Hello and Welcome

Following on from the LOSE IT! August Thread heres the September Thread!

The start of autumn is the perfect time to overall your way of eating in readiness for the change in seasons. Summer was gone in a flash and now the days are getting fresher; I for one like the cooler climate 🥶 < OK not that cold 😬

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right into September! Reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself! Being mindful, planning ahead and few tweaks here and there it’s not impossible!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have a WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable). It’s a journey, not a destination.

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day. I try not to drink calories and have very little processed food or sugar. I meal plan, set my intentions daily and exercise most days.

Are you in?😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why? You can do it, if you really want too!

Morning... goodness, these early starts are not agreeing with me 😉

Like you, RealHousewife, back to hitting the water hard. It's so good for your body but I always struggle but did better yesterday and will do even better today <said with meaning!>

I'll make some soft boiled eggs once DS is up and out the door and will have my new obsession (tomato & lentil dahl) for dinner but not sure what to do for lunch - probably my usual crackers & yoghurt which I do love!

Your honey looks absolutely beautiful, fallfall! Do you sell it? I know honey is one of those rare foods that will never go off - I remember reading there was some found in an ancient pyramid burial chamber and was still considered 'good' - but surely that's too much for even the most hardcore of honey lovers?

I make this lush banana loaf with honey (good ole Mary Berry!) but trying to steer clear of cakes at the mo - not helped by having to make muffins for DD to ensure she'll eat some breakfast (pumpkin this week!) I say 'have to' - of course I don't but I love baking!

Right - onwards and downwards everyone.. have great days. As you'd say, RealHousewife - do it with gusto!

ImALittlePea · 06/09/2022 07:51

Ahh that's so close! Exciting for you @Slightlystressedbride

I remember the dress alteration dramas... Although mine was more that the dress shop sent my dress to a seamstress but then went AWOL and I didn't know where it had gone! Once I found out all was relatively smooth 🤦‍♀️

I think I had a similar treatment just before our wedding, but also included a full body scrub, massage etc. Just a nice pamper, can't say whether it did anything for weight loss but it does wonders for your inner calm. Go for it!

Haha, I also left my binoculars at home @TheRealHousewife 😂

Yesterday stayed very much on track, according to MFP finished the day on 1215 cals. My 'official' target is 1400 but I'm aiming for for 1200 for now.

Today I'm taking DD to a local play centre so will be having lunch there. Thankfully their food is so fresh, they do wonderful salads so I'll have one of those (instead of their equally wonderful pizzas!)
Dinner is veggie curry, finally. It's one of the only meals we all enjoy (the kids have a fruity chicken curry that I make), and it's so pleasing to all sit and eat the same meal together.

Did anyone else have huge thunder storms overnight? They were insane in my area! So all a bit tired on our feet today but also glad we've finally had the promised storms!

TheRealHousewife · 06/09/2022 08:07

Hi @SanFranBear not the weather is cooler I don’t get the same urge to drink water. Having a glass after every loo break and before I eat!

@ImALittlePea hahaha 👀 It’s great to find a cafe that does ‘fresh’ fresh foods! I love a salad 🥗 One of my friends had very bad thunder Sunday night and some last night. I’ve slept through the lot 😮 which is a surprise as I often wake in the night anyway.

buzzofthebumblebee · 06/09/2022 08:15

Fantastic storms here Pea!

Love the look of your honey Fall Wow - what a skill & achievement.
Feeling tired (or moody - can't tell which at the moment !!) so will keep head down and tick loads off the to-do list today, work and life admin. Water when I feel hungry (bored) ; )

Purplecatshopaholic · 06/09/2022 08:36

If you can’t find somewhere that does those body wraps @Slightlystressedbride try a bath with Epsom salts. I did like a body wrap before a big event back in the day but don’t know if they’ve gone out of favour a bit? A 15-20 minute bath full of Epsom salts is a really good sub.

