Diet for Christmas challenge

OhFatty · 24/07/2022 15:30

I know it’s boiling hot and far too early but does anyone want to start a Christmas diet?

I’ve got a LOT to lose and in June I set myself a target of 4 stone by Christmas. So far I’ve lost 1 stone 3, so starting today my new target is going to be 40lbs by Christmas (although more would be very welcome 😀) My weigh day is Monday. I’ll update here every week, and hopefully some others will join me?

Going well so far, staying away from alcohol always helps me with weightloss so I hope I can get through the weekend unscathed!

LucaIsPunching · 27/07/2022 08:37

Only started on Sunday but having a great week. Had lovely dinners and trying to not eat until lunchtime so skipping breakfast.

Been getting steps in and had a gym session.

Feeling great and a few pound Rouen already is encouraging.

Thinking of trying to have an alcohol free weekend for a great finish to the first week.

TheBatwoman · 27/07/2022 11:52

Good shouts on the skipping alcohol. It’s surprising how many calories are in alcohol actually isn’t it?

Eviebeans · 27/07/2022 13:28

I've been trying to have my main meal at lunch time. That seems to work quite well for me. Also trying to limit take aways.

ScarlettMcCain · 28/07/2022 15:40

I'm in too please, for some extra motivation... 50lb to lose here. I actually lost a decent chunk last year but have managed to put it back on Blush

(In my defence it went back on A LOT easier than it came off, after I changed to a desk job...!)

Plan is to cook some decent meals instead of picking on toast a lot of the time and up the exercise!

Can I join in too please. I need to lose about 10 kilos, or a stone and a half. I've just failed miserably on the July boot camp thread. In my defence I had the flu so didn't exercise. I'm in Australia and really want to lose weight for the summer.

Starting weight 70.5 or 11 stone 1lb.

KobaniDaughters · 30/07/2022 00:21

I’d like to join, not a massive amount but just over a stone - I actually haven’t weighed myself in a long time but ALL my clothes are very tight so there is a certain pair of shorts I’d like to be comfortable in by Christmas - which puts me around 133lbs normally

I am getting. Gradually bigger by the day so def need to rein it in. Would actually like to get to goal weight by Christmas then maintain til my 40th birthday in may

hedgehog91 · 30/07/2022 06:44

Please can I join? At 13stone 7lb I am the heaviest I have ever weighed and it has completely shattered my confidence. I feel like I am constantly on a diet, always giving up and starting again. Feel so self conscious in anything I wear! Would love my weight to not be the first thing I think about when I wake up every morning!!

I would like to lose 3 stone in the long term. But I will aim for 2 stone by Christmas and anything more would be a massive bonus! Good luck everyone xx

Eviebeans · 31/07/2022 06:44

My weight is hovering at a certain point, not surprising really as I ate so much junk yesterday. Need some motivation to get the weight loss going again. Not looking to lose loads but would like to see the numbers going down.

KobaniDaughters · 31/07/2022 17:15

I need to just not drink for a while!!!

TheBatwoman · 31/07/2022 17:54

Does anyone find it difficult to eat well while away/traveling while trying to lose weight? It’s really hard to keep on track when you have less control over what you’re eating. We’ve just had a lovely few days away but not expecting a great weigh in day tomorrow!

hedgehog91 · 31/07/2022 18:14

I find it near impossible!! There are just too many temptations! I think you can give yourself a bit of slack though, we can’t possibly be controlled 100% of the time!

I have made a rule to myself that I can absolutely not eat a single thing past 7pm. The evenings are my worst for bingeing. So I’m banning myself from the kitchen after kids have been out to bed.

hedgehog91 · 31/07/2022 18:15

@TheBatwoman my last message was in reply to you. I’m new to this so getting my head around how it works!

TheBatwoman · 31/07/2022 18:24

Thanks @hedgehog91. Yes I think you’re right. Perhaps it is times like this that cutting ourselves some slack may be the better approach. I just tried to make the best choices within the options available and not overdo it, certainly not wanting to offend our hosts!

On the flip side, I feel very proud of myself for avoiding snacks/treats at our first concert in years mind! That’s something I suppose.

May have to try your kitchen closed policy in the evenings - sounds like a good idea!

I need to just not drink for a while!!!

This is my problem. A couple of drinks in the evening makes the cheeses and chocolate seem irresistible and brings a “Fekkit! I’ll start again tomorrow” attitude.

I’m in a different time zone so Monday morning in Oz. Monday will be my weigh in day, so starting weight 70.7kg

TheBatwoman · 01/08/2022 08:34

Morning, gained 1kg since last week unfortunately. Bit disheartening after a solid exercise week, but not entirely unexpected after being away and finding it difficult to manage the diet side. All part of the long game I guess! Hope you all have better updates today :)

hedgehog91 · 01/08/2022 10:33

@TheBatwoman well done for taking it in your stride. I too am thinking if it as the long game! I would normally aim to lose as much as possible as soon as possible, but it never ever lasts! So this time i’m remembering to go slow and steady.

I’m 1.8lb down this week. This week may be harder as getting hormonal! Hope everyone is feeling positive today :)

TheBatwoman · 01/08/2022 16:48

Thank you @hedgehog91 and well done on your 1.8lbs. Completely agree with your approach. So much better to go with a sustainable plan and enjoy the effects long term then.

SnowyMouse · 01/08/2022 19:29

I'd like to lose 20 lb (a lb a week), which would give me a weight of 10 stone 10.75. I'm currently 12 stone 2.75 lb.

RadFad · 01/08/2022 21:58

I'd like to join you all please. I've about 5/6st to lose but aim for 2st by Christmas.

I am terrible for evening snacking. I can eat really healthy in the day and then ruin it all with chocolate or a takeaway after the kids have gone to bed.

Could you do some swaps for lower calorie treats?

Our weight is not too far apart and I didn't realise all that could potentially be lost by Christmas! Wow!

Good luck to you. What's your plan?

KobaniDaughters · 02/08/2022 08:57

Ugh I feel fat and horrid. DH and I away this weekend in Paris so will spend the next 3 days being strict (prob 5:2) and no booze to at least ge ahead of that
