I started ozempic last night

Going to log my experience here as a journal and also to help others if interested.

having gone hungry to lose 5lbs earlier this year and then stalled because I’m always hungry, I put 4lbs back on. Being v pear shaped I never have a belly, but now it sticks out and digs in and clothes are uncomfortable. Doing more exercise makes no difference. It is clear that will power simply doesn’t work for me.

I took my first dose (0.25mg) last night. Woke up around 2.30 with pain at the injection site which passed. Was v thirsty so gulped water which just seemed to sit there. A couple of small burps. Got back to sleep. Weirdly vivid dreams. This morning, not particularly hungry first thing.

I’m also interested in where you ordered the needles, and which ones - the Novo ones in the box I can’t seem to find and I’m a bit nervous about whether another brand will fit. I can see others that are 32g and 4mm - can I just order those even if they aren’t the same manufacturer as the pen?

I’m so far having great results on 0.25 dose and considering continuing with that rather than stepping up to 0.5, at least as long as the effects keep working. I’ve had only slight nausea and discomfort from fullness whilst maintaining around 1000-1200 calories a day; I worry if I go up the dose I’ll either get much worse side effects or just eat nothing at all…! Plus it would save me a bit of money if each pen lasted longer…!

Is anyone finding they don't have appetite for a nutritious meal at dinner time.

Yesterday I bought knorr carbonara packet and had half of that at 8:30pm followed by a club milk & pack of lentil curls.

I'd pulled pork in the fridge and chicken fillets. I normally enjoy my dinner

Has anyone increased their dose early?

Having had no side effects and reading that very little loss happens on .25, I've taken 1 1/2 doses of my .25 pen today.

If there's no side effects I'll do the same next week then start week 4 on .5

Yes, I took another 0.25 today so taken 0.5 this week (week 3)
I'm hungry! Quite annoying

MaireadMcSweeney · 18/01/2023 12:16

I ordered 32mg and 4mm as that's what it says on my packet and the pictures look like they are the same. I got them on eBay for about £10 for 100

Hello all. I started ozempic this morning, first dose of 0.25mg. Do I need to stay on 0.25mg for 4 weeks or can I just do 0.25 for 2 and then move up to 0.5? I'll be getting a new pen in 4 weeks and there's enough in the pen for more if that makes sense? Can anyone guide?

Anyway, current weight as of this morning is 13stone 2. Will wait to see next Tuesday what I am as that's my usual weigh day. Would love to be 9st 7 in a dream world by the time I go to Disney in September.

Just placing a placemark!

You can go up earlier if the effects are wearing off quickly but stay on the lower dose if it's working as you can keep the next dose for your first 0.5

Same here. I have no appetite at dinner time. I just make sure I'm eating a small portion of healthy stuff.

Sorry if I’m being thick, but do the 0.25 pens contain more than 1mg in total then, ie four doses of 0.25? I’m finding that my appetite is much stronger than before and I’m halfway through my second week on 0.25. Some appetite suppression is still there so I haven’t given in, but I can imagine that come Friday/Saturday (next dose is on Sunday) I’ll be really struggling! Is there enough in the pen for the remaining two doses to be 0.50 each before I then buy a 0.50 pen when I start my second month?

General update 11 days in - I’ve now lost 13 pounds! I imagine the loss will start slowing down a lot now but I’m thrilled. My shape is so much better already and even though I still have a lot to lose (just over four stone) I feel so much better about myself. DH has noticed too which is nice, so I know I’m not just kidding myself.

I’m ashamed to say that on most previous diets I would have already given up, whereas on Ozempic I feel much more motivated and confident that I can go the distance.

Katrinawaves · 18/01/2023 16:29

I found that the side effects increased as the level of drug built up in my system. I didn’t have any side effects at all for the first couple of weeks and then they hit me like a bulldozer. For that reason I would stick with the recommended titration plan rather than bumping up to 0.5 a couple of weeks early. And even more so if you are losing significant amounts of weight in 0.25 which shows that it is working even at the lower dose.

Hello @Abeachsomewhere

Could I ask what you starting weight was please?

orangelotus · 18/01/2023 17:25

the 0.25 has extra doses in it .
i used it to take my first 0.5 and there is still some there.
obviously there are not enough new needles which is a nuisance.
I took my first 0.5 a day early as i was just getting as hungry as ever.
i am temped to take the remainder of the first syringe during tomorrow as it seems awful to waste it. The literature says as long as more than 2 days have passed since the last dose it should be ok? then take my official second 0.5 dose on Tuesday? i'm going on holiday on Saturday so very worried about eating and gaining back th e 11lbs!!
Today was my official weighing day and i have just stayed to the same so a total loss of 11lbs in 5 weeks.
I think i need to be around 9 stones to have a normal BMI as i'm
very short . So 4 stones to go.
someone put on here that she really didn't start consistently losing until she was on the 1 mg dose so i'm hoping that will be the same for me.
Good luck to everyone! Seems that there's discussions about Ozempic everywhere at the moment

Hello @Abeachsomewhere

Could I ask what you starting weight was please?

Just over 16 stone 😔 I’m 5’6 and naturally curvy, so aiming to get back to 11 stone which is at the top end of a healthy BMI for me.

Oigetoffmylawn · 18/01/2023 17:37

I feel horrendous today, very fluey but not related to the drug I don't think. I do however have horrific indigestion which I think is linked to ozempic!

Barely eaten today but I think that's because I'm ill as much as it is ozempic.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 18/01/2023 17:48

I took my second dose this morning and the hell-mouth farts have returned this evening, so I think it might be related. Still no nausea which is a relief. I did have a very vivid dream though in which a group of people I was with strung a comedy trio up from a tree (by a rope under the armpits, not by the neck) so that their shouting and complaining would distract the zombies while the rest of us made our escape.

i'd watch that dream sounds great!!

@HermioneWeasley could we maybe have a new thread please? It’s been so useful, maybe you’d start one? Thank you!
