04/2024 05:46

End of week 5
SW - 295lbs
CW - 283lbs
It’s a good start albeit slower than I want. But it’s going down and that’s the important thing. I’m finding losing weight is so much harder in my 50’s than my 30’s or 40’s.
How is everyone else getting on?

DuckWithOneWing · 21/04/2024 18:37

You're doing great @Sammysees that's nearly a stone!

I did go for my run yesterday and it went fine. I've increased my minimum daily step count to 6000 as I realised I was doing that most days anyway. Some days I've gone over 10,000 which is a lot more than I used to get.

Sammysees · 21/04/2024 18:53

Wow! I can’t run to save my life so I’m in awe. Small changes have a big impact. I have a couple of days off work so I’m going to menu plan, shop and batch cook. Tonight I am going to find some low calorie recipes to cook. I find I do so much better when I plan.

DuckWithOneWing · 22/04/2024 10:08

My scales are still broken, so my weigh in this morning was confusing. I have lost 1.4kg over 2 weeks but I can't figure out the conversion to know what my actual weight is. I am pleased though, as I didn't expect a big loss after going away!

I feel like "running" might slightly overstate what I do. I'm doing the Couch to 5k programme, and have just finished week 2. It's a mix of walking and running where you gradually start running more each week until you're running non stop. Last week was running for 90 seconds at a time.

I do love this recipe for courgette, sweet potato and tofu soup. I'm not vegan but it's really good and it's also quick and easy to make.

Sweet potato and courgette soup with ginger and basil

This soup recipe is really simple, you only need a few ingredients and can get all of them in the supermarket. Perfect for when you need some nourishing and healthy food.

Hello 👋 i need to lose a ridiculous amount of weight and glad i found you. I'm 55 and have struggled with weight all my life. I've had periods of being slim and attractive and look at photos thinking is that me under all this fat? I've been looking after ill and dying (now dead) parents for many years and about to make a very big and positive house move. It feels like there's finally room and time to concentrate on me. I'm vegetarian and eat an insane amount of cheese and butter and basically anything else that takes my fancy. It feels like a very immature and rebellious part of me is saying 'fuck you, I'll eat what I want when I want' but i don't even know who I'm saying it to anymore! Anyway, I'm tired of excuses and chucking all the crap out of the house right now. I'm about 18.10st and short so, long long way to go.

Sammysees · 24/04/2024 20:52

Welcome to you @Neveralonewithaclone . We all have large amounts of weight to lose so you are in the right place. It’s tough going but I think we can all do it with each other’s support. Do you have a plan? I am calorie counting with help from Wegovy. It’s not been as easy as I’d hoped.

DuckWithOneWing · 25/04/2024 10:23

Hi @Neveralonewithaclone welcome to the thread! We all have a long way to go - or have come a long way - so you're in the right place. How was yesterday? I do love cheese too so know how that feels. I've started to have a Babybel Light most days as they're lovely and low calorie but I hate the feel of the wax layer.

You are doing great @Sammysees

Neveralonewithaclone · 26/04/2024 06:52

Hello, thank you for the welcome 😁

I'm following old rules from Rosemary Conley in the late 80s which worked well for me and I kept weight off for several years. So, low fat, portion control, lots of vegetables and totally lay off the cheese and other crap.

I think what has also helped is that I've had some really horrible and stressful things going on in my life that are finally finally over. And now that they're over i want to live as long as possible enjoying the fact that it's all behind me. Kind of finally thinking 'I'm worth it'.

18½ today down from 18¾.

Sunshineandrainbow · 26/04/2024 08:49

Welcome to the thread.
Like others have said we are all in the same boat and have lots to lose.
My biggest problem is binging and secret eating. I have recently confessed this to a close friend and actually feel better for talking about it.

I am going to London today and my daughter will want to go to Paul's the bakery. Arrgghh. I will see how I feel once there.

PreesHeath · 26/04/2024 09:15

Hello all, I'm back in the saddle so to speak but have done quite a lot of damage in a short time. Feeling very disappointed in myself, and my revised target of being merely overweight by my birthday is looking less and less likely. Well done to everyone keeping going. I am now back to my end of January weight, so I managed to wipe out three months work in 2-3 weeks! It's obviously demoralising, but I need to pick myself up, dust myself off and start all over again as the song goes. The alternative is giving up - and I can't do that.

Sunshineandrainbow · 26/04/2024 10:05

Well down @PreesHeath hopefully you will have a good loss in the first week to spure you on.

@ShinyPikachu we are nearly at max number of posts on the thread, are you happy to create a new one?
Be quite nice to have a shiny new start!

ShinyPikachu · 26/04/2024 13:19

Welcome to those joining us!

I'll go get a new thread started now before I forget.

I had a small loss this week but I also had an event this weekend and I've just seen the photos that were taken. I felt quite good when looking in the mirror before I left the house but I can't stand the photos. I look so much bigger than I even had in my head (and I'm not very kind to myself there). It's the extra kick up the bum I need I think though.

Part Three. Not very imaginatively named but it does what it says on the tin.
