10st plus to lose - part 2

A really unimaginative title but the old thread is almost full and we don't want to lose people who have joined us already.

Anyone else with a large amount to lose is more than welcome to join us, we're a friendly bunch and whatever way you're trying, that doesn't matter to us. It's about the results and more importantly the support.

Well today I have post takeaway guilt 😂 feeling particularly lazy today, I'm gonna try 4x slimfast milkshakes a day for a few days and see if I can stick to it, comes to just under 1000 calories, thinking if I shift a decent amount of weight I may add it into my week for a couple of days a week. We shall see how it goes, wish me luck 😂

WildImaginings · 19/01/2023 18:07

Good luck @Echoes89

My body needs to get used to the smaller portions and less snacks. I have been eating SO much crap throughout the day that my stomach is now wondering what's going on!

DuckWithOneWing · 20/01/2023 07:49

Well we had had to put a new battery in the scales and today they said I'm 14st 13 so I'm even happier!

SW: 22 10
CW: 14 13
Goal: 14 is my next interim goal. I don't know what my final goal is - 10st 7 sounds good but I'll decide when I get nearer!

@Echoes89 how is it going? Doing just shakes sounds hard as I'd miss real food but I know it works for some people. And at this time of year Slimfast seems to be on offer everywhere so that will help too!

@WildImaginings can you snack on healthier options? I love crisps, so I buy things like pom bears as they come in smaller packets and are about 70kcal. Freddos are good too. Actually, my favourite snack is melted babybel - you put one in the microwave for about 20 seconds, and if you get babybel light they're 42kcals each!

WildImaginings · 20/01/2023 12:28

Well done @DuckWithOneWing that's amazing. You were almost the exact starting weight that I was when I weighed last week, so it's really motivating to see the progress you have made!

Yes the lower calorie snacks is what I've been doing. Low cal crisps, red pepper and a little pot of houmous, cottage cheese etc. It just takes some getting used to when I've been eating countless pastries as 'snacks' 😂

Oh I love melted cheese (cheese in general to be honest!)

fidgetcube · 20/01/2023 12:53

@WildImaginings

have you tried pop chips (the brand) or popped chips (non branded), you can get them in pretty much every supermarket, I think. I get pop chips from tesco and popped chips from markies. They’re like 25-50p more expensive per 6 pack than normal walkers but they’re good. That’s all I eat now.

fidgetcube · 20/01/2023 12:55

Sorry for double post, but I’ve lost 900g so like 2lbs. The gym scale machine thing was down, so based on my own scales. But yay. I’m now 800g off my lowest ever weight, from July (154.7kg). Go me.

DuckWithOneWing · 20/01/2023 14:44

@fidgetcube I tried pop chips but my parrot doesn't like them so I don't tend to buy them. I don't understand kg but 2lbs is amazing! Well done

Thank you. Also your parrot? That’s pretty cool, I love the idea of parrots, but birds in real life freak me out a bit lol.

WeirdPookah · 20/01/2023 19:21

I've had a terrible week, had no sleep 3 nights in a row as we heard noises in the floor, crying children scared of the noise, assumed we had mice, which was super stressful, then we took up the floorboards and found.... A HAMSTER!!

So we now have a pet hamster! We called her Ghost since she scared the crap out of us all.

So been hungry and tired, then missed a meal since had a late kids party and ended up eating toast and peanut butter instead of a healthy dinner, breakfast today was rushed bowl of cereal after the late nights caught up and we got up late, so ended up eating toast and eggs after rushing car to garage strait after school run and being so flipping cold. Evening snacks another night and just eaten too much in general this week.

DuckWithOneWing · 20/01/2023 20:05

I was in Poundland (Pep&Co) and they had a dress I liked, but the largest they had was size medium. So I bought it, and it fits! I really don't think I am a medium, but there we go.

@fidgetcube I have 2 parrots. One is a conure, which is a small green nuisance. He follows me around constantly so if I have any food or drink he wants to share. Today I was trying a new drink, sparkling water with lemon and yuzu (I don't know what Yuzu is) and my parrot had to try it first. My other parrot is a lot bigger but doesn't like me. She was abused by her previous female owner so she is terrified of women.

@WeirdPookah At least you've rescued the hamster and will give it a good life now. Last year, we rescued a hamster that a neighbour was storing in their garage as it was being neglected. We found her a new home, though, as we couldn't have her and the parrots.
It's really hard to eat well if you have no sleep so just try to make the best choices you can and get back onto it asap.

fidgetcube · 20/01/2023 20:10

@DuckWithOneWing thats a lovely dress and yay for fitting in it.

also conures are precious and that’s adorable. Aw no your poor other parrot, I’m glad she has a good home now though.

WildImaginings · 20/01/2023 22:31

@fidgetcube I'd forgotten about pop chips! Love them, they're going on the shopping list. Thanks for the reminder 😊

Sunshineandrainbow · 21/01/2023 15:33

Let me know how it goes? I have about 50 exante shakes I have never even tried one!!!?

