Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! August Thread heres the September Thread!

The start of autumn is the perfect time to overall your way of eating in readiness for the change in seasons. Summer was gone in a flash and now the days are getting fresher; I for one like the cooler climate 🥶 < OK not that cold 😬

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right into September! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead and few tweaks here and there it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

hello everyone
and either a hug/cup of tea/ or both for you @TheRealHousewife
seeing your post this morning really set me on a better path.
over the past week (maybe due to cooler weather) i have seen a few bad habits creep back into my daily life: sitting back with a cup of tea and relaxing, relaxing for long long stretches NOT getting in the exercise minutes, not drinking my water and not eating those darn veggies.
breakfast: scrambled eggs, half a bagel and tomatoes from the garden (still coming...)
lunch: SOUP, the leek and broccoli one i often make and have in the freezer. I'm in need of doing a beef and barley soup.
supper: quiche... yes the quiche i wanted to make a month back is finally getting done (with mashed sweet potato instead of pie crust ;) ) not sure what i'll add into it so far i've baked a kaboka squash (tiny little thing from the garden found hidden under the grape vines) and bacon.
yup even over here there were tears for her majesty, such a graceful woman.

SW 88.4kg
Last week: 87kg
This week: 87.1kg

GW 85kg

Weight is do fickle. +100g obviously could be any bloating but you can really see how sensitive the weight is. Relaxing a bit will have an immediate effect

Cloudberries123 · 21/09/2022 07:39

Morning all. Bit disappointed this morning with my weigh-in.

SW: 100.4kg
CW: 101.7kg

That's after being down at 99 last week! I wouldn't say my food choices have been amazing, but I haven't gone crazy with anything, I've been making a real effort to just have a little bit of whatever it is.

My only other thought is that I've been walking loads to get the baby to sleep, and maybe it's muscle gain? + food + a bit of water retention. Sigh. Not what I wanted to see today, but onward!

RadFad · 21/09/2022 07:42

Morning!
3lb loss this week. This is probably the first week where I have stayed on plan everyday. It's definitely helped me feel motivated for this week.

Last week doctor told me the pain in my toe had been misdiagnosed as gout. X-ray showed osteoarthritis. Obviously not reversible but can manage it better if I lose weight so I think that really gave me a kick up the bum. Need to find some low impact exercise that doesn't cost anything! Time to get the bike out again.

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 21/09/2022 07:42

Hope you are feeling better this morning @TheRealHousewife
It's great to be back on here and see everyone living their lives while trying to move towards their goal - very motivational. It is very annoying that I let things slide so much but we had a great family summer and with both DDs at Uni now I can refocus. So.....
Day 2
SW:143.2
CW:142
GW:126
It's a start! I have a walk planned this evening with a friend and another on Thursday with another friend so that should help too.
Onwards and inwards.
Any sign of @sunshinecake1 these days?

Have felt awful for days now with sinus / cold type virus. And I've been RAVENOUS. And not up to exercising.

SW 90.9kg
CW 67.7kg
GW 60kg

0.8kg gain. Not surprised, will keep trying to feed my body healthy things (but it's demanding carbs and lots of them!). Hopefully back on it soon

Hope you're starting to feel better @TheRealHousewife

Congrats to all the losers and everyone keeping the faith ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Joopy · 21/09/2022 08:55

SW 88.9
CW 83.9
GW 65

0.9kg loss. So I'm heading in the right direction. I feel I'm doing well but the numbers are moving very slowly. I made healthy choices all weekend and went for a decent dog walk everyday but didn't lose much at all. I need to be more patient!

TheRealHousewife · 21/09/2022 10:45

Good Morning All 😊

Apologies! I’ll be honest and admit I’ve not read the thread yet but I will! My head feels like mush and not taking info in 😬

Happy to report Id started to feel a bit more human yesterday. However, I’ve been accidentally glutened so was up all night with inflammation and cramps so feeling washed out and shattered.

Weight after holiday was up .7 lb. Due to pain meds this week I’m retaining water and up another 1.5lbs. Not worried and still well under 10stone but want to get back nearer 9st 3lb.

