Diet for Christmas challenge

OhFatty · 24/07/2022 15:30

I know it’s boiling hot and far too early but does anyone want to start a Christmas diet?

I’ve got a LOT to lose and in June I set myself a target of 4 stone by Christmas. So far I’ve lost 1 stone 3, so starting today my new target is going to be 40lbs by Christmas (although more would be very welcome 😀) My weigh day is Monday. I’ll update here every week, and hopefully some others will join me?

Me me me!!! Can I join? I would love to loose 3 stone so I need to start a long time ago I'm currently fasting 18/6 after seeing a larger lady stuff chips into her face on holiday- turns out it was my reflection from the back 😭

Transformatio · 02/08/2022 11:34

I'm up for this challenge @OhFatty - thank you! How are you getting on?

I started losing four weeks ago (nine weeks into a 10 week 'better together' challenge with a friend.. where I ended up gaining 3.6 lbs overall, despite my last week attempt 😁- still, I've started now!).

I've got more to lose than I can manage by Christmas, so Christmas is an interim goal.

I think there are about 20 weeks now until Christmas. Hard to chose a target really - I just want to consistently work towards losing weight. I'll go for 32 lbs as that takes me to a round stone number.

Transformatio · 02/08/2022 11:58

@mallowchick - I don't recognise myself either sometimes. It can be a sobering shock! I'm also doing IF (usually 20:4)...the plan is that this is my lifestyle now

boymama82 · 02/08/2022 12:02

Id like to join in please! I've turned 40 today and weigh 15mg one 5lbs, luckily I carry it well but two babies in 2 years had made me very wobbly!! Would like 2 stone off by Christmas

OhFatty · 02/08/2022 13:53

I’m so sorry I got distracted. My daughter came home. She works abroad and we don’t see her very often.

I’ve had two weigh ins since I last posted, and last Monday I lost 5lbs and yesterday another 5lbs (remember I’ve got a lot more to lose than the rest of you.

I’m going to go through the posts and add us all in a list with how much we want to lose, then I can repost it every week when everyone’s weighed in to keep us motivated.

we all have different amounts to lose, but together we can do this 😀

I need to ideally lose a stone but essentially I can't fit in any of my trousers now and I am refusing to buy new ones so that's my motivation.

I started well 3 weeks ago and lost 3-4lbs in 2 weeks but nothing since. Trying to stick to a calorie deficit but struggling with snacking as I have to make lunch, snacks and dinner for my children and they don't finish their food so there's lots of temptation.

Transformatio · 02/08/2022 14:29

Happy Birthday @boymama82 !! Flowers🎉

That is an excellent refusal @pennysarah - wish I had taken this very sensible plan! I found chewing gum was my friend to stop the habit of finishing off children's leftovers.

Well done @OhFatty ! That's a brilliant start and I hope you've had a brilliant time with your daughter.

RadFad · 02/08/2022 14:36

@themepark yes I'll see what I can replace. That's a good idea.

Our weight is not too far apart and I didn't realise all that could potentially be lost by Christmas! Wow!

Good luck to you. What's your plan?

That's good, we could help each other?

SnowyMouse · 02/08/2022 18:26

PS my plan is calorie counting, 1000 kcal/day (I'm in a wheelchair).

hedgehog91 · 02/08/2022 21:24

@OhFatty that’s an amazing start! Well done. And the weekly post list with us all on sounds great - thank you :)

I’ve not been great today and yesterday (food wise), i’m an emotional eater and we are currently having quite a lot of building work done, we have a puppy, and my little one has chicken pox. So a biscuit (or 10) is really hard to resist right now! However tomorrow I am going to stay positive and make better food choices!

Lovely that there are so many of us on here to motivate eachother x

OhFatty · 02/08/2022 22:05

@hedgehog91 it sounds like you’ve got enough on your plate at the moment. Hard enough having builders in, but having to watch a puppy too sounds very stressful (and also very lovely) My head would never be out of the biscuit tin.

The thing is, we do need to see a picture of your puppy, or any puppy

I hope your little one feels much better soon

That’s a lovely idea, thanks @OhFatty !

Hope your little one feels better soon too @hedgehog91. Try to stay positive. Thinking of you x

christmas2022 · 03/08/2022 06:34

@SnowyMouse Yes I'd be up for helping each other!

Are you dieting or exercising too?

SnowyMouse · 02/08/2022 18:26

PS my plan is calorie counting, 1000 kcal/day (I'm in a wheelchair).

That's very low - are you on one meal per day? What kind of things are you eating? Are you hungry?

Fiftysixthnamechange · 03/08/2022 08:28

Im 2 pounds down so far. It's difficult with the children off school but I'm determined! I keep looking at all the beautiful clothes I own that I can no longer fit into for motivation. Buying a size bigger seems such a waste of money just because I can't stop stuffing my face!!

WutheringShites86 · 03/08/2022 08:30

I'm having hit and miss days at the moment, yesterday was better. Sleep deprivation is my biggest barrier to success. I've got a little one who is low sleep needs and wakes multiple times in the night still at almost 2 so I barely get any deep sleep and I work full time too. Its so hard not to comfort eat and reach for the easy options like a takeaway when I'm so tired 😴

Snowymouse · 03/08/2022 11:19

christmas2022 · 03/08/2022 06:35

That's very low - are you on one meal per day? What kind of things are you eating? Are you hungry?

I eat porridge, soup, haddock, boiled egg, babybel, mixed veg and a protein shake.

I'm just dietting.

TheBatwoman · 03/08/2022 13:43

Does anyone have any good healthy breakfast or lunch suggestions, especially any quick/easy options that you’ve found to be good please?

TheBatwoman · 03/08/2022 13:44

I completely understand that feeling @WutheringShites86 - I have little ones too and it can be so difficult after a rough night. I seem to be perpetually tired at the moment!

WutheringShites86 · 03/08/2022 14:12

@TheBatwoman the tiredness is a killer for motivation! I think I need to learn to be kind to myself and realistic in that if I've only had 3 hours sleep of course I'm going to struggle but not to just write it all off completely because I've had a few biscuits or something.

Julesni77 · 03/08/2022 14:18

@OhFatty thats amazing nearly a stone in 2 weeks! I also have a lot to lose I work out 4 times a week already but its all about the calories in! I am aiming to stick to 2400 cals a day my first weight in was yesterday and I was 18 stone 9 at 5ft 5 so a long way to go! 40lbs by xmas is the goal!

TheBatwoman · 03/08/2022 14:19

You’re absolutely right @WutheringShites86. Please do try to be kind to yourself. It’s so easy to get demotivated otherwise as you say. I’m still kind of learning that myself. I keep comparing myself to how I was pre-twins and that’s always a slippery slope! I’m also trying really hard not to let a bad day derail my longer term goal.

Easier said than done sometimes I know. Feel more supported and positive since joining this thread though, thanks everyone!

SilverWhale · 03/08/2022 14:21

I would love to join please, I'll be dieting and walking 2 stone to lose!
