I started ozempic last night

Going to log my experience here as a journal and also to help others if interested.

having gone hungry to lose 5lbs earlier this year and then stalled because I’m always hungry, I put 4lbs back on. Being v pear shaped I never have a belly, but now it sticks out and digs in and clothes are uncomfortable. Doing more exercise makes no difference. It is clear that will power simply doesn’t work for me.

I took my first dose (0.25mg) last night. Woke up around 2.30 with pain at the injection site which passed. Was v thirsty so gulped water which just seemed to sit there. A couple of small burps. Got back to sleep. Weirdly vivid dreams. This morning, not particularly hungry first thing.

Hi everyone! I think I will also take the plunge here. Does anyone have a Juniper code to share with me?

PM'd you Smile

Hello you lovely lot! I was wondering if I could join? I have recently opted for ozempic (ordered through Numan) and should arrive on Thursday.

I’m currently age 29, 13st 2 and 5ft4, BMI 31. I do have insulin resistance and PCOS which make it harder to lose weight however I have been calorie counting using nutracheck and have lost 5 pound in 3 weeks!

does anyone have experience using Numan? Also what was everyone’s weight loss for the first month?

thank you all!

Happierwithouthim · 17/01/2023 06:07

14st1lbs this morning so should see 13st something during the week. I opted to stay on 0.5mg for another month as I was fairly nauseous after taking last injection last week.

OneAndDon3 · 16/01/2023 20:37

@Cozytoesandtoast00 yes I can't see any reason that you can't do that.

Thank you. I did in the end as I saw no reason not to! Lots left in the pen.

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 17/01/2023 06:17

My journey so far:
Took my first 0.5 last night. So 4 weeks completed. I've lost 10.5lbs in total.
Weight loss completely stalled in the 3rd week but continued to lose inches. So measure yourself everyone!
Week 4 was hard as appetite came back. I stuck to not eating sugar and processed food (apart from a bag of crisps! ) but satisfied my appetite with good food.
Happy so far. Not much in terms of side effects.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 17/01/2023 06:51

Well done Cosytoes - especially sticking with it for week 4 of 0.25mg. Good luck to the new starters this week. Hope you see your new number soon Happierwithouthim.

Official weigh in and injection day for me and I am down another 0.9kg/nearly 2lb this week.

I had a day of crazy sugar eating last week but got back on it the next day and with the Ozempic I didn’t also eat big meals - or even very much in the way of meals to be honest that day. Not healthy or recommended but interesting to see the difference. Probably less of a binge than without Ozempic too. The rest of the week I have been eating real food and no refined sugar which feels much better.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 17/01/2023 07:18

The side effects have settled right down now. Even the mild morning nausea has gone (although perhaps not completely when brushing my teeth for example). I did have a long afternoon sleep at the weekend but I don’t know if that is related or not.

Cappuccinopup · 17/01/2023 07:24

Hi all, just checking in!

I started ozempic 30th December, so 2.5 weeks ago. Today I am 9lbs down from my December 30th weight.

I’m delighted!
My start weight was 202lbs and my current weight is 193lbs. My waist measurement has gone from 32.8 inches to 30.3 inches too.

I am aiming for 135-145lbs so I have a way to go yet, but this drug makes the process easy and enjoyable. Making better food choices is effortless, and portion sizes are naturally smaller because of the appetite reduction.

good luck all!

OneAndDon3 · 17/01/2023 07:52

Third jab today. I can very much notice the appetite suppressant effect wearing off on the last day, which is interesting.

Alstoybarn · 17/01/2023 09:32

Hi guys can anyone help? So I got mine from numan and its the 0.25 pen. Which is supposed to be a month -4 doses. But I've just had my third dose and it's still about 2 quarters full? And just noticed the pan says 1.5!? So surely that's 6 doses. So confused now help!

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 17/01/2023 09:39

There are 8 doses in the 0.25mg pen. You are only meant to use each pen for 6 weeks though. But you can get two 0.5mg doses out of it once you have had your four 0.25mg doses and save some money (just do two 0.25mgs). The contents of the 0.5mg pen is identical but more expensive and there are 4 0.5mg doses in that one. The 1 mg pen has twice as much of the drug in it and again it is just the four doses.

Oh wow thank you for explaining! How confusing lol!

Happierwithouthim · 17/01/2023 10:56

There's a little bit left in my first 0.5mg pen, I was thinking I could use it towards end of my second 0.5mg pen to get a stronger dose.

Knobknob · 17/01/2023 11:32

Think I'm cancelling. Eight weeks and no weight lost.

Just paid for my second 0.5 pen so I'll eek out what I have in the other pen I have before that but so far I am 600 quid and zero pounds down.

does it have no effect on you?
I think this might be similar for me at first i really did feel full all the time etc but now I just feel normal and am struggling to stay in control.
i'm exactly 5 weeks today and am about 11lbs down but that was really mostly in the first three weeks. To be clear that is still a real benefit for me as i was just gaining all the time so it's a loss which is a win
for me .
But if i'd lost zero i'd be really disappointed as well .
Can you talk to your prescriber?
When i spoke to the jupiter pharmacist she said usually no weight loss until you reach the 1mg dose but being cynical i suppose they would say that.
i have decided to spend 1k ( from my pension payout ) then reassess.
Maybe you need the higher dose?

orangelotus · 17/01/2023 11:44

shouldn't you be on 1mg now if you've used a whole 0.5 mg pen?

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 17/01/2023 11:44

I didn’t lose consistently until the 1mg dose. Probably worth trying that before giving up.

Happierwithouthim · 17/01/2023 12:15

Knobknob it's very expensive not to be losing on but anything I've read said that you don't lose on titration doses, it's when you get up to 1mg.

I worry about what happens when I get to my target weight, apparently if you come off it you gain but will you continue to lose if you stay on it?

SorryForTheRant · 17/01/2023 12:28

Hi all, I've been considering placing an order and this thread is really helpful!

Has anyone tried the tablet version? It looks a bit easier to get hold of? I also hate the thought of injecting myself (I have no issues with needles administered by a medical professional but really struggle with the thought of doing it myself).

Thank you in advance 😊

orangelotus · 17/01/2023 12:33

the needle is minuscule. You really cannot feel it .
i can't comment on the tablet but would certainly be easier to take away and store .
very glad to hear the 1 mg should make a difference as well that confirms what the pharmacist said

SorryForTheRant · 17/01/2023 12:35

Thanks very much @orangelotus that's really helpful, I think I'll go for it and see how it goes.

It's less the pain and more the act of injecting myself that I can't wrap my head around, I can't explain it very well (which is how I know it's totally irrational), I'd be fine with a finger prick to take blood.

StuckInTheUpsideDown · 17/01/2023 13:01

@SorryForTheRant Perhaps have a look at some videos on YouTube to get an understanding of what is involved. It isn’t like doing an old fashioned style of injection with pushing a plunger.

MaireadMcSweeney · 17/01/2023 13:04

Where do people get new needles from? I feel like I need to go up now rather than wait for week 5 as I'm not feeling any side effects now and the positive effects are limited. If I could get some new needles I could do another 0.25 mid week and then do 0.5 next week

Katrinawaves · 17/01/2023 13:05

I got mine from Amazon. I just googled the description on the side of the pack provided with the ozempic and they came up

it's not even as bad as a finger prick I think they are awful
