🍁LOSE IT! October 2022🍁12 WEEK COUNTDOWN TO CHRISTMAS 🎄

Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! September Thread here’s October’s Thread.

Dare I say it’s officially the 12 Week Count Down to Christmas 🎄😬 There is still time (for those who want to) for a complete body/mind/fitness overhaul before the festivities and family get together commence 🥳 Plus, who doesn’t want to start 2023 feeling more energised, fitter and svelte!

Jump right into October! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead and few tweaks here and there it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

Checking in - thanks for the new thread!

SW - 84.8kg (13st 5lb)
CW - 84.8kg
TW - 63.5kg (10st)

I generally follow the Slimming World plan as to me that's really about healthy eating and helps me keep in control.

I do drink calories though and then that leads to eating a lot of rubbish, so going to cut back on alcohol for October and see if that helps!

I've done Sober for October a few times in the past, so will aim for that to help shift the pounds this month, given September was a maintain and do want to lose some before the Christmas party season!

Love your motivational responses @TheRealHousewife - you really do help a lot!

CrimsonAlligator · 29/09/2022 08:58

First one in...and hopefully not the first one to drop out this month 🤣

Thanks for the new thread @TheRealHousewife. I’ll be calorie counting and continuing my 10k rowing program, which sees me burning a lot of calories, five times a week.

I’m still trying to find the right balance between fuelling all that exercise and losing weight, but for obvious reasons I have to allow myself a reasonable amount of calories on training days. If that means that I “only” manage to maintain by the end of the month, then so be it...a small loss would be nice though!

JacquelineCarlyle · 29/09/2022 09:07

What's the 10k rowing challenge @CrimsonAlligator? I used to row at uni and have a rowing machine at home but struggle to motivate myself at times so if there's a decent challenge to get stuck into, that might help!

Lizsmum · 29/09/2022 09:14

I'll just keep on doing what I'm doing -- calories and trying to be lowish carb.
Thank you for the new thread @TheRealHousewife

CrimsonAlligator · 29/09/2022 10:29

Oooh, a fellow rower! 🚣‍♀️

It’s not a challenge as such @JacquelineCarlyle , it’s a training plan I’m following through the Training Peaks app.

I did a 12 week 2k plan earlier this year and am now half way through a 16 week program to do a 10k. I like following a plan, because otherwise I’d just end up doing the same thing every day and would get bored pretty quickly. I still get a little bit bored even with these plans, but at least I know what I need to do each day, without me having to waste any brain power on working that out!

JacquelineCarlyle · 29/09/2022 10:31

I'll take a look at the app @CrimsonAlligator , thanks.

Concentrating on non processed food and protein intake. Roughly calorie counting but not weighing or measuring at the moment.

Building up running for half marathon next may, 3 sessions a week and also weightlifting.

Only 12 weeks til Christmas 😱😱😱
I've got half term to get through first!

milkfromthesleepycow · 29/09/2022 12:30

Thanks for the new thread @TheRealHousewife. Always feels like a fresh start- keeps up the motivation!

ImALittlePea · 29/09/2022 12:45

MirandaWest · 29/09/2022 12:49

I’m checking in too - this thread is great 😊

TheRealHousewife · 29/09/2022 13:38

You are all very welcome 🙏

Self care, healthy eating, positive mental health, exercise & connecting with like minded people are increasingly important; especially whilst the financial crisis, Putins war and the cost of living crisis is looming over us. It’s the era of making the best of things. I realise that is easier said than done.

Can I join please? I need a group with mutual support like this! Im 40 next year and desperate to not go into the next decade feeling so unhealthy.
SW 71.7kg
CW 71.7kg
GW 63.5kg

TheRealHousewife · 29/09/2022 22:27

Welcome to the thread @soggycornflakes & @Thefroglover 👍 We usually get a really supportive group of people on these threads so I’d say you’ve come to the right place!