SanFranBear · 06/09/2022 09:08

I thought you were going to say the Epsom Salts helped lose some inches, PurpleCat, and I got excited as I have a couple of salty baths a week to ease my muscles after my hikes. You're totally right though - incredibly relaxing and make your whole body feel great. You'll look and feel fantastic anyway, I hope, Slightlystressedbride - wedding days are loads of fun!

Just popped back on to say, NSV this morning in that I got a pair of size 14 work trousers on this morning. Given I was an 18-20 at the start of this year, it's given me a huge boost! Can't quite believe it (although obviously having them in my wardrobe means I fitted in them once upon a time but it's been a long Long LONG time!)

buzzofthebumblebee · 06/09/2022 10:17

Absolutely amazing - well done SanFran !!

Rewis · 06/09/2022 10:39

@TheRealHousewife i complained how last time everyone in the gym were really young and attractive. But now we were back to more diverse group of people!

Allthegoodnamestakken · 06/09/2022 12:54

Afternoon all, feeling a bit better today so hoping whatever bug i've had is finally on the way out my system. Weighed myself today and was 69.4kg very excited to finally see the number 6 on the scales as opposed to 7. Its been quite a few years since my weight was in the 60s
@fallfallfall your honey looks lovely! I would love to have a hive someday but going to need a bigger garden first
@SanFranBear well done on getting in those trousers!
@Slightlystressedbride never done a body wrap but I agree any sort of pampering will be good before the wedding.

buzzofthebumblebee · 06/09/2022 15:08

Huge congrats on getting down into the 60s@Allthegoodnamestakken !! Star

Well done on the NSV @SanFranBear 🥳 and on getting to the 60s @Allthegoodnamestakken 🥳

Had a delicious lunch at the play centre - houmous, falafel and sweet chilli salad. Lots of leaves, onion, cucumber and tomatoes along with some seed/grains and the toppings. No idea of calories though for MFP 😬

fallfallfall · 06/09/2022 20:30

oh wow @ImALittlePea that salad looks great. Purple Dragon in London had some amazing salads (and a brownie with cherries) that bring back fond memories.
:) @Allthegoodnamestakken always nice when the scale goes down even a tiny bit. i'm holding steady at 145.? and it's an accurate reflection of my meals and activity level so i'm okay with this. BUT today i did deliveries on my bike 11 sold
@Rewis i really enjoy the gym stories, but i really enjoy people watching (in a socially acceptable way) always wondering the backstories.
HONEY: well it's a type of sugar and lasts forever without going rancid but it will crystalize to a hard block.
my dh has 25-45 hives, at various times he splits them in two or combines them based on how healthy they are. 40 hives is considered the max amount for a hobbyist. now he is fully retired but it's a fairly time consuming hobby but not time or day specific. often based on temperature trends. equipment (all stainless steel) is expensive and similar whether you have 1 (although a lone hive not recommended should be 2) or 39. all but one hive is on land owned by farmers.
this equipment take up a fair chunk of space.
it's been a good choice for him, it's helped us integrate into a new community and i enjoy the social side of sales.
Happy e-free holiday @TheRealHousewife!

milkfromthesleepycow · 07/09/2022 06:40

Very interesting @fallfallfall sounds like your DH is certainly keeping busy with 40 hives! Bike delivery- excellent!

WOW - I didn't expect a loss this week as think it my TOTM (coil so hard to tell) BUT the scales tell me I'm 66.9kg so very very pleased.

That means I've only got 7kg to target weight. Never thought I'd make it this far. Slightly surreal if I'm honest I can't quite accept it in my head. Going to keep going what I'm doing and see what happens

Good luck to anyone weighing today. Remember lose, gain or STS- it's all part of the journey

ImALittlePea · 07/09/2022 06:55

Well done @milkfromthesleepycow that's great!

Good luck to everyone WoWing today. You've got this!

SW 88.4kg
Last week: 88.4kg
This week: 87.3kg

GW 85kg

Kg down from last week. Yay. Gives a bit of hope.

