Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! August Thread heres the September Thread!

The start of autumn is the perfect time to overall your way of eating in readiness for the change in seasons. Summer was gone in a flash and now the days are getting fresher; I for one like the cooler climate 🥶 < OK not that cold 😬

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right into September! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead and few tweaks here and there it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

@Rewis I have found a cup of coffee can be helpful for some reason. Or tinned pears if I reallly want to bring in the big guns!
Day 9
SW:143.2
CW:139.6
GW:126
3.6lbs in 9 days and a tiny bit further into the 9 stone band.
Did a Leslie walk last night from YouTube as it was pouring here is London town.
Onwards and inwards my chums, onwards and inwards.

Allthegoodnamestakken · 28/09/2022 08:27

Morning all
Well done on all the losses!
WoW this week is down 0.9kg so i'm very pleased I really was badly behaved at the weekend
SW- 76.4kg
CW- 68kg
GW-65kg

MirandaWest · 28/09/2022 09:37

Weighed myself this morning and very pleased to see it was under 70kg. And also under 11 stone 😃

SW 76.5kg
CW 69.4kg
TW 65kg

I am getting nearer to being not overweight which is good. And my running is feeling really good right now - have had some good runs recently which I’m sure are helped by hefting less mass around with me

CrimsonAlligator · 28/09/2022 10:05

Morning all! I sort of fell off the thread after going on holiday and then picking up a nasty bug...I’m still recovering from that, but ready to start taking this healthy eating lark seriously again. I’m not going to weigh myself quite yet. I can feel that my jeans are getting tighter, so I think that’s a clear enough sign that I’ve gained 😂

Well done to everyone who’s lost this week!

Hi @CrimsonAlligator lovely to see you back! The virus’s going around this year are brutal. I think it’s because we have all been cocooned for 2 years and it’s the first infection we’ve had if that makes sense. OAN Tip! Breathe in and your waistband will instantly loosen 😬 j/k

SW 15st
CW 12 st 1
I've just been up and down like a yoyo in September, largely due to a couple of weekends away. My goal for September is to be 12 0 on the 1st October and I thought it would be easy. I have no confidence that I'll make it now!

Well done for some excellent results up-thread.

Thank you @TheRealHousewife for the link.

Slightlystressedbride · 28/09/2022 11:02

Hi all, I'm back having taken a wedding break! We had the most amazing day, my dress fitted like a glove. And we were so lucky with the weather, warm sunshine all day! It feels like it's got very autumnal since. We had a fantastic honeymoon in Italy last week where I ate all of the pasta, all of the bread and drank all of the wine, I don't regret a single mouthful! Although I appear to have put on almost 6lbs in a week - which I'm telling myself is mainly water weight, as I tell everyone else who puts on during a carbfest! So trying to get (slowly) back on it - my body is definitely unhappy having got used to gluttony...

SW 11st 8lb
CW 10st 6lb (I was just over 10st on my wedding day Grin)
TW 9st 7lb

Great to see everyone's losses although sorry so many have been unwell! Hope you're feeling better @TheRealHousewife

milkfromthesleepycow · 28/09/2022 12:17

@Slightlystressedbride glad you had a good wedding!

@Was126orbustandmaybebust I think onwards and inwards may be my new mantra...

Lizsmum · 28/09/2022 12:47

That is so good to hear @Slightlystressedbride! Are you going to post a picture?

TheRealHousewife · 28/09/2022 13:37

You're welcome @Lizsmum Including today you have 3 whole days until the first! Thats nearly 1/2 a week. You have a good chance of losing a 1lb in that time depending on your food intake :)

Congratulations and welcome back @Slightlystressedbride Pleased to read you had a good time Mrs :) Are you having a mumsnet name change to @ newlywed or similar lol

I've annoyingly (but not surprisingly!) stayed the same through September -

SW - 84.8kg
CW - 84.8kg
TW - 63.5kg

Well done to everyone losing weight! Here's to a better October for me weight-wise!

@MirandaWest - you're my birthday twin and also (based on height too I guess!) you seem to be similar to me re weight and what we've been up to recently.

@CrimsonAlligator - a nasty bug is really a set back sometimes. I agree with you re jeans or clothes getting tighter being a good indicator of losing weight. I was the same a few weeks ago, I noticed I looked slimmer but also noticed that with certain jeans etc they definitely felt looser but I wasn't sure if I'd lost weight or if so how much.

@Slightlystressedbride - well now in theory you can take your foot off the pedal now you've lost weight but I can see you have a goal weight. Glad you've had a nice wedding and honeymoon. I recall I used to see someone by sight on my commute who was engaged and then she went away (I overheard her talking about her wedding which was abroad), she had long waist length hair and when she returned from her wedding she'd had it chopped off into a chic bob! I also noticed she was more relaxed about food and seemed to be using the station cafe more for croissants and bacon baps!

Breakfast today: Oatsosimple with blueberries and raisins but added 80g blueberries
Lunch: left over bean meal with rice and slice of seeded French wholemeal baguette

Had second part of root canal today so felt starving but wanted something easy to eat.

Rewis · 28/09/2022 15:26

Now thay covid is "over" and cold season is here. I have to start wearing trousers again. Argh. Stupid inventions.

Allthegoodnamestakken · 28/09/2022 15:27

@Slightlystressedbride so glad to hear you had a lovely day. A week of all the carbs sounds perfect also!

ImALittlePea · 28/09/2022 18:31

Some great results today everyone. Each week I'm so inspired by the positivity and motivation, from those who see what they want on the scale and from those who don't!

