Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! August Thread heres the September Thread!

The start of autumn is the perfect time to overall your way of eating in readiness for the change in seasons. Summer was gone in a flash and now the days are getting fresher; I for one like the cooler climate 🥶 < OK not that cold 😬

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right into September! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead and few tweaks here and there it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

Greetings my old chums and new joiners too.
Dropping DD1 back to Uni next week and DD2 heading off for her first year 10 days later so after a summer of sun/fun/delicious food and wine and not weighing in (yikes!) I will be back in the saddle.
I know I'm up a bit but whether it is 7/10 or 14lbs I do not know.
Will brave a weigh in but re-joining the thread is my first step in the right direction.

Rewis · 31/08/2022 09:40

SW 88.4kg
Last week: 87.9kg
This week: 88.4kg

GW 85kg

Grrr. But to be expected I guess. New week and all that 😃

RadFad · 31/08/2022 10:44

Joining in with the September loss.
Goal is 7lb loss. No annual leave or birthdays this month so hoping not to get derailed.

Good luck everyone.

Purplecatshopaholic · 31/08/2022 12:21

Hello everyone. Had fruit for breakfast instead of toast. Getting back out of the bread-with-everything habit - again! It makes me feel sluggish and crap, there’s no need for it, it’s just easy to grab. Forgot to Weigh In - another habit to get back in to. Feeling positive about things with this thread to keep my mind focused 😀

JacquelineCarlyle · 31/08/2022 12:28

Can I join in? I follow Slimming World and have lost 5 stone in the past on it but over the last 13 years have put 4 stone back in again. I lost 2 of those again and then Covid struck and put 1 stone back on.

Long story means I now have 3 stone to lose & have been struggling to lose anything since the start of the year. I do so well for a period of time and then lose my motivation! I do drink a lot of calories too and have holiday blow outs, so need something different to help motivate and keep me on track.

SW 84.8kg (13st 5lb)
CW 84.8kg
GW 63.5kg (10 stone)

TheRealHousewife · 31/08/2022 13:07

@JacquelineCarlyle Welcome to thread! It’s stuff losing weight and then keeping it off. The best way I look at it is a healthier way of eating (making sure sustainable as well as enjoyable) rather than a diet. Off course there are digresses along the way but overall it really is about being consistent. As cheesy as it sounds It’s a journey rather than a destination. You’ve done it before Jacqueline; get yourself in the right head space and you can definitely do it again.

@AquaTorfanaa Welcome. What is your plan? Failure to plan is akin to planning to fail 😬

@Was126orbustandmaybebust Hello lovely, nice to see you back with us! Hope you don’t suffer to much with empty nest syndrome when the girls are back in uni! Tough time.

@Rewis Fresh new month, new week and new start! Refresh & reset! You’ve got this! 👍

@Purplecatshopaholic As a celiac it a tad easier for me to swerve most processed carbs. That said, I try to make sure I have plenty of protein to help keep me satiated until my next meal. What about having Greek yoghurt with your fruit? Or scrambled/boiled eggs for breakfast. I’m thinking just fruit will leave you hungry.

Hi @RadFad nice to have you join us again. 👍

Hi everyone! Lots of new faces Smile
My WoW is flat since Friday which I'm quite happy with given hen weekend!
Overall 4lbs down over August.

SW 11st 8lb
CW 10st 3lb
Wedding dress weight 9st 12lb
TW 9st 7lb

Just over a fortnight to go so starting the final pre-wedding push here!

HouseofHolbein · 31/08/2022 14:18

Thanks @TheRealHousewife 👍 hopefully be around a bit more this month! Just going to update on Augusts post 😊

Cleopatra67 · 31/08/2022 15:20

Accidentally posted on August post. Keen to join - need to lose two stone. Think I might be insulin resistant as lose weight v slowly but have lost 3lbs in first week and back to school tomorrow when I’m too busy to think about food!

TheRealHousewife · 31/08/2022 15:50

Hi @HouseofHolbein 👋 glad you found us all 👍

Hi @Cleopatra67 great! I lose very slowly too. In my case I have an underactive thyroid which is now medicated. Has yours been tested?

I’d say that’s a great result @Slightlystressedbride considering the partying 😬 Not long to go! Exciting times 💒 👰‍♀️ 🎉

You’re welcome @JacquelineCarlyle 👍

I'm over the moon with my first WoW. 5.5lbs since last Wed. BUT I always lose a lot first week so the next few weeks will be telling!

TheRealHousewife · 31/08/2022 16:48

That’s a WOW and a half @DeclansAFeckingDream 👍👏 Well done. Now keep going 😬

That’s a WOW and a half @DeclansAFeckingDream 👍👏 Well done. Now keep going 😬

That's the difficult part isn't it. But I know I need to do this properly this time for my health.

CassandraBarrett · 31/08/2022 17:20

Hi everyone, Can I join?
Weight currently 63.3kg. I'm hoping to get under 60... I need to build muscle though so I'd be happy with the same weight but less inches if that makes sense.
DC just back to school. I'm hoping that daily yoga, a few dog walks a week and getting to bed at a reasonable hour will help.
I'm breastfeeding my youngest so I'm always hungry which doesn't help 😁

CassandraBarrett · 31/08/2022 17:27

SW 64.4kg
CW 63.3kg
GW 59kg

My SW was mid July. My weight fluctuates (as does everyone's!) but it has hovered around 63.5 so I'm happy to say I'm (probably) definitely down that Kilo.