Lizsmum · 07/09/2022 08:25

Not WOW this week as I'm in Paris being a tourist and eating with no thought of calories or carbohydrates. I'm walking a lot but I don't think it will in any way compensate for the cheese, croissants, bread, wine ..... Am I enjoying it? You bet.
À la semaine prochaine!

RadFad · 07/09/2022 08:35

WoW for me this morning. Lost 2lb which I'm very happy with. Plan is to continue and hope for another 1-2lb next week.

milkfromthesleepycow · 07/09/2022 08:35

@Lizsmum enjoy! Life is too short to not enjoy holidays, you'll be mindful when you get back

Just managed my first official cycle commute. 5miles and I had to stop and walk halfway up 3 of the (really quite large, no kidding) hills. 50mins total. Now just have to work 😂😂

Mumwithsons · 07/09/2022 08:38

New person here!
I’ve been trying for the last 2-3 years to lose 5-10kg and it just keeps going back on. I really must though, going through the menopause, my cholesterol is high, I have a disabled child to care for so I must get healthier!

SW: 71 kg
CW: 71 kg 😩
GW: 65 kg by Christmas

Hope this thread finally helps me. So disappointed with myself, 2 years and just a bit of a yo yo to 67kg but then straight up again…

Joopy · 07/09/2022 09:17

SW 88.9
CW 85.7
GW 65

So I lost 0.3kg But.....I was away for 5 days ate out 3 times and had a takeaway and a burger king. I had to skip breakfast everyday to try to keep things under control! I'm looking forward to a more balanced week. I've made butternut and bacon soup for lunch this week and it is delicious which helps! Today I have an unexpected day off so I'll be tidying the house, walking the dog and drinking water.

buzzofthebumblebee · 07/09/2022 10:15

Some amazing losses - well done everyone ! Keep at it.
WOW saw 2lb loss for me too this week. Hurray.
Plus pilates classes started up again, and 2 sessions at the gym a week too. Will get out running again soon.
That salad yesterday looked so delicious @ImALittlePea . All the nutritional benefits of fresh ingredients would have offset any calories, surely ?!
Welcome @Mumwithsons You can do it!

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 07/09/2022 11:07

SW: can't recall but over 11 stone.
CW: 63.50
GW: 9 stone or 9 and a half

Think I've gained a bit. Have been trying to have cheese oatcakes, cottage cheese, cucumber crudites and cherry tomatoes for lunch plus Minestrone slim a soup.

Yesterday:

Breakfast - butter croissant plus small oat biscuit
Lunch: 429 calories - mediterranean veg, humous, spinach, white bread sandwich plus courgette and mint soup think 54 calories.
Snack: Babybel light and snack pack mini chocolate dark rice cakes, 179 calories houmous and breadsticks plus grab bag BBQ hula hoops plus half bottle pink Prosecco from hairdresser. 80g apricots
Dinner: smoked tofu and veggie with basmati rice stir fry

Walked a lot yesterday - on the go almost all day and did 11,240 steps in total - which included commute to work, to hairdresser and home, didn't walk home as dark and raining!

Breakfast: fruit and fibre with skimmed milk and 80g blueberries
Snack: mini baby bel light
Planned lunch of: 1 small pack Nairns cheese oatcakes with serving of fat free cottage cheese plus cucumber crudites, cherry tomatoes and lettuce, plus minestrone slim a soup
snacks: nectarine and 80g apricots

I would've meal planned at work yday but thought we had lunch out... all about planning!

ImALittlePea · 07/09/2022 11:13

Oh definitely @buzzofthebumblebee, super fresh. Wasn't concerned about calories but as I'm trying to start tracking again on MFP it threw me a bit. But the rest of the day was nice and healthy too, I swerved the naan bread with our curry, weighed out my rice etc.

Today's plan:
Lunch - cup-a-soup, veggies, dairylea triangle, followed by greek yoghurt and pomegranate seeds
Dinner - sausage and sweet potato bake, which has red onion, peppers, tomatoes and the like chucked in