Yay you're back @Slightlystressedbride I've been waiting to hear how the big day was. So pleased you had a fantastic day ❤️ I also honeymooned in Italy - it's my favourite place on earth. Can't wait until the kids are old enough to either tolerate the slow pace of holidays there, or to be left with family for a few nights for us to go back child free 🤩 definitely don't sweat the honeymoon gain! You'll be back on it in no time.

Very busy day for me, out on my feet and walking about all morning.

Meals:
Lunch - chicken salad again - using up the last of the chicken I cooked Monday. Delish.
Dinner - DH was meant to be out but came home early, so not sure yet. Was due to be loaded pasta and pesto, but he doesn't always fancy it.
Zero snacks but a few teas and lots of water.

ImALittlePea · 28/09/2022 18:32

(oh - and pesky hormones seem to have faded today. Thank goodness! 👀😅)

TheRealHousewife · 29/09/2022 08:29

Good Morning All

@ImALittlePea Great update! It’s good the hormones are back in-line!

@JacquelineCarlyle It can be disappointing when we are not rewarded on the scale. Our bodies are complicated and it’s so frustrating; after being at goal then gaining some back due to inactivity and ill health (and taking eye of the portion sizes)I lost most of the gain but not all and then plateaued… for months. I’d resigned myself that I’d reached my body’s set point and carried on healthy eating. Then I started losing again 🤷‍♀️. I’ll admit I’d periodically change small things like I started taking coffee black and went back to weighing everything (I know that’s not for everyone and I’m not suggesting you do this. I don’t know your age but for me I feel getting older and declining/absent hormones plays a part too. My rationale was that if I didn’t maintain my healthy habits I’d be gaining week on week rather than being on a plateau iyswim. Short reply … keep going 😬

Ive noticed I missed a few posts yesterday:-

@MirandaWest Well done!

@wannadisc0 Youre doing great overall! I love a veggie soup. Comforting bowl of healthy goodness 😋

@GonnaGetGoingReturns How did the dentist visit go. Hope you’re not in pain!

Menu
Meal 1 - Spicy vegetable soup with lentils.
Meal 2 - Spaghetti bolognaise with gf pasta. Mixed fresh fruit salad & fresh cream.
Tea, black coffee & water.

Exercise - Just household jobs today. Feel a bit achy & fluey again 🥴

Last 2 day push for September Ladies; Let’s make them count!

Thank you @TheRealHousewife - very motivational as always! You're so good!

You are right too, better to maintain than gain, so that's a positive!

See you on the October thread!

CrimsonAlligator · 29/09/2022 09:25

Morning all! This stupid bug I’ve been dealing with is increasing my appetite tenfold, so yesterday wasn’t as good a day as I’d hoped it to be...Oh well, today is another day and I will try again.

One of thing I’ve been struggling with a little bit, is that after putting in a hell of a lot of effort to lose weight, I now have very little to wear because I hate practically everything that’s in the shops. Last year’s winter wardrobe consisted of 2 pairs of jeans, 3 t-shirts and two jumpers. I can’t have another winter like that, but everything I’m seeing in the shops is either too oversized, too short, or silly prices for what is basically polyester. I didn’t lose weight for that! 😡

When I was bigger, I had some nice, well fitting clothes that made me feel good about myself. You think it’d be a lot easier to find that after you drop a few dress sizes, but seemingly not. End of my rant, but honestly I just hate fashion! I’m currently contemplating just knitting my own jumpers. Desperate times 😂

TheRealHousewife · 29/09/2022 09:33

@CrimsonAlligator Sorry to hear about your bug 🤧 Sounds tough wardrobe wise. What size are you? What kind of clothes do you like? Don’t answer if you’re not comfortable sharing. I have a lot of clothes that are looking for a new home and I’m happy to gift free if postage covered.

@JacquelineCarlyle You're very welcome 🙏

ImALittlePea · 29/09/2022 12:43

So as predicted, I told DH I'd planned pasta and pesto and he didn't want it. We ended up having homemade wedge, southern fried chicken goujons and peas. Not the healthiest, but off the back of a salad for lunch and nothing else all day, I figured not the worst either.

Today I spent the morning walking with/running around after DD. Got the house to blitz for upcoming birthday visitors/celebrations, so quite active overall.

Meals:
Lunch - cup-a-soup and veggies. Greek yoghurt and pomegranate.
Dinner - pizza (1/2 a frozen pizza express job) and chips. Was going to sub my chips for salad but ate the last just now. Won't be having any birthday cake with DS - saving that for the weekend!

TheRealHousewife · 29/09/2022 13:31

@ImALittlePea Sounds delicious and like you say on back of a salad it’s not bad. Balance and moderation = Sustainable eating that’s enjoyable 😋

Pigging headache and runny nose again! I’m sure I’ve picked another bug up 🤧

OP posts:
SanFranBear · 29/09/2022 15:54

Oh no, RealHousewife... sorry to hear you're under the weather again. Hope it passes soon!

I agree with RealHousewife though, LittlePea - sounds like a good night and sometimes, a little deviation makes you more determined the next day! I'm also making pizza tonight but might just make for the DC and have something else as not fancying it (and am determined to go down in the morning despite a pretty off-track week!)

Clothes are so annoying, CrimsonAlligator but I try to take heart in the fact everything is smaller. You could always have a wander round the charity shops so things won't be this season but might be a bit more of a 'classic' fit and will be much cheaper... I can't justify lots of money on new clothes although am somewhat lucky as have a fair few bits which have been too small for years and I now fit in - gotta be some pay off for being a borderline hoarder!
