I started ozempic last night

Going to log my experience here as a journal and also to help others if interested.

having gone hungry to lose 5lbs earlier this year and then stalled because I’m always hungry, I put 4lbs back on. Being v pear shaped I never have a belly, but now it sticks out and digs in and clothes are uncomfortable. Doing more exercise makes no difference. It is clear that will power simply doesn’t work for me.

I took my first dose (0.25mg) last night. Woke up around 2.30 with pain at the injection site which passed. Was v thirsty so gulped water which just seemed to sit there. A couple of small burps. Got back to sleep. Weirdly vivid dreams. This morning, not particularly hungry first thing.

I had some private bloods done which have just come back. My HBA1C is 37 which is great. I was previously prediabetic and had gestational diabetes in pregnancies. I’ve been low carbing most of the time so how far this is the pure Ozempic blood sugar impact versus that (made easier to cope via Ozempic) but either way I’m delighted. I’ve also lost 10cm from my waist.

less good this weekend I really struggled and ended up eating a lot of chocolate and cake at a kids party and felt like the pre Ozempic me around food. Will need to think about whether I need to up my dose if this continues which my provider does do. However I did manage to put it behind me and restart the low carb without issue the next day rather than sliding out of the diet.

really that is such a wonderful outcome. One of my main drivers is to avoid diabetes so that's a great result x

It’s interesting to see how others are doing. First proper weigh in for me tomorrow. I’ve definitely noticed the last 24 hours that I am hungrier. I’m sitting here avoiding picking at things as I feel peckish - this time of day is always the worst for me. But jab two is due tomorrow so I’m hoping that will settle things again. My DH mentioned (he knows I’m on Ozempic) that he had noticed how much my appetite had decreased, which is a bit of a wake up for me realising how often I did snack! I really hope to see a reduction on the scales tomorrow. 🤞

I did my first injection a couple of hours ago and feel a bit sick. How long have you all noticed the sickness continues?

For me it’s 2 days every week starting the day after the injection

I am also coming towards the end of my first week (injection due Thursday) and I am definitely starting to feel hungrier too. I'm looking forward to feeling more balanced again, so roll on Thursday!

I ordered 100 needles from aliexpress because amazon won't deliver needles to ROI and they don't fit the pen

Scales told me I lost 16lbs overnight so I replaced the battery

Week 1 done, and 2kg lost! Which is more than I think I’ve ever lost in a week so I’m really happy with that. Onwards and downwards for all of us I hope.

Has anyone increased their dose early?

Having had no side effects and reading that very little loss happens on .25, I've taken 1 1/2 doses of my .25 pen today.

If there's no side effects I'll do the same next week then start week 4 on .5

I am on the last day of my first week. There have been zero negative side effects. Which has surprised me because I’m quite a sicky person. I have definitely felt my appetite has been reduced over the last week, but I’ve still wanted 3 meals a day plus fruit snacks. I’m not at Jeremy Clarkson levels of not wanting to eat at all.

I should admit that I’m not technically in the obese level. I’m 11 stone 8 and 5 foot 4 so well overweight and hoping to get to something that starts with a 9. I wonder whether that will make any difference to my results.

I’m similar-5ft 4 only just in the overweight category bmi wise but struggle to even maintain a set weight despite previously eating around 1500 cals a day and have PCOS working against me and high BP hence starting on Ozempic. I’ve just finished 1st week on 0.25 and appetite nose dived day 3 and only came back yest. Have been able to make sensible choices snd stick to 1000 cals a day easily and haven’t been hungry which is a total revelation. Lost 3lbs. Previously it took me 5 week on a very strict keto diet to lose3lbs and I was miserable the whole time so I’m very hopeful from this. No bad side effects so far…..I’m hoping to get to 9 stone 7lbs too x
