Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! August Thread heres the September Thread!

The start of autumn is the perfect time to overall your way of eating in readiness for the change in seasons. Summer was gone in a flash and now the days are getting fresher; I for one like the cooler climate 🥶 < OK not that cold 😬

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right into September! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead and few tweaks here and there it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

Hello! May I join in? Finally getting my mojo back and part of that is about losing the lockdown weight! Got about 1.5 stone to lose that’s gradually gone on and needs to Be Gone! Going lower carb with a bit of intermittent fasting.

TheRealHousewife · 30/08/2022 13:08

Hi @Purplecatshopaholic, welcome to the thread. I lower carb and IF too. Along with that I also calorie count as I am not very tall (+ disabled) and every bit over my 1100 shows. I know cc isn’t for everyone but ultimately I have to create a calorie deficit for successful weight loss. Good luck 🤞

Thanks for the new thread @TheRealHousewife and count me in!

I realised this morning that exactly a year ago I hit 78 kg (after starting 2021 at 100 kg). I’m now 76 kg and while I’m happy I managed to keep all that weight off over the last year, I am a little disappointed that I haven’t lost a bit more. I know where I’m going wrong though and am determined to see some progress in September.

I’ll be calorie counting and aiming for roughly a 10% calorie deficit. I know I won’t be losing weight fast on that, but the 500 calorie deficit I was previously aiming for just hasn’t been working since I increased my exercise levels earlier this year. Hopefully with a smaller deficit there will be less of an urge to overeat all the time🤞

Purplecatshopaholic · 30/08/2022 15:41

thanks for the welcome @TheRealHousewife. I am not going to calorie count (other than a broad overview) because i find moderating carbs just generally helps with what I eat so on the whole the calories take care of themselves. Should really do a bit more exercise - I do walk my dog and a bit of yoga though, so it’s not all bad!

fallfallfall · 30/08/2022 16:39

Checking in 😊

JurrasicCazza · 30/08/2022 16:44

Count me in. I have roughly 2 stone I'd like to lose although I am more specifically aiming to get back into particular dresses which are too tight currently.

I'm calorie counting and exercising 5 days per week. So I have around 1600-1700 per day.

My kids don't go back to school and I don't go back to work until next week, so I won't be 100% on plan until then. But will do what I can (mainly exercise) in the meantime.

BlueEggsAndBacon · 30/08/2022 16:57

Can I join!?

I have 2 stone to lose. I'm using 'lose it' app. I have used it before and it was good, but I fell off the wagon and put back on the weight when mum died last year.

Today I'm starting again! I'm also currently sitting in the waiting room of the orthodontist! Waiting to get a brace!! (Terrified!)

Hoping this time next year I'll be slim, no braces and with gorgeous teeth and flat belly!!! (Well, I can dream!!)

Lizsmum · 30/08/2022 18:06

I'm still here .... and probably will be for a very long time as I think I still have 2 or 3 stone to go.

@CrimsonAlligator I love the way you are so analytical about your progress/maintenance and future plans. No wonder you're so successful.

PS Do we post on August or September if we're WOW tomorrow please?

TheRealHousewife · 30/08/2022 19:54

Evening All 😬 By ‘eck there is definitely a chill in the air tonight!

Pleased to see @fallfallfall @CrimsonAlligator and @Lizsmum joining in again 😊❤️

Welcome to the thread @BlueEggsAndBacon & @JurrasicCazza We usually get a great group of supportive ladies on these threads. Full of inspiration, ideas and support.

@BlueEggsAndBacon being consistent will get you there! Keep visualising your future self when you hear the biscuits & chocolates whispering your name from the cupboard 😬

@JurrasicCazza It’ll be much easier to get into a routine once the children return to school. You’ll soon find your groove.

Ive cleaned and close the kitchen and had my last cuppa of the day. Water for the rest of the evening and an early night beckons. Chat tomorrow 👍

thank you @TheRealHousewife for the new thread and the opportunity to stay on track. which actually means getting back on track the days away did not go to "meal plan".
biked to the grocery store and back this am before breakfast, food choices the past two days are salty and will affect my weight (homemade pizza for supper last night, and today lunch, and most likely tomorrow's lunch as well) but excellent portion sizing, served with fresh cucumbers and water melon.

DustinsHat · 30/08/2022 21:34

Hi, can I join? I have been ignoring my weight problem for a long time - I am now weighing in at 18 stone 1 at last check Blush very embarrassing.

I've downloaded nutricheck and will be calorie counting. However I'm using meal replacements for breakfast and lunch for the first few days and possibly longer. I am massively addicted to junk food and honestly just stuff crap in my mouth constantly without even thinking about it and I need a bit of a shock to the system to break that cycle of always grazing.

Might go along to boots tomorrow to get weighed properly.

Joopy · 30/08/2022 21:56

I'm in! I've been kidding myself that I eat healthily, the reality is that I eat healthy meals but I snack far too much. I've been using mfp which makes me mindful of how much I am eating and so far I'm slowly losing weight.
I want to lose weight to feel better about myself and to fit into clothes that are too good to get rid of!

