Diet for Christmas challenge

OhFatty · 24/07/2022 15:30

I know it’s boiling hot and far too early but does anyone want to start a Christmas diet?

I’ve got a LOT to lose and in June I set myself a target of 4 stone by Christmas. So far I’ve lost 1 stone 3, so starting today my new target is going to be 40lbs by Christmas (although more would be very welcome 😀) My weigh day is Monday. I’ll update here every week, and hopefully some others will join me?

I need all the support I can get at the moment with losing my baby weight - kinda more Fatwoman than Batwoman at the moment, so I’m in!

Fiftysixthnamechange · 24/07/2022 15:37

I'm in too, more like 20 pounds for me but I'm just back off holiday and bigger than when I was pregnant! Firmly in the overweight category and edging ever closer to obesity...

TheBatwoman · 24/07/2022 15:45

I was thinking around 20lbs too. I’m given to understand that’s about the 10kg I was planning as my goal. I’ve lost about 5kg since the twins were born (was hoping for more by now but lots of complications after c-section) and the 10kg would take me back to my pre-pregnancy weight.

Are you hoping to just diet or a combination of diet and exercise?

I'll do both diet and exercise, if I'm not exercising I find it difficult to eat healthily and if I'm exercising I won't mess it up by eating junk! Allegedly....

Tayegete · 24/07/2022 19:00

Me, we are going on holiday at Xmas to a warm country and I’m truly huge. I’ve been going to the gym 3 x a week (from no exercise) for a few months but just can’t motivate myself to eat more healthily. I have six stone to lose, but I’d love to lose 3 stone before Xmas. That’s 2lb a week.

OhFatty · 24/07/2022 19:12

This is brilliant! I thought it might be a bit early for people, but we may as well start now.

I haven’t done any exercise for years and I’ve got a lot of weight to lose so I’m taking it very (very) slowly, and I’m just walking at the moment, and using 3kg hand weights to hopefully tone my upper arms

Same. I’m with you there. I’ve always found it so much easier to eat well when I’m training. I’ve always enjoyed the exercise part but found the diet part harder, as I do love my food!

WGACA · 24/07/2022 20:06

I’m in!

TheBatwoman · 24/07/2022 20:19

Good plan. I also have about 5-6 stone total to lose to get back to my target weight, but trying to keep the Xmas target manageable for current circumstances. I’ll be really happy if I can get back to my pre-pregnancy weight by Xmas and ecstatic with any more.

Communionmom · 24/07/2022 20:21

I'm in! I put on a lot of weight since lock down and stress/comfort eating. If the kids are acting up I tend to reach for chocolate (even though we try not to keep it in the house) or a glass of wine. Both habits need to stop.

My only regular exercise is walking the dog but he's an older Golden Retriever with paw problems so lately its been too hot to walk him and even when I do it's a 30 minute amble.

I like intermittant fasting. 16/8 with a bit of 5/2 thrown in if i've overdone it at the weekend. I'll weight myself in the morning. I'm expecting around 12stone 5 and I'm only 5ft 2.

Viostep · 24/07/2022 20:42

I'd like to join!
I'm 5ft2 and last time I checked I was 13s3. I'm going to weigh myself tomorrow and start then.

I'm really fed up at the moment and hope I can do it this time! I want to lose 5 stone overall but aiming for a stone and a half for Christmas.

WutheringShites86 · 24/07/2022 21:59

Placemarking for inspiration. I'm try to work up my motivation to get back on the wagon again.

Readytostartagain · 24/07/2022 22:07

I'd like to join please

I'm 5ft1 and about 11 3. I’ll weigh myself tomorrow and start (again) then- aiming for a stone and a half for Christmas.

Eviebeans · 25/07/2022 04:20

I'd like to join too - have just finished a four week blitz. I lost 5 pounds which I was a bit disappointed about but would like to keep going and lose some more. I weigh 10 stone 9 at the moment but find as I've got older that the weight goes on easier than it comes off. I find a combination of intermittent fasting and being careful about carbs (not cutting out completely but limiting portion size) works best for me.

DublinFemale · 25/07/2022 07:01

Hi

Can I join in please?

I've been trying the Elate programme and it is incredibly difficult. All carbs are out, fruit and lot of veg apart from ones I don't like (typical). Basically anything with sugar.

They do however recommend you don't weigh yourself, it's different measurement of your body. Pick an outfit which is snug fit and aim to fit into it. Try it on every week.

007User · 25/07/2022 07:52

I'm in and want to lose 1.5 stone. Could I do that by Christmas?

Readytostartagain · 25/07/2022 08:09

Weighed in at 155.5lbs this morning so if I lose a lb a week I could be 134 by Christmas.

Communionmom · 25/07/2022 08:18

weighed in at 12 stone 3 this morning so not as high as I thought.

2under2howscary · 25/07/2022 08:20

I'd like to join. 15 stone 6 today after two babies and would like to lose around 3 stone for Xmas! X

Viostep · 25/07/2022 09:37

Weigh in this morning. Still 13s3. Not bad considering the takeaways I had. My plan is to skip breakfast most days and try to keep to 1200-1300 calories. That should lose me 1lb a week (pcos + being a short arse=slow weight loss).

Best of luck everyone!

TheBatwoman · 25/07/2022 11:06

Weighed in at 84.8kg this morning (13st 5lbs I believe), so just over 1kg down from last week.

Fiftysixthnamechange · 25/07/2022 12:08

Got up and did a workout this morning meaning I'll have a healthy Lunch! I'm 11st 7 and I'm aiming for 10 st.

OkyDoke · 25/07/2022 14:14

Going to pop in here too! Been trying to lose weight since June, about 10lbs down, many more to go!

WutheringShites86 · 26/07/2022 18:28

OK, Monday wasn't a great start mostly due to me being totally unprepared to get started but I still logged everything on mfp to get the ball rolling.

Today was much better, looking at finishing the day with 94 calories spare 😊

How's everyone getting on?

TheBatwoman · 26/07/2022 22:54

Good so far I think - how is everyone else getting on? Definitely finding calorie counting/portion control more challenging for meals I haven’t prepared myself. Sure that’ll come though. Managed at least 30 min workout each day this week so far though, so very happy with that.