I have mindset of rewarding myself with food though. And eating with friends. So tomorrow I will choose tea and a scone instead of cappuccino and a scone.

Or does that even make a difference? (I know just choosing tea would be the most impactful)

ImALittlePea · 31/08/2022 19:27

Checking in!

Thank you @TheRealHousewife again for the thread and for being our head cheerleader each month!

Four days left of the holidays AND COUNTING for me! I'm semi back in the right head space already (had a couple of cup-a-soup lunches this week 🤣) but SO ready to get back to it next week.

9 months after first joining I am nearly 1.5 stone down, got about 5ish lb left to go (I think), so to any newbies WELCOME, you are in a great space for support and positive accountability.

Plan for Sept - NO MIDWEEK WINE 😂 or bread or crisps. Back to tracking everything on MFP to refocus my mind. No takeaways for the month, and currently the social calendar is quite empty so hopefully less indulgent weekends (although I do fully expect this to change 🤦‍♀️).

I would love to have hit and exceeded the 1.5 stone loss mark by the end of the month. Not weighing until Friday so I won't know what the entails until then but probably at least a 3lb loss to achieve that.

TheRealHousewife · 31/08/2022 19:53

Welcome to the thread @CassandraBarrett swapping out the cappuccino for a tea, especially if having it semi skimmed is a positive step. I’ve actually swapped out coffees/lattes/cappuccino for tea, black coffee or water. I’m sure it helped restart my year long stall/maintenance 👍 It’s surprising how much drinks add to the total calorie intake! Building/maintaining muscle is so important as it helps keep the metabolism up and give your figure tone and definition!

@ImALittlePea You are very welcome! I like your September plan. I’m sure you’ll smash it! Planning and setting your intentions is half way there.

@DeclansAFeckingDream It isn’t easy I’ll admit. Especially if you’re only just finding your way that works for you. To be honest I actually really enjoy my food and these days alcohol isn’t on my radar so that helps me.

I’ve finished eating for the day and my kitchen has been cleaned and closed. Going to potter in the garden for half an hour then have a nice Fengal bath … love Fengal aroma 🛁

I've just posted in the August chat, without realising the September one has started already!

I'd gone a bit quiet in the August one because I thought I was doing okay with the steady weight loss. Then I went away and completely overindulged and put on 2.5kg in three days!

I'm determined for September! I hope I can do it.

MirandaWest · 31/08/2022 21:26

Thank you for the new thread @TheRealHousewife

Here's my stats

SW 76.7kg
CW 71.2kg
GW 65kg (decided it’s time to lower this from my initial 70kg target)

Not been a great day today - too many sweet things. But still kept within my calories and got out for two walks. And compared with the amount I used to have is much better 😊

Planning a long run tomorrow

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 01/09/2022 07:05

Thanks for the welcome back @TheRealHousewife DD1 loves her course and if DD2 is as happy I'll be very content too so will be ok with the empty nest.
So I braved the scales and 136.25lbs so 10lbs to target though as you may recall my target is a, potentially, ever decreasing one as I went through name changes with a slowly decreasing number.
Onwards and inwards.

SanFranBear · 01/09/2022 08:47

Weighed in all ready for a new month and have had the smallest of gains this week (200g) which given I drank my body weight and more last weekend, I am very happy with:

SW: 104.7kg
CW: 73.3kg
September GW: 70kg

As always, a very stretch target but will mean just over 5 stone lost (eeeek!) and will also put me in a healthy BMI for the first time in living memory. I'm hoping that all of us getting back into a decent routine will help keep me focused (and no massive social weekenders on the cards either - which makes me sad but will definitely help!)

Let's DO this 💪

CrimsonAlligator · 01/09/2022 09:16

Morning all! I’m starting the month on 75.4. I don’t normally set myself a goal (beyond not gaining!), but may be I should?! 🤔

My plan for today is:

Breakfast: Nectarine and a glass of Alpro protein drink
Lunch: Falafel, salad & pitta
Dinner: Veggie bean chilli & rice. I may swap the rice for quinoa, if I can work out what to do with it, but my previous attempts haven’t exactly been great so I may just stick with the rice.

Exercise: Today is supposed to be a rest day, after finishing week 6 of my intense rowing program yesterday. I get a bit twitchy if I don’t exercise though, so I’ll probably end up going for a walk after work.

I’m keeping everything crossed for you @SanFranBear . Making it down to a healthy BMI is a massive achievement!

buzzofthebumblebee · 01/09/2022 09:45

Hello! I'm back again after a break from MN. Good to see you @TheRealHousewife and other names from old, and new people too.

I started my weight loss journey exactly a year ago today. I got from 13 stone 2 to 11 stone 2 in 6 months, and have largely maintained. The support I got on here was amazing, thanks to you all.

My big downfall is sugar - and the last couple of months have seen me drink far more wine, and eat more cake and chocolate and crisps than I can or need. So cold turkey on sugar starting today. No sugar became a way of life, that suited me and actually stabilised my menopausal moods too! Back to no wine as well. Rosé season is officially over. Last bottle (ahem) was last night (and I'm paying for it today!!!)

CW today = 11 stone 8
GW = at least 11 2. Would love to be in the 10s but that feels far far away at the moment.

Looking forward to being part of the thread again!