WildImaginings · 21/01/2023 19:50

Indian takeaway tonight but I knew I'd be having Indian so have been banking some calories through the week. Might not work for everyone but I know from past experience it works for me.

I've ordered the starter I want and the main I want but have resisted the temptation to get a naan!

Really looking forward to this meal, and I'll still be within my weekly calories. I know I enjoy a meal like this so much more when it's an actual treat!

DuckWithOneWing · 21/01/2023 20:17

I went on the TFL treasure hunt to celebrate the Tube's 160th birthday so I did so much walking today. Well, only about 17,000 which I know isn't much to some people but I'm disabled and my daily goal is 5000. So now I'm drinking wine because I must've burnt about a million calories today.

WildImaginings · 21/01/2023 21:31

Enjoy the wine @DuckWithOneWing you deserve it after all of those steps!

Indian takeaway eaten and within my 8 hour window. Really enjoyed it, didn't overload my plate and my leftovers are going in the freezer rather than me eating them tomorrow!

ShinyPikachu · 23/01/2023 08:39

Welcome @WildImaginings and well done on your first loss!

Well done @fidgetcube @Sunshineandrainbow and @DuckWithOneWing - loving the dress Duck!

Good luck @Echoes89

Hugs @WeirdPookah but congrats on the new hamster, certainly not what I would have expected to find!

I hope you enjoyed the wine Duck - I had a good bit this weekend too. I suffered for it yesterday though.

We went all out on Saturday night with a chippy AND drinks. I'm not a big eater in one go though so I got a single fish and it was so big I barely managed half and reheated the other half for my lunch yesterday (and still couldn't finish it).

My appetite has been awful still though, some days I'm struggling to eat anything. Friday's food consisted of two slices of buttery toast and a Pot Noodle and I only had the toast around 3pm after realising I hadn't eaten yet. There was wine then too though so that definitely added calories for the day then. Blush

I've lost 2.1lb this week so I think my lack of appetite helped, I didn't track just because I knew I wasn't eating that much and I was more concerned with just trying to remember to eat.

That puts me at 8.5lb off total though, so that's me over my first half a stone, and I'm just 3.2lb away from a new stone bracket so I'm hoping I can manage that in the next week or two.

Start: 19st 11.6lb
Current: 19st 3.1lb
Loss: 8.5lb

WildImaginings · 23/01/2023 09:33

Well done @ShinyPikachu so close to the next stone bracket!

Another 2lb off here which I'm chuffed with. My weigh ins likely won't be exactly every week, possibly more like every 5 days- the very accurate scales are at my nans house and as I'm not here every day I need to take the opportunity when I can!

Starting weight: 20.9
Current weight: 20.2
Goal weight: 15
Interim goal weight (by 20/03): 18.7

Lashestoashes · 23/01/2023 22:15

Hope you’re all doing well! I managed to lose 2.5lbs last week but think it was a fluke! Have had an utterly horrendous week though so think I will have gained that back when I weigh in tomorrow!

gonna take it on the chin and not let it dictate the week.

WildImaginings · 24/01/2023 00:07

Don't beat yourself up if there's a gain @Lashestoashes we all have weeks like that. New week and hopefully a better one for you.

To say work today was crap would be an understatement and it's only going to get worse over the next month. Going to have to try my best to keep this positive mindset going as my usual go to in this situation would be wine and lots (and lots) of food. It's difficult not to slip into old habits when the clock hits 5 after a terrible workday but I'm just trying to keep the end goal in sight.

WeirdPookah · 24/01/2023 12:55

Well yesterday was better.

I filled the slow cooker and made 10 dinners worth of lentil bolognaise. Then whilst the kitchen was a bomb site of vegetable bits, I made a huge pot of very vegetable heavy minestrone, which we had with quorn bits and a sensible amount of pesto, made lots so my husband and I finished it for lunch today.

I had an orange and 2 very small satsumas for snack last night.

WildImaginings · 24/01/2023 15:12

Sounds lovely @WeirdPookah I love lentil bolognaise. I made a huge pot of bolognaise using Linda McCartney mince and half lentils last week, did lots of meals.

I love quorn picnic eggs so have been enjoying as a snack, 3 eggs for 150 calories.

fidgetcube · 25/01/2023 13:06

Struggling at the moment. Finished therapy today, we had nothing left to work on.

I want to eat, I’m not hungry, I feel like I need to replace it. I have strategies and I’m using them. But I’m just struggling at the moment. It’s only one day, I’ve been doing so well lately.

i want to eat but also I don’t want to. I reallly don’t fucking want to but also there’s a little part of me that does want to.

so frustrated.

DuckWithOneWing · 26/01/2023 10:15

I've been ill this week and have eaten loads. Usually I lose my appetite when I get ill so this is weird. I'm not really into chocolate but that's what I've mostly been eating - I've probably eaten my usual month's amount in a day! I'm starting to feel better so hopefully my eating can get back on track.

Hoping everyone else has a better week too.