Menu
Meal 1 - Soup
Meal 2 - Roast chicken, Cauli, green beans, carrots, nero cavello & gravy.
Water, tea and black coffee. Pecans, walnuts.

I will make a big cuppa this afternoon and make a concerted effort to catch up on the thread 🙏❤️

Well done losers and even those who've perhaps seen a small gain.. another week of having your head in the right place means another week where yiu could've veered massively off plan and you didn't!

I will be out later for my WoW (unexpectedly actually, as had a meeting which has been postponed a week!) but wanted to also pop on with a NSV, ish...

I've been buying a couple of Xmas pressies to try and be organised for once and went to put one in the cupboard I use to hide things and keep stuff from the cats... and came across my Easter Egg! I'd completely forgotten its existence.. has meant I could have a little but of chocolate for elevenses but have moved it to the fridge for the DC to finish off as I just don't fancy it!

ImALittlePea · 21/09/2022 12:53

Well done to everyone who has WoW'd today.

I'm convinced I'm going to gain on Friday, but trying to use that mindset to stick with my willpower as much as possible! I'm feeling like I'm so close to target now that if I don't either stretch my midweek habits into the weekend more, or build some more regular exercise into my week, I'm going to struggle to lose the last few lb. I'd like to lose 4lb, and if I can get another 1/2 stone off then even better... But I always find the onset of autumn a hard change when it comes to dieting - everything becomes cosier in my home, which then leads to more comfort style food and snacking. So it just feels like extra effort and willpower is needed... From somewhere!!

Today's meals:
Lunch - cup-a-soup, veggies and a dairylea triangle
Dinner - baked potato, beans and cheese. Got no salad to have alongside unfortunately, but I'd always have a splash of dressing with it so no great loss on the calorie front.
Snacks - managed to stick to water, tea and a small oat latte so far. Will have a satsuma this afternoon.

DH is at home today, unusually for a Wednesday, so I'm going to join him for his lunchtime walk shortly, too.

Toodles!

Allthegoodnamestakken · 21/09/2022 12:59

Afternoon all, well done to all the loosers!
@RadFad sorry about your diagnosis, the bike sounds like an excellent idea, not free but also very low impact is swimming if you can find a cheap pool near you? when I lived in the UK I always used the council pools which where basic but fine and cheap I really miss them now we just don't have public swimming pools and I can afford an expensive gym club membership
@Cloudberries123 if you've really upped the walking it could be water and muscle, I find on weeks i've done very heavy exercise I never loose as much but will suddenly drop quite quickly a week later. My trainer tells me this is normal and keeps encouraging me to take measurements of myself as well as this will give a more accurate picture I haven't got round to it yet Blush

This weeks WoW is a positive one
SW- 76kg
CW- 68.9kg
GW1- 65kg

Struggling for dinner ideas today have quite a bit of veg that needs using up so was thinking i'd bung it all in the oven and roast it but can't think what I can add to them turn it into a meal

Cloudberries123 · 21/09/2022 14:23

Thank you @Allthegoodnamestakken it's reassuring that someone else has experience of a random gain when they've really moderated everything and exercised a lot! I'll work on chugging the water this week and see what happens.

Good idea as well about measurements. My sister suggested that too, so I think I'll do it.

CassandraBarrett · 21/09/2022 16:07

SW 64.4kg
CW 61.9g
GW 59kg

No change from last week. I did weigh 61.6 during the week but going on the Wednesday measurement it's the same

Lizsmum · 21/09/2022 18:16

On Sunday morning I weighed 12 st 1lb, almost at my end of September goal of 12 st. Hooray.

Then we went away - 2 very large hotel breakfasts, one chain restaurant dinner, one take away, one welsh cake, a millionaire's shortbread, over half a bottle of wine ......

Current weight a well deserved 12 st 5lbs😒.
I'm hoping it will leave as quickly as it came.

JacquelineCarlyle · 21/09/2022 19:36

I've put 3lb on this week - had 5 nights in Italy, so can't complain too much as it was full of eating and drinking!