SanFranBear · 30/08/2022 23:28

Thanks as always, RealHousewife - you run an excellent ship and looking forward to another month of accountability and motivation - especially after the last week or so...

I've been calorie counting since the start of the year with a couple of lower calorie days a week (aim for about 800) and have embraced moving a bit - well, a lot - more by developing a real love for hiking and getting out into the wilderness.

I'll weigh in on Thursday to give myself a good base for the coming month and will set myself a new, monthly goal which I'll hopefully hit this time.

Great to see some familiar names as well as lots of new people - it really is lovely here.

Hi all,

I would like to join too but I am a fall off the wagon quickly kind of girl.

I am not sure if it ok to join as I have an eating disorder but I am going for an appointment about this in the 6th September.

milkfromthesleepycow · 31/08/2022 08:37

Thanks for new thread @TheRealHousewife

I'm looking forward to the kids going back to school on Monday so I can get back into a routine! I've really struggled with the summer holidays (but had a blast)

Plan going forward

  • continue IF, aim for around 1500 cals a day, non processed and lots of veg, meet my protein requirements
  • run 3 times a week (one long, one interval/hills, one tempo)
  • 2 decent strength training a week

I feel better just writing it down!

SW: 90.9kg
CW: 68.1kg
GW: 60kg by 2023

Waving to all the oldies and newbies! I'll also resolve to try and name check better!

VashtaNerada · 31/08/2022 08:45

I’d like to join! What does SW etc mean?

Joopy · 31/08/2022 09:09

Starting weight, current weight, goal weight

Allthegoodnamestakken · 31/08/2022 09:11

Thanks @TheRealHousewife just checking in so I don't loose the thread.
SW- 76.2Kg
CW-70.4kg
GW- 65kg - Will see how I am looking/feeling when here and perhaps change it but that puts me firmly into the middle of a healthy BMI

@VashtaNerada welcome SW is starting weight

TheRealHousewife · 31/08/2022 09:14

Good Morning Everyone 😊

My WOW is .1lb 😬 Not a lot but the right direction. My final weigh-in for August shows a loss of 4lb which I am pleased with. After ‘maintaining’ for around a year, last month it started to move in the right direction again. Never give up. I’m hoping to lose at least 2lb in September.

You’re all very welcome @fallfallfall @SanFranBear(thank you for the compliment 🙏😘) @milkfromthesleepycow @wannadisc0 . Anyone from previous threads is most welcome to join us all again. @HouseOfHolbein just letting you know where we are 😬

A warm welcome to the thread @DustinsHat @Joopy @VashtaNerada @thoughtprovokingname 👍@VashtaNerada SW - Slimming World. Some people follow that way of eating.

@milkfromthesleepycow Great intro! You are right in incorporating strength training. ST is especially important as we get older to maintain muscle mass 👍Blummin’ well done on your progress to date! 22.8kg 😮👍👏🥇

@thoughtprovokingname You are welcome to join in and post but I’d like to say I’m not knowledgeable around eds. I’m pleased to read you’re seeking support!

@Joopy Sounds like you’ve got good foundations with eating healthy main meals. It sounds like you just need to rethink snacking. If you keep sugars and processed foods to a minimum and try to incorporate more protein into main meals and keep hydrated you might find the need to snack diminishes. 👍

Menu
Meal 1 - Home made courgette & potato soup. GF thin. Pear. Walnuts.
Meal 2 - Mediterranean omelette and massive salad 🥗
Tea, black coffee and water.

Exercise
Session 1 - Hand Weights.
Session 2 - Floor exercise - squats, lunges and a plank (in a fashion 😬)

Tips

  1. Set your intentions daily.
  2. Meal plan.
  3. Clean and close the kitchen after your last meal.
  4. Keep hydrated 💧💧💧
  5. Don't drink your calories.
  6. Include protein, fibre and healthy fats with each meal.
  7. Control food portions.
  8. Keep moving.
  9. Actively relax.
  10. Get quality sleep.

Let’s make September count! Imagine where you could be by this time next month if you make healthy consistent choices. Remember that life sometimes happens and if you digress it isn’t the end of the world. Aim for a balanced approach 👍❤️

I'm three weeks in, calorie counting with mfp. I've cut out a lot of snacking I just hope I can keep it up.

notlisteningwithmother · 31/08/2022 09:23

Count me in please!

I have about ten pounds to lose.

Spring and summer have been busy, and too much food and too little exercise have left me feeling unhealthy and unfit as well as over my normal comfortable weight.

Target is to get back into my normal clothes and improve fitness, so probably a combination of exercise, healthy eating and some calorie counting. Hoping I feel better all round as a result.

Schools go back next week so that's my starting point.

TheRealHousewife · 31/08/2022 09:26

Welcome to the thread @notlisteningwithmother You’ll soon see that off I’m sure 👍