@Thefroglover your target averages out about 2lb a week which depending on your commitment could be doable👍

@soggycornflakes Your aim to be more healthy and fitter by next year is a good motivator. Whats your plan?

@wannadisc0 The school holidays can be difficult to navigate food wise! Forward planning might help but I know that doesn’t always help when your routines different and when you’re out and about. 🤞

Had an early night to try to shift headache but unable to get to sleep 💤 Scrolling is the worst thing for headaches but can’t help myself when awake 😬

Cloudberries123 · 29/09/2022 22:39

I'm here awake scrolling too @TheRealHousewife and want to say thanks for the new thread and for always being so upbeat and considerate! It really sets the tone of these threads which is why I'm so happy to have joined.

So for October, the goal is to get under and stay under 100! I'll set another mini goal for Christmas closer to the time!

SW: 100.4kg
CW: 100.6kg

Careylisa · 29/09/2022 23:20

Please can I join? I put on a fair bit of weight during my last pregnancy. I think it's about time I started trying to get back in to my pre pregnancy clothes!

CW 74.3
GW 60.3

TheRealHousewife · 29/09/2022 23:34

I’m pleased I’m not on my own @Cloudberries123 … although after this post it’s iPad down 😬

Welcome to the thread @Careylisa and congratulations on your baby. How old is she/he? Do you have a plan in mind yet?

Right, nite nite, sleep tight 😴 💤

On a mission to lose a bit too. I was at my target weight in may, well, a bit below it... then a few holidays and lack of any effort to maintain weightloss over the entire summer and the pounds have crept back on, as they do! (It's just not as motivating when you're not seeing the lbs come off every week!) Haven't got too much to lose now but I'd like it gone by christmas.
Calorie counting and going for walks works for me, I use a paid website called weightlossresources.com to track my calories/exercise etc.
Current weight; 10st 2.5lbs
Target for Santa; 9st 7lbs

Careylisa · 30/09/2022 07:18

@TheRealHousewife thanks 😊He's just over six months now.
I'm just starting by cutting out as much processed food as possible and gradually start IF again. I aim to get out for more walks too!

MrsPepperpotty · 30/09/2022 07:25

Can I join you please!
SW: 14st 8lb
CW: 14st 8lb
TW: 12st

My main aim is to reduce ultra processed food and NO snacking!

fallfallfall · 30/09/2022 07:29

A shiny new thread! You made me smile @TheRealHousewife 😊, thank you.

TheRealHousewife · 30/09/2022 07:40

Good Morning All

@Careylisa How delightful! He’ll be starting to be more engaging and they are just so cute at 6 months old 👶 Sounds a sensible way forward and nothing too drastic. Walking is so beneficial. You’ll soon see some positive changes with tweaks here and there 👍

Welcome to the thread @Moon22 You don’t have much to lose so fingers crossed you meet Santas target 🤞🎄However, it can be more difficult the nearer we get to goal. Just keep going and don’t give up! Using apps can be very useful. I find it inspiring when the numbers start going in the right direction 😬

Last Weigh-In for September shows an overall loss of 1.3lbs 😆. This month I’ve fluctuated up and down quite a bit due to illness and pain meds. I’m pleased overall.

Menu
Meal 1 - Halloumi stir fry.
Meal 2 - Chicken mini fillets & mixed veg with sweet & sour sauce.
Fresh fruit salad & small amount of cream.

Exercise
Session 1 - Hand Weights
Session 2 - Stretches

Enjoy your day and whatever you’re doing do it with oomph!

Jammymare · 30/09/2022 08:18

Please can I join? I put on a huge amount during my pregnancy - over 4 stone! Baby is nearly 4 months now and my weight has stabilised at 12st 10lb. I’d like to loose 2st.
I fear I’ve been getting into some bad habits, with crisps, chocolate and peanut butter on toast being lunch most days. Any suggestions for healthy and quick to prepare lunches I can eat one handed?
I’m going to do sober October, aim for 50,000 steps a week minimum and (bar this Saturday when we have family round) no takeaways this month.