CW - 13st 6lb

fallfallfall · 21/09/2022 21:21

hello everyone.
lower energy day today partially because i got my booster booster shot.
i'm totally not expecting 142.4
so far down 3.3 lbs this month and sill 9+ days to go?? because i've not weighted in daily it's hard to tell how successful the week has been or not.
not overeating but not exercising much.
chilly weather has me wanting to curl up with tea and a blanket.
B: the jamie oliver best breakfast bircher (we really like this recipe) 1.25 calories per gram and so a nice big bowl (200 gm is 250 calories) top with a few blackberries from the garden and that's a lot of fruit.
L: was the second half of the leek and broccoli soup with a half butter croissant.
S: will be the quiche with some beets and cucumber for color and texture

okay that's about it for me, i'm about to start a 15 minute easy leslie walk video.
hope that after the 1 i will find the energy to do another.

fallfallfall · 22/09/2022 01:31

Free produce given to DH from the farmer who’s land we keep bees on. I’ll need to research the squashes. I gather the green ones have edible skin. I won’t say no but I wasn’t in need of veggies…

Just trying some new Keto bars - I like a range of snacks in the house that aren’t toooo bad for you!

Was126orbustandmaybebust · 22/09/2022 09:33

@JacquelineCarlyle I bet the experience was worth every single oz! Very envious. This is such a lovely harvest time @fallfallfall we are inundated with runner beans and raspberries currently.
Day 3
SW:143.2
CW:141.2
GW:126
2lbs in 2 days I'll take ( pity I had to put so much on to achieve it but....)
Onwards and inwards!

JacquelineCarlyle · 22/09/2022 10:37

Thanks @Was126orbustandmaybebust and well done on your loss! Fantastic start!

ImALittlePea · 22/09/2022 16:07

So yesterday I had one of my trademark dizzy spells. They tend to happen at the turn of the seasons, no idea why, but I come over all faint and nothing barring lots of carbs, sugar and sleep will help. So my relatively good plan for yesterday was buggered by that - I had some crisps, banana and a jelly to overcome it. Unfortunately I still feel quite wiped today but I'm more together, at least.

Today's meals:
Lunch - same as yesterday
Dinner - loaded pasta and pesto

Snacks - I had a nibble of DD's snack/lunch at playgroup which included some cheese cracker, sausage and fruit (avoided crisps though!)

Feeling even less positive about weigh in tomorrow, but on the scales I shall hop nonetheless.

fallfallfall · 22/09/2022 17:13

@ImALittlePea, I hope you feel better soon.
not sure if my lazy day was due to the booster, either way feeling a bit more zippy today.
the scale really is your friend, it’s a long term effort.

SanFranBear · 23/09/2022 07:34

Sorry to hear you've not been well, LittlePea - feeling dizzy is not a pleasant experience. If they happen often, would it be worth speaking to your GP? Hoping you're back to yourself super soon!

Glad you're feeling better, fallfall - being sick can throw you so off course!

My weigh day today and chuffed at another kilo down so September GW is within spitting distance:

SW: 104.7kg
CW: 70.9kg
September GW: 70kg

I should probably stop putting my SW but I find it so helpful to see how far I've come as when I joined this lovely thread back in March, I was by far the heaviest on the thread! Anyways - a week left and just under a kilo to go - ambitious, especially as I have a party tomorrow and will be drinking & eating a-plenty... but we shall see. Getting thisclose to the 60s is somewhere I'm amazed to be so will keep going regardless.

Raspberries are my favourite, 126orbust so am jealous of your harvest. Great start for you too - well done!

ImALittlePea · 23/09/2022 07:35

Hopped on the scales and slightly relieved to see the same as last week.

Got a really busy weekend ahead (dinner out Friday, Saturday and Sunday!) so working out how to try and achieve a loss next week off the back of that. Will stick to weekday-style lunches (rather than joining DH in having bacon baguettes, toasties, etc). I'm going shopping this morning so will stock up on salad items, possibly some falafel and houmous too. Not going to eat crisps in the daytimes. Will be drinking tonight and tomorrow night but will try and stick to sparkling water for meal out Sunday. Then back to it Monday. Hoping that's enough.

Happy Friday all 😁
